A: Advice
Hogan had just passed the pictures of the secret plans to his contact at the hoffbrau and began his second beer when he overheard the two small men behind him.
"Yeah, tomorrow when the Kommadant gets here we keep him here till we get the signal." The other small man chuckled darkly
"Then while he is away from Stalag 13 when that surprise cargo is arriving Hochstetter will have his head!" They touched mugs and took their last swigs before getting up to leave. Hogan took another drink of his beer and began thinking.
Later that evening Hogan had Kinch draw up a fake telegram and put Carter in disguise as a postal agent. Hogan told Carter to wait outside for a few minutes while he spoke to Klink.
The Kommandant was seated at his desk filling out paperwork as usual when Hogan entered his office with the usual flair.
"Hogan you can not just come barging in whenever you feel like it!" Klink slapped his hand on the desk.
"Relax Kommandant I'm here to give a little advice." Hogan threw his hat on Klink's desk and sat down.
"Advice? I did not ask for any advice." Klink looked at Hogan confused.
"Nevertheless I thought you might like to know something." He leaned forward and clasped his hands in his lap. "Kommandant I don't think you should go into town tomorrow."
Klink barked a short laugh
"And why ever not? My schedule is clear the guards are" he leaned to look out the frosted window "…on guard."
Hogan shifted in his seat
"I just got this feeling that you ought not to go."
"Oh really," Klink leaned back in his chair. "This feeling you have wouldn't happen to revolve around some of your shenanigans would it?"
"No, No sir I just feel…" Hogan didn't get to finish before Carter came in. Still, in the character of his disguise, he marched forward and saluted Klink.
"What is it now?!" Klink stood.
"A message for you Herr Kommandant!" Carter held out an official-looking envelope.
Klink snatched it from him and gave a small salute back "Dismissed!"
Carter marched right back out and Hogan had to work to hide the smile on his face. This was working like a charm.
The Kommandant opened the envelope with his paper knife and scanned the message.
"Ahhhh" Klink grinned
"Well, what is it?" Hogan leaned over to try and see the writing but Klink stuffed it back in its envelope.
"You are right, I won't be going into town tomorrow and all of you will be confined to barracks all day." Klink said sitting back down.
"But Kommandant.." once again Hogan was cut off.
"No, no, no Hogan! My word is final." he put the envelope back into his desk. "You are dismissed!" Klink said with a wave of his hand. Hogan shrugged his shoulders, grabbed his hat, and left. He could only keep the smile off his face till he went through the door.
The next day all prisoners had to stay in their barracks until further notice. Around noon a supply truck pulled into Stallag 13 with a Generals car trailing behind. Klink hurried out to greet them much to the annoyance of Hochstetter.
