Chapter Eight
Break-ups, Make-ups, and Ice Cream
~We never got it right
Playing and replaying old conversations
Overthinking every word and I hate it
Cause it's not me
And what's the point in hiding
Everybody knows we got unfinished business
And I'll regret it if I didn't say this isn't what it could be.
You could break my heart in two
But when it heals, it beats for you
I know it's forward, but it's true.~
Terry's POV
He ended up staying at Terri's apartment till five in the evening. He would've stayed longer, but her Bitchy Roommate came home and didn't want to deal with him. Not after waking her up at three in the morning and ruining a good night's sleep for her to perform well at work and blah blah blah. He tuned her out enough to give Terri a kiss good-bye, a promise he will text her later before walking out the door. God, he hated that woman, but the only reason Terri put up with her is because she pays half of her rent on time. Luckily for them, they work different hours of the day so they hardly see each other. As soon as he got into his car, a deep frown formed heavily on his face. He didn't want to go home. Not after what happened last night, in fact, it left him pondering how the hell he's going to handle the situation when he gets home. Would Korvo avoid him just like before? Was he still passed out on the floor in the living room or was he awake and waiting for him? And if he was waiting for him, will they finally let it all out and talk? Not to mention, how well will he take the news about leaving him to go to Spain?
His stomach made a disgusting growl and he had to swallow the urge to vomit thanks to all those god awful banana pancakes Terri made him eat. All twenty-four of them.
When he got home, fearing to find Korvo still passed out on the floor in his own vomit, he hesitated to go inside for a few seconds and contemplated if he should just leave or not. It wasn't till he heard the Replicants talking on the other side that he calmly opened the door to let himself in. Instead of finding Korvo passed out, he found all the furniture pushed up against the walls with the Reps and the Pupa sitting down on a large wooden door. The Titanic movie was playing on the T.V. again at a low volume.
"Hey Terry, we were wondering when you were coming home?" Jesse said in a happy tone.
"Yeah, because it's dinner time and Jesse and I don't feel like eating cereal again." Yummers said, carelessly which was rewarded by Jesse elbowing him in the arm. "Ow, what was that for? At least you got the last bowl of the Fruity Pebbles."
He sighed, Neglected Replicants only means Korvo was up and hiding somewhere. "Where's Korvo, normally he has dinner ready around this time."
Yummer's shrugs, "He's on the ship again either sleeping off that hangover or crying, who knows. He's been up there for a couple of hours now."
"I wouldn't go up there. He's in a bad mood right now and it didn't help when he found out we skipped school today." Jesse added.
"Who the fuck cares. You guys are like teenagers here, it's common to skip school. In fact, why not take the rest of the week off just to piss him off more. Knowing him, he won't be down from the ship in a few days." He said, putting on a fake smile.
"Really? And you're not going to ground us or shit like that?" Yummers asked in excitement.
"Why bother? I mean I'm sure you two are either failing or still on the Honor Roll, so it's not going to kill you to skip a couple of days."
"Wow Terry, you're the best." Jesse said, smiling. "That will give us extra free-time to work on our project." Showing off the giant wooden door they were sitting on.
"Yeah, about that. Um, what the hell is going on here?" He asked while crossing his arms.
Jesse grumbled, "I'm trying to prove to Yumyulack that it was possible for Rose to share the wooden door with Jack instead of letting him freeze to death like the selfish little bitch she is."
"AND I said she needed to get over it because the Director, science and even Mythbuster said it was impossible because although the board was wide enough it wasn't sturdy enough to carry two people without it sinking." Yummers argued.
"So we decided to make the same exact height, weight and shape of the board to test it out ourselves and record the results for our TikTok page." Jesse smiled.
"Neat." He said, only to scratch his head. "But how can you get accurate results if the board is not in water, plus your weight is different from Jack and Rose, not to mention, it's not actually cold in here?"
"Well, my idea was to kidnap Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet and use them as test dummies by abandoning them in the middle of the lake with the board but Jesse thought that would be cruel" Yummers said, smugly.
"Well, that would lead to a lawsuit if you go down that route not to mention serious backlash on social media." He said.
"So we're going to make fake dummies instead and to make sure it has the whole "Titanic vibe" I'm going to use the freeze ray to lower the water temperature down to the same exact temperature the night of the sinking."
"Wow, you two really thought of everything." He said, impressed.
"I know, and once this project fails like everything else in Jesse's life, she's going to have to do my chorus for an entire month." Yummer said, while rubbing his hands together in a wicket way.
"Once we make the dummies, we should have this project ready to go by tomorrow. We were going to ask you and Korvo to come along and watch us, but since he's hiding in the ship, do you want to invite Terri instead."
"Sounds nice Jesse-bean, but I'm going to be busy for the next couple of days. I've decided to take Terri on a two-week vacation to Spain for some good old rest and relaxation." He said, proudly. And he's going to make sure nothing stands in his way.
The Reps went silent for a moment before Jesse cleared her throat. "Wow Terry, what brought that on?"
Yummer leaned towards her to whisper. "My bet is that he fucked up on something and need to get out of town for a few days."
Jesse sighed, "Damn, so what alibi do we need to tell the cops and how many bodies do we need to hide?"
"Not to mention, how much money are we getting out of this?" Yummers demanded.
He jerked back, slightly offended. "What!? No! God, you need to stop watching all those Law and Order shows. I'm just going to take Terri out on a Vacation because (I'm mad at Korvo and want to get away from him for a while.) that's what boyfriends do, they spoil their girlfriends." He said, rolling his eyes before walking past them to go into the kitchen. "Yup, just a fun vacation, nothing more. I mean, sure it was very last minute, but that's just how I roll, baby. It definitely has nothing to do with Korvo and how much he's been pissing me off lately." He said loudly with a bitter sense of humor in his tone. All in a while, opening and slamming cabinet's doors looking for a snack. Damn, with Korvo shutting him out on the ship and him spending time with Terri, no one took the time to get some food for the house. The only thing appealing he could find was a bag of Takis chips, he knew Korvo was saving for himself. Still bitter towards the blue Asshole, he grabbed the bag and opened them up. "I mean did I say Korvo pissed me off? Shit,...I mean…why should I be mad? It's not like he invited himself to a Club last night with me and Terri only to get drunk, make a scene and call Terri horrible things." He laughed, while spraying a few Takis crumbs on the floor. "And it definitely has nothing to do with Korvo confessing things to me before kissing me on the mouth. Ha ha ha. Nope, it's just a vacation that's all…not a way to run away from my problems…"
He stared at the Reps, hoping they would drop the subject. Yummers blinked, "What?!" He asked, slightly disturbed.
