WHEN NEWS SPREAD that a handful of Fairy Tail members had gone missing, Fiore had been devastated.
They were beloved members of the community. Everyone knew of them, and they had
many allies within the magical community as well. Though, for a twelve year old Dragon Slayer to see that her half brother and grandfather were among that group, she had begun to think that she would never be able to reconcile with her family.
Not that they even knew she existed. No, she had lived with the Raven Tail guild for as long as she could remember. Even when she mentioned Fairy Tail slightly her father cut her off - telling her it was time to train, or to warn her never to utter that guild name ever again. She knew that Laxus and Makarov Dreyar were her family and yet… her father wanted nothing to do with them. With his son, or his own father.
Mitsuki Dreyar never got the full story on why her father loathed the Fairy Tail guild so much. She knew that he got expelled, that was all he ever ranted about when they were alone when she asked, but otherwise she had no clue why the guild was loathed.
So when the guild members had disappeared, her father was very much overjoyed.
Growing up with no news of the guild members left a sour taste in Mitsuki's mouth. It was like losing people she was close to, even though they had no clue who she even was. She had thought about just running away and going to them, blurting out that she was Makarov's granddaughter and Laxus' half sister. Though whether or not they would believe her would be the question.
Now, six, almost years later, there are still no signs of the members. Every now and then she would look at the paper to make sure. She knew that some light guilds were looking for them, hoping that they're Island would show up. Though she knew her father would never allow Raven Tail to look for them.
As much as she would like to join in on the searches.
"Mitsuki!" A bubbly girl called, causing Mitsuki to shake her head and turn towards the voice. A small smile showed on her face as a red-headed girl rushed forward, giving her a grin as she held up a job. "Let's go on this one! Please?!" The girl pleaded, making Mitsuki laugh.
"Sure Flare," she agreed, earning a cheer from the girl. Flare was Mitsuki's only friend at the guild. At least, the only person she would be seen hanging out with often. She considered her a sister, and had felt sorry for her when her father initiated her into the guild. Having lost her family and needing a place to stay, and a friend.
Glancing over to the side she could see her father watching her, and she couldn't help but shiver. It was an uneasy type of feeling that it gave her, and she knew that she should love her father - but she couldn't help but grow a hint of resentment towards the man. All Mitsuki had ever wanted was for him to show her that he cared about her, more than just a lapdog that he uses to show the other guilds his strength.
All she ever got in return, though, was loneliness. She never got praise, and the little amount of praise she did get was for the guild and nothing else.
A little bit of hope in her formed that the Fairy Tail guild members would return. If they did, maybe she'd finally get a semblance of peace… her father better watch out, because she was going to use any sort of means to escape this horrific place.
Especially once the members of Fairy Tail suddenly show up again.
A YEAR LATER
HEAVING A HEAVY SIGH, Mistsuki plopped herself down at a table in the guild. With her salisbury steak and mashed potato meal in hand, and her beverage of a pink lemonade she began to chow down. She had just gotten home from a rather grueling job that her father had forced her to take with one of the newbies, and she was exhausted - having had to take up the majority of the load. They weren't even strong enough to defend themself half the time, and Mitsuki had to make sure they didn't kill themselves in the process.
She was getting rather tired of orientating the newbies. That had been her job as of recently, and she barely got the time to hang out with Flare, or even have alone time. It was like her father was forcing her to keep busy so that she had nothing else planned and while usually she wouldn't mind that, she knew that he had something up his sleeve that he was keeping from her - and forcing her out of the guild was a sure way of being able to keep said secret.
Members of the guild were whispering to one another, though there was one table that was being loud enough that she could overhear with her dragon slayer hearing. So, doing her second favorite thing, she tuned out the rest of the guild to listen to that table - which, thankfully, was across from her.
A group of newer wizards were gathered around the table, though Mitsuki recognized one of them as Inaba Momoru. He was a Shadow Wizard, someone that her father had taken an extreme liking to because of his brute power and magical strength. He was more on the mysterious side, though Mitsuki really had no desire to get to know him better… much like the rest of the guild that wasn't Flare.
