Hello, fellow fic readers and My Hero Academia fans! Welcome to a new My Hero Academia fanfic. This time something new popped onto my head and I decided to see how this would go as this story has a new twist while retaining most elements from the anime while incorporating "superhero"-like twists here.

It all started when I came across a website where you can download Sega Genesis ROM games as I already have a Sega Genesis emulator, and while browsing I came across a very familiar game that I played way back during the advent of the 16-bit era (Super NES/Genesis). That game was Altered Beast, and while I did play and enjoyed it, I had difficulty trying to get past Stage 3, and after a few years of trying to get past it I sort of give up.

Decades later, when the Sega Genesis emulator came to light, especially in smartphones, I decided to give it another shot, and to my pleasant surprise it has a built-in cheat codes and thus I now have the means to finish Altered Beast, and finally made it to the last stage.

This inspired me to come up with a way to make a fanfiction, and My Hero Academia came to mind and decided to try combining the two series and thus I was able to conceive the initial plot.

To give this fic a starting narrative, I took inspiration for some plot points by rewatching the 1997 film Disney's Hercules, and then from the MHA movie, World Heroes Mission, which the opening scenes in this chapter depicts the modern-day Greece where life is normal before the citizens witnessed the live international news of the international pro heroes fighting off the Humarise cult.

And from here that's where the story comes in as Midoriya and Bakugo would be the lead characters whilst the story involving elements from Altered Beast would slowly build up, and there you'll did out sooner or later…

Well then, read on and enjoy!

Ch. 1: Yoha e no jokyoku

Greece.

Known officially as the Hellenic Republic, is a country in Southeast Europe, situated on the southern tip of the Balkan peninsula. Greece shares land borders with Albania to the northwest, North Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north, and Turkey to the east. The Aegean Sea lies to the east of the mainland, the Ionian Sea to the west, and the Sea of Crete and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Greece has the longest coastline on the Mediterranean Basin, featuring thousands of islands. The country consists of nine traditional geographic regions, and has a population of approximately 10.5 million. Athens is the nation's capital and largest city, followed by Thessaloniki and Patras.

Greece is considered the cradle of Western civilization, being the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, Western literature, historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, theatre and the Olympic Games. From the eighth century BC, the Greeks were organised into various independent city-states, known as poleis (singular polis), which spanned the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Philip II of Macedon united most of present-day Greece in the fourth century BC, with his son Alexander the Great rapidly conquering much of the known ancient world, from the eastern Mediterranean to northwestern India. The subsequent Hellenistic period saw the height of Greek culture and influence in antiquity. Greece was annexed by Rome in the second century BC, becoming an integral part of the Roman Empire and its continuation, the Byzantine Empire, which was culturally and linguistically predominantly Greek. The Greek Orthodox Church, which emerged in the first century AD, helped shape modern Greek identity and transmitted Greek traditions to the wider Orthodox world. After falling under Ottoman rule in the mid-15th century, Greece emerged as a modern nation state in 1830 following a war of independence.

Over the first hundred years the kingdom of Greece sought its territorial expansion, which was mainly achieved in the early 20th century, during the Balkan Wars and up until its Asia Minor Campaign ended with a catastrophic defeat in 1922. The short-lived republic that followed, beset by the ramifications of civil strife and the challenge of resettling the refugees from Turkey, came to an end in 1936, when the imposition of a royalist dictatorship inaugurated a long period of authoritarian rule, marked by military occupation during World War II, civil war and military dictatorship. Greece achieved record economic growth from 1950 through the 1970s, allowing it to join the ranks of developed nations. Democracy was restored in 1974–75, and Greece has been a parliamentary republic ever since. The country's rich historical legacy is reflected in part by its 18 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Greece is a unitary parliamentary republic, and a developed country, with an advanced high-income economy. Its economy is the second largest in the Balkans, where it is an important regional investor. A founding member of the United Nations, Greece was the tenth member to join the European Communities (precursor to the European Union) and has been part of the Eurozone since 2001. It is also a member of numerous other international institutions, including the Council of Europe, NATO, the OECD, the WTO, and the OSCE. Greece has a unique cultural heritage, large tourism industry, and prominent shipping sector.

The main capital of Greece is Athens, in which is a major coastal urban area in the Mediterranean and it is both the capital and the largest city of Greece. With its urban area's population numbering over three million, it is also the eighth largest urban area in the European Union. Athens dominates and is the capital of the Attica region and is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning over 3,400 years, and its earliest human presence beginning somewhere between the 11th and 7th millennia BC. The city was named after Athena, the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom.