"Terry, what's going on?" Jesse asked.
He shoved another handful of Takis in his mouth and started to sweat a bit. "Nothing…um…don't worry about it…" He said, turning away from them to hide his nervous face. "Who wants Take-Out!? I'll order and we can discuss more about your project over Chinese noodles and those strange fortune cookies." He said, walking back into the kitchen to find the Chinese food menu. It didn't take long for the Reps to talk about him and was compelled to listen in.
"Man, I hate it when they act this way. This is worse than those Soap Operas Terry watches or that sex scandal going on at school between the history teacher and the Janitor." Yummers complained.
"Leave Terry alone. It's Korvo I'm more worried about. Every time Terry is happy, he tends to ruin it."
There was a pause as he grabbed the menu from the drawer before hearing Yummers chuckling. "I bet you twenty dollars Korvo is going to snap when he finds out about Terry's trip."
"You're on!" Jesse replied.
Later that night…
As predicted, Korvo didn't come down from the ship and for once, it didn't really bother him…Ok, it did bother him a little, but not enough to go up there and force him to talk to him. If Korvo wanted to talk about what happened after the club then he needs to make the first move. He was done trying to get him to open up about where they were as Partners and need to focus on his existing (and healthier) relationship. He sighed and shifted his body around on the couch till he was staring up at the ceiling….
So why does every part of his Being want to go up there and see him? Korvo was only two levels up and it was that hard to overwrite the Ship to get in….
The memory of Korvo and him on the couch played in his mind and couldn't help, but touch his lips from remembering the taste of his Leader's kiss. He grumbled before hitting his head with his closed fists. No, he will not go down that road again. After Korvo kissed him, he so badly wanted to take it to the next level despite them both being drunk, but he couldn't do that to Terri. He may be the City's Slut (both on this planet and Homeworld), but he knew how to commit. He never cheated on Lifemate Terri and wouldn't do that to Human Terri either.
(I love you, Terry)
The look of pain and desperation on Korvo's face when he said those words flashed before his eyes and realize he couldn't be alone with his thoughts. He didn't want to be alone either, so with that in mind, he pulled out his phone, wincing from the bright light on the screen, and started to text Terri. Not even caring it was Eleven o'clock at night.
11:00 p.m. Text: Are you still awake, Boo? He waited impatiently for a response. He had a feeling that if she didn't reply he was going to confront Korvo. He place the phone down on his chest to hide the light and tapped his fingers on it. Above the ceiling fan spun quietly. Finally he heard a "ding." on his phone.
11:02 p.m. Text Terri: Yeah, just binge watching a show on Hulu. Are you Ok?
He shook his head, that was so like Terri, both of them in fact, always making sure if he was doing well instead of saying "What's up."
11:03 p.m. Text: Nice, care for some company? He texted, hoping she would say yes. He needed her again, whether for a warm body to cuddle with or just to help him get rid of this forbidden sexual tension he has for his Team Leader. He…just needed her.
11:04 p.m. Text Terri: Now? It's a tad bit late don't you think?
11: 05 p.m. Text: I figure you had so much fun the other night, we can do it again. He flirted.
11:07 p.m. Text Terri: You're silly.
11:08 p.m. Text: So is that a No?
11:09 p.m. Text Terri: Sure, just be a little quieter this time. Gabby was pretty pissed off at you for waking her up at 3 in the morning. :)
11:11 p.m. Text: Be there in ten minutes.
He got up from the couch, grabbed his shoes and the car's keys and was out the door in a matter of seconds. When he got there, Terri didn't waste time letting him into her apartment and into her warm bed. Their small talk was quick, their kisses were tender and soon clothes were discarded on the floor. The act of sex was good, Terri expressed it well through her pants and moans and a fresh batch of bites and scratches on his back. An hour later, he was watching her sleep, slightly shivering due to the blanket barely covering her naked body, and couldn't help, but smile.
The next three days were very blissful in his perspective. Korvo was staying on the ship, the Reps were on his good side since he allowed them to skip school for the rest of the week and Terri was actually getting excited about the Trip. She even gave him a bunch of Brochures for him to look at and a lot of hotels that got five star ratings on Yelp. He was so glad Terri decided to go on this trip with him, seeing her smiling while getting her stuff ready was enough to make him so warm inside. No drama, no fighting or complaining, it really felt like he got his old Lifemate back.
Sadly, all that blissfulness came to a halt thanks to one phone call…literally one day before leaving for Spain. He was already in a shitty mood thanks to dealing with the humans at the "Edible Arrangements" store. Some pimple face idiot got the date of pick-up wrong on his order so when he went up there to get it, it wasn't made. After a lot of yelling and waiting for nearly two hours for them to make his order, he was walking towards his car with the giant vase full of Fruity Flowers when his phone went off. It was a struggle getting his phone out of his pocket while holding the damn thing, but he managed to answer it no less. "Hey Jesse-bear, how's the shopping going?" He asked happily while trying to balance the phone between his shoulder and cheek while holding on to the bouquet. Why on Earth did he order the biggest one they had, he'll never know. The place was so misleading anyway, they shouldn't put the word "Edible" in their name knowing they weren't selling Weed. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Jesse, Sweetie, calm down, it's hard for me to understand you." He said, confused. Jesse was crying hysterically on the phone with Yummers yelling in the background about a video he needed to see and something about Terri and Korvo. They were talking at the same time, they couldn't get their story straight. "Jesse, will you please take a deep breath and tell me what's wrong?" He asked, before hearing Jesse take a deep breath. He ended up dropping the vase on the ground, shattering it all over the parking lot. "Korvo did what!?"

~You know, my thoughts are running loose
It's just a thing you make me do
And I could fight, bu what's the use
I know I'd go back to you.
