~Prologue~
Oceanstar gazed at the shining hollow of the tree intently, as if searching for something. "There's something coming…" She murmured, dread filling her gaze.
"I feel it too," Finchstar meowed quietly, "And… I think it's time for our emergency protocol."
"Really? Is it that serious? We'd be breaking every law of our world," Leapingstar padded closer, peering into the hollow, his voice full of concern.
"I think it is," Stated Kindlestar. "We've never had a disaster this bad coming before; I just wish we could see it clearly. How are we to help the Clans prepare if we cannot prepare ourselves?"
"Then it's decided. We will bring… a twoleg into our world. For the first time; and hopefully the last," Waterstar mewed decisively. "Who should it be?"
"I know of one," Rabbitstar touched his nose to their side of the Moontree Hollow, and it swirled to reveal a brown-haired girl with hazel green eyes sleeping soundly, a pair of gold-coloured glasses lying on her nightstand and a book- the latest special edition Warriors book- on her chest, as if she'd fallen asleep reading.
"She's perfect. Does everyone agree?" Kindlestar questioned.
"Wait! She has a friend- and I think we should take the friend too. With what's coming… we'll need it," Rabbitstar interjected, touching his nose to the swirling mist in the Hollow once again and revealing a girl with blue eyes, and blonde hair that was dip-dyed red.
"Well, do we agree to take them both, then?"
"I agree," Oceanstar nodded her head.
"I as well," Leapingstar shuffled his paws. "Just make sure they know the risk."
"Then it's decided. We'll send them a vision tomorrow night."
~Chapter One~
"Evelyn Rose Seaman, get down here!" Evelyn woke to her mother shouting her name- as usual. She'd be buying an alarm clock soon, though. Hopefully.
"Coming, Mom!" She shouted, pulling her favorite shirt over her head and furiously trying to reach for her glasses at the same time. She shoved her glasses onto her face, grabbed her phone from where it was charging, pulled her book out from where it was buried in her blankets, and raced downstairs to the smell of… nothing. She'd get breakfast at school.
"Time for school, honey," Mom kissed her forehead and gestured to where she stored her backpack- she'd packed the night before.
"Love you, mom," Evelyn gave her a quick hug and rushed out the door. Where is Jade?. Her friend normally met her halfway to their bus stop which was… now! And there was Jade, with her signature blue eyes and dip-dyed red hair.
"'Lynn!" Jade called. "Today's a half day- did you hear?"
"Of course I heard! I have the school news website too, y'know," Evelyn bumped her friend's shoulder.
"I mean, it was just a precaution. Do you wanna come to my house? I got the new warriors book…" Jade said, wiggling her fingers for 'dramatic effect'.
"Does it ever feel like we're too old for Warriors? Like, I'll never stop loving it, but it feels like now we're fifteen we should be outgrowing it," Evelyn made wild hand gestures as she talked- for some reason 'outgrowing' was 'jazz hands'.
"Look at you, sounding just like your mom with the outgrowing stuff! You can like whatever books you want; it's fine," Jade rushed ahead, and Evelyn raced to catch up.
That school day was… interesting. Everything was rushed, which made it hard to focus on anything, but… it was what it was. Evelyn and Jade spent the rest of the day brainstorming what the next Warriors book might be, watching Youtube, and generally having a nice day. They also decided to sleepover that night, because, well, why not? Jade pulled out the old mini-bunk bed thing under Evelyn's bed and used that as a bed. They may or may not have stayed up till 1:00 watching Youtube. When they finally fell asleep, they must've looked like the walking dead.
"Greetings, Evelyn. Jade. Or, should I say, Evergreen and Greenstone," A white she-cat with black eye markings was staring at them intensely- a white she-cat? Talked?! - it took Evelyn a few seconds to process what she was seeing.
"Y-You're a cat…" Jade mumbled. Evelyn turned to look at her, and was shocked to see a white she-cat with red tail and underbelly markings, and blue eyes in place of her friend. With a growing sense of dread, she looked at herself- and she, too, was a cat. A brown coat, lighter brown speckles across her front paws- maybe they went across her body, she couldn't tell. Were her eyes even the same color? Probably, since Jade's were. She scrambled to her feet-paws.
"You're a cat, Jade! And I'm a cat! What's happening?!" She turned her glare onto the she-cat.
"I am Oceanstar," The she-cat meowed. "And this is Kindlestar," A red she-cat with black markings appeared out of nowhere.
"We have come to take you to our world- the Warriors world. Yes, it's real. No, the books are not. They are imitations, if you will, based off our Clans, KindleClan, OceanClan, RabbitClan, and LeapingClan. We are bringing you to our Clans because of a great disaster, one even we cannot see clearly. We, at the moment, don't even have a prophecy. You're our only hope, until we know more. Think of it like a backup plan being put into motion, just in case. Once you're done, we'll return you to your Twoleg lives. Unless you'd like to stay," Kindlestar explained.
"Your names will be Evergreen and Greenstone, until you are taken in by KindleClan, when we'll tell Brightstar to make them Pinepaw and Greenpaw. Understood? Your warrior names will be chosen by Brightstar, as normal," Oceanstar flicked her tail towards a glowing white tree with a hollow that seemed to have mist swirling through it. "Jump through the Hollow and begin your new lives."
