Chapter 5
Trapped in Bat Form
"Dont be silly Ralphie! Vampires are a mythical creatures plus they do not exist!" Keesha explains to me. I look at her, i understood what she is saying but deep in my mind i say anything can exist or be possible "Come on Keesh! After being exposed to magic from the power of the Magic School Bus anything could be possible right?" i ask in question. "But the Magic School Bus is nowhere to be seen Ralphie? Unless its somewhere near, possibly in disguise?" Jyoti asks as she gets herself up from the ground looking up as if she was looking for the yellow bus, "Jyoti! You could be right!" i tell her "It could be disguised as a bat like last time!". Just then i began to experience what felt like a small head spin "Ralphie? Are you alright?" Keesha asks in concern, "Yeah" i answer "Just felt a little dizzy for a second but i'll be fine!". The sunlight that was left had begun to disappear, i looked out of the window and the evening sky was becoming a dark shade of purpley blue "We can explore and look for the bus, if the Magic School Bus is here, we might find Valerie or Fiona Frizzle and they might be able to tell us what is going on!" i excitably say to the girls, Keesha and Jyoti looked at each other in concern, however they eventually agreed to explore even with the weird things that were happening to us. What's the worst can happen?
We grabbed some torches and began to walk towards the staircase. Keesha held her camera while Jyoti just held a torch. I had my notebook and had already begun writing some ideas for my comic due to the events of what just happened in the last 15 minutes "Come along Ralphie!" Jyoti shouts to me just before we all begin slowly walking up the old dark creaky staircase. As we were observing our dark and spooky surroundings, everything was slient apart from the sound of bats squeaking and nearby owls beginning to hoot. I was in such a daze that i hadn't noticed that Keesha's and Jyoti's torch lights had disappeared and the only torch light that was on was mine "Keesha? Jyoti?" i shout in a nervous voice. As no one answered back, i began to get nervous. Suddenly there was a roaring noise coming from in front of me "Keesha? Jyoti? Come on this is not funny!" i called asking them to stop whatever it was that they were planning. Then i heard 2 vampiric sounding voices "BOOOO! We want to suck your blood!" i see Jyoti's and Keesha's faces in the light of their torches that they were holding underneath their chins, i jumped!. "Yikes! Your fangs are huge and spooky guys! You both really do look like vampires!" I tell them, "We so totally scared you Ralphie!" says Keesha while laughing "Sorry! It was just so tempting!" Jyoti says in apology but also giggling at the same time. Again Keesha tries to tell me that vampire's do not exist and says that if we were vampire's we would be beginning to crave blood "and be able to turn into a BAT at will!" i say as i interupted her while holding out my arms "Ralphie!" i hear Jyoti shout. Thats when something extraordinary happened, i began to feel weird again and got that head spin again. I started to see what looked like mist or smoke and I felt as if my whole body was being scrunched up, pulled to piller to post until i felt myself falling to the stoney ground on my backside.
"Ouch! That hurt!" i screamed as i looked up towards Keesha and Jyoti who i had trouble seeing. I could only see the bright lights from their torches. "Ralphie are you ok?" i hear Keesha asking, Jyoti shortly tells Keesha that i might have fainted, i then quickly tell them that i was ok but they needed to come closer to me as i was having difficulty seeing them. I also tell them to turn off their torches as they were very bright. "Turn of our torches, why Ralphie how are we went to see you if we turn off our torches?" Keesha asks, "Please just do it, they are very bright ok!" i snapped to her. I didn't mean to snap. So both girls turn of their torches one by only torch that was still on was the one i had dropped on the floor. The room went dark but it wasn't long until the light of the full moon began to pier through the windows. Suddenly the moonlight began to fill a little unsettling. I could now see Jyoti and Keesha more clearly in the moonlght however something about them had changed and it wasn't just the weird faces they were pulling "Ah when did you guys get taller?" i nervously ask.
"Um...Ralphie, Ahh..." Jyoti says nervously, "What?" i answer back, now beginning to feel even more nervous like how Arnold use to when we would go on Field Trips, "Oh bad, oh bad oh bad bad bad! Ralphie you have turned into a BAT!" Keesha straightly tells me. "Really?" i ask as i begin to check out myself. No wonder everything seemed bigger. Yes i had fur, yes i had wings along with the vampire like teeth i had before. I then looked back up to the girls and noticed that Keesha was now missing and next to Jyoti there was what looked like the same mist i saw before during what might have been my transformation. "Keesha?" i yelled, Jyoti jumps since Keesha has disappeared and now there was a cloud of smoke beside her. I then hear an "Ouch" just like how i said earlier and the mist cleared away. "Keesha, you have become a BAT too!" Jyoti screams with her hands on her cheeks as she and i saw Keesha who was now spotting a bat form with identical features as i had. "Keesha are you alright?" i ask her "What on earth was that! Have i shrunk?" she answers back, "No Keesha, you've become a bat too!" i quickly tell her. It wasn't long until i looked towards where Jyoti was orginally standing as she had suddenly gone quiet "Jyoti?" i shout "JYOTI!". Keesha and i began to notice that again a puff of the same mist was now right where Jyoti has standing slowly swirling around "Jyoti!" Keesha screamed as the mist began to disappear as quickly as it appeared. We could now no longer see Jyoti however as we looked down towards the ground we saw a small furry winged bat now lying in Jyoti's place.
I get up and try and walk towards her but i was feeling very weak, unsure if it was to do with the transformation "Jyoti? Are you alright?" I ask her softly. Keesha who was still a meter beside her come in closer too. Then thankfully we both notice that Jyoti (now in bat form) begins to move and sits up "Did i say something, am i now a bat too?" she asks in question. Keesha and i look at each other and broke the news to her that she too was now no longer human. "What's causing us to transform? Is this magic?" I asked as i continue to check out our new bat features. "Well you did mention the word BAT Ralphie!" Keesha tells me, "Even so even if the word "BAT" did cause us to transform into bats, how do you explain the vampire like teeth at the beginning?" Jyoti questions, "This totally has to be magic, I think we have become Vampires!" I immediatley shout in excitement but also in a slight freaked out way. "Ralphie!" Keesha shouts angerly "I know, i know!" I tell her, "Well if we are Vampires lets see if we can turn about into our human forms?" Jyoti points out. Keesha and i agreed with her that would be a good idea to determine what exactly we have become "Ok everyone, concentrate!" we hear Keesha say as we all held our bat wings together and closed our eyes. After trying and trying we found that there was one problem we are unable to tranform back into humans! "Are we stuck in bat form?" Jyoti asks nervously, "Look at it is this way Jyoti, at least we may have an answer, we have just become normal bats who feed off moths and do NOT drink blood! We are not Vampires" Keesha tells her proudly trying to prove a point esspecially to me. I then look at her rolling my eyes "Ok whatever! Let's not fight! However i think Jyoti is right we are trapped as bats with no way of turning back!" i screamed feeling very scared now and worried. I still had this crazy feeling in my stomach that we were not out of the woods yet. Many questions were flowing between the 3 of us, What's going to happen to us next? What's causing all this? Are we going to remain bats forever?. Seems convenient that this is all happening on the night of Halloween don't you think?