The next scene then shifts at Thessaloniki, which is located on the Thermaic Gulf, at the northwest corner of the Aegean Sea. It is bounded on the west by the delta of the Axios. The municipality of Thessaloniki, the historical centre, had a population of 319,045 in 2021, while the Thessaloniki metropolitan area had 1,006,112 inhabitants and the Thessaloniki (regional unit) had 1,092,919. It is Greece's second major economic, industrial, commercial and political centre, and a major transportation hub for Greece and southeastern Europe, notably through the Port of Thessaloniki.

The city is renowned for its festivals, events and vibrant cultural life in general, and is considered to be the country's cultural capital. Events such as the Thessaloniki International Fair and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival are held annually, while the city also hosts the largest bi-annual meeting of the Greek diaspora. Thessaloniki was the 2014 European Youth Capital. The city's main university, Aristotle University, is the largest in the Balkans.

The city was founded in 315 BC by Cassander of Macedon, who named it after his wife Thessalonike, daughter of Philip II of Macedon and sister of Alexander the Great. An important metropolis by the Roman period, Thessaloniki was the second largest and wealthiest city of the Byzantine Empire. It was conquered by the Ottomans in 1430 and remained an important seaport and multi-ethnic metropolis during the nearly five centuries of Turkish rule, and from the 16th to the 20th century was the only Jewish-majority city in Europe.

It passed from the Ottoman Empire to the Kingdom of Greece on 8 November 1912. Thessaloniki exhibits Byzantine architecture, including numerous Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments, a World Heritage Site, as well as several Roman, Ottoman and Sephardic Jewish structures.

Thessaloniki is a popular tourist destination in Greece. In 2013, National Geographic Magazine included Thessaloniki in its top tourist destinations worldwide, while in 2014 Financial Times FDI magazine (Foreign Direct Investments) declared Thessaloniki as the best mid-sized European city of the future for human capital and lifestyle.

There you can see several people are passing by several stalls where a lot of merchants are attempting to sell some cheaper but popular second-hand items, consisting of consoles that are somewhat popular to today's youth, which included the following:

- Super NES

- Nintendo 64

- Neo Geo

- Game Boy Advance

- Sony Playstation 1

- Sony Playstation 2

- Playstation Portable

- Playstation Vita

- Sega Genesis

- Sega Saturn

- Sega Dreamcast

In a matter of minutes customers passed by the shop, and most of them are avid collectors and fans of video games, and they were immediately intrigued by the items on display and they looked at the items, as some appeared to be unaware that such classical consoles actually existed, and they began asking the merchants if those consoles and its games are really something to be owned, which the merchant nodded and assured to them that the classic games are RARE, and are fun to play with, saying that even with popular games today that are released on current consoles, the consoles on display are even COOLER due to its nostalgia factor.

"Eínai pragmatiká cool se sýnkrisi me tis simerinés konsóles?"

"Nai...eínai kaloí..."

"Sovará?"

"Nai, kýrie...eínai ta próta paichnídia...kai eínai ta dimofilí sta chrónia tis akmís...kai eínai SPANIA na ta vreis..."

"Chm..."

"Tha ítheles na ta dokimáseis...?"

"Kalá..."

"Sou ypóschomai óti den tha to metanióseis..."

The customer appeared to be enticed yet he wanted to be sure, so he asked the merchant to give him a demonstration, and the merchant obliges, and brought out the Super Famicom and attached it to a flat-screen TV and inserted a cartridge and activated it, and the customer watched in awe seeing that the merchant was not lying, and after testing out several games, the customer is pleased and agreed to purchase the console, and the merchant happily obliges as he prepared a box to put the Super Famicom in and said that as his way of showing thanks, he will give 50 Super Famicom games for 70% discount, which the customer is pleased with this.

"Alítheia? Tha poulísete ta paichnídia me ékptosi 70%?"

"Málista kýrie..."

"Efcharistó!"

"Parakaló epiléxte ta paichnídia pou sas arésoun..."

"Tha ta páro aftá…"

"Oríste..."

"Efcharistó!"

"Kalí sas méra, kýrie…"

After that, the customer got what he wanted, paid the merchant and left, and the other customers were awed in seeing that the merchant had sold a popular classic console to an adult, and they began asking the merchant for opinion on which console is the best besides the Super Famicom, and merchant began to show out the other consoles and offered to show its power and the number of games that are available, and after seeing them, the customers lined up and brought out their money and ordered their desired consoles and its games.

"Thélo to Sega Genesis!"

"Tha páro to Neo Geo!"

"Dóse mou to Nintendo 64!"

"Thélo to Game Boy Advance!"

"Thélo to Nintendo Super Famicom!"

«Ta thélo óla!»

