Chapter 491 Jungle Mission

The Omini Transport flew for several miles, before Peridot landed it on the ground below and drove the big vehicle down a long road towards the direction of the Jungle Kingdom. On the way there, they passed several sights of battle, which consisted of the skeletal remains of various beings who looked like they fought for Gumbald and those who opposed him, along with destroyed robots and various machines. Bubblegum took notice of the giant skeletal remains of what appeared to be a giant turtle monster and a giant monkey monster surrounded by a couple hundred smashed tanks, jets,helicopters and a few dozen Safety Bots. Her eyes then landed on the busted remains of Zim's Frontline BattleMech and the Super S Shuriken Typhoon Atomic Destructo-bot that had been used by the League of Super Evil. It looked like both robots had fought each other and apparently ripping giant holes into each other before collapsing to the ground away from each other. Bubblegum was just amazed at all the destruction that had apparently happened, while she was away as she made mental notes of it all and tried to make plans to prevent it from happening.
The group soon reached the boarder of the Jungle Kingdom. The boarder had the shattered remains of Safety Bots, R.E.D.s, MONQIs as well as the dead skeletal remains of Cheese Ninjas, Dinosaurs, Pistachions, Pluckberrirs, monkeys, and spiders scattered around with signs that read 'Death to Invaders!' and 'Jungle Kingdom will not fall!' warning any would be invaders about entering the Jungle Kingdom.
"Well that's a lovely sight." Said Bubblegum with a bit of nervousness.
"They've managed to keep their kingdom from falling and have managed to successfully repel Gumbald's forces for hundreds of years. That means they're very strong and we're going to need those kind of fighters backing us up." Said Mara.
"So if you ever want to return to your time and home, you better turn on the charm and win these people over." Said X.
"What happens if they say no?" Asked Bubblegum.
"They'll either let us go on our way, or there is a slight chance, they might try to capture you and use you as a bargaining chip with Gumbald." Said Chicle.
"What?!" Cried Bubblegum not liking the sound of that.
"Relax. I was only kidding about the capturing you and using you as a bargaining chip. The people of the Jungle Kingdom hate my father and would never do business with him." Said Chicle.
"Well that's good to know." Said Bubblegum.
Peridot pushed a button on her controls and a few tiny poles with white flags on them rose up around the Omini Transport before it headed into the Jungle Kingdom. The Jungle Kingdom was very silent as the Omini Transport made it's way through. Bubblegum looked out through the window and saw a few more remains of invaders as well as shadowy figures darting among the trees, most likely scouts from the Jungle Kingdom palace keeping a close eye on the newcomers. Roughly a couple hours later, they reached the gates and walls of the Jungle Kingdom palace. The walls were massive and covered in thorns and vines and appeared to have several Jungle Men and Jungle Women guarding them along with what appeared to be some large stone golems. Simon grabbed a microphone and spoke to the guards on the walls.
"I am Simon Petrikov, King of the Ice Kingdom and the leader of Sanctuary. I've come to speak with the leader of your kingdom and ask for their help."
A few minutes the gates opened up and out came several Jungle Men and Jungle Women armed with spears, swords, bows and arrows, blowpipes, and guns. Then came a dozen golem carrying large clubs and what appeared to be a few cannons. They surrounded the Omini Transport and beckoned for Simon and the others to get out. The guards parted as a single green skinned Jungle Woman walked forward. She wore combat boots, green and brown shorts, a green and brown chest covering and vest with multiple knives sheathed in it. Her hair green and puffy with a skull in it that wore both a military cap and a crown.
"I am Jungle Warfare Princess, ruler and military leader of the Jungle Kingdom. It has been a very long time since, we had any visitors that weren't invaders. Come with me and we shall eat and discuss business."
Jungle Warfare Princess lead the way through the gates, followed by her guests and the guards. The ruler lead them to a long table and indicated Simon and the guests to take a seat in some wooden chairs. Fruit and meats were brought out to the guests along with some cups of water. Some quick introductions
"Now tell me what brings you to my kingdom strangers." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
Simon exchanged looks with Bubblegum and nodded to her. Bubblegum took a deep breath and spoke.