Evelyn felt like she was in one of those Fanficitons- the ones where people went into the Warrior's world. Which, truth be told, was one of her dreams. It was one of Jade's too, they'd written many a Fanfiction together based off of the idea. Maybe that was why they didn't hesitate jumping through. Or maybe they were just stupid.
Evelyn- Evergreen, now, landed in front of another glowing tree, a mirror image to the one they'd seen in StarClan- she assumed it was StarClan.
"Well, that was one of the craziest things to happen to me for a while," Greenstone meowed. "Let's be off, then. Where would KindleClan be?"
"Maybe the forest? Because kindling? Kind of ominous, but, y'know, it's possible," Evergreen suggested.
"Yeah, we should check there first," Greenstone led the way down the steep rocky incline. "I wonder how they'll react? ThunderClan ripping off collar or Firestar just welcoming Millie?"
"Pretty sure that's not what happened…" Evergreen mumbled, almost tripping on a particularly sharp rock.
"Well, it's been a while since I read the first book; alright? There's way too much to keep track of with Warriors," Greenstone bumped into her playfully, "Cut me some slack!"
"Fine, fine. Which forest should we check? Except for the ocean and those plains over there, this whole territory is just forest," Evergreen pointed out.
"Let's try… the one at the bottom of those mountains, over there," Greenstone pointed with her tail. "It's closer than those huge Redwoods, and it looks more like what ThunderClan was described as. The cats would probably live there, if the book series is really based off of these Clans."
"As good a place as any, I guess," They continued walking until they reached the foot of the mountain, panting and out of breath. They paused there for a while before they continued walking, and after a few more breaks, they finally made it to the edge of the first forest they were visiting.
"You! What are you doing on KindleClan territory?" A dark gray and black tom was approaching them, a brown tom with a bushy tail following.
"So it is KindleClan, I was right!" Greenstone murmured.
"Not right now, Greenstone!" She whisper-hissed, before turning to the cats and trying desperately for a few moments to think of a story. "I- um- we… Both saw cats in our dreams, with stars in their pelts. They told us that something bad was coming to the 'Clans', whatever those are. They said we had to find, umm, KindleClan I think it was? And we had to become KindleClan app-apprentices, to help save the Clans from… uh…" She trailed off, nudging Greenstone.
"From an 'evil that will swallow all cats'? I think that's what she said. She said her name was Kindlestar?" Greenstone looked remarkably convincing considering she'd made up that little snippet of prophecy in a few seconds.
"What do you think, Ruffledbranch?" The black one asked. "You're the deputy; it's your call."
"We'll take them to see Brightstar. Go warn Brightstar we're coming, Duskstorm. And you two; follow me. Also, what are your names?" The brown one- Ruffledbranch, who was apparently the deputy, spoke.
"I'm Greenstone, she's Evergreen," Greenstone said.
"Come with me, then," Ruffledbranch turned and they followed without question. On the (overly long, in her opinion) journey to KindleClan territory, they'd learned they were about six moons, which was why they were so tired. And so small. Ruffledbranch towered over them. They eventually reached a circle of trees, with a small bramble pathway in between. Ruffledbranch led the way in, revealing a clearing full of cats, with ivy-covered dens surrounding it. A large fallen tree branch lay in the center of camp- perhaps that was their Highrock type thing? Evergreen wondered what it was named.
A beautiful orange and yellow she-cat padded towards them. "Who are these loners?"
"They say their names are Evergreen and Greenstone; they want to join our clan," Ruffledbranch explained.
"Hmmm. Well, since Duskstorm explained their story I'll let them stay a bit. A trial, if you will. If they do well as apprentices for three moons they'll be allowed to be full members of the Clan. I'll announce it now," Brightstar turned towards the large tree branch and leapt atop it. "All cats able to hunt their own prey, gather beneath the Tall Branch for a Clan meeting!" She yowled. As Evergreen watched, cats filtered out of dens and looked up from where they were devouring their prey. "We have two loners who wish to join the Clan! BEFORE you start yowling," Brightstar glared at a few cats, "They will not be made full members of the clan immediately; that would be foolish. They will be apprentices for three moons, and if they do well, they will be officially apprenticed for the remaining three moons of their training. Step forward, Evergreen and Greenstone."
Evergreen shivered as she padded forward, she felt like Firestar must've in the books. She sat, curling her tail over her paws- how strange it felt to have a tail!
"Evergreen, you will be now known as Pinepaw. You will be staying in this Clan for a trial period of three moons, and your mentor will be Snowpatch. Snowpatch, you're ready for an apprentice. You have proven yourself to be kind and logical. I hope you pass these traits on to Pinepaw, and teach her everything about the Clans. Greenstone, you will be Greenpaw. You will be staying in this clan for the same trial period. Your mentor will be Peasplash. Peasplash, you've proven yourself to be ready for an apprentice. I hope you pass all your commendable traits on to Greenpaw, and teach her everything about the Clans," Brightstar waited for them to touch noses before continuing. "Clan dismissed!"