"Óloi... iremíste... schimatíste mia grammí kai tha sas filoxeníso ólous..."

"Viásou tóte!"

As the customers are scrambling to get the consoles they wanted to buy, the scene shifts in front of a popular electronics shop, where passing pedestrians happened to catch a live international news where an ongoing incident and operations are happening worldwide, and moments later the Greek citizens got the gist as they realized the magnitude of the situation and hoped that those who are working at several foreign countries would do their jobs and prayed for their safety.

Meanwhile, the scene shifts at Otheon, which is a located on an island at the southwestern rim of the Celtic Sea. The island is roughly egg-shaped and slightly larger than Ireland.

Otheon, which is near Klayd, is the smaller of the two nations and has a coastline towards the Bay of Biscay. The culture seems to be heavily influenced by France, Spain, and Portugal, while the official language appears to be English. Otheon is a member of the European Union and has the Euro as its currency.

Geographically, Otheon is a mountainous country, with grasslands, and forests, although the closer someone gets to the border with Klayd, the more barren the landscape becomes.

The next scene shifts at a hidden base where the leader of the doomsday cult called Humarise is set to commit mass murder via genocide as they announced earlier that they will PURIFY the world by killing the ones with Quirk and spare the Quirkless, sending everyone all over the world in a panic and the pro heroes are working around the clock to evacuate the citizens while searching for the hidden bombs.

The scene shifts inside where Bakugo and Todoroki are fighting against the Humarise agents which took a toll on both sides before Todoroki and Bakugo eventually defeated the Humarise agents but we're severely injured to move ahead and mentally hoped that Midoriya would be able to stop the mastermind and deactivate the bombs.

Further inside the hidden lair, the mastermind, Flect Turn, is giving Midoriya a hard time as his Quirk repel the attacks that Midoriya unleashed, and the 16-year old boy was badly injured but persevered as Rody Soul tries to make a bargain with Flect, and the mastermind smirked seeing that victory is at hand, only to find out that it was just an act and Rody proceeded to head to the main computer to deactivate the bombs.

Enraged for being fooled, Flect Turn reactivates the room's laser defenses to shoot at both of them. Rody manages to dodge some of the shots but in the end, he is fatally wounded by one of the lasers. Still, he continues to make his way to deactivate the bombs while Midoriya keeps Flect Turn at bay. He increases the power of One For All and attacks Flect Turn with volumes of kicks and punches to keep him at bay. Rody manages to get to the computer, but ends up passing out from blood loss before inserting the key.

"Rody!"

"…"

"Are you okay?"

"…"

"Answer me!"

"…"

"Rody!"

"…"

Smirking, Flect Turn mocks him for failing just like his father, which is replied by attacks from a raging Midoriya, but this time, to the villain's surprise, he begins to budge with each blow, realizing a fact he thought was impossible: his Quirk actually has limits. This is pointed out by Midoriya, who rubs salt into the wound by telling him that the only reason his life was full of sadness is because he gave up instead of believing in his own Quirk.

"You're such a petty person!"

"No!"

"Rather than finding a way to turn it into a gift, you chose to hurt people!"

"Quirks are a curse!"

"Yet you use it! You are the fool!"

"You lie!"

"I'll stop you and end this madness!"

"Never!"

Unable to accept he was wrong all this time, Flect Turn resorts to continue fighting him.

Now both Midoriya and Flect Turn are evenly matched, until Midoriya eventually realizes that Flect Turn's reflecting Quirk cannot sustain too much damage, and every time it reflects an attack, Flect Turn loses stamina and the Reflect gets weaker. Pushing through with another barrage of kick attacks and powerful punches, Flect Turn starts to fall back even further.

Glancing at the monitors where other pro heroes and his friends and classmates from UA Academy giving their all in averting the tragedy, which in turn inspired by everyone else all around the world still fighting their hardest even when things seem at its bleakest, Midoriya vows to defeat Flect Turn and pushes himself beyond his limitation by activating One For All: Full Cowl - 100%, overloading the Reflect Quirk with a bombardment of super-fast punches that causes the Quirk to be stretched further beyond its limits until the Quirk releases its pent-up energy.

"You're going to pay for the murders you committed!"

"No!"

"You will have to REFLECT the action you made!"

"Never! I won't lose to the likes of you!"

"I will save everyone!"

"You won't win!"

"Your crazy campaign ends right now!"

"Never! I refuse!"

With a rush of adrenaline, Midoriya finally knocks the villain out for good using the built-up energy to power his Super Move: United States of World Smash.