"Great ruler of the Jungle Kingdom, I am Queen Bubblegum, former queen of the once great Candy Kingdom and the niece of Gumbald. Long ago, I had a falling out with Gumbald and we became enemies. Gumbald got revenge on me by using his creation the Timenado to send me hundreds of years into the future and while I was gone he saw to the destruction of my kingdom and took all my weapons and creations to aid him in his conquest of Ooo. I wish to use the Timenado to return to the past to prevent all that from happening, but to do that I need an army to battle the forces of Gumbaldia to even have a chance to get to the Timenado. You and your forces are strong and we need your help to pull this off. The forces of the Cloud Kingdom and the Lumpy Space Kingdom have agreed to help. If there is anything I can do to convince you to help, I will gladly do it." Said Bubblegum as she bowed to Jungle Warfare Princess.
Jungle Warfare Princess studied Bubblegum and thought about what she said for a few moments.
"I have heard the tales of you and the Candy Kingdom from stories from our elders and from our kingdom's records. Many of the machines that plague our kingdom and Ooo, were indeed your creations." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"They are. I promise you that, when I return to my home and time, I'll make sure my creations don't fall into the wrong hands or become a threat to your kingdom and the rest of Ooo. You have my word." Said Bubblegum.
"You speak truthfully, but I want to give you a test to see if you're capable of backing up what you promise as well as see how you handle tough situations." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"What is the test?" Asked Bubblegum.
"In the past few months, my people have been plagued by a dangerous and formidable enemy. A tree daemon." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"Tree demon?" Asked Bubblegum.
"It's not an actual demon, but it is a tree. A robotic tree to be exact. It goes by the name S.M.T.H.R.S." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"Is it one of your creations?" Asked Mara.
"The Security-Maintaining-Treehouse-Response-System or S.M.T.H.R.S for short. It was a treehouse I had built for Neddy and Eria to play in as kids as well keep them safe. I had it filled with gadgets as well as some defenses to protect the children as well as give it the capability to move." Said Bubblegum looking a bit mortified at the thought of another of her creations going about causing trouble.
"Another horrible idea and creation by Bubblegum." Muttered X.
"Since S.M.T.H.R.S is your creation that means you know what it is capable and how to hunt it. Your task is to find S.M.T.H.R.S and destroy it. Do this and you will have the support of me and my kingdom, plus I'll let you have a session with one of our top seers to see your future and warn you about what challenges you will have to deal with on the rest of your journey." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"Alright, I'll do it. You can count of me to rid your kingdom of S.M.T.H.R.S. My team and I can handle it." Said Bubblegum.
"Just a moment, I will only allow you to have two of your companions to assist you with this task and I will choose them." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"Wait, why?" Said Bubblegum.
"Because I want to see if you, yourself are a capable person. In war we do not always have the luxury of numbers, or who we choose to have fight along our side. If you are determined enough this shouldn't pose too much of a challenge to you." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"Alright, who are you going to choose?" Asked Bubblegum.
"Marceline and X. If you are hunting a tree, you will need a ax fighter and someone who has fire powers." Said Jungle Warfare Princess.
"Alright...I can work with that." Said Bubblegum.
"My people will give you a map and the location of S.M.T.H.R.S's last sighting. You will be allowed to take any tools or weapons that you need and take all the time you need to prepare for the hunt." Said Jungle Warfare Princess before she got up and left the table.
"Looks like you have your work cutout." Said Chicle.
"I know that neither Marceline or X are exactly my biggest fans, but they been civil with me so far on this quest. They both have some powers that'll be very useful in hunting and dealing with S.M.T.H.R.S. Marceline can see in the dark, has enhanced hearing, and her strength and ax will come in handy. X can use his flames to light the dark as well as destroy S.M.T.H.R.S with ease. I just have to stay on their good sides and use my brain to track down S.M.T.H.R.S as quickly as possible." Said Bubblegum as she checked a device on her wrist and began to tinker with it.
