Chapter 7: The Vassal Weapons and The Next Wave
On the Cardinal Alliance's Space Station
The four heroines were meeting with Chieko, the representative from Shieldfreeden. She has just asked the Cardinal Heroines to help save her nation from the Aotatsu.
"Aotatsu? What are they?"
Amy asked.
"They are a race of dragon demi-humans, Amy. After the last war, they took many of the open seats in the Siltvelt's and Shieldfreeden's government."
Peach answered.
"I see you know about them and the threat they pose, Lady Peach."
Chieko said.
"Just what Queen Mirellia has told me. We are going to need more details though, if we are going to help you with your problem."
"Of course, I will tell you all I know."
"Excuse me, do you mind explaining the Aotatsu to us? We still don't have an understanding of the situation."
Zelda said with Krystal and Amy nodding in agreement.
"Allow me to explain. As Lady Peach said, the Aotatsu are a race of dragon demi-humans who found their way into power after the war the former king of Siltvelt started. Their efforts to gain total control in Siltvelt are being halted by the Genmu, Shusaku, Hakuko, and Prime Minister Trinock. Shieldfreeden, however, is a different story. Many leading council members were killed in the war, and the Aotatsu took their place after the war ended. With the death of the previous council member, they now control six of the twelve seats. With half of the council under their control, they are making moves to try and change the main religion in Shieldfreeden from the Shield's faith to the Dragon's faith."
"And what is the difference between the two faiths?"
Krystal asked.
"There are many, but the two main differences that cause the most problems is the belief of Aotatsu superiority and the belief that the Cardinal Heroes are unnecessary and should be gotten rid of or put under the control of the Aotatsu."
This came as a shock to three of the four heroines. From what they've been able to gather, the Cardinal Heroes are seen as gods in most religions. They are the only ones capable of defeating the Waves of Calamity. To hear that there is a religion that treats Cardinal Heroes as pawns or garbage was a surprise.
"I see, I understand how a religion that treats the Cardinal Heroes as unnecessary could be problematic, especially when trying to fight the waves, but can you tell us what "Aotatsu superiority" means? Does it just mean that they think every other species is lower than them?"
"If only, Lady Krystal. If the faith of the dragon were to become the main religion while the Aotatsu has a majority over Shieldfreeden's government, then they would attempt to enslave all other species."
"What!?"
The four heroines said in shock.
"Yes, the faith of the dragon dictates that the Aotatsu are the supreme race of the world, and all others are to be subservient to them. That is why the Aotatsu were so quick to support Siltvelt's king, King Rohaw when he decided to go to war with the other nations of the world. It was a benefit to them no matter the outcome. If they won, they now had new lands and slaves to build the Aotatsu empire they wanted. If they lost, then both Siltvelt and Shieldfreeden would lose many of their ruling nobles, leaving the Aotatsu to swoop in and steal those positions of power."
"It sounds like they've been planning this for a while now."
"Oh yes, they have, Lady Amy. The Aotatsu has always been making the push to change the main religion to the dragon faith and for Siltvelt and Shieldfreeden to abandon the Shield Hero. They've always been a nuisance because of this, but thanks to their recent power grab they are now a threat. They have half of the council seats of Shieldfreeden's government and are making plans to acquire the others. Even now, I know they have spies watching me and the other representatives. That is why I need your help, Cardinal Heroines."
"I'm surprised they were able to do that. Even if they have more seats in the council, wouldn't the people of Shieldfreeden push back against them for trying to make such drastic changes?"
Peach asked.
"They would, but many, if not all, of the Aotatsu's attempts to help the people are successful. While our attempts all end in failure. I believe they are getting help from a third party."
"Do you have any ideas on who this third party might be?"
Krystal asked.
"I have two suspects right now, but I need evidence first. So, when you sync with the other hourglasses tomorrow, I want you to speak with the Claw Hero and the Whip Hero."
"Huh? I thought there were only four cardinal heroes."
Amy said in confusion. Chieko was shocked to hear this.
"Do you not know of the vassal weapons?"
The four heroines shook their heads at Chieko's question.
"I see, allow me to explain. In addition to the four cardinal weapons, there are vassal weapons. The Claw and the Whip are two of them, and their wielders are in Siltvelt and Shieldfreeden."
"I see, and how many vassal weapons are there?"
"According to our old texts, there are eight vassal weapons, Lady Peach. However, many scholars and rulers today dismiss the texts as only seven of the weapons have been found and are called the Seven Star Weapons. I only know the location of three right now. The Whip is in Shieldfreeden, The Claw is in Siltvelt, and lastly, The Staff is in Melromarc."
"And what do these weapons do, Chieko? Are they as strong as the cardinal weapons?"
"While not as strong as the cardinal weapons, they function the same though. Granting their wielders access to status magic, and growing stronger by absorbing monster parts into the gems located on the weapons."
"I see, and why do you want us to speak with the Claw and Whip Heroes?"
"Ever since The Whip Hero was chosen, the Aotatsu's endeavors in taking control of Shieldfreeden have been successful. While all the other council members attempt to stop them end in disaster. I also believe he may be responsible for the death of the previous council member."
"Okay, and what is his name?"
"He goes by Takt. You'll meet when you synchronize with our hourglass. He's been very vocal about meeting the Cardinal Heroes."
"Well, we'll be sure to greet him then."
Amy said.
"Now, why do you want us to meet the Claw Hero? What does he have to do with what's going on in Shieldfreeden?"
Krystal asked.
"Nothing, but he has been acting strange these past couple of weeks. His name is Rhubaldt Warbaldt, and he is a wolf demi-human who is capable of transforming into a werewolf."
"That's interesting. Can all wolf demi-humans do that?"
"No, Lady Krystal, only a few demi-humans can transform like that. They are called therianthropes, and almost all who possess this ability become very strong fighters."
"Okay, that makes sense. And you said he's been acting weird lately?"
"Yes, Lady Amy. You see, he's a dedicated fighter, even before he was the Claw Hero. He would take trips into the wilderness to train, but when he came back from his latest training trip, he changed. He loves spicy food, but ever since then, he hasn't eaten anything spicy. My spies even tell me he refuses any spicy dish that is offered to him."
"That is strange, but are you sure this is something to be concerned about? Maybe he's changing his diet to be healthier?"
"I would like to believe that, Lady Zelda. But the fact that this change happened without a trip to a doctor or a healer makes me believe that the Rhubaldt currently in Siltvelt is a fake. I want you to speak with him to find out."
"Okay, and how exactly are we supposed to find out? And besides his sudden change in eating habits, why do you believe he is a fake?"
"Well, Lady Peach, my spies tell me the magic aura coming from him feels familiar. Specifically, it feels like kitsune illusion magic."
The heroines gasped at this revelation.
"Can your people do that, Chieko?"
