Chapter 1: Web of Time
"How is it going out there?"
"Perfectly, they don't suspect a thing."
"I've scrambled their systems, so you should be able to move about undetected."
"Thanks."
Elita One ran down the passageway of the Decepticon ship. She could hear the battle outside. Her team ambushed the Cons while she slipped inside to gather intel and potentially identify and take down the leader of this group if they were still hiding in the ship.
"… safe now…"
The femme skidded to a stop, looking around as she heard her own voice.
"Don't worry, you're safe now…"
There it was again.
Her voice.
Her own voice.
"Don't worry, you're safe now…"
Following the voice, she came to a door.
The sign outside noted that this was the medical bay.
But how was her voice coming from there?
"Don't worry, you're safe now…"
There was no way they identified her yet.
Readying her blaster, she opened the door.
"Hands up!" Leaping forward, blaster in front, she scanned the room.
Only for her blaster to fall as she gasped.
Across the room, laying on a medical berth, lay a small femme.
Strapped down.
A metal cable running from the back of her helm to a computer monitor.
On the computer screen Elita saw her own face.
Kind.
Gentle.
Smiling.
"Don't worry, you're safe now."
Static…
And the image looped.
"Don't worry, you're safe now."
In the static, this time, she saw a face appear.
The face of the little femme attached to the monitor.
"… Ple- help m…"
Six Earth Years Ago
Standing above the jungles of Eukaris, a young femme stretched. Her brown and silver plating shimmered in the sunrise. The four extra appendages on her back twitched a little as she gave a fanged smile.
Stepping back from the edge, she let out a sigh before running for the edge of the cliff.
With a leap, she could see over the jungle, laughing as she plummeted downward, her plating shifting. The appendages on her back shifting to make eight legs. Her vision blinked out for a moment as vision changed from two eyes to eight.
For most, this would be disorientating, but she'd been doing this her whole life.
A web shot out, slowing her descent enough for her hooked legs to grab onto a tree.
Leaping from treetop to treetop she laughed.
"Heads up!"
Another figure with eight legs and eyes, this one with dark blue and white plating, jumped over her.
"Race you home!"
"You'll lose!"
The two jumped through the jungle, laughing as they went. Eventually, they reached a clearing, transforming as they landed.
The femme with brown plating laughed. "You lost, Spinneret!"
"I did not, Silk! You did!"
Silk laughed. "What? Can't hear you? I've got to go and I'm too far away. Bye, Spinner!"
"Bye, Silky!"
"Don't call me Silky!"
"You didn't have problems hearing that!"
"Can't hear you!" Silk jogged off, laughing.
Before her, the village of Fate Weavers came to life. Bots, some in their beast form, and some not, walked around. The village was small, but it was home. In the center stood a massive tree, hollowed out to be the home of their leader.
She knocked on the front door before opening it.
"I'm here."
"You're late, Silk Spinner."
"Oops. I thought I would make it on time." The youngling stepped inside and closed the door. With a bow, she said. "Sorry, Blackarachnia. I was in the jungle."
"I know." A tall femme, her extra legs spreading out behind her, walked forward. Her gold and black plating shimmered as she sat down, gesturing for Silk Spinner to do the same. "You and your friend spend most mornings there. I can see you running around from the top of the tree."
"Oh…"
"Now, tell me about what happened yesterday."
"Um, you know about that? That's why you wanted to see me?" Blackarachnia nodded. "Ok… well, I had a dream, but I was awake. I just kind of stopped while I was walking and everything went dark. Then I saw this femme with a red helm and she had flame designs on her, but she didn't have a beast mode; she had wheels. And she took my hand, and we flew off into the stars, passing by planets and moons. And it was like an adventure. But, why would you care about that weird dream?"
The leader of her people leaned back, smiling. "I don't care as much about the vision itself. More about the fact that you had one. You are aware that a select few of our kind can see oracles of the future."
"Like you?"
"Like me. And yesterday, I had an oracle of you. It showed me that you have the gift of foresight like I do. That was no dream, it was an oracle. A moment of the future."
"It was!? I-I can see the future?"
"Not at will, at least not yet. You'll learn. I'll show you how." Blackarachnia stood up. "Be back here tomorrow morning, at dawn to begin your training, Silk Spinner."
"Oh Primus!"
Elita ran over to the medical berth, looking over the little femme.
She couldn't be more than…
She was just a youngling.
A youngling with brown and silver plating. Eight yellow orbs decorated her chassis, and she had four extra appendages sticking out from her back.