After defeating the villain, Midoriya runs downstairs to help Rody. He arrives at the control room to find that Rody is still alive, and that Pino had managed to insert the key in time, defusing all the bombs and saving the world. In the World Hero Association and in all the cities where the bombs were found, the heroes celebrate that the tragedy has been stopped. A semi-conscious Rody asks him if he has managed to protect his family, and Midoriya replies he did, saying he is amazing. Rody then says that make him looks real cool, and both laughs.

"So I really am cool, huh?"

"Yeah…you are, Rody."

"Ha-ha…"

"You can be a pro hero if you want…"

"I rather follow my dream…and I need it to support my siblings…"

"I see…"

"Still…thanks, Midoriya."

"Sure. No problem."

In the aftermath, the pro heroes and the Otheon authorities were able to identify and arrest the police officials who are connected to Humarise, while the rest of the pro heroes arrested the rest of the Humarise members here and Klayd, and in a few days later Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki are recovering from their injuries and spend another few days at the hospital until they were given clearance to be discharged.

After that Midoriya is seen giving his regards to Rody and the two boys shook hands before the latter departed, telling Midoriya to carry on his dreams of becoming a pro hero while he will continue his dream of becoming a pilot.

"Well…this is where we part."

"Yeah."

"You follow your dreams. I do mine."

"I'm sure you'll succeed, Rody."

"Be the number one hero of the whole world, Midoriya."

"I will."

"Well, see you, Midoriya."

"Goodbye, Rody."

As Rody left to head back to Otheon, Midoriya is about to leave when Bakugo approached him and tells him he has to be careful next time and not act too reckless, reminding him that they still have a score to settle on who will become the next Number One pro hero, which Midoriya nodded and assured to Bakugo that he will be more careful next time.

As the two boys passed by a shore which leads to the international waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Celtic Sea, Midoriya saw what appeared to be a university-looking girl, who roughly appeared to be the same age as Melissa Shield, and yet she has pink-colored hair instead of blond-colored.

The teenage girl glanced at Midoriya, having seen him on TV as she was holding her smartphone where she saw the news where the Otheon and Klayd police officials are being arrested for being members of Humarise, while at the same time Midoriya is cleared of the charges as he was proven to be innocent from the very start.

The girl then approached Midoriya and shook hands with him as she said that she saw him on the news about how he saved Otheon and Klayd from Humarise and that she saw him on TV several months ago after watching the live telecast of the UA Academy Sports Festival. The girl appeared to be Greek yet she is fluent in English and Midoriya managed to communicate with her as she said that she wanted to compliment him.

"Um…uh…really…?"

"Yes. You move and fight differently compared to how I saw you on TV during the live broadcast of the UA Academy Sports Festival."

"Well…I was a newbie back then…but I improved a lot."

"I can tell."

"Ah-ha-ha-ha…"

"Oh, I happened to be a fan of your school…"

"Is…that so…?"

"Yes."

The teen girl introduces herself as Athena Parthenos, and she asked Midoriya for permission if he would like to be chat-mates with her on Facebook and Messenger, which the blushing younger boy was flustered yet flattered and he gave permission as they exchange their Facebook and Messenger codes, and after that Athena thanked him as she took her leave.

Bakugo smirked and jokingly asked if he possess a SECRET QUIRK that attracts beautiful girls and he naughtily asked if he is planning to SECRETLY take her someplace and GO ALL THE WAY with her, which Midoriya blushed and told Bakugo that he got the wrong idea.

"What? Of course not!"

"Really…?"

"Really! Honest!"

"Hmmm…?"

"I'm serious!"

"Better make sure Mineta and Kaminari doesn't find out…"

"Huh?"

"Eh?"

Their conversation was interrupted as they heard a loud scream, and as the two boys turn around they saw Athena is being dragged into what appeared to be a speedboat with a hood, and there Bakugo took notice as well as the two boys overheard the teen girl resisting while pleading to let her be but the men, dressed in druid-like uniforms, are speaking as well, and though Midoriya seemingly couldn't understand what the other group is saying, Bakugo deduced that the group who are dragging the teenager into the speedboat are Greek, which the tone is based on their vocal accents.

"What do you want with me?"

"You are to come with us…"

"And you will be the key in the commencement of the GREAT REVIVAL…"

"So that the NETHERWORLD will rise once more…you are to be sacrificed…for you are a descendant of Zeus…therefore you have the blood of Zeus and Metis flowing within you…thus you will serve as the means to reopen the gates of HADES."

"Are you a cult or something? You're crazy! I am living here as a student! And stop using Greek mythology as an excuse to harass me! So stop spouting nonsense and unhand me! Or I'll call the police!"

"You will come back to Greece."

"Regardless if you're on foreign land, the mission still stands."

