Arthur Runs Away (What Really Happened after Arthur's Big Hit)
This story begins right after Arthur walks outside and sees his model plane destroyed. His rage knows no bounds. Everything that happens goes word for word, like in the episode, UNTIL...he is in the living room and snaps back after receiving his punishment with so much anger. How does he do it? WATCH.
D.W.: If it could break the sound barrier, falling out of a window shouldn't be able to break it!
Arthur: I told you not to touch it!
D.W.: You built it all wrong! Did you even read the directions? It didn't fly for one second! It's not my fault if you made a plane that can't fly.
Arthur: I told you... NOT TO TOUCH IT!
Arthur raises his fist and hits D.W. on the arm. She falls down and looks blank for a moment. Then she runs away and starts to cry.
D.W.: (crying)
Arthur tries to get his plane, but Mrs. Read has heard what happened, and D.W.'s cries are very loud.
Mrs. Read: Arthur Timothy Read, come here!
Arthur: Uh-oh. Middle name.
So far, everything is like the real episode. BUT...things are about to change. D.W. is now in the kitchen receiving help from Mr. Read.
D.W.: Are they gonna have to "amputake" my arm?
Mr. Read: No, honey, it's "amputate," not "amputake."
D.W.: They're gonna amputate?!
Mr. Read: No. I'm in charge, and I'm putting ice on you.
D.W. screams
Mr. Read: What's wrong?
D.W.: That's cold!
Mrs. Read is speaking with a furious Arthur in the main hallway.
Mrs. Read: Apologize to your sister.
Arthur: No way! She should apologize to me! I worked all week on this! I told her a million times not to touch it!
Mr. Read carries D.W. past them.
D.W.: You're bad!
Arthur's rage starts to really grow. NOW...it gets interesting.
Arthur is in the living room. This...changes things.
Mr. Read: Arthur, this means no TV for a week!
Arthur: What?! That is so unfair! You don't even care what she did to me!
Mrs. Read: We'll deal with what she did, but what you did is wrong, too.
BOOM. CHANGE!
Arthur: Yeah, right! You never deal with her. You let her get away with everything! I told her so many times not to touch it, and she didn't listen, and now I get blamed because "she's just a little girl?!"
Mrs. Read: Arthur, you can't speak to us like that. I said we would deal with D.W., and I meant that.
Arthur: You never deal with anything she does. She gets away with everything. First, it was Dad and me at the museum, then her Crazy Bus CD when I was trying to do my homework, and then her bad mood when she didn't get invited to a kid's birthday party, and you let her go to Francince's party instead of punishing her. When do you ever really "deal with her?"
Mrs. Read: Arthur, this makes two weeks. Second, I said I will deal with her, and that's final.
Arthur: Make it ten weeks; I don't care anymore! All you ever do is let her get away with everything!
Arthur gets up from the chair, walks up the steps, and slams his door. Mr. and Mrs. Read sigh and go back to their normal day at school.
At school, Arthur receives the same cold shoulder, all because DW is just a little girl. He has had enough. Binky eventually punches Arthur. Arthur is now back home.
Arthur: And the next thing I knew, I was on the ground. It hurt, and it was embarrassing, and...
D.W. and her mother come in.
Mr. Read: Well, maybe that's how D.W. felt when you punched her.
Arthur finally loses it
Arthur: ENOUGH ABOUT DW! THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DW AT ALL!
Mr. Read: Arthur, put yourself in DW's shoes for a second and understand...
Arthur: NO! Will you please stop trying to defend what D.W. did?!
Arthur gets up from the counter.
Arthur: If D.W. is so much more important to you than me, why don't you just let me live on the streets somewhere away from the house?
Mr. and Mrs. Read are shocked.
Mrs. Read: Arthur, don't you ever say anything like that!
Arthur: Oh, now you care. D.W. was not punished and look at her smirk.
D.W. quickly hides her smile. She knows she got away with another one. Arthur, having really lost it, walks up the stairs and slams his door once more.
Arthur: She gets away with everything! It's time to do the drastic.
Arthur opens up his closet and finds two suitcases. Pal comes into the room with his bowl, signifying that he wants to come along as well.
Arthur: Tonight, I leave.