I wanna hold you when I'm not supposed to
When I'm lying close to someone else
You're stuck in my head and I can't get you out of it
If I could do it all again
I know I'd go back to you.~

He didn't mean for things to escalate so quickly or badly if that matter. To his credit, the second he punched Korvo in the face, he instantly regretted it. He was just so angry, so frustrated and down right hurt from his Leader's words, he just snapped. After finding out what Korvo did to Terri, the only thing on his mind was to confront him whether Korvo liked it or not and get the necklace back. Yet, it didn't go according to plan, nothing ever goes according to plan when it involves the two of them and they ended up having a screaming match with him punching Korvo in the face. He didn't even know how badly he hit him until he saw his knuckles cut up and Korvo staring at him in disbelief. Even going as far as removing his hand from his mouth to reveal his busted lip and blood on his palm.
"Oh fuck! Korvo…I-I-I…fuck, I didn't' mean to…I'm so sorry…I lost my temper-"
He tried to apologize, taking a step back to give Korvo space, only to get tackled to the ground by Korvo. Rage burning in his Mission Leader's eyes.
They started to fight…and it was loud, mean and violent. Sure there were times things got physical during one of their little spats, but this time was different. Korvo was angry as if all this tension and broken connection between them was everyone's fault, but his. It was like all the pain, hate, frustration over the past few months finally exploded in Korvo's harsh words and his punch. All he wanted was Terri's necklace back and for Korvo to leave Terri alone, but no, simple things like that were too challenging for his mission leader. Korvo wanted to be mean, using his verbal abuse to gaslit him. Not only did he insult Terri, but he went after his Lifemate Terri as well. Even going as far as asking him if he thought about his Life Mate while screwing Human Terri in bed.
The fight felt like hours in his bruised head. It was hard for him to think straight due to him getting hit in the face over and over again. The only thing keeping him from blacking out was the last conversation he had with Terri. She was so distraught and down right confused from what Korvo told her and tried to do. She knew his Leader didn't like her, but she didn't think he would go as far as trying to kill her. He tried to reason with her, going as far as making the whole situation a funny joke on Korvo's side, but she was too upset to let it slide. He tried to calm her down only to panic when she stated maybe it was best they don't see each other anymore. As long as Korvo was around, she wouldn't feel safe and the last thing she wanted was for him to choose…
The whole room was spinning at this point with a weird ringing jiggling in his head. He could hear Aisha screaming at them to stop and Korvo yelling back at her in protest. He tried to take control of the situation by putting Korvo into a headlock, but was elbowed hard into the stomach. He can tell Korvo was getting tired, he was panting and his blows were getting weaker by the second. Too much lying around or on the computer doesn't build up a lot of muscle, but the anger was still there. That was the only thing keeping his mission leader going.
There was so much screaming between them, it got to the point that Korvo was literally spitting saliva and blood in his face as the insults grew meaner and pettier. Korvo couldn't understand why he could give up everything for a lousy human which made him bring up how Korvo nearly did the same thing with the Red Goobler not too long ago. It wasn't till Korvo insulted him by calling him a Creep for sleeping with a human-version of his Lifemate when he finally had enough. He punched him hard in the face to shut him up before pinning him down completely to the floor by the wrists.
Korvo didn't even try to resist. With blood dripping from his mouth and his left eye swelling, he looked up at him with this defeated face. Waiting for him to say something so he sneered. "Alright, we get it, you are mad at me for being with Terri, but all this is fucking YOUR fault! He hollered, making Korvo flinch from putting so much emphasis on the word "Your." If Korvo wanted to blame anyone for their issues and disconnection, he might as well get it straight. "You HAD to be picky with your coffee, you HAD to make me go to another Starbucks!" Getting a flashback to that day when he first saw Terri. Dress in her Starbucks uniform and smelling like berries despite the strong scented coffee in the air. He wasn't meant to be there to see her. He was meant to go to his usual place where everyone knew him . "You HAD to make things so difficult when all you HAD to do was tell me the Truth! The same truth you told me when we slept together and when you told me that night after the Club!"
Why was it so hard for Korvo to express himself emotionally? Like the way he did when they were at the Whole Food Place after being chased around town by the Nappadoodles. Naked and covered in cake and pink frosting, he told him how he felt. How the thought of losing him to his Dinner Party Friends frightened him. They shared a gentle kiss and made up that night and even slept together for the first time. There was so much passion, he thought he was in a dream. He could still remember Korvo whispering those three little words softly against his lips during the Afterglow.
He waited for Korvo to say something. To speak from his three hearts instead of holding it all in due to his Pride and upbringings. A small blush appeared on Korvo's blood smeared cheeks and he looked away in shame.
"I was drunk, Terry."
He saw red. He gave Korvo every single opportunity to tell him his true feelings and he wouldn't take it. He would rather destroy everything he held dear to him, their partnership, his social circle and his relationship with Terri than admit he made a mistake. He would rather see him lonely and unhappy than in a new relationship with a human that adores him. Live with this coldness between them instead of giving Them a try as a couple. He was livid. There were so many tears coming out of his eyes, he could see them dripping and soaking into Krovo's torn up robe. He let go of his Mission Leader's wrists to scream. It was too much and if Korvo wanted to hurt him then he'll hurt him even worse.
"FINE! Believe what you want!" He screamed so loud, his throat started to burn. "It's too late anyway, Korvo! I'm going to be with Terri, I'm going to Spain and I'm going to be happy and I'm going to move on even if it means leaving you behin-"
Just like the night after the club, Korvo grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him down for a desperate, hard kiss. All bets were off this time in his mind. Korvo wasn't drunk or depressed or in need for attention and a warm body, so there was no way he could deny this kiss. Perhaps this was his way to confess without words, either way it was sweet and annoying at the same time. Without even thinking, he kissed him back with full passion. Parting his mouth in order for their tongues to entwine and taste their blood. He let out a small moan while cupping Korvo's face to make sure he wouldn't pull away. He felt Korvo's hands snaking up his shirt, feeling those rough fingertips against his smooth, delicate skin and causing him to shudder and grind his clothed mound against his. Feeling the heat underneath that black, thick robe.
