As counterintuitive as it may seem, having to worry about their survival on a daily basis was actually quite fun, mostly because they weren't actually in danger of starving or anything like that. Their stocks of food paled in comparison to what they had right now, but they still had enough to stay at home for a day or two without starving. Though Izuku was probably on the lucky end of the spectrum as both finding and then saving Stormy's life on that cliff gave him quite the dosage of adrenaline.