Peach asked. Chieko smiled and snapped her fingers. In a flash of blue fire, she transformed into Peach.
"As you can see, Lady Peach, not only can we change our appearance we can also change our voice. If I were to watch and study your habits for a while, then I would be able to impersonate you perfectly."
Chieko said as she transformed back into her normal form. The four heroines talked amongst themselves for a bit.
"Wait here."
Peach said as she left the room. When she got out she turned to Tails.
"I know what you're going to ask, and the answer is yes. We can make a device that can both detect and dispel illusions."
"But we're going to need data first. We need to scan Chieko, or any other kitsune while they use the illusion ability."
Tails and Purah said.
"So, that means she's going to have to see the rest of the base, right?"
Peach asked.
"Just the main part, where we will be doing the scanning. The other four arms are for when you four split off to handle the waves from around the world."
Tails explained. Peach pondered on this for a bit. She then went into the dining room.
"Krystal, may I speak with you for a moment?"
Krystal left with Peach, leaving Amy and Zelda with Chieko.
"Is there something wrong, Lady Amy?"
"No, Chieko. They're just discussing how best to handle the situation."
Amy answered, but she was also unsure as to what Peach was planning. With Krystal and Peach.
"So, Krystal, what do you think of Chieko? Can we trust her?"
"I sensed no malice or deceit coming from her during our conversation. I believe we can trust her."
"So, do you think we can trust her with seeing the base? Tails, Purah, and Slippy can make a device to detect and dispel kitsune illusions, but they need to scan her or some other kitsune while they use the illusion magic."
"I see. Hmm, I believe we can trust her with that information. She doesn't seem to want to control us and genuinely wants our help."
"Okay then, let me just check something. Tails, can you check on Mirellia for me?"
"Sure thing. Let me just pull up the guardian we have in Faubrey."
Tails said as he began to type into the console.
"What are you doing, Peach?"
"If we're going to trust Chieko with the secret of our base, I believe we should extend the same courtesy to Mirellia. She was honest in our conversation and is willing to help us with dealing with her idiotic husband and that racist cult in Melromarc."
Peach explained to Krystal. Krystal nodded and thought it would be a good idea. From the information their drones gathered, Mirellia and Chieko were great diplomats and negotiators. Having them on their side could help with the more troubling rulers. Namely, Faubrey and Trinock, as they had either eyes of lust or greed when they saw the heroines.
"Okay, Peach. She's in her room along with her daughter."
Tails explained as he enlarged the picture on the screen to show Mirellia with a little girl who also had purple hair.
"Can you teleport them here?"
"With the guardian drone, I can. Let me just contact them."
Tails made the guardian they had in Mirellia's room turn off its invisibility and make contact.
"Hello, Mirellia."
Tails said through the guardian. Mirellia and the little girl jumped up in shock. Mirellia placed the child behind her while she prepared an ice attack.
"What are you!? Why are you here!?"
She demanded. Tails rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Right, should've taken into account how she would've reacted."
"Tails, let me speak to her."
Peach said.
"Mirellia, there is no need to fear."
"That voice, is that you, Lady Peach?"
"Yes, this is one of the scouts we sent out to get information."
"I see, I didn't even know it was here. With an army of these, you could discover everyone's secrets."
"We could, but that's not why I contacted you today. Mirellia, we have decided to let you see our base in the sky."
"What, really?"
"Yes, we would need help in the diplomatic area of this world and you have proven yourself trustworthy. Do you accept?"
"Of course, Lady Peach."
"Good, and the child?"
"Oh, this is my second daughter and heir to the throne, Melty Q. Melromarc."
Mirellia said as Melty came out from behind her mother to greet the heroine.
"Hello, Lady Peach, I am Melty. Second princess and heir to the throne."
"So you're the heir instead of your older sister. I'm assuming Malty's bad habits helped make that decision."
"Yes, Lady Peach. Despite my best efforts to correct her awful behavior, she still commits terrible and bratty acts. I could not leave the throne to her, she would run Melromarc into the ground."
"I see, I see. Well, Princess Melty, would you also like to come along?"
"What? Me too?"
"Yes, I'm assuming that you being here with your mother during her diplomatic meetings means she is also training you to one day take her place. If that is the case, then I extend the same offer to you as well."
"Yes, Lady Peach, I need her to know the harsh battles of diplomacy. Plus, I refuse to let my idiot husband take any part in raising her. He was too soft with Malty, and that has led to how she is today."
Mirellia said while showing signs of frustration.
"Yes, that makes sense. Well then, if you are ready, just hold onto the small drone and we'll bring you two here."
The two did as instructed and placed their hands on the small guardian. Soon, they were surrounded by a blue light and teleported into the dining room with Amy, Zelda, and Chieko.
"What is this!?"
Chieko asked in shock. Both Amy and Zelda were confused as well until Peach came in with Krystal to explain everything.
"I apologize for their sudden appearance, but both you and Queen Mirellia have proven to be trustworthy allies."
"I don't understand, what do you mean, Lady Peach?"
Chieko asked.
"Despite all the power we have, we still need help in this new world, especially in the diplomatic area."
"I see, and you have decided that we can help you with that. I hope to prove worthy of your trust."
"I'm sure you will. Now, to show faith and trust, we will show you our base."
Chieko was excited by this.
"But first, Mirellia, what do you know of the Claw Hero?"
"Not much, Lady Peach."
"Chieko, since she will also be aiding us, I believe she should know what you told us about him."
Chieko thought on this for a bit. This information was sensitive and she didn't know if she should trust anyone besides the heroines with it. But Mirellia has proven to truly want peace with her actions. Making a peace treaty with Siltvelt and creating the village of Lurolona for free demi-humans. She finally decided that it would be best to trust her.
"Very well, but this stays here, Queen Mirellia. What I'm about to tell you can't leave this room."
"I understand, Lady Chieko."
Chieko then explained what she had learned about the Claw Hero. Mirellia was silently pondering over this new information.
"This is troubling, Lady Chieko. If your assumption is correct, then we are dealing with someone with a terrifying ability."
"How so?"
Amy asked.
"When a wielder of a vassal weapon perishes, the weapon will either go into a state of dormancy or fly off to find another wielder. If anyone who is deemed unworthy tries to wield the weapon, they will be shocked into letting go."
Chieko explained.
"So that means?"
"It means if the imposter can wield the Vassal Claw, then we are dealing with someone with the ability to steal the vassal weapons, and possibly the cardinal weapons as well."
While shocked, the four heroines didn't seem too concerned about this.
"If that's the case, then we'll just have to stop them."
Peach declared.
"I admire your courage, but you should be careful when confronting this foe. They could steal your weapons from you mid-fight."
Mirellia warned.
"That's fine, we were strong fighters before we became Cardinal Heroes. In fact, Amy would get the most benefit if they took the shield."