It wasn't till one of Korvo's fingers brushed up against a scratch mark on his shoulder blades when he snapped out of his lustful haze and pulled away from his Mission Partner. "Dammit Korvo!" He shouted, feeling the tears run down his eyes and began to bang his fists on the floor. "Dammit, Dammit, Dammit!" He shouted, just when he thought he was done with him, Korvo would pull him back in. Fuck, he was so close too. Last night, he was at Terri's apartment again, both naked and tired after sex (giving him a fresh layer of bites and scratches on his skin, but he didn't mind.) and enjoying some funny Pillow Talk in the dark. The night ended with her sleeping peacefully on his chest and him kissing her on the top of her head…now everything was ruined. As far as he knows, Terri didn't want to see him anymore. She didn't flat out say it, but she didn't want to be with him if Korvo was around and she was too mature to force him to choose. He was so angry and confused, he didn't know what to do now. He should just get up and walk away. Leave Korvo behind and go work things out with Terri and try not to Fuck things up like he normally do…
"Yeah…I liked it too." He heard Korvo whisper in defeat.
They stared at each other, pondering who was going to make the next move, the exit door was close by, his ticket out of this mess and live a happy life, but the longer he stared at Korvo's beat-up face the harder it was to leave. Despite being so angry at him and ruining things for him…again…he missed him. So much, he pulled him in for another heated kiss. Korvo didn't even fight it, going as far as gripping his graphic t-shirt tightly with his fingers. Pulling him closer, getting him as close as possible, and molding each other together like clay. Korvo made a small hiss when he ran his tongue over his busted lip, a small apology for punching him, before going back to kissing him deeply and passionately. Letting a small moan escape when Korvo parted to kiss him down the neck before quickly taking off his shirt. There was a pause, and he could see Korvo staring at the freshly raw bite mark on the crook of his neck. It didn't take Korvo long to realize he was with Terri last night and the best part about it, he didn't wash away the evidence. He was sure Korvo could smell it on him at this close range. That mixture of Mixed Berry perfume and human bodily fluids.
"She loves to bite…" He whispered while reaching up to unbutton his robes. "Apparently I taste like Maple to her." Letting that awful Petty part of him come out. Might as well be a little bitch to Korvo since he tried to hurt Terri.
He was pinned to the floor with a loud clang and looked up to see pure hate and jealousy in Korvo's eyes. His robes was wide open, showing off his beautiful, blue skin with a few dark blue blotches from where he hit him and huffed. "Asshole…"
He smirked, "You started it…" while pulling down his pants. Getting a look at a long-missed scene of Korvo's mound and roots slowly appearing. Fuck, it was like he brought them back to life.
"I showed you how I feel and you have the nerve to mention the human?" He hissed, while unbuttoning his shorts to get a little peek that he wasn't wearing any underwear. Oh that's right, he left them at Terri's house last night.
"Aww, what's the matter, Korvy? You don't like her marks on me?" He asked in a daring tone. His own roots are out as well, sensing and searching desperately for another Shlorpian to entwine with for a deep connection instead of a shallow rub down with humans.
"No, they look disgusting on you." Korvo said, in a cold demeanor.
"Well toooo fucking bad, they're there to stay." He chuckled darkly while being pulled by the legs till their mounds and roots were only mere inches away from touching. The look on Korvo's face was quite scary. No reaction, just half lidded eyes and his face turning dark purple from being horny, pissed and flustered.
"Unless I get rid of them." Korvo shouted before biting him hard on his neck. Right on top of Terri's own teeth mark. Their roots instantly connect and twist in pleasure that he had to hold on to Korvo for dear life.
"Oh fuck…dammit Korvo!" He shouted, before pulling him away from his shoulder for another salty kiss. His shoulder was now slowly bleeding out and forming a small puddle next to him. They parted lips again and glared at each other while panting angrily. He tried to flip over to take the lead, never in his life was he ever the bottom, but held him down. The look on the blue Shlorpian said it all. Something Dear was taken from him and now he was going to take it back. Yet…"This doesn't change…" He let out a loud moan when Korvo started to move his hips, adding pressure against their twisted roots. "Anything." He finished while digging his nails into Korvo's back.
While he was getting rage fucked by Korvo, he failed to notice his phone going off in his short's pocket followed by a text message from Terri…
00000000
The next morning started out with a loud scream coming from Jesse. Followed by his eyes snapping open and a huge headache pounding behind his sockets. What the hell happened last night. Every part of his body hurt like hell and for some reason he was on the floor of the ship right on top of a sleeping Korvo…
"Shit!" He shouted while sitting up on Korvo's lap. Just a few feet away stood Jesse, covering her eyes in embarrassment with her arm while showing off a sad and rather disappointed look on her face.
"Um Terry…Korvo…I'm sorry for disturbing you, but-"
Korvo started to groan and slowly began to open his eyes. "What's going on?"
They were both naked with all their discarded clothes scattered all over the floor with only Korvo's robe being used as a blanket for them. No wonder Jesse screamed from the sight and had to cover her eyes.
"Can you please put on some clothes?" Jesse asked politely as possible, getting Korvo's attention.
Korvo sat up quickly, knocking him off his lap in the process and gasped, "Jesse, what the hell are you doing here!" He shouted while scrambling to find something to cover him up.
"I was looking for Terry. He wasn't answering his phone, so I came up here to see if you've seen him." Jesse said, still keeping her eyes closed. "I mean I know he came up here to talk to you…but-"
"Will you get out!" Korvo shouted while covering himself with his graphic t-shirt.
"But Terri is here and she wants to talk to you, Terry." She said, sadly.
He jumped onto his feet in disbelief. "What! She's here and she wants to talk to me!?"
Jesse nodded, "Should I tell her you'll call her later or…deliver the bad news so you don't have too."
Korvo scoffed, "Just tell her to leave. Why is she here anyway, I told her not to come back and-...Terry? Terry, where are you going!"
