Late one night, Pyria, a woman with black wings and most everything black else was reading quietly in her home. She enjoyed books to the fullest, but that night, something was distracting her.

She could hear weird noises from the town square.

It sounded like running waterfalls.

Irritated, Pyria put on a cloak and wandered outside, her feet tapping on the street, still not as loud as the strange noises. So, she decided to forget about it and flew above the noise until she was able to see easier over the town.

There she saw Nhamashalr, the new known star gazer. He was looking threw a telescope. He also had wings white wings and white hair.

"Ahem!" Pyria interrupted.

Nhamashalr looked up from his work, stopped and gazed at Pyria instead of the stars. Pyria's pink eyes met the green right eye and left blue eye of Nhamashalr.

"What is it, Goth Girll?!" the gazer asked, his right hand on his hip.

Pyria was immediately insulted. "'Goth Girl'?!"

"Hold on!" Nhamashalr said as he turned a device off next to him. "As far as I know, this town has a neighborhood goth girl and you fit the bill,"

"You haven't been here very long, haven't you?"

"Yes, why?"

"I haven't been around here long, either. And I resent people calling me, 'goth'. But I guess I can't complain. You're 'Star Boy'."

"'Star Boy'?"

"Yes! You were rather annoying right now, with whatever that is and all. I could hardly hear my own thoughts as I read!"

"You mean that when you hear loud noises, you can't concentrate on your reading?"

"Yeah! And it was such a good book, I've been waiting all day long just to read it!"

"Oh! I'm sorry!" Nhamashalr said, sarcastically. "I'll work more during the day, than. Although it'll be harder because stars are easier to see at night."

Pyria put a finger to her lip. "What sort of job do you do?"

"Look at the stars!" Nhamashalr told her as he stretched out an arm. "Right now, I've been looking for exoplanets. They're planets similar to Earth. Somtimes I put on this noise machine to scare away any distractions. People, wildlife, the like. Only the 'waterfalls' are designed to confuse everybody, not anything else."

Pyria was moved. "Really?! Wow. That sounds important! Don't worry, I won't stop you. I actually enjoy the sound of waterfalls, as long as we put our heads together and don't bother each other."

Nhamashalr grinned. "Thanks! So! You like books, too, right?"

"Of course!"

"What else do you like?"

"Flowers!"

"Hmm. What kind of flowers?"

"My favorite are black lilies!"

Nhamashalr snapped his right finger.

"I know a place with lots of black lilies!" Nhamashalr said as he gently grabbed her arm and lead her away.

The sun was rising as Pyria and Nhamashalr arrived at a field-a black field.

Lilies-black lilies-swayed in the breeze.

Pyria knelt on the ground and sniffed one. "How did you figure out where this place was?"

"Black stars," Nhamashalr said. "Stars that only exist in theory. I was searching for something real. Something I could trust. And, well, I found these.

Then Nhamashalr took Pyria's hands in his and said, "And she since you like them, and you dress like the black of night, I like you, too!"

Pyria turned and blushed. "Why, I must say that I think I like you, too! Only I want to go slower. Much slower. That okay, Nhamashalr?"

Nhamashalr let go of her hands. "Good idea, Pyria. Me, too."

Pyria noticed the sun over the horizon. "Hey. Wanna watch a sunrise with me?"

Nhamashalr noticed it, too. "Yes, the sun! One of the only celestial things seen easily during the day. Let's go!"

So, Pyria and Nhamashalr flew hand in hand towards the waking circle, the beginnings of a beautiful relationship budding like the stars and flowers themselves. Even the books.