"Yeah, if they do that, it's hammer time!"
Amy said as she thrust her fist into the air. Seeing the confident looks of the heroines put the other three at ease.
"Very well, I see we have nothing to worry about. Now, you said we could see your base."
"Of course, right this way."
Peach said as she led the group out of the room. When Chieko, Mirellia, and Melty saw the rest of the base, their minds were blown. Technological advancements they didn't believe possible. Not only that but all the people. They saw many different races working together in harmony. Another surprise was the location of the base, when Melty looked out the window she saw the stars.
"Mother, look!"
Melty called out. Both Mirellia and Chieko went to the balcony and were astonished by what they saw. They were above the planet, floating amongst the stars.
"Unbelievable. To think something like this is possible."
"Not for us, Chieko. We could never hope to create something like this."
Mirellia said, but Peach just giggled at this.
"Maybe not now, but with time, your people may be able to build wonderous constructs like this."
"Hmm, you're right Peach. Maybe one day we too will reach the stars.
"I'm rooting for you. Chieko, our tech experts are working on a device to detect and dispel kitsune illusions, but we'll need your help."
"What do you need from me?"
"We just need to scan you while you use the magic so we have proper data on it."
Tails said as he walked towards the group.
"Oh my, who is this young tod?"
Chieko asked with interest.
"Hello there. My name is Miles Prower, but most people call me Tails."
"I'm assuming because of your two tails."
Melty said pointing towards Tails' tails.
"Yeah, it's one of the things that makes me unique. Now, Miss Chieko, if you'll come with me."
Tails led Chieko to the area they set up to scan the four heroines and the weapons they had. He, Purah, and Slippy modified it to scan for magic now. Once Chieko took her place, Tails flew above the scanner to make some changes. Much to Chieko's surprise.
"Oh my! You can fly with your tails?"
"Yeah, I learned how to during the adventures I had with Sonic."
"Oh, you mean that blue fellow from the meeting earlier."
"Yeah, he's my best friend."
"Really now? That's interesting considering you're so young."
"Well, Sonic is not that much older than me. It's just that he aged with the level-up system of this world. Like Amy did."
"Ah, that makes sense."
"Alright, it's ready."
"Good, now, Miss Chieko, if you could use your transformation magic."
Purah asked. Chieko did that while the scanner collected data on the magic. While this was happening, Mirellia and Melty were being given a tour of the base by Peach. They were amazed by everything she was showing them. Soon, she showed the monitor they use to gather information.
"Such advanced technology. You can see everything your small scouts see."
Mirellia said in awe.
"Yep, this is how we stay ahead of our enemies. Thanks to this, we already learned about the king's next plot."
Mirellia frowned when she heard this.
"My husband is already plotting another scheme against you?"
"Unfortunately, Queen Mirellia. He called us earlier today to apologize for his actions and even gave us silver as compensation. But it was all a ruse to get into our good graces. He and that bratty princess, no offense."
"None taken."
"Are planning to frame Amy again and are trying to turn me against her. They are dead set on having me be their pawn."
"Well, Lady Peach, according to my shadows, your stats are the highest among the heroines and you have a plethora of magic affinities. Any kingdom would want you as an ally. No doubt, my husband and that damn cult believe that if you are on their side nothing could stop them."
Peach nodded at this. Remembering when she and the others visited the magic shop a few days ago.
"Well, we won't fall for their schemes. We are already making countermeasures and are preparing a team to infiltrate the cathedral."
"Thank you for your aid, Cardinal Heroines."
"No need to thank us yet. Wait until we take out that cult."
"Very well."
"Now, it's time to send you back. Remember, what you saw here stays between us. We trust you three won't go speaking of this to anyone."
"Of course, we won't speak a word of this to anyone."
"I will not betray your trust, Cardinal Heroines."
Mirellia and Chieko said while Melty smiled and nodded with them.
"Good, now here."
Peach handed them some badges.
"What are these?"
"These are badges that are connected to the base. As long as you have them on your person, we'll be able to teleport you up here."
"I see, thank you very much."
The three diplomats bowed in gratitude.
"Alright, send them back, Tails."
"You got it."
Tails activated the console and sent the three back to their locations. Mirellia and Melty to their room and Chieko back to her private study. When they arrived, Mirellia's shadows came out and asked what happened to her and her daughter. Mirellia just told them that she had a private meeting with the heroines. Chieko noticed that whatever presence was watching her was now gone. She hoped that nothing bad would come of this.
In an alleyway nearby, we see a woman in ninja attire walking quickly to a secluded spot. Once she made sure no one was around, she pulled out a crystal ball and activated it.
"Lord Takt, I have news regarding the kitsune council member."
"What happened, Melrith?"
"She appears to have had a private meeting with the Cardinal Heroines, Lord Takt."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, she was teleported away in the same manner the heroines teleport."
"I see, their teleportation skill is different and seems to be superior to the one the hourglass gives you. I need to learn where they obtained this skill."
"It's not a skill, Lord Takt. From what I've seen, it seems to be the equipment they have that gives them this skill."
"What, how did you find this out?"
"Chieko was teleported once she grabbed hold of the device the heroines gave her."
"I see, then we'll need to get our hands on that equipment as well. It would be better in the hands of a true hero. Don't you agree?"
"Of course, Lord Takt. There are none more worthy of than you."
"That's right, I'll be sure to greet them once they arrive in Shieldfreeden."
"Should I return as well?"
"Hmm, yes, now that the heroines are going to the other kingdoms, the possibility of an all-out war against Melromarc is gone."
"Trinock of Siltvelt still seems eager to start a war with Melromarc."
"Yes, no doubt he still holds a grudge from the past war and seeks revenge against the Staff Hero Aultcray."
"Are we to move if and when Siltvelt declares war against Melromarc?"
"Yes, I am eager to add another weapon to my collection. But for now, we wait. Return at once, Melrith."
"Yes, Lord Takt."
The crystal ball turned off and Melrith left to join Takt in Shieldfreeden.
In Shieldfreeden, the next morning
Chieko is in front of the Church of the Shield, where their hourglass is stored. Along with her are the other council members and a welcoming party of citizens waiting for their famed Shield God. Standing nearby is Takt, the Whip Hero, and his harem. Chieko then turned to address the citizens.
"Now remember, the Shield Hero will be arriving along with the other three heroes."
The crowd began to murmur in disgust. The faith of the Shield often spoke of the Spear, Sword, and Bow as demons. They did not want the other three heroes coming here, but that's when Chieko spoke up.
"I can understand your distrust of the other heroes since our religion depicts them as demons, but I have met them and they are not like anything our faith depicts them as."
The crowd was still unconvinced about this idea.
"The Shield Goddess, Amy Rose, is good friends with the other heroes. She has stated that if they were to face any discrimination here, she would abandon Shieldfreeden."