Putting on Korvo's robe since it was the only piece of clothing he had in his hands, he quickly grabbed Terri's necklace and ran out of the command center at full speed while hearing Korvo chasing after him, yelling at him to stop. "What does it look like? I'm going to talk to my girlfriend." He shouted back while buttoning up the robe. He passed by a large mirror in the ship and took a short glimpse at himself and fuck, he looked like shit. Both his eyes were black with the right one swollen shut and he had bruises and hickeys all over his face and neck. No time to cover them up either…
"You're what?!" Korvo spat in disbelief while catching up to him. "You can't be serious. I thought you were done with her!"
"No, I thought she was done with me, but she's not and I'm going to make things right." He said, exiting the ship and making his way down the stairs.
"You fucking Dick, so us making up last night meant nothing!" Korvo shouted while grabbing him by the robe. Korvo forced him to turn around to face him, not even caring that he was wearing his clothes. The shorts weren't even buttoned and his shirt could barely go over his pudgy belly. He would've laughed at the sight of Korvo wearing his clothes, but now was not the time.
"Oh NOW it means something? Why don't we forget it just like the last time! I do recall a certain Asshole telling me there is no "Us" and never will be!" He shouted back.
"That was back then and you would think us fighting and fucking around last night was me apologizing for making that mistake!" Korvo shouted back.
At this point Jesse was standing at the top of the stairs listening and could see Yummers entering the Living room from the kitchen with a soda in his hand. They were wise to keep their mouths shut. "Words! Korvo, it's called using Words! And it doesn't matter now. It's too late and I'm going to make things up with Terri." He shouted while pointing at the door. He stormed down the rest of the stairway and over to the door.
"Fine, I get it, it's too late and I fucked up, but don't walk away after telling me last night was a mistake! You're the one who wanted to give "Us" a try and now you're walking away?! That's not Terri-with-an-I, she's gone, probably on the other side of the Universe with her team and Pupa! What is it going to take to realize she is just a human, one of billions on this Dump of a Planet. That's not the real Terri!" When he didn't face knowing all of that was true, Korvo took it up a notch. "Will you turn around and tell me because I clearly don't understand how your mind works, Terry!" Korvo shouted.
He turned around angrily, "Do you know what I don't understand Korvo!" He started, not even caring that the Reps and the Pupa were right there listening. "That I love you, Korvo. I love you so much it's scary because when our Homeworld blew up and I lost my Lifemate, I thought I would never find love again. I thought she was it for me because no one could put up with me like she did, but I was wrong. Sure we fight a lot and call each other horrible names, and there were times we couldn't stand each other, but in the end, we always have each others' back. I really thought I found love and happiness again with you, but you didn't want it. You were too scared to want it and now when I'm with somebody else, someone who actually wants me, you can't handle it. Well, fuck it, I meant what I said and despite me still in love with an Asshole like you, I'm not going to mess up this relationship with her."
He turned around and gripped the doorknob…feeling a slight bit of coldness from the sudden tension in the air. The whole room was quiet with only the Titanic movie playing in the background. He's watched the movie so many times, he knows what part Yumyulack was on without even looking at it.
"...I'm too involved now, you jump, I jump remember? I can't turn away without knowing you'll be alright….that's all that I want…" The movie played.
"Terry…" Korvo called out to him. Not out of anger, but in a sad pleading desperation to move away from the door and away from Terri.
He sighed, he has a chance to be happy and safe with Terri again and he can't lose it, so without looking back he opened the door to see Terri waiting for him by his car and walked outside. Inside Korvo started to yell…
"Fuck you Terry, if you leave, don't even bother coming bac-"
He slammed the door behind him while looking at Terri who had the same sad, disappointing look on her face like Jesse did. Inside the house, there was a loud explosion followed by Yumyulack screeching.
"What the hell, man. Why did you blow up the T.V.!"
"I am NOT watching that stupid movie again!" Korvo screamed back.
He rolled his eyes before putting on a fake smile even though it felt like he was marching down death row. When he made it over to her, she didn't bother to hug him, greet him or even flash him her sweet smile. She just stood there with her back leaning against the car while staring at the grass. Honestly, he didn't know what to say or how to react in this situation. Normally, when his human lovers were upset, they tend to scream, shout or throw things at him, not just stand there in pure silence. Terri didn't even look mad, more disappointed and heartbroken.
He picked at the black sleeves of Korvo's robe and realized he's going to have to explain why he was wearing nothing, but this ugly black thing. Literally nothing. Butt-ass naked from the neck down. He cleared his throat, "Um…I'm surprised you wanted to see me. You were very angry on the phone with the…you know…Korvo trying to kill you and all." He was wise enough not to giggle, because Terri didn't look like she was in the mood for jokes.
She eyed him up and down and let out a small huff. "I tried to call you last night, but I can see you and Korvo were…Busy."
He slouched, no point trying to deny it or make up excuses, and rubbed his sore arm with his hand. "Look…it's-it's not what it looks like…we were fighting and…and…I punched him in the face…and then he kissed me…and…" He could see her eyes watering. He's seen Past Lovers cry as well, but seeing Terri tearing up rip something in him. That same pain he felt when Korvo rejected him all those months ago. "...I really fucked up, didn't I?"
She nodded, "Yeah, and it didn't help that I was waiting by the door and heard you and him fighting on the other side. Now it all makes sense, why you and him were always on edge with each other and why he didn't like me and the weird part about this, when he told me you were just using me because I look like your old Lifemate, I thought he was just lying to get me to leave you, but it was all true, wasn't it?" It felt like he couldn't talk, all he could do was stare at her with deep regret and guilt. He could tell she wanted to hit him, which he wouldn't mind, he deserved it, but instead she pulled a picture out of her pocket and handed it to him. "I found this when I was cleaning my room. It must've fallen out of your shorts the last time you were there."
He stared at the picture of Lifemate Terri that had "Always your Boo Boo Girl ~Terri with an I" written in Shlorpian letters. He's been carrying the photo around ever since he met Human Terri at the Starbucks.
"You told me she was just a friend, but…she was really your wife…Lifemate, right?"
"Yes, she was."
"So you only saw me as some cheap, ugly, knock-off of her like Korvo said? She asked, but when he didn't say anything again out of shame, she held back the tears, turned around and walked away. "Good-bye, Terry."