"Did you hear?" One of the wizards murmured, trying not to be overheard… oh, but Mitsuki heard every word they were saying. They all forgot she was a dragon slayer. "They found the members of Fairy Tail that were lost." That made her heart stop as she tried not to react.
Inaba scoffed as he took the paper, scanning his eyes on the contents. "They've been missing for seven years. How the hell are they still alive?" That was what Mitsuki would love to know. If this was true, how was it that they were alive now?
The other member shrugged, snatching the paper back from the man. "Who knows? But they're back. Do you think the Master knows?" He was quiet, and Mitsuki winced at that thought. If her father knew he was being exceptionally quiet about it.
Though it would make sense as to why he was forcing her to keep busy, if he already knew that they were found and he didn't want her to know.
"If he doesn't he'll know soon," Inaba said grimly, shaking his head. From the corner of her eye Mitsuki could see him glancing over at her, but she did her best not to look at him as she continued to eat. "Now be quiet. There's some members that the Master doesn't want to know they're back." He hushed the other member, who promptly shut up. Mitsuki rolled her eyes at that comment, now knowing her theory was probably correct.
"Mitsukiiiii!" A familiar feminine voice called, causing the girl to glance up to see Flare walking over to her - though she had a serious look on her face. "Come with me," Flare grabbed a hold of her wrist.
"Wait, Flare!" But Flare wasn't waiting on anything as she pulled Mitsuki out of the guild. Her half-eaten Salisbury Steak sitting at the table. Mitsuki allowed Flare to pull her farther and farther away from the guild until they made it to their secret place, where they can talk without any of the other members interfering. With a sigh, Mitsuki blew a strand of her pink hair out of her face as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Okay, Flare, what's up?" She asked her, raising an eyebrow.
Flare made a show of biting the inside of her cheek. "The Fairy Tail guild members are back. I saw them myself," she said honestly, causing Mitsuki's eyes to widen in shock. "And… and Flare thinks you should go. Now, preferably." She states, and Mitsuki bit her lip at that.
"I considered it when I overheard the others talk about it," she admitted, rubbing her arm up and down with her hand. "But my father… if he finds out, he'll be pissed. He doesn't even want me to know that I know they're alive and back." Mitsuki knew that bad things would happen if her father was to learn that she knew about the Fairy Tail guild members being back.
"Go!" Flare insists, giving her friend an innocent look. "I want you to be happy, and I know you're not here."
They have a staring contest for a few moments. If Mitsuki was being honest, she was a little nervous leaving Raven Tail - but she knew what Flare said was right. Mitsuki wasn't happy here. Her father treated her like a rag-doll, something that could be used and thrown away - only to be taken out of the trash when he needed her. He's done it time and time again, and she was tired of being treated that way. She wanted to be treated with respect, and Mitsuki knew that she'd never get that here.
"Are… are you coming with me?" Mitsuki asked tentatively, knowing the answer to that already.
Flare frowned, shaking her head. "It would be too suspicious if we were both to go missing from the guild," she sighed. "I want to, I can't bear the thought of being away from you - you're my best friend, Suki. But you have to go by yourself. Now, while they are pre-occupied with other things. Don't worry, I'll tell them you're on a job or something - so that it stalls them longer." She gives her a pleading look. "Just go, now." She shoves Mitsuki forward, causing the Dreyar girl to stumble a little bit.
"Okay, okay. I'll miss you, Flare," Mitsuki brought the flame-haired girl into a hug, hugging her for a long few minutes before pulling away. "I promise to find a way to get you out of the guild." With a final look at her long-time friend she walked away.
Walking towards her fathers enemy.
Walking towards the next chapter of her life.
And all the while, she can't help but think, man I wish I can see the look on my fathers face when he finally realizes I ran away and towards the guild he loathes more than anything.