The crowd suddenly became panicked over the idea of the Shield abandoning them to the waves. Many began to express doubt that the Shield God would do that. Some began to state that the Spear, Sword, and Bow demons may have brainwashed her to think that they were allies. But Chieko quickly dismisses these ideas, stating that they are all good friends and stand by each other. She even used the rigged trial of the Shield Heroine as proof of their comradery. The crowd begrudgingly accepted this and all agreed not to say anything hateful or derogatory to the other three heroes. Once Chieko was convinced no one would try anything stupid, she pushed the button she was given to summon the heroines. Eight figures of blue light appeared next to Chieko, and once it dissipated it was revealed to be the Four Cardinal Heroines and their right hands.
"Hello, Chieko."
Amy greeted.
"Hello, Lady Amy, and hello to you all as well. Welcome to Shieldfreeden."
The crowd began to cheer after that, but Peach, Krystal, and Zelda could tell that it was all for Amy. Many of the people were cheering for the Shield Goddess while wearing rosaries in the shape of a shield. Still, this was to be expected, as long as none of them were calling them demons they were fine with this. That's when Krystal noticed many of the citizens staring at her.
"Look at the Sword, she's a demi."
"That's strange."
"Does that mean she's not the demon our faith depicts her as?"
"Perhaps this Sword Hero is here to atone for the sins of her predecessors."
A few citizens said amongst themselves. Krystal took note of how they reacted to her being a similar race to them. With Amy, she was meeting with the rest of the council members. The ones who greeted her were a shusaku woman, a hakuko man, a cat man, a wolf man, and finally, a tanooki woman. The other six members were aotatsu and just gave Amy unimpressed glares.
"Now that greetings are done, come, the hourglass is this way."
Chieko said as she led the four heroines and their friends into the church. Once inside they were guided by the head priest of the church to the hourglass. He was a large bear man and seemed to be kind, but Krystal could sense his contempt for Peach and Zelda. His feelings for Krystal were confused.
"It appears that being a demi-human in their eyes makes them hesitant to call me a demon despite my position as the Sword Hero."
Krystal thought. Soon they reached the hourglass. The four held out their weapons and a ray of light was shot into the gems of the weapons. The four pulled up their status screens to check how much time was left before Shieldfreeden's wave.
"Okay, so it appears the next wave to strike Shieldfreeden will happen in sixteen days."
Peach said.
"So Melromarc's is still the closest then?"
Krystal asked, receiving a nod from Peach. They had already synchronized with Zeltoble's and Faubrey's hourglass and got their times. Melromarc's was the closest with nine days, then Shieldfreeden, after that Zeltoble, and finally Faubrey's wave. Now, the heroines and their allies could prepare for the waves. When they left the church, they were greeted by a blond man with a group of women with him.
"Hello there, Cardinal Heroines."
The man said politely.
"Oh, it's you, Takt. Have you come to meet the Cardinal Heroines?"
Chieko asked.
"Of course, after hearing about their arrival, I made my way here as soon as possible."
"I see, Lady Amy, Lady Peach, Lady Krystal, and Lady Zelda, allow me to introduce Takt, the Whip Hero."
Takt gave a two-finger salute to the four. Peach was the first to greet him.
"Hello there, I am Peach, the Spear Hero."
"Hello, I am Krystal, the Sword Hero."
"I am Zelda, the Bow Hero."
"And I am Amy Rose, the Shield Hero."
"Nice to meet you. Now, how about we head to a bar to talk for a bit? I'm sure there is much for us to discuss."
"While that sounds nice, Takt, we must refuse. We still need to synchronize with Siltvelt's hourglass."
Peach explained.
"I see, then perhaps later then. After all, I know how to treat beautiful women like yourselves. I'm sure I can satisfy all your needs."
Takt said with a wink and an arrogant smile. This just made Amy grab onto Sonic's arm.
"Sorry, but I already have my Sonic."
Amy said, causing Sonic to blush a bit.
"Ah, I see. Then what about you three? Would you like to,"
"Sorry."
Peach interrupted while she grabbed Mario, with Zelda and Krystal doing the same with Link and Fox.
"As you can see, we're all taken. But we should meet up sometime to discuss a strategy for fighting the waves. We are going to be working together after all."
"You're right, Lady Peach. Until next time then."
The four heroines said their goodbyes to Chieko before they were surrounded by blue light and teleported away. Takt was walking away when one of his harem members approached him.
"I can't believe they would refuse a man of your caliber like that. The nerve of those women!"
His harem member said.
"Don't worry about it, Ellie. I'll bring them around once I take their weapons."
Takt said.
"So I take it the Cardinal Heroines have caught your interest, Lord Takt."
An aotatsu woman of his group asked.
"Of course, they were all so beautiful. Heck, the Spear and Bow could pass for princesses. Once I take their weapons, I'll have Tulina "convince" them to join our group. I can't wait to have them."
Takt had a lustful look on his face that the others noticed. The women began to get jealous of the attention the four heroines were getting from Takt.
"Now don't worry girls, I have enough love for all of you. Besides, don't you think it would be fun to liberate those women from those idiots they had with them?"
"Of course, Lord Takt. You are obviously superior to those losers. The fact that they chose them over you proves they need to be liberated."
A woman with a large chest, dragon wings, and a tail answered.
"Right, but let's watch for now, see what they can do. Oh, and contact Tulina and let her know the Cardinal Heroines are on their way to Siltvelt."
Melrith nodded and began to do that.
In Siltvelt
Trinock was in the Church of the Shield Hero, standing in the main hall.
"Everything is ready, Lord Trinock."
The pope of the church said. He was an ox demi-human wearing a religious robe, with long horns and a large snout.
"Good, Ozsan. I don't want to keep the Shield Goddess and her "friends" waiting."
Trinock said in an annoyed tone. While he was willing to tolerate the other three heroes, he'd rather they stay out of Siltvelt. But he was already thinking of ways to get all four heroines to stay and fight for Siltvelt, or to see if he could get Amy to turn on the other three heroines and give Siltvelt sole access to the technology she possesses. With everything ready, Trinock pushed the button and four figures appeared in a flash of blue light.
"Hello, Lord Trinock. Is everything ready?"
Amy asked.
"Of course, Lady Amy. Our hourglass is ready for synchronization."
"Please, allow me to guide you to the hourglass."
Ozsan said.
"Oh, who is this?"
"Ah, forgive me, Lady Amy. This is Grand Patriarch Ozsan, the current head of our church."
Trinock answered.
"It's an honor to meet the legendary Shield Goddess."
Ozsan said with a bow.
"And?"
Amy said with her arms crossed. Ozsan was confused until he remembered the other three heroines.
"And the other heroines as well. It's a pleasure to meet you all."