(I'm sorry, Terry) He remembered Lifemate Terri saying before walking away from him and their life together. All over the same stupid mission ninety-eight other teams were assigned too. (Please, forgive me)
"No, wait, don't go Terri." He begged while following her. Something he wished he had done with Lifemate Terri. "We can work things out. Let me fix it. I promise Korvo won't get in between us again…"
Her car was parked two houses down. Probably to make sure Korvo didn't hear her coming over to avoid another drastic scene. "Terry, I don't know how it works in outer space or on your planet, but Alien or human, I don't like Two-timers and that's even the worst part. You were just using me! As your Lifemate's off brand Copy to get back at Korvo for crying out loud!" She shouted, dumbfounded by the whole thing. "I mean, can I even call that a rebound?!"
He caught up to her, "That was a mistake. I told him how I felt and he didn't want anything to do with me. The only thing he cared about was our Mission, I was a mess, I didn't know what I was going to do with myself. Then I saw you, you took my breath away the moment I heard your laughter. You laughed just like my Terri did."
She whipped around, causing him to nearly crash into her, stunned. "She had the same name as me? What the hell, Terry!?"
"Right, right, I forgot to mention that as well."
She shook her head, "Again, good-bye Terry."
He started to panic"No, no, no, Terri, please. Let me make things right, hit me in the mound if you want, have a Free Pass, I'll do anything, but for the love of god, PLEASE, DON'T GO!" He shouted, before turning her around to hug her tightly.
The sudden move caused them to fall to their knees and he started to shake in fear. He buried his face in the crook of her petite shoulder, trying his hardest not to cry, but ended up spilling the tears when she quietly called out his name. "Terry…"
He cried quietly. "Please don't go. Please don't leave me again, Terri. Ever since we split apart back on Homeworld, I've been so miserable and lost without you. For years I've been so hurt and angry at you for choosing your team over me, I had to turn to sex, drugs and booze just to dull the pain and now that you're back, you want to leave me again? Why does everyone I care about leave…first you then Korvo…then…then…" He started to choke and took a deep breath to calm down…"For the love of God, please don't leave. I won't be able to handle watching you walk away from me again. Please…" He hugged her tighter, soaking her shirt with his tears. "Please."
He flinched when she gently hugged him back. "Terry…" She whispered before softly pushing him away from her so she could face him. She hesitated, knowing very well what she was about to say will crush him and cupped his face. "...I'm not her, Terry."
"Yes you are, you have no idea how much you two are alike. Everything from the shade of pink you wear, to the way you laugh and even being a crazy health Nut…Fuck, she was so amazing, just like you…She…she just knew how to get me out of a dark hole, Terri. She just knew how to make everything better…" Where the fuck was he going with this is, shit, he really have lost it. "I guess…after what happened to Korvo and meeting you…it felt like I had her back, knowing very well she would make things alright again…He confessed, though saying it outloud does sound like a sucking way to say "Yes, I was using you."
Terri sighed, now she was crying, but she kept her cool no less. "Terry, I'm not her and even if there was some…Alien way to make me her, you would still be looking at Korvo over me."
He frowned, letting his eyes trail down to his hands gripping the fabric of Korvo's robes on his legs. "There is still time to go to Spain. It can be our way to start over." He suggested very quietly before pulling out the necklace he made from the Robes' pocket. "I mean…things have been so good between us…"
Terri stared at the necklace before letting out a small, sad sigh. "Terry, when we were together, did you ever saw Me? Or did you only see your Lifemate?"
He stared at her with guilt in his eyes. The silence gave her the answer so there was no point wasting her time to hear him out. "I'm so sorry, Terri."
She frowned and wiped a tear away from her cheek. "Yeah, I'm sorry too." She said, picking herself up from the ground.
He just sat there, defeated. "If it means anything, I did care about you…you really helped me through a miserable time."
She gave him a sad smile "Well, that's nice to know, I guess." She said, taking out her car's keys. "And if it makes you feel any closure, I'm sure it wasn't easy for…Terri to leave you behind"
"What? How would you know?" He asked.
"Because if I was like her in every way, it must've been painful to say good-bye" She whispered before walking away from him and their relationship. She didn't even look back. She just got in her car and left him there on the sidewalk ground. Gone, just like Lifemate Terri years ago…

Later that Night…
He's been on the rooftop for what felt like hours, rethinking where he went wrong in life while slightly hoping Terri would come back. A half container of melted ice cream sat next to him with dead gooblers floating around in the strawberry liquid. The other gooblers were dancing around all over the place with them falling off the roof one by one. Next to the Ice cream was the pile of pictures Lifemate Terri gave him. His eyes were dry and sore from all the sobbing he did throughout the day and his voice was raw and scratchy.
He spent the rest of the day locked in his bedroom in a deep depression. Using the time to cry it out and take a long, loooong look at his life. It was just gone! One minute he was getting ready to take his girlfriend (well, Ex now and this time there was no party or rebound human to latch on to) to Spain for a romantic getaway then the next minute he ended up sleeping with Korvo that caused Terri to break-up with him. What a rotten way to end the week in his opinion. One thing he was grateful for was that the rest of the Team left him alone. Jesse informed him that Korvo left, not sure where, he just left without saying a word. Probably went out to buy a new T.V. since he destroyed the other one. Apparently, not only did he blow up the T.V. he also blew up the Blu-Ray and snapped the Titanic DVD in half. Now there was a new rule: No Ship Movies in the house.
The night was cool and quiet with only the crickets chirping lazily in the background, a new environment to get fresh air and cure his horrible headache. He pulled his knees up to his chest and brought out Terri's necklace to stare at it for the millionth times. Human Terri loved the necklace so much and it wasn't because of how much money it was worth in Earth Standard, but for how special it made her feel. She didn't even bother to ask for it back…
As he rubbed the smooth surface of the pink teardrop stone, he heard a window open followed by footsteps coming towards him. At first he thought it was Jesse coming up here to see if he was doing Ok, but instead, it was Korvo looking as depressed and shitty as he did. He was still bruised up from their fight the other night. At first, he thought he was here to fight or give him a "I told you so." speech, but instead he took a seat next to him and stared down at his twiddling thumbs. His way to call it a truce between them since it seems like both of them lost a lot today.