"And the descendant of Neff WANTED you back at our MOTHER LAND…by hook or crook. You are to be sacrificed in order for the demons of Hades to rule the world."

Although Bakugo doesn't understand Greek, he had an impression that the men in druid suits have malevolent intentions, especially after he and Midoriya saw the men in druid-like suits punched the teen on her stomach before slapping her several times in a callous way before she is knocked out.

The men in druid-like suits then quickly carried the teen girl away and jumped towards a waiting speedboat before speeding away, and Midoriya is compelled to go after them which Bakugo sighed as he couldn't let Midoriya go by himself, and saw another speedboat parked and there he and Midoriya hopped on and went after the other speedboat, and a minute later the two Class 1-A members are slowly catching up with the other speedboat and the Greek men in druid-like suits saw the speedboat behind them.

As the driver stepped on the pedal and the speedboat sped away further, Midoriya stepped on the pedal and is catching up with the speedboat in front of them, and Bakugo smirked as he wondered what the druid-like men are doing at the Klayd border and why are they engaging in a kidnapping activity, which had Midoriya wondering if the kidnappers are surviving members of Humarise.

"So you think that they're part of Humarise? Sounds like an interesting theory, Deku..."

"Just a hunch, Ka-chan…"

"You need to watch more Detective Conan episodes…because you got the wrong impression. If those druid cosplayers are Humarise members they'd be targeting those with Quirks…and the girl they took appeared to be Quirkless. If she has a Quirk she'd already kicked their assholes."

"We better stop them and save the girl…then get answers from them…"

"Sounds good to me. Maybe a Greek version of Russian roulette would be interesting…"

"Ka-chan…!"

"Just kidding. Just focus on getting closer to that speedboat…"

"I'm on it!"

As the speedboat chase is ongoing, Midoriya's DANGER SENSE Quirk activated, and there he began to sense the incoming danger as he grabbed Bakugo and jumped behind the back area of the speedboat and two seconds later a huge creature emerged from the waters and rammed head-first onto the speedboat, causing the vehicle to explode, and there you can see that Midoriya is using his FLOAT Quirk while holding Bakugo, and there the two Class 1-A members stared wide-eyed at what they are seeing.

"What the…?"

"The heck is that…?"

"Is that…?"

"If that's a Nomu..."

"No, Ka-chan…it doesn't look like a Nomu…it looks more like…"

"Are you damn serious, Deku?"

"The looks of it…"

"…"

The creature that emerged from the waters appeared to resemble a hydra, which is said to be a serpentine land monster in Greek mythology. Midoriya and Bakugo were surprised to see that the hydra was quite large and is roaring, which the two teens wonder if this creature is real or a Nomu, yet they realized that this is something they can't ignore should the hydra makes its way towards the mainland.

And several seconds later, a submarine emerged and the hull opened, where a rope-like ladder was thrown out and the suspected Greek men in druid-like uniforms, carrying their unconscious prisoner, climbed onto the submarine and went inside.

The scene zoomed inside the submarine where it showed that the ones inside are also men in druid-like uniforms, and they appeared to be callous even when told that the pursuers are minors, yet the other men in druid-like uniforms said that it doesn't matter, as completing the mission is what's important.

"Óste oi dióktes sou eínai aplá paidiá…?"

"Naí."

"Émoiazan perípou 16 etón…"

"Ki ómos échoun kótsia"

"Den peirázei. Tha ta antimetopísei i ýdra. Xéreis tis entolés mas".

"Fysiká. Paradídoume to korítsi sti Nef. Prépei na échei to korítsi, giatí eínai to kleidí gia na anoíxoun xaná oi PYLES TOU ARI se aftó to vasíleio."

"Chorís erotíseis."

"Apolýtos."

To Be Continued...

Hope you liked this chapter, as it partially retells the events leading to the conclusion of the World Heroes Mission story, but diverges significantly in which Midoriya meets a beautiful Greek teenager who happened to recognize Midoriya through the Livestream telecast of the UA Academy Sports Festival, which she requested to him to become chat-mates before an abduction incident happened at the Klayd soil, which she was taken away before the kidnappers took off, where Midoriya and Bakugo gives chase and a murder attempt at the open seas…

That's where the Greek mythology plot comes in as the antagonists of this chapter said that the girl they kidnapped is a descendant of the Greek god Zeus and that her sacrifice would be needed…and what this means for Midoriya and Bakugo, who are currently facing what appeared to be a creature based on a Greek mythology creature…

Preview:

Bakugo and Midoriya's situation are about to intensify as they accidentally find themselves embroiled in a situation which takes them to another foreign country while attempting to rescue the kidnapped Greek teenager…