Ozsan quickly corrected himself. Amy was annoyed, but Peach just grabbed her shoulder while shaking her head. Letting Amy know to just let it go. With a huff Amy and the other three along with their allies followed Ozsan to the hourglass. As they were walking, Peach noticed a painting on the wall. It depicted a man with a shield facing off with three large demons, each one holding a different weapon. One with a spear, one with a bow, and one with a sword.
"Ah, I see you've noticed one of our priceless paintings, Lady Spear. This one depicts the Shield Hero bravely fighting against the three great demons of the Spear, the Sword, and the Bow."
Ozsan explained. While Amy and the others were disgusted by this, having flashbacks of the Three Heroes Church, Peach was interested.
"I see, and what can you tell me about the three demons."
"Each demon possesses one of the demonic weapons and uses them to carry out their evil acts. The Spear Demon is driven by insatiable lust and uses his power to capture young women to defile and fill them with his demonic seed. The Sword Demon is the greediest of them all and takes everything from others. And finally, the Bow has excessive pride and forces all to bend to his will."
"How interesting."
Amy said in a sarcastic tone.
"Peach, why do you want to know about this?"
Krystal asked.
"Well, think about it. Remember how the religion back in Melromarc states that the Shield Hero is a demon bent on destruction?"
"Yeah."
"Well, if we combine it with these depictions of the other three heroes we find something very interesting."
"Like what?"
Zelda asked.
"The Shield is about destruction; wrath. The Spear has insatiable lust. The Sword is the greediest. And the Bow has the greatest pride. Four of the deadly sins."
The three heroines and their allies were shocked by this revelation.
"All legends, even those that sound greatly exaggerated, stem from a kernel of truth. Perhaps sometime in the past, the four Cardinal Heroes succumbed to these deadly sins and became demons."
"That's quite the theory, Peach."
Krystal said.
"Yes, but if giving into these sins brings out demonic power, does practicing virtues bring out divine power?"
"Sounds like something we'll have our specialists check."
Amy said, making sure to make a mental note to have Tails and the others check the weapons for this. That is when Trinock spoke up.
"I'm glad to see you've taken an interest in our religion, but that sounds like a problem for another time. It would be best to sync with the hourglass now."
"Yes, you're right, Trinock. Sorry for the distraction."
Amy said.
"No need for apologies, Lady Amy. Now, if we can hurry along."
The group continued until they reached the hourglass. The four heroines held up their weapons and a beam of light came from the hourglass and into the gems of the weapons.
"Good, now let's see when the next wave is."
Peach said with all the heroines checking the timer. That was when they all had a worried look on their face.
"What's wrong, Peach?"
Mario asked.
"Two days."
Peach said, confusing him.
"Siltvelt's next wave is in two days."
Everyone was shocked to hear this.
"What! Then, we need to prepare for it as soon as possible. I need to go and prepare our troops. Will you please join me, Lady Amy? They would have a great morale boost to know that their Shield Goddess will be fighting beside them."
Trinock said.
"I don't know, I need to make preparations as well."
"I think you should do it, Amy."
Peach said. Amy was about to say something when Peach pulled her to the side away from everyone.
"Remember, we still need to meet the Claw Hero. This is a great chance to do that."
Amy remembered and nodded to Peach's idea.
"It sounds like a good idea, Trinock. Gather the troops so I can meet them. Oh, and make sure the Claw Hero is there as well."
Amy said as she and Peach rejoined the group.
"Yes, of course, he'll be there. I'll contact Rhubaldt right away."
Trinock said as he, Amy, and Sonic left the church to meet with the troops Trinock was preparing. Meanwhile, the others teleported back to their base.
Cardinal Alliance Base
Everyone was working on their projects when the three heroines teleported in with their allies.
"Hey there. So, how did things go?"
Luigi asked as he, Daisy, and Rino walked up to the group.
"Well, we synchronized with all the hourglasses and know the dates of the waves now."
Peach answered.
"That's excellent, Lady Peach. So when is the next wave?"
Rino asked.
"In two days. A wave is going to appear in Siltvelt in two days."
Everyone stopped what they were doing upon hearing this.
"So it's time to face the "waves" then? About time."
Knuckles said while punching his fists together.
"I agree, besides beating those knights, I haven't seen much action. I'm itching to get down there already."
"You realize you'll be on the ground and not in your arwing, right?"
Katt said to Falco who just scoffed.
"I may prefer the air, but that doesn't mean I can't do ground missions now and then."
"That's good, Falco because you're on my team when the wave starts."
Krystal said.
"Right, so it's you, me, Falco, and Katt. Is there anyone else?"
Fox asked.
"Yes, where's Keel? He must be excited about his first mission."
"Yeah, about that, Krystal."
Falco said while rubbing the back of his head. That's when Krystal noticed her friends looked nervous about something.
"What, did something happen with Keel? Was he not able to level up?"
"No, Keel leveled up, Krystal. But, you remember how this world's level-up system affects demi-humans right?"
"Yes, Katt, I do. Do we not have clothes for Keel?"
"We do, but, it's just, well, you have to see for yourself."
Krystal was confused by Katt's words. But then Keel came out with ROB.
"Keel is now fully dressed and equipped."
"Thanks, ROB. Man, the clothes from your world feel great! This flight suit, this jacket, and these gloves and boots! Not to mention the blaster you guys gave me, now I just need a reflector and I'll fit right in with Star Fox."
Keel said with pride.
"That's good, Keel. It seems you are adapting and, You're a woman!"
Krystal said in shock as she saw that the little wolf boy had grown into a wolf woman as evidenced by her curves, long hair, and chest size.
"Yeah, came as a shock for us too."
Falco said with Slippy and Peppy nodding in agreement.
"But, why did you say you were a boy?"
Fox asked.
"We talked to her about it and it seems that her parents raised her as a boy. Telling her that gender is a state of mind."
Peppy explained.
"I mean, it is. Is there anything a boy can do that a girl can't?"
Keel asked.
"I can give you a few examples."
"Do they have anything to do with red-light district work, Falco?"
"Well, kind of, Katt."
"Then keep it to yourself."
"Look, we can talk biology later, the next wave is in two days and we need to get ready for it. Keel, are you ready to fight?"
Krystal asked.
"Yes, I am, Sword Hero Krystal!"
Keel said with a confident grin.
"Good, make sure she has a reflector."
"Got it, Krystal. Now, if you'll come with me, Keel, we can get you a reflector and go over the basics of using one."
Slippy said as he led Keel to the equipment storage. That is when Cream looked around nervously.
"Excuse me, but where's Amy and Sonic?"
"Oh, they're down in Siltvelt. The prime minister wanted Amy to meet with the troops who would be fighting the against wave. Give them a pep talk and such."
Peach explained.
"Oh, I see."
"Cream, are you still insisting on joining us?"