"It's not just Marceline, X, or S.M.T.H.R.S that has me concerned. It's what else might be lurking out in the jungle. Gumbald has many minions hunting for you and they're all dangerous. Some might not peruse us into the Jungle Kingdom, but others will." Said Neddy.
"I'll be careful and get this job done fast." Assured Bubblegum.
"I will be." Said Bubblegum.
"Just be careful mom." Said Neddy.
The two gave each other a quick hug.
"Now please keep a good eye on Bubblegum and make sure X doesn't try to pull some kind of stunt to try and hurt her." Said Simon to Marceline.
"Don't you worry I got this. X won't physical try to hurt Bubblegum, but I feel he might try to get personal with her another way." Said Marceline.
"It's bound to happen unfortunately, especially in a situation like this." Said Simon.
"Better to get it out now then have X bottle up his emotions and have them explode on us later." Said Marceline.
"I guess you're right. Good luck out there and be careful." Said Simon.
"I will. Hopefully we won't run into too much trouble and be back soon." Said Marceline.
"Now I know you hate Bubblegum. I hate her too, but we did agree to help her, so play nice out there." Said Mara.
"Yeah. Yeah. I know, but I do have a few personal questions to ask her as well call her out on some stuff." Said X.
"I get that. Just be sure to not get too into it and focus on the mission." Said Mara.
"I know. Shouldn't take too long to destroy a stupid tree." Said X.
The three hunters were given a map and they headed out to the last known location of S.M.T.H.R.S.
On the edge of the Jungle Kingdom boarder three separate groups were arriving to hunt for Bubblegum.
The first was the combined group from the Breakfast Kingdom, Farmer Village, and Lizard Kingdom, which consisted of the six Eggspendables, Chickenstein, Hooded Heifer, and the three lizards Kask, Khamai, and Sauro.
The Eggspendibles were made of six large eggs with arms and legs dressed in black military gear and armed with guns. They were lead by Head Egg. The rest of the team was known as E2, Egghead, E4, Rick, and Craig.
Chickenstein was a 7-foot-tall humanoid chicken creature with white feathers, red eyes, sharp teeth, and an open black vest. He had black hair on a flat head and stitches on his body.
Hooded Heifer was a large cow man. He had sharp teeth, two big horns, black hooves, a blue mask and spandex outfit.
Kask was a tall green lizard wearing sword straps and a short loincloth. He carriers two large swords.
Khamai was a short green lizard wearing straps a loincloth and was armed with a powerful laser gun.
Sauro was a large muscular lizard wearing a picked helmet and loincloth armed with a large sword.
The team of hunters looked at the boarder and then they marched into the jungle.
A few miles West, Toronto arrived at the boarder. Toronto looked the same as he did in the past, but now he wore the Amulet of Anubis around his neck and he was accompanied by a trio of demons known as the Minions of Set.
The Minions of Set were three dog-like demons with black skin, golden heads, and glowing blue eyes. They wore armbands and shendyt. The demons each had a different weapon. One had a curved sickle-like sword called a khopesh, one had an Egyptian battle-ax, and the third had two short swords, one in its right hand and one attached to a bracer on it's left. The weapons glowed with magical blue flames.
The Minions of Set were great frackers and powerful warriors that Toronto had gone through a lot of trouble to obtain, but they would be worth once they found Bubblegum and killed her. Thanks to the Amulet of Anubis, Toronto had power and was able to control the Minions of Set.
The four canines headed into the jungle.
A few miles East, the Chung Pow Kitties had arrived. Ashley the oldest of the three cat sisters had her pink dress on and her swords drawn ready to fight, Kitty the middle sister was dressed in purple and had her short swords ready, and Bella the youngest sister was dressed in green and had her nunchucks out ready to fight as well. The Chung Pow Kitties looked the same as they did in the past, but now they each wore a headband with a large heart shaped gemstone on it. Ashley had a pink one, Kitty had a blue one, and Bella had a green one. The gems in the headbands were very powerful magical items called Heart Stones and the Chung Pow Kittens were ready to unleash that power to destroy Bubblegum and anyone who got in their way.
The three sisters headed into the jungle to begin hunting.
