A.N. Hey all! So this is my first time writing fanfiction in over a decade (I know, right?) so please bear with me. I love Meredith/Alex both as a friendship or romance, so had an idea to write a whole bunch of Merlex one-shots. They should be done in a format that means they can be read as continuous or alone, I'll specify in summaries if romance is involved or if it can be read as purely friendship for those who aren't fans of them as a relationship. They'll take place based from episodes, although likely won't be every episode, just ones I felt I could pull inspiration from. Anyway, hope you enjoy!

How could he do that? Now George had syphillis, all because Alex couldn't keep it in his pants. Thank god they had used protection every time, still, she was going to get herself checked out just to be sure.

She genuinely had feelings for Alex, so this really stung. Granted, she didn't know for sure what those feeling were, but he was putting it about enough to catch an STD. He was out doing god knows what with god knows who whenever her back was turned. She was home every night these days curled up with a medical journal.

Alex was a lot of things. Hot, everyone could see that. Cocky, everyone knew the minute he opened his mouth. Sweet and considerate and gentle when the door was closed and no one could observe him. He was irresistible. Clearly, those good things just weren't enough sometimes. Good things never do last, do they?

How was she going to hide her hurt from the others? They couldn't know she felt broken by this, when she'd never wanted them to know about her feelings in the first place. She wished he had just put an end to it after the first time, when she made it clear how removed this had to be from real life. It would have released her from him exploring his freedoms and the repercussions of that.

She knew she had no room to talk. This entire time, she had been leaving Alex's bed and falling straight into Derek's. But that was different, right? It was just one person. Even as she thought that, she dismissed it, she knew it wasn't any better. If anything, it was worse. Alex was going out to find easy lays, she was playing with his feelings by falling into some whirlwind romance right in front of his face. That had to hurt more, but it didn't mean she couldn't be pained by this.

Maybe it was finally time to put a stop to all of this. She knew he would argue, but she also knew that no good could come of this in the long run.

And yet... maybe things would change. Didn't they deserve the thrill they gave each other, after all the shit they had been through before?

She must be out of her damn mind.