Knuckles asked.
"Yes, Amy is my best friend and I want to help her."
"You'll have to level up first."
"I don't know about that Cream. You'll grow up and throw away your childhood."
Vanilla said in concern.
"Don't worry about it, Vanilla. I scanned everyone here and the effects this world has had on them, and discovered that all changes made here will revert once we go back to our world."
Tails explained.
"Oh, that's somewhat comforting, but I still don't know about letting Cream fight."
"But Mom, I fought against Eggman robots with Amy and Big last time."
"I still worry though."
While Vanilla and Cream were talking, Mario decided to ask about Raphtalia and Rifana.
"So, how are the others coming along?"
"Heh, just look for yourself."
Knuckled said as he gestured toward the training area they set up. Raphtalia and Rifana had grown just as much as Keel and were sparring against hologram fighters Tails made with the help of Slippy and Purah. Raphtalia was using a hammer while Rifana was using a kunai and claw weapon.
"I'd say they're ready."
Knuckles said with pride. Mario nodded and walked over to Luigi, Daisy, and Rino.
"And how about you? Is your training going well?"
"Yes, it is, Sir Mario. I'm level twenty-five now and thanks to this new staff your friends made for me I'm able to cast a variety of spells."
Rino answered. The staff she had was made by Purah and the lumas by combining wizzrobe rods with star magic from the lumas. The result was a golden staff with a rainbow-colored gem on top that was able to cast almost any magical element. Of course, Rino's main affinity was still earth and light magic but being able to cast spells of any element meant she was much more adaptable in battle. Daisy and Luigi also made sure to teach her some close combat skills, just in case she had to fight in close quarters. Mario and Peach nodded at this and began to go over their plan for the wave.
While this was happening, Zelda and Link were watching Buliara sparring with Neai. They also noticed that Neai was fighting with a sword and shield and was using the Daybreaker and the Scimitar of the Seven.
"Ah, welcome back, Zelda and Link. How was your travels of the world below?"
Sidon asked, getting everyone's attention.
"It was fine, Sidon. But the next wave is in two days and we need to start preparing for it."
"I see, Neia has been making great strides in training and is ready for battle."
Buliara said.
"That's good. I noticed you gave her Urbosa's weapons."
Zelda said.
"Yes, I think she's earned it. And her natural ability makes it more fitting."
"Natural ability?"
That's when Neia's hand began to crackle with electricity.
"Neia, I had no idea you could do that."
"Yes, Lady Zelda, it's a natural ability the water elves possess. Buliara and Riju said that this along with my training reminds them of Urbosa. May I ask who that is?"
"She's an old friend who is no longer with us."
Zelda answered with a somber tone.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that."
"No need to apologize, Neia. Still, with your ability and the approval of both Riju and Buliara, I believe Urbosa would be proud to have you use her weapons."
"I won't let you down."
The Hyrule team all smiled proudly at Neia's statement.
Back in Siltvelt
Amy and Sonic were led to a large balcony where many men waited. Amy assumed that these were the soldiers that were going to be joining her and her friends in battle against the waves.
"Allow me to introduce the Sons of Siltvelt, the strongest warriors of the nobility from Siltvelt."
Trinock said proudly. The group of soldiers in front of them seemed to be prepared, but the armor and weapons they had looked pristine. As if they had never been used in battle before. Amy used her status magic to check on the stats of the men in front of her. Most of them were between the levels of twenty and twenty-three with only a few of them reaching twenty-five. These paled in comparison to her, Sonic, and the others. They were on the same level as Raphtalia and Rifana, who were able to reach level twenty-five within a few days.
"So, these are the strongest warriors from the nobility of Siltvelt."
Amy said with a hint of sarcasm.
"Yes, in fact, I believe it would be best if you let some of them join your party, Lady Amy."
"Oh! Um, I'm sorry, but my party is already full at the moment."
"I assure you that these fine warriors would make excellent replacements, Lady Amy."
"I doubt that."
Sonic said out loud.
"How about we prove it you spiked rat."
One of the warriors said with the others shouting in agreement.
"What did you just call my Sonic?"
Amy asked in anger.
"Lady Shield, is he your mate?"
"Yes, me and Sonic are dating."
"While it's natural for lower castes to mate with each other, you are the Shield Goddess, you can choose those of a higher caste, like me. I can do much better than him, Lady Shield. Both in battle and in the bedroom."
A tiger man said as he flexed with others mirroring his actions trying to impress Amy. This just made her frustrated, she was about to say something when Sonic stopped her.
"Okay, you think you're better than me? How about we test that?"
"How, Sonic?"
Amy asked.
"Simple, we'll have a sparring match. If any of you beat me, then you can take my place in her party."
Trinock and the warriors liked this idea.
"Very well, how shall we conduct this match?"
Trinock asked.
"Hmm, how about over here."
Sonic said while walking to a large circle in the middle of the balcony.
"We'll use this area as a ring. If you get knocked out of the circle or are incapacitated then you lose."
"Sounds good, so who's first?"
Trinock asked the Sons of Siltvelt.
"I'll go."
"No, let me have the honor of putting the spike rat in his place."
"Allow me the honor, Lady Shield."
The warriors began to argue over who would fight Sonic. Amy was annoyed by this until Sonic spoke up.
"How about I take on groups of you at once? You five, since you were running your mouths, you all are first."
Sonic's declaration just made the five warriors laugh.
"Oh, the lower caste has big britches since he's courting the Shield Hero. Time to put you in your place rat."
One of the soldiers said as he and the others got into place. They were three tiger men, a lion man, and a bear man, all eager to beat, or kill Sonic and take his place.
"Where's your armor?"
"Don't need armor."
Sonic said as he grabbed the shoulder of his jacket. Trinock was at the side, acting as referee for the fight.
"Ready? Begin!"
Trinock shouted. Sonic threw off his jacket while the five warriors charged in. Within the blink of an eye, the five warriors were on the ground, groaning in pain, while Sonic caught his jacket out of the air.
"Too easy."
Sonic said as he put his jacket back on. The other warriors were shocked by this, not expecting Sonic to win so quickly. But Trinock had the largest smile on his face.
"The reports don't do him justice. With that speed on our side, no one can stand up to Siltvelt."
Trinock thought. Sonic then turned back to the group.
"Alright, who's next?"
The other Sons of Siltvelt just backed up in fear.
"Oh come on, you were all talking big before. What happened? I'm just a lower caste right?"
"W-W-We apologize, Sir Sonic! We didn't know you were so fast."
One of the warriors said as he bowed his head. All the others followed suit. Sonic just shrugged and went back to Amy.
"It appears Sir Sonic's position is secure, but what about the other members of your party? Shouldn't they be here as well to see how well they fare against the finest warriors Siltvelt's nobility has to offer?"
Trinock asked.
