On October 10th, the day of Naruto's birth, the most terrifying of the tailed beasts attacked Konoha. The Kyuubi, a nine-tailed fox, had been safely sealed inside Kushina before, but childbirth had weakened the seal. They planned the birth in a covert location, but a masked Shinobi, who had no trouble breaching the defences, found them. The Fourth Hokage, Minato, had to step in to save his son when he was in danger.
The masked Shinobi took the Kyuubi from Kushina while she was already vulnerable from childbirth and released it on the village. Extracting a tailed beast was always lethal, but even in her dying state, she was able to use her chakra chains to restrain the beast and give Minato enough time to seal it.
He used the Reaper Death Seal in combination with an Eight Trigrams Seal to contain the chakra beast, sealing the yang half of the Kyuubi's chakra into Naruto and the yin half of the chakra into himself, sacrificing his soul to the Shinigami. He transferred the last of their chakra into their son before they both died to help him if the tailed beast ever needed to be restrained.
For a newborn, the terrifying Kyuubi, its splitting, the Shinigami's presence, the passing of the parents, and the sealing of their chakra were simply too much. Anywhere, but there was where he wished to be. He would get what he wanted. The masked Shinobi appeared next to Naruto, intending to capture the youth to gain access to the Kyuubi. He attempted to flee with the baby using his Kamui, but things did not go as he had hoped.
This man had provided Naruto with a way out when he wanted to flee. The advanced nope, get me out of here technique activated and sent him to a completely different dimension, almost to his peril, but the baby had no way of knowing that. As a result, he was not stuck and trapped inside the Kamui dimension. He would have died with the masked ninja anyway, so it was fortuitous that the accidental manipulation of the space-time jutsu sent him elsewhere.
Snow was uncommon in Konoha's temperate climate, and the month of October was not particularly chilly. Still, it would not be a good idea to leave a baby outside all night. The dimension that Naruto travelled to was a much colder place at the time of his arrival.
Babies, especially those who have just left the womb, are not the most resilient creatures. The Kyuubi planned his escape as Naruto became progressively colder and closer to death, but just as he could almost taste his freedom once more, the seal containing him activated.
The Kyuubi was being drained of its chakra at a rapid rate to increase Naruto's body temperature. He could do nothing to stop the process. The rage he felt at his situation was unparalleled.
He was a massive being entirely composed of chakra, and he was being drained of his life force at such a rapid rate that he would run out of chakra in less than a week. The most powerful of the tailed beasts was on his way to the afterlife, trapped and caged within one pitiful human infant.
Never before in his life had he despised the human race with such passion. As a result of the enormous amount of chakra expended, Kushina and Minato were summoned within Naruto's undeveloped mindscape.
They were shocked and deeply alarmed to be called upon so soon. They first assumed the seal must have had a problem, but it was found to be in perfect working order, quickly releasing chakra. They had no way to observe or manipulate the outside world, so they were forced to observe events as they unfolded, clueless, and with no way to stop events from occurring naturally.
Although he was trembling and screaming, no one in the tiny village could hear Naruto. He spent the entire night by himself in the cold, surviving solely due to the Kyuubi's chakra. Eventually, despite the weather conditions, Naruto managed to exhaust himself into an uncomfortable, restless state of unconsciousness.
The following morning, Mr. Cranel, a strong, elderly farmer, began to tend to his crops but stopped when he heard a distant cry. He pursued the sound out of curiosity. The volume increased, and his steps became more hurried. A baby was crying at the edge of his property.
He closed the last stretch of distance to the disturbance in a sprint. He arrived to discover a newborn infant lying by himself on an undisturbed patch of farmland that was reserved for spring planting. He cautiously approached in disbelief, certain that he wasn't seeing things.
The baby remained visible and in obvious discomfort from the cold temperature. He quickly knelt next to the baby and carefully picked up the mystery child in his arms. He took off in the direction of his warm house as quickly as he dared.
"How are you still alive?" He wondered out loud. It had to be a divine miracle from the gods. It was the only plausible explanation for his appearance, but miracles were unheard of in modern times. The last miracle was said to have occurred before the first gods descended from Tenkai to live among the mortal beings of Genkai, and that was more than a millennia ago.