He looked at the necklace again before crossing his arms on his knees so he could rest his head on them. "Korvo…"
Korvo slightly jerked from hearing his name so suddenly. "Yes…"
"You know how to wipe our phones right?"
"Oh…um…yeah, are you getting a lot of Telemarketers again?" He asked, nervously while shuffling around to get a better seating position.
He sighed, "No…" He pulled out his phone that had his Facebook app open. "I need you to delete everything I have of Terri. Her number, our pictures, all her social media pages…everything…" He said bitterly while tossing his phone next to Korvo's boots.
He thought Korvo would get a good Beat-off from his request, but instead he picked up the phone to look at the pictures. "If that's what you want, I'll do it."
As Korvo swiped through the pictures, he could see all the selfies he and Terri took together and even a few they took with the Reps. They all looked so happy. He looked so happy. He started to tear up again, getting Korvo's attention, "Can you do me one more thing?"
"What?"
He inhaled and exhaled slowly. "Can you erase my mind as well?"
Korvo dropped the phone, "You want me to do what?"
"I'm sure it's not hard, I mean you have a Dumb ray, I'm sure you have a Mind Eraser Ray somewhere in that fucking ship!" He shouted.
"Well, yeah, I actually do in order to forget horrible trauma or the ending of certain T.V. shows you spoiled for me, but-"
"Alright, then can you please go get it and blast me with it before I turn the ship upside to find it myself."
"Look I get it, she dumped you and half of it is my fault, but this seems a little extreme even for you…"
"You tried to kill her and you're saying I'M being extreme! Can you be any more self-absorbed?"
"You ran like a Bitch when I tried to zap you with the "Smart Ray," but willing to erase your mind? All those memories?"
"What choice do I have, Korvo? I want to forget. I want to forget about Terri and human Terri and everything I did with them and for them. I want them gone from my phone, my mind and even in these stupid pictures." He shouted while grabbing the pictures in anger before tossing them into the air. Watching them fall to the ground in disdain. "I want to forget because I'm so tired of the hurt they've caused me! I'm just tired of the pain, it hurts so much, I just want to jump off this roof and end it all!"
"Terry, there are other humans out there, you can just go down the street and pick one from one of those random houses."
"And have them leave me as well. It never fails, everyone that I care about ends up leaving me in the end. Terri, then you then Terri…I can't do it anymore. Maybe I wasn't meant to have someone in my life." He cried, nearly losing his voice in the process.
Korvo looked away in shame while scratching the back of his head. "Terry…I don't know why you blame Terri-with-an-I for leaving you. She was assigned to a Team, she was their Pupa Expert, she knew what was at stake and what was going to happen to her Team if she abandoned them. She couldn't take that risk, probably why she didn't want you to take it as well. As for the Human,...you were right…I was jealous…I really thought she was just something you were going to fuck once and ditch, but when I saw you and her getting close over the months…well…the thought of losing you again…"
He gritted his teeth, "You knew none of this would have happened if you were just honest with yourself and me. If you weren't so sure about "Us" you should've said something, not just shut me out completely yet you have the nerve to get upset when I started seeing someone else."
"Again, not my finest moment, how I was I supposed to know it was going to make you go off on the deep end and date some Look-alike of your old Lifemate. Sue me!" Korvo shouted back while waving his hands in the air.
"It doesn't matter anymore and I don't want to fight with you either, so are you going to erase my mind or not!?" He shouted back
"No, because that means erasing everything including the Replicants and Me, Dumbass!"
"You fucking suck!"
"I know I do, but get over it. Give it a few days Terry before you make any drastic decisions."
"Fine!"
"FINE!"
He turned his back on Korvo, peeving. You would think Korvo would love helping him to forget Terri after blabbing all over the place about how much he hates her, but no, he had to make things difficult. He heard Korvo groan, clearly frustrated with how this conversation was going before sighing in defeat. "So what now?" Korvo asked quietly.
"What do you mean?" He replied while looking down at the necklace again. Pondering if he should just flush the gem down the toilet or not.
"Where does this leave "Us?"
At the corner of his eye he could see Korvo's hand gliding across the roof's shingles over to him. He gently placed his hand down next to his. "I don't know." He really didn't. He just got out of a relationship that too long ago. He wasn't in the mood for another. "I feel like I need time to myself to figure things out." He said, already preparing himself for an outburst from his Team Leader.
Korvo gently placed his hand down on top of his and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Take all the time you need…"

One Year Later…
"Of all the Starbucks in this fucking city, you had to pick this one?" Korvo huffed before crossing his arms.
"You said I can go to a Starbucks now so I wanted to go to this one. They make their drinks perfectly plus it's the closest one to the Model Train Store" He said as he pulled Korvo across the parking lot by his hand. Once they were next to the door, Korvo pulled his hand away and huffed out a puff of black smoke.
He tried not to laugh. It's been a week since Korvo turned himself (and pretty much the entire city) into a train set and was still getting over the awful side effects. He got his body back, but it left him awfully sore and he had to learn to walk again without falling over. That part Korvo could handle, but it was the internal effects that were really pissing him off. He couldn't stop coughing up smoke and everything tasted like charcoal to him. Still, he tried to keep his "Husband" optimistic. It was only temporary and each day was getting better and better so what's the point of complaining about it.
Korvo spits, staining the sidewalk with black oil and huff, "Bullshit, we passed by three other coffee places and they all make their drinks exactly the same. We both know why you wanted to come here."
He sighed, "Korvo, it's been a year…for god sake, we haven't spoken since that day she ended it."
"Exactly, there's no point wasting your time and energy on someone who clearly wants nothing to do with you." Korvo said before leaning backwards to pop his back. There was a weird snap and he hissed, "Fuck, I swear I feel like my insides are still out of place. Can we please go?" He asked while rubbing his lower back.
"As much as I love your jealousy, Babe. I really need to do this and besides you owe me after all that Train Fiasco last week." He said, calmly.
"I am! By doing one of your hobbies you refuse to tell me about tomorrow. That was our deal."
"No, that was your idea so it doesn't count. You letting me come here without causing a scene is your way of apologizing for trying to kill us when you were a Train." He said, with a firm look.