"Okay."
Amy said as she walked off to speak with Tails. She pushed the button on her earpiece to contact him.
"Hey, Tails."
"Yeah, Amy?"
"I need you to send down Knuckles, and Espio, and are Raphtalia and Rifana ready?"
"Yes."
"Good, send them down too."
"You got it."
Tails hung up as Amy walked back to the group. Soon four figures of blue light appeared in front of her. When the light dispersed, it was revealed to be Knuckles, who was wearing brown pants and taller than Sonic. Espio, who wore traditional ninja attire and was around the same height as Sonic. Raphtalia, who wore standard adventurer clothing and armor. And finally, Rifana, who wore traditional ninja attire like Espio.
"I assume these are the other members of your party, Lady Amy."
Trinock asked.
"Yep, allow me to introduce Knuckles, Espio, Raphtalia, and Rifana."
"So, why are we here?"
Knuckles asked.
"These are the "Sons of Siltvelt" and they want to challenge us for the right to join Amy's party."
Sonic explained.
"What? Are you serious?"
"It makes the most sense, Sir Knuckles. The Shield Heroine will need the strongest warriors by her side to fight the waves after all."
Trinock explained.
"Alright, that makes sense. I'm assuming that Sonic already won since we were called here."
"Yep, those five guys groaning on the floor can testify for me."
Sonic said while pointing to the still groaning Sons of Siltvelt.
"Alright then, so who's my opponent."
That's when an oxman taller than Knuckles came up with his giant mace.
"I am."
Knuckles and the oxman took their places, waiting for Trinock to start the match.
"Ready? Begin!"
Trinock shouted. The oxman rushed forward while bringing down his mace on Knuckles. But Knuckles just effortlessly caught the mace.
"What!?"
The oxman tried to pull the mace free with all his strength. But he could not free it from Knuckles grasp.
"How boring, I was expecting better."
Knuckles said as he pulled his fist back and punched the oxman in the gut, sending him crashing into and over the edge of the balcony.
"Knuckles! You were supposed to beat him, not kill him!"
Amy shouted.
"Oops."
Knuckles said as he realized what he had just done. That's when Sonic appeared with the ox man, who was still gasping for breath from Knuckles' punch.
"I got him."
"Excellent, Sir Knuckles. I see the rumors of your strength were not false after all. Splendid!"
Trinock said with excitement. Knuckles just smirked as he walked back to Amy's group.
"Alright, who's next?"
Trinock asked the remaining Sons of Siltvelt. The remaining warriors were observing Amy's team when one warrior stepped up.
"I will go next, and I challenge the raccoon girl!"
Raphtalia nodded and stepped into the ring. She pulled out her hammer while the warrior used a sword and shield.
"Oh, you're using a hammer, Raphtalia?"
Amy asked.
"Yes, I was inspired by you, Lady Amy."
"Really? Maybe I should lend you my hammer?"
"Let's wait until she's ready to lift it first."
Knuckles said, getting a chuckle from Amy's group. Raphtalia then got ready and was waiting for Trinock to start the match.
"Ready? Begin!"
Raphtalia braced herself as her opponent charged forward. He swung at her with his sword but Raphtalia backed away to avoid the attack. The warrior then tried an overhead swing, but Raphtalia sidestepped the attack. She then swung her hammer at the warrior who blocked it with his shield. But the strength of Raphtalia's swing pushed the warrior back. Raphtalia pressed her advantage and charged forward. When she was close enough, she attacked with an overhead swing. The warrior raised his shield to block the attack. While the shield blocked the attack, the warrior was being crushed by the pressure of Raphtalia's attack.
"Tsk, he should've dodged the attack. Unless he was able to surpass her strength, there was no way he could've stopped the damage from the Raphtalia's hammer swing."
Knuckles commented. Amy and her friends nodded in agreement. Raphtalia backed off after the warrior blocked her attack, but the warrior couldn't get up from his kneeling position. As Raphtalia prepared to attack again, the warrior dropped his weapons and raised his hands.
"Wait, I yield!"
He shouted not wanting to continue the fight. Sonic just shook his head at this. Despite the level difference only being two levels, it was obvious Raphtalia had superior fighting skills. It appeared that all the armor these men wore was just for show, and none of them had seen real combat before.
"So, am I up?"
Rifana asked. Trinock looked back to the Sons of Siltvelt whose morale was quickly falling. One member mustered up the courage to step up.
"I'll face her."
One warrior said as he stepped up with his sword and shield. The two stepped into the ring and got ready. Rifana pulled out a claw weapon in her left hand and a kunai in her right. The warrior smirked, believing the superior defense of his shield could stop all of Rifana's attacks.
"Ready? Begin!"
Trinock shouted. Rifana rushed forward and swiped at the warrior with her claw. The warrior raised his shield and blocked the attack. The warrior smiled, believing he had the upper hand, but Rifana moved to his side and tried to stab at an open area of the warrior's armor. The warrior swung his shield at Rifana to make her back off. Once there was some space between them the warrior charged forward. He swung his sword at Rifana, but she skillfully evaded each of his strikes.
"Nice, so you've taken Rifana under your wing, Espio?"
Sonic asked.
"When we were helping her level up, I noticed she was an agile fighter. When she was choosing her weapon, I asked if she was interested in learning the ways of ninjutsu."
"I'm assuming she said yes."
Amy said.
"Indeed, she's made great progress in her training."
"That's good, it's showing in how she's dominating this match. Well, that and the fact that her opponent doesn't know how to fight."
"Yes, it's an insult that the prime minister wanted to replace us with these rookies."
"Heh, that's an insult to the word, Espio. A rookie at least knows the basics of fighting. These guys are like children playing knights."
Knuckles added with the others nodding in agreement. Back at the fight, the warrior was growing frustrated that he couldn't hit Rifana. When he swung again, Rifana just sidestepped the attack and tripped him. The warrior fell forward and before he could get up Rifana put the kunai to his neck.
"I believe this is my win."
Rifana said. The warrior just dropped his head in shame while the Sonic team cheered.
"That was a good showing, Rifana."
Trinock said as Rifana joined back with her group. He then turned back to the Sons of Siltvelt.
"Alright then, is there anyone else who wishes to challenge one of the Shield Heroine's companions?"
The Sons of Siltvelt all shook their head. After what they saw, none of them wished to face anyone from the Sonic team.
"How disappointing. Very well, it appears none of them are ready to join your party, Lady Amy. But, I believe they would still be useful against the wave monsters."
"Fine, they can join us in the assault."
Amy said, wanting to be done with this already. As they were about to leave, Espio spoke up.
"A moment, prime minister. Who is that?"
Espio asked pointing to a tree nearby. Leaning against the tree was a male cat demi-human twirling a knife-like sai in his hand. He was thin and had dark fur, a skinny tail, and his hair covered one of his yellow eyes. He had light, leather armor and appeared to have seen real combat, as evident by the scars on his arms.