After what felt like an eternity of worry and alarm, he arrived at his front porch. He was grateful that he never bothered with locks, as the sooner he could get inside, the better. He carefully and delicately placed the baby he was carrying on the ground beside him, so he opened the door. Once the door was open, he scooped the infant back up into his arms and entered his house, where he could hopefully address the crisis he was facing.
He walked towards his bedroom to place the baby on a soft surface. He soon reached his destination and placed the child on his bed. To warm him up, he gently set him on his bed and covered him in blankets. He rearranged the blankets to lightly surround the boy and attempted to calm himself once that was accomplished.
When his heart stopped racing so rapidly, he was able to focus on the miracle child's appearance for the first time. He had unique features that he had never seen before. He had more blonde hair than was typical for such a young baby, three whisker marks on each rosy cheek, and a swirling, gently glowing tattoo on his stomach.
"You certainly are an odd one," he said to the infant, who had woken up along the way. He was given a wide-eyed stare in return.
"Hey there, young one. Danny Cranel is my name. Where did you come from?" asked the farmer. As was to be expected, Naruto did not have an answer for the man.
After an hour of careful observation, the baby seemed to somehow recover from the long night he had spent out in the cold by himself. His colour improved, and he no longer had the uncomfortable grimace that had sat upon his face when he was discovered out in the field.
After he had recollected himself and relaxed his mind for a few moments, he decided that there was only one logical thing to do with a newborn baby. He would go to the only currently nursing mother of an infant in his community. Krista was smart; she would know what to do.
After 25 minutes of walking with more care than he had ever taken in his long life, he arrived at Krista's doorstep. Once more, he carefully placed the boy on the ground so that he could knock on the door. 'Please be awake; please answer,' Danny prayed.
His prayers were answered when he heard footsteps approaching, and the door was unlocked and opened towards him. He gave thanks to the gods for her quick appearance.
"It's mighty early, Dan; what could you possibly need at this early hour?" asked Krista.
In response to that, he scooped the baby back into his arms and attempted to explain the situation.
"Can I come in?" asked Danny.
"Yes, of course," responded Krista with shock in her tone. As far as she was aware, Danny had no children, and there were no such things as secrets in their small little community. 'Where on Genkai did this infant come from?' she wondered.
"I found this newborn abandoned this morning at the edge of my property, crying for help after he must have somehow survived the whole night by himself in the cold. He wasn't there when the sun was still out. I was in that area last night. It was empty when I left it."
"How is that possible? Babies don't just fall from the sky," questioned Krista.
"I have no idea. I wish I could give you an answer. There was no evidence of anyone else being in the area. The ground was undisturbed. Not a track. Not a footprint. Just a baby crying out for help, alone on my land."
"Please come in. We can talk better inside," said Krista.
"Thank you so much; you're a lifesaver," said Danny.
"What should we do with him?" questioned Krista after they had settled onto the comfortable sofa in the living room, and the issue at hand had been placed on the empty coffee table in front of them."
"I'm at a loss. That's why I came to you. I've never had kids, and I expected it to stay that way, but life had different plans for me, I suppose. His appearance has to be the will of the gods. There's no logical explanation to explain the situation that I found him in."
"He seems to be a perfectly content, healthy baby despite his odd appearance and the circumstances that you found him in. Only the gods know what is in store for us. This baby was clearly meant to be found by you," said Krista.
"I'm a godly man, and I'm faithful to their laws and commandments. Being responsible for another human life is not a skill I ever expected to need. Please, what do I do, Krista?" he asked desperately.
"Childcare is a natural process, and you are a wise and caring man. You will have no problems learning how to take care of him," assured Krista.
"Will you help me take care of this little miracle? I can't do it by myself," asked Danny desperately.
She snorted at his tone. "Of course I will. What kind of mother would I be to abandon a child in need?" she responded. She reached out her arms toward the baby and took him into her arms.
"Hello, my little miracle. You're quite the surprise, aren't you?" Krista said.
Naruto gurgled in response.