She most certainly wasn't from Cybertron.
Adjusting the bed, so the femme wouldn't fall as Elita undid the restraints, she looked at the cable sticking out of the back of the femme's head.
A cortical-psychic patch.
On a youngling!?
She was no medic, but this procedure could be dangerous on a fully grown bot, let alone a little youngling.
"Velocity," Elita called, "we have a new development. I need to know how to safely unhook someone from a cortical-psychic patch!"
"What? Why?"
"I'll explain when I get back, just tell me."
"Alright…"
Elita listened, following the instructions as she removed the cord from the back of the youngling's helm.
The moment the cord came loose, an alarm sounded.
"Slag!" Picking up the femme, Elita called over the comms. "Velocity! I need a bridge! Everyone else, fall back. I tripped an alarm; they'll be back in here soon."
"What's going on? This is weird."
"I'll explain later." A swirling green portal opened up before her and Elita carried through the little bot.
Coming out into a large open room, Elita turned to where a teal femme with a large head crest stood by a set of controls.
"What happened?"
"They had this youngling strapped down and hooked up to a patch."
"A youngling!?"
"Can you help her?"
Velocity sighed. "I'll do my best." Taking the little femme into her arms, she turned back to her medical area as Elita went to the bridge controls.
But her optics kept glancing to the unconscious femme now being examined by Velocity.
Five Earth Years Ago
"Did you say some bots from Cybertron are here?" Silk Spinner gasped. "Where?"
"They just finished up refueling down the hill. Blackarachnia wants them gone as soon as possible."
The young femme hurried off, transforming into her beast mode as she raced down the hill.
She'd never met anyone from off-planet.
And there was her vision, her oracle.
She hadn't been able to forget about it, or the red femme from another planet.
Maybe she was here!
Ready to take her on an adventure!
Hurrying down the hill, she saw the ship an a few bots moving around it.
There!
The femme from her oracle!
"Hello!" She called out, making the bots all jump in surprise. She transformed in front of the femme, grinning. "It's you! You're from my vision!"
"I'm sorry, your what?"
"My vision!" Silk grinned, despite the femme's clear confusion. "I'm a Fate Weaver! I can kinda see a little into the future, and I saw you! You're going to take me on an adventure! Or… I hope you will at least."
The femme blinked. "Wait, did you just say, you can see into the future, and you saw me take you on an adventure?"
"Yes."
…
A smile crawled across the femme's face. "Oh, well, that's amazing. Honestly, I'm surprised you came over here, since your leader wants us out of here. But I always heard you Eukaris bots wanted to have privacy from the rest of us, so I kind of get it; I like my own space too. But enough about that. About your vision, we are always looking for new friends to join us on our adventures, but I need to check with my boss real quick. So, you wait right here. Ok?"
"Ok!"
The femme walked back to the ship, motioning for the other bot outside to follow: a seeker with purple plating.
"Hey, Shadow Striker, I have a question." She stepped inside. "What do we know about these spider-bots?"
A femme with a single round eye turned from the computer. "What specifically do you mean?"
"Can they see into the future?"
"What?" Asked the purple seeker. "Flamewar, have you lost it?"
"No, but a little spider bot says she can and that she saw me take her on an adventure in a vision."
Shadow Striker turned to the computer, searching for a moment. "Well, it has been documented by Arachnid that she possessed the gift of foresight, as did some others of her kind. So, it's possible."
"If that's true, then we should bring that bot you mentioned." A femme seeker with purple and teal plating approached. "She could be useful."
Flamewar giggled. "I thought the same. And she seems a bit on the naïve side and she's really little, the most adorable and clueless little youngling I've ever seen, so as long as we don't scare her, she might just help us."
"Stupid Eukaris bots."
"Not stupid," the femme seeker smirked, "just cut off. They don't care about the war, and they don't want to."
Flamewar gave a short laugh before heading back outside the ship.
There stood the youngling.
Were all bots on this backwater planet this clueless?
She hoped so.
Maybe one day she could come back and take over the whole planet.
Now that would be fun.
"Good news, little one! My boss, Slipstream, says you can come with us on our adventure."
"Really?"
"Oh yes, but listen, we don't always know where we can get supplies and such things. Do you think you can use that little gift of yours to help us?"
"Yes! I can't really control it fully yet, but I'll try."
"Well then," Flamewar grinned, "welcome aboard… um…"
"Silk Spinner!"
"Silk Spinner."
Silk gasped in joy. Her first vision coming true! She couldn't wait to tell Blackarachnia.