"Oh, no one important, a nuisance really, please just ignore him."
Trinock answered. But this just made Espio and the others even more curious.
"If he's here, then shouldn't he introduce himself?"
Espio asked.
"Very well, Daven! Come and introduce yourself to the Shield Goddess and her companions."
Trinock ordered. The cat man gave an annoyed sigh and walked up to the group.
"My name is Daven."
"... And?"
"And that's it."
Trinock was livid at his attitude. But Espio spoke up, stopping Trinock from saying whatever he was going to say.
"If that's all you're going to say, then why are you here?"
"I was forced to come here by my bastard father and his mistress so I could become the companion to some pampered bitch people are claiming to be a goddess."
The group was surprised by how Daven spoke his mind.
"Daven! How dare you disrespect the Shield Goddess like that! I apologize, Lady Amy. Please, do not bother with this ruffian anymore. He's been a nuisance for quite some time now. If it wasn't for his skills as a shadow, I would have sent him to work in the quarries already."
Trinock ranted. But Amy just raised her hand to stop him from continuing his rant.
"Excuse me, Daven, why do you believe I'm a pampered bitch?"
Daven gave Amy a look of anger before answering.
"What did you do?"
He asked, confusing Amy.
"What do you mean?"
"What did you do during the fights? All I saw was you sitting on your ass while your lackeys did all the work. What else would you call that besides a pampered bitch?"
Sonic got angry at Daven's answer.
"Take that back."
"Huh?"
"I said take that back."
"Why? Is anything I said untrue?"
"Take that back now!"
"Make me you blue rat!"
Sonic rushed at Daven, but when he caught him, Daven vanished in a puff of smoke. Daven appeared next to a tree, grinning at Sonic. Sonic just got angrier and continued to chase after Daven while he vanished in more puffs of smoke. But Sonic was too fast and he eventually caught Daven and pinned him to the ground.
"Are you going to take back your comment now?"
"Why? This just proves my point. She needs you to fight her battles for her."
Daven answered. Sonic was about to strike Daven when,
"Sonic stop!"
Amy yelled, stopping Sonic's attack.
"But, Amy,"
"He's right. From his perspective, I didn't do a damn thing. So he's not wrong in assuming that. But, I'll just have to prove you wrong at the next wave."
Amy said with a smile.
"We'll see about that."
Daven said as he got up.
"First, let's see if you're strong enough to join us. Step into the ring. I'll be your opponent."
Espio said as he stepped into the ring and gestured to Daven to do the same. Daven took his position and pulled out another knife sai, wielding one in each hand. Espio took out a kunai and prepared for battle. Trinock took his place to start the fight.
"Ready? Begin!"
Daven and Espio rushed at each other, parrying each other's attacks. When Espio had deflected one of Daven's attacks, he countered with an open palm strike. But when it hit Daven, he vanished in a puff of smoke.
"Hmph, this trick again."
Espio said as Daven appeared behind him. Daven tried to stab Espio in the back, but Espio jumped up to avoid it. While in the air, Espio launched two shurikens at Daven. Daven rolled forward to avoid the attack. Once Espio landed, he and Daven stood still, waiting for the other to make the next move.
"Not bad, but how will you handle this?"
Espio brought his hands together to make a sign. Then he vanished in a swirl of leaves. Daven looked around for Espio, but he couldn't see him. Daven then closed his eyes and stood still.
"Nice trick, but I can still sense your presence."
Daven said as he turned to block Espio's unseen attack. Daven tried to counterattack, but Espio was gone.
"Just because you can sense my presence, doesn't mean you can stop my attacks."
Espio said, Daven threw a knife at where he heard the voice. But he hit nothing. Espio continued to attack, with Daven blocking and trying to counterattack. But Espio's assault was too quick, and Daven was having a harder time blocking his attacks. Daven leaped into the air to get away, but while he was in the air he cut the palm of his hand. When he landed, he waited for Espio's attack. He then blocked Espio's attack but he also threw out his open palm, sending blood flying in Espio's direction. The blood landed on Espio as he backed away.
"Now I can see you."
Daven said with a smirk. Espio just chuckled at this as he became visible again.
"You're not half bad. But I think it's time we end this."
Espio said as he charged at Daven. Daven rushed forward and their attacks clashed again. Espio once again hit Daven, only for Daven to disappear in a puff of smoke. But this time, when Daven appeared behind Espio with a stabbing attack, Espio grabbed Daven's hand and threw him onto the ground. Espio then pinned Daven.
"Ready to surrender?"
"Not yet."
Daven said as he grabbed a third knife sai from his belt with his tail. He then tried to stab Espio in the back, only for it to be stopped by Espio's tail.
"Nice try, but you're not the only one who can use his tail for battle."
Espio said in triumph. Daven just sighed at this.
"Very well, it's my defeat. I surrender."
Espio got off Daven and offered a hand to help him up. Daven took it while the Sonic team was cheering.
"So, how'd I do?"
"You could use improvement, but your skills are the real deal. You pass. We'll see you at the wave in two days."
"Alright then, see you there. Oh, and I hope to see you prove me wrong, Lady Amy."
Daven said as he vanished from sight.
"That damn Daven. I hope his rudeness didn't give you a poor impression of us, Lady Amy."
Trinock said, but Amy just shook her head.
"Not at all, Trinock. He was just speaking his mind, and he's not wrong. I haven't done anything to earn his respect yet, so I'll just have to do it at the waves."
Amy said.
"Splendid, I'll make sure the Sons of Siltvelt are ready. Until then, Lady Amy."
"Right, oh wait! Where's the Claw Hero? He was supposed to be here as well."
Trinock once again had a look of anger.
"I tried to get him to show up, but he refused. Said he needed to prepare for the waves and didn't have time for pleasantries. The nerve! If he wasn't the Claw Hero, I would've had him tried for insubordination."
"That's too bad, I guess I'll meet him at the wave then. Until then, Trinock."
"Until then, Lady Amy."
Amy pressed the device in her ear and she and her friends were covered in a blue light and teleported back to their base. Nearby, Daven was behind a pillar, listening in on the conversation.
"Hmm, now why would they want to meet Claw Hero so badly? It seems things are going to get much more interesting around here."
Daven said as he vanished once again.
And that's the end of the chapter, thank you all so much for taking the time to read this, I hope you are enjoying my story and please feel free to leave a review.
As for the fight between Espio and Daven, I've never seen Espio use his tail for battle, but seeing as actual chameleons use their tails for grabbing onto branches, I just assumed he could. As for Daven, he is another one of BKL777's OCs and I'm finally glad he could make an appearance in my story.
Cristian - unfortunately no, since I'm using the games no movie characters will be showing up.
