Link returns to face some of the consequences. Rauru gets to have a little time to himself. Both of them freak out a little over a new discovery. Epona helps Hoz.
Link sighed with more defeat weighing on his shoulders. Purah tapped the device Link had relinquished. "Yeah, I was not able to restore Zelda's translation work completely. You deleted the vocabulary library and we are just incredibly lucky I did not have to replicate the software that can hear your ghost friend."
"So no library? No verbal or text translation?" This was a major setback for Link. He had three items of business when the thing was fixed. First was ask Rauru what was on his mind. He clearly had something weighing on him when they found the dragon tear and it got heavier when he looked at the map location for the old temple they were heading to for answers. Second item of business, that dang blizzard. Third: Link wanted more capsules. He was realizing that having a truck following him all over the map with the parts for his plans was impractical with the sheer number of monsters, cliffs, and parts.
Link had left his parts behind with the Korok camp. Rauru said, "Yousho ulda ddanot h erlev erher eto mak ei teasie rtoai mat theKeese." The Korok pair had a few custom traps added to the fort before Link teleported back to Lookout Landing.
"I turned on the machine learning so it will pick up on language from Rauru. The more he talks and works on it, the better it will be. At the rate it will learn, I would not be surprised if Rauru and you learn faster than this software. For starters, It doesn't pick up on body language."
Link mumbled, "Better than nothing, I guess."
"We have some experts on the ancient Zonai language around. If you run into Tauro he could help you out. He would give you a jump start on vocabulary and syntax."
"Thanks, Purah. Thanks, Robbie." Link reached for the pad but Purah did not let go of the Pad.
"I need to show Rauru how to operate the emergency override first." Purah said to Link. "The device can hear him even if I cannot so..." She ignored just how betrayed Link looked in that moment. "Plus, you owe us. Robbie?"
Robbie handed Link a parchment. "We take payment in Zonaite materials, gemstones, or rupees. I hear a lot of Zonaite ore is to be found in the depths!" Link reviewed the prices and made a mental note to visit the chasm after he fixed the blizzard. This wasn't as big as the bill for Vah Ruhdania at least. "Normally, we would confiscate this until you paid, never mind anything like upgrades, but the faster you get the demons taken care of the better."
Epona openly stared at the mushroom man.
The mushroom man started back at Epona. Epona was used to bad fashion, this was in no small part thanks to Link, but this was a whole new level. Epona snorted, safe in the knowledge that the man didn't realize Epona was laughing at him. Even Link would not wear that outfit.
Epona trotted onwards to the group of tents she saw. She overheard the camp cook and repair guy talking about a monster control crew. This warranted investigation.
Link looked to Rauru and refrained from picking the sundelions from the grave. That would be insensitive. "Hey, um, do you want to be alone for a while, Rauru? Rauru, w antmew aita way? Or was that wa nttoha vemeg one?"
Rauru said "Thank you. Need minute with Sonia." Link left him for the time as he went to meet Impa inside the temple. When Link returned, Rauru still was standing there like a lost puppy.
It occurred to Link that he was getting off relatively easy with the important figures in his life. He knew his new friends were probably alive, despite the upheaval. Zelda was around somewhere to find, but Sonia was dead. Link patted Rauru's shoulder for a comforting gesture. The two men stood there in a shared grief. There was much sniffling.
Cado walked out of the temple to check what the noise was. He saw Link patting the air and crying since he didn't see the spirit. This was a little confusing and possibly alarming.
The sniffling and comforting pat continued for a good two minutes before both Link and Rauru stopped to stare at Links hand. Resting. On a ghost. Link lifted the replacement arm and slowly poked Rauru's arm. Rauru returned the gesture by prodding Links hand with his free arm.
"Holy Hylia above! Rauru, are you seeing this?!" Link tried to focus on moving through the ghost and found he could, but could poke at Rauru with the Zonai arm.
"Howcur ious! Wh y isth ish appen ing? Oh, Iwi sh Mineru wa sher e. Shem ig htkn owm oregiv enhers piritpo we rs."
The two continued to freak out about the implications of this new discovery and were oblivious to Cado's confused stare. Cado went back to tell Impa that Link was a little preoccupied.
Hoz surveyed his batch of brave souls. If only they had more experience between them. Link and his proclivity for fire would be welcome at this point. Boss Bokoblins were intimidating and not a trifling matter. They approached the camp, and waited. He heard hoofbeats and turned to see a horse.
"Hey, is that Link's horse?!" said a farmer behind him.
Hoz examined the horse which had been pulling a cart behind her. No rider to be seen. No familiar blonde menace either. Hm. "Are you sure that's Link's horse?"
"Yeah, Epona. She's the smartest horse in Hyrule! I bet she's here to help!"
"Uh, dude? That's a horse. She doesn't have a way to use a spear or anything..."
Hoz saw the horse unhooked from the cart. Epona trotted around to the back of the cart which, now that he looked, had a considerable number of elemental fruits and some bomb flowers loaded into it. "Did Link send her do you think? Wait, look!"
Epona looked Hoz right in the eye, planted her feet, then shoved the vehicle with her rear legs. The cart careened towards the monster lair. She stood back to admire the fireworks while the monster control crew that had not paid attention turned to see the explosion. Some guy in the back whispered, "My gosh, Kass was right. The horse is an arsonist too."
This was the right opportunity to launch an attack. Hoz and his team charged in to finish off the survivors. Epona was gone by the time they were through, leaving Hoz with no answers.
I forgot about Sonia's grave. Thank goodness readers remember important lore details like that. Reviews are just great for my ego from Random Reader and random readers.
Rauru is going to slide a little bit into reckless behavior over time. No wife or sister around to correct him on being irresponsible and Link is there.
