"Mikey! Get your butt down here down here now!"
The young teen jumped up startled from the sudden burst of noise, his head turned with all the things his brothers could possibly be mad at about him. Which was sadly becoming very common.
His brothers hadn't gotten off his back from their last training session, his weakness in his bones and malnourished stomach started to become very obvious in their terms. And if Mikey happened to tell them that he was ok, it would be a straight out lie.
The past few weeks had become a session of pure misery, his head always hurt with aches while his bones started to become more brittle and weaker. When his brothers were not watching him, he would constantly lie in bed withering in pain.
It was so bad that it even started to scare Mikey, the fear of what could become of him was almost enough to send him to the kitchen for a delicious slice of cake. But the word fat came tumbling into his brain leaving him almost destroyed inside and out.
But one question remained, how long could he keep this up?
"MIKEY!"
Mikey groaned as he lifted himself up from bed, almost immediately pain struck his system with extreme force. He tried to not cringe.
"Coming!" he yelled opening his bedroom door. Every step felt like agony, needles went up his arms. His vision blurred in and out. If anything, he didn't know if he could make it down the stairs. But he couldn't have his brothers on his back.
Walking very slowly, Mikey walked to the entrance of the stairs, his older brother Donnie at the head of the steep stairs.
"It's dinner time," Donnie went on before his brother could disappear again, "AND if you DON'T come to dinner, Leo said that you would be grounded for two weeks."
"Two WEEKS!" Mikey gaped. There was no way that he would even survive two weeks, his brothers worry practically radiated from the walls. "Donnie please…I'm not hungry!"
His older brother only shook his head, "Your never hungry anymore, you need to eat…"
I can hide the food under the table
"..in front of us," Donnie finished
WHAT! Grounding it is then
"I'll take my chances,"
Donnie's face transformed so fast; it almost made the small teen laugh. "You will eat Michelangelo now."
But Mikey only shook his head, full name or not, nothing was going to make him go eat. And in all reality, his brothers probably already knew that.
"For your information Donatello, I already ate," Mikey pursued, his lips stretched up in a tight knot, "I had a large lunch today."
Donnie scoffed, "You mean this lunch?" He held up the filled lunchbox, "For your information Michelangelo, you left this at home."
The young teen huffed, how he managed to forget to take his lunch box was no mystery. His memory skills had slowly been decreasing day by day, maybe that's why his brothers probably almost have his whole situation figured out.
He was lucky if he remembered to put his shoes on before he went to school.
"I bought school lunch."
"Mikey, we've never given you money for school lunch."
Mikey was about to give in when he remembered the word fat. There was no way he could afford to eat a meal so full of calories and fat. Not to mention that his brothers would also make him eat dessert, chocolate cake was too rich in sugar for him to even attempt that thought.
"Mikey…." Donnie chose his words carefully, "I'm worried, we're all worried. Please let us help you, I don't know what caused you to stop eating but it's getting unhealthy."
"Thanks for reminding me," Mikey muttered as he started to slowly walk away. There was nothing his older brother could say that would persuade him to eat.
"Mikey if you don't eat, I will physically come up there and force you to eat!" Donnie threatened.
This stopped the young teen in his tracks, if Donnie made a threat, he would stick to it. His older brother always had a way with threatening tones.
Mikey sighed, "Fine, but only a few pieces of dinner."
Donnie nodded, at least it was a start. If anything, taking one step at a time seemed like the best approach.
His younger brother begun to walk over to the stairs and trudge down them when he felt a searing pain in his head, his heartbeat rapidly as stars danced in his eyes.
"Donnie…I don'-"
Mikey never got to finish that sentence as he fell forward, his head set to hit the corner of a sharp stair. Donnie leaped into action; his hand caught Mikeys head just in time.
"MIKEY!" He yelled as tears fell down his cheeks. His younger brother looked horrible, bags under his eyes, his breathing off.
He needed medical attention immediately. But his shock came in full, his mind fuzzy. He only faintly heard footsteps enter the stairway, but he couldn't quite recognize them.
"Donnie…. what happened?" a voice asked full of fear and worry.
But Donnie only stared.
Stared at his younger brothers half-dead body.
