It's fresh into their acquaintance that Lucifer begins quizzing Nick on geography (admittedly, not his strongest subject) and about remote locales and unseen places, and Nick is still struggling to understand her questions in his head, much less answer them. Together, they sort through memory and fun facts gathered from science magazines Nick used to read in doctor's offices until Lucifer discovers, delighted, that the ocean is still largely untouched by human hands. She dives into the deepest trench, her power enough to save Nick from the crushing pressure, and when his feet touch the sandy bottom of the ocean, the first and only human who will ever be able to say he did so, she finally releases her wings to span miles.