Korvo blushed and looked away. "You had to bring that up, didn't you? I told you I wasn't in the right state of mind."
"I know, I know. You just overreacted again and I get it. All of this is still new." He said, referring to Korvo's life change. Forgetting about the ship and settling down "Roots" as Jesse would call it and of course, trying out a romantic relationship with him. It's a slow process, there were still some issues to figure out on both sides, but they were getting there together and he couldn't be happier. "But in order to avoid another overreaction, you need to trust me."
Korvo slightly deflated, "Why is this so important to you?"
If he had to be honest with himself, departing from Lifemate Terri was hard and left him with a lot of regrets and pain. He didn't want to mess up the "Do-Over" with Human Terri either. "It's hard to say, Korvy. It's not like I'm trying to start up something or still have feelings for her…I just want to make sure she's Ok." He said, with a reassuring smile though it didn't look like Korvo was convinced. "Let me do this and I'll never bother you about her ever again."
"And then we can go to the Train Model store to return all that crap I bought."
"Ugh, yes, which I don't get why? Wouldn't it be more fun to burn it and make S'mores, it's not like money is important to us."
"No, I'm planning on sticking it to the Store Owner, just think of all the profit he's going to lose to me since it's still under the thirty-day refund terms" Korvo said with an evil grin.
He quickly opened the door to the Starbucks and let himself in. "Yeah, yeah, you fantasize about that, Korvo while I go get your coffee." He said, shutting the door behind him.
He stood there and scanned the small surroundings. There were a few humans sitting at the tiny round tables reading books and drinking coffee to pay attention to him and no one waiting in line by the counter. Behind the counter, he froze when he saw Human Terri with her back turn, refilling the coffee machines with water while humming a loud tune to herself. He took a deep breath before making his way to the counter, rehearsing the speech he was going to say to her over and over again in his mind while his head bubbled with premature gooblers. It was then his throat closed up and he forgot what he wanted to say. She bent down to open a bottom cabinet door to get something when he finally forced something out of his mouth.
"Can I get a black coffee, please, with sugar…"
She froze the second she heard his voice before slowly standing up with a bag of coffee cups. She turned around to face him and he felt like he was lost in a trance again. She hasn't changed a bit, it was like looking at Lifemate Terri all over again, but at the same time, he could actually see Human Terri as well. He slowly tapped his fingers on the cold counter before continuing…
"...and make sure it's hot enough to burn…" He nervously chuckled.
She blinked, showing off that shade of pink eyeshadow that matched the highlights in her hair and the gloss on her lips. "Terry?" She questioned in disbelief.
He gave her a small pathetic smile before clearing his throat. "H-h-hey…um…how's everything going? It's been a while…"
She stared at him before looking away with a small frown. "It's been a year, Terry. This is a sudden surprise."
"I know, I just wanted to see you, that's all."
She placed the cups down on the counter, "Why? I thought we had an understanding?"
"We did, but…it's weird not having you around anymore, God knows it took forever for Jesse to talk to me again after we broke up. She grew quite fond of you just like I did and I know you've moved on, but I just wanted to make sure you were doing Ok?"
She raised an eyebrow, "You just want to know if I'm doing Ok?" Which he nodded, but that confused her even more, "Why?"
She had the same look as Korvo when she asked the question and he twiddled his thumbs. "Terri, when I parted ways with my Lifemate, it left me with a lot of regrets…I don't want that to happen again with you. I…I can't have two Terris hating me in my life…so, just tell me you're doing alright and I'll leave you alone forever." He said, ending the last sentence quite loudly for his taste. No doubt the other humans around them were staring at him. When he looked at her, he was surprised to see her so calm.
"Terry, I don't hate you…" She said, quietly.
"You don't?"
She shook her head. "Sure, I was mad when we broke up, but we were literally from two different worlds and you were in love with someone else. I can't really dwell on a relationship that only lasted a few months knowing it wasn't going to go anywhere in the first place."
"I guess…that makes sense." He said, slightly disappointed. So she had her doubts like he did.
She smiled. "I take it you and Korvo are…?"
He hummed happily to himself. "We're still figuring things out, but you could say we are. He's happy. I'm happy."
"I'm glad to hear that." She said, placing her hand on top of his.
"You know, we can still keep in contact, maybe even hang out once in a while if you like." He suggested. It wouldn't be the first time he kept in contact with all his Exs over his stay here on Earth. He was meeting one tomorrow to wait in line with him and his family. He wanted Korvo to know his hobbies and some of his friends.
She bit her lip. "I'm not sure about that. I don't want to cause trouble again."
Disappointed, but he understood, he was sure Korvo wouldn't like it either, still…"Ok, but could you at least give me a call or a text every once in a while? I know we parted ways, but I'll feel better knowing you're doing alright?" He asked, knowing that was something he wished he could've done with Lifemate Terri. Till this day, he wasn't sure if she was alive or dead since there haven't been anymore "Distress Signals." At least with Human Terri it was possible.
She gave his hand a soft squeeze. "Terry, I'm doing fine. I'm still working and living paycheck to paycheck, but I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me."
"But I do, you're my Boo Boo Girl afterall."
She couldn't help, but giggle. "Right, right, your Boo Boo Girl"
"And always will be." He said, smiling at her.
"Terry, I got customers and from where I'm standing, I can see Korvo is getting impatient." She said, pointing at the door behind him.
He looked back to see a line forming behind him and Korvo watching him from outside. He turned back around to her and kissed her hand. "Farwell Terri." He whispered, putting something in her hand and taking off before she could respond. When he exited the Starbucks, he looked through the window to see Terri staring at the necklace with the Pink Teardrop Gem. Her stunned look slowly turned into a soft smile as she hugged the gem close to her chest. He can finally close that chapter of his life for good and start the new one with Korvo now.
"Now can we go?" Korvo asked, looking more relaxed now. He wasn't even bothered by the fact he didn't get their drinks.
"Yeah, let's go and return those train sets." He said, grabbing Korvo's hand. Entwining their fingers together as they made their way to their car.
"Feeling better now?" Korvo asked, trying to be supportive. So un-Korvo-like, but loves the effort, no less. He kissed his Husband's cheek.
"Much Better."
The End