"I need to tell-"
"Oh, but we have to leave right away, Silky. Like, now."
Silk looked back toward her village. "But… will we be able to come back soon?"
"Oh yeah." Flamewar put a hand on Silk's shoulder, gently moving her toward the ship. "Just tell us when you get homesick and we'll bring you right back, Silky."
"Ok… um and it's just Silk."
"Whatever."
Elita watched the other five members of her team come through the bridge. "Is everyone safe?"
"Safe and confused, boss." A grumpy old bot huffed. "What happened? It's not like you to accidently trip an alarm."
"She happened." She gestured to the youngling in the medical bay.
"Primus!"
"Who is that?" Asked a young teal femme.
Shaking her head, Elita sighed. "I don't know. I found her in the medical bay, hooked up to a cortical-psychic patch. She was strapped to the berth and unconscious, so I doubt she was there by choice. And strangely, the computer she was hooked too was showing an image of my face and voice."
"What?"
"How could that be possible?"
"I don't know." Elita turned to a tall mech seeker with red plating. "Star Saber, track that ship. They may have more intel on us than we realize."
"Yes, ma'am."
The mech stepped away as another femme, this one in purple, moved toward the med bay. "She's so little. Why would they do that to a youngling?"
"She was important enough that when I removed the patch, the alarm went off. They must not want her escaping."
The old mech huffed. "Probably a spy that can turn invisible or something and snuck into our base."
"Kup," a mech with green plating rolled his optics, "we have better security than that, and she probably wouldn't have been strapped down if that was the case."
"Then how did she know about Elita, Hound? Tell me that?"
"Will you shut up!?" Velocity turned on the mechs. "I am trying to assess her condition, and I'm probably going to have to do a lot of delicate work to bring her back to working order. If you two are going to bicker, take it outside!"
The purple femme looked over the unconscious youngling. "Hey, I think she's from Eukaris. She looks like she transforms into some kind of spider."
"A spider, like Arachnid?"
"Ugh, hate her."
"We all do."
Elita looked at the purple femme and the smaller teal one. "Moonracer, Nautica, see if there is any intel on a young spider bot from Eukaris. If she is a Decepticon, there might be information on her. But, the way I found her, I doubt it. She was most likely a prisoner."
"Poor thing…"
Three Earth Years Ago
"What are you doing!?"
Flamewar dropped the deceased body of some creature that was once part of the crew on this ship. "Now, Silky, didn't we say to stay ON the ship?"
"Y-you killed them!" Silk looked around at the bodies of the crew of the supply ship they'd connected with.
"Yes." Flamewar sighed. This day was bound to come sooner or later.
Time for plan B.
"And we couldn't have done it without your help."
"What…?"
"You gave us their coordinates after all." She smirked.
Silk Spinner took a step back, looking around at the bodies.
Wait…
"Wh-what about the other places…?"
Slipstream approached, flanked by the purple seeker and a yellow mech seeker. "What do you think, Silk? We don't barter with lower lifeforms like these. We take what we want, and if they don't give it to us, we kill them."
Silk's hands began shaking.
She'd used her gift to give them supply locations six times before.
They'd killed everyone there!?
…
Because of her…
"TAKE ME HOME! NOW!" She looked at Flamewar. "You said if I wanted, you'd take me home! I want to go home!"
"Oh, about that… I lied."
"Hotlink, Sunstorm." Slipstream pointed toward the youngling. "You know where to go."
Silk turned-
But where would she go?
Back to the ship?
Even if she reached the escape pods, they were locked with a code she didn't know.
A 'safety feature' Flamewar said.
Or a trick.
Was this all a trick!?
Hotlink and Sunstorm grabbed her arms, dragging the youngling into the ship.
She screamed, struggling against them as Flamewar followed behind, giggling gleefully.
She'd been waiting for this moment!
They dragged Silk Spinner to the med bay, holding her down to the table as they applied the restraints.
"Do you know how long I've been waiting to do this? Now we get what we want, without your constant questions and wanting to play games. We're soldiers, not babysitters. I'm honestly shocked we made it this long without killing you out of annoyance." The red femme turned around, swinging a large cord in one hand.
"What are you doing!?" Silk cried. "I WANT TO GO HOME! SOMEONE! HELP ME! PLEASE!"
"Ooh, begging! I love that! Too bad your little gift didn't warn you of this." Flamewar leaned over the youngling. "You know, I hope this hurts… a lot."
The cord hooked into the back of Silk's helm as she screamed.
And everything went dark.