Krista took a few moments to observe the condition of the unexpected infant and was surprised to see that he seemed to be perfectly healthy. He was sleeping peacefully and showed no sign of being left out in the cold.
"You are right about him being a miracle. The gods have placed him here for a reason," said Krista.
"Perhaps this means good times are ahead for our community," said Danny.
"What should we call him?" asked Krista.
"What about Bell, named after my grandfather?" asked Danny. "What do you think about that, little one?" he said to the child, who had nearly fallen asleep again.
They were drawn away from the mystery child when the sound of another baby's cries drew their attention. Krista handed the newly named baby back to Danny before going to tend to her child's needs.
"It's breakfast time for my little one," said Krista after returning with her child.
She sat down and carefully adjusted her dress while preserving her modesty to allow her baby access to her nipple.
"She will have to get used to sharing from now on," commented Danny. "I hope that won't be a problem. I know many mothers struggle to produce enough milk, and it's almost impossible to get magical baby formula at fair prices this far from a big city."
"It's not something that I have to deal with, thankfully. Feeding another baby won't be an issue," said the nursing mother. "This child was placed here by the gods for a reason, and we have to provide for him."
"Absolutely," agreed Danny.
"I always wanted to have a large family, and his unexpected appearance saves me from the discomfort of the birthing bed," mused Krista.
"That's certainly true. Life is a wonderful thing, but it's creation is a difficult, lengthy, and messy process," said Danny.
"That's very true, but it's completely worth it in the end. Pregnancy is uncomfortable, giving birth is painful, and being a mother is hard work, but seeing your child grow, observe reality, and discover the world is more rewarding than anything else in the world."
"I'm sure I'll experience the same thing. I didn't really think children were on the cards for me, but the gods have decided otherwise," said Danny.
The two adults sat in comfortable silence as Krista nursed her baby. A short while later, her daughter was satiated, and they could shift their attention back to the unexpected addition to their lives.
"I only have the one crib, but it's large enough for both of them. We can find something more suitable when they grow out of it," said Krista.
"Your house is a little small for multiple kids running around. My place has lots of space, but it will take a lot of effort to make it kid-friendly. Hopefully, I can manage that by the time it's needed; the Lord knows I like to procrastinate," said Danny.
"I'm not worried. You're a reliable man. I'm sure you'll have everything set up and babyproofed well before it's a pressing need," she said with a smile. "I've always been fond of you, Danny," she continued. "It will be nice to have a reason to spend more time with you. You're still too young to be a hermit, and yet that's how you spend most of your time."
Danny laughed. "You've got me there. I blame my grandfather. He had a large hand in raising me, and he was old enough to qualify as a hermit. Thanks for the kind words. I may not be perfect, but I always try my best to be a good person. It's nice to have someone appreciate my efforts."
The baby boy in Danny's arms woke up sometime during their quiet conversation, and he announced this occurrence a short time later when he started to cry.
Krita left to put her daughter back into the crib and then returned to take the crying infant back from Danny. "I think he's hungry now too," she said.
"Is it okay if I leave him with you for the time being? We might have witnessed the miracle of life in the form of this child, but I still have my regular duties to attend to back at the farm. Life moves too quickly to get behind on my work. I would never be able to catch up, and the last harvest of the year is rapidly approaching," said Danny.
"That's no problem at all," replied Krista. "This little one is a happy addition to my household. I can tell he's going to be a good child. He's already settled back into sleep after his meal."
"I don't think either of us expected anything unusual to happen today when we woke up this morning; boy were we mistaken. You're a lifesaver, Krista. I'll be back in a few hours after my fields are attended to, and we can discuss things in more detail."
After they said their farewells, Danny headed home to attend to his fields, and Krista returned to the bedroom to place the sleeping mystery baby in the crib next to her daughter.
"Sleep well, little miracle," she whispered. She leaned down to plant a kiss on the foreheads of both of the children before leaving them to rest together while she started her daily routine, nearly an hour and a half later than usual.
People like to throw around words like divine or miracle in perfectly ordinary circumstances, but Naruto's surprise appearance qualified as a genuine miracle. It was already a miracle that he survived the Kyuubi attack and was resilient enough to withstand the sealing process that placed the demon inside his newborn body. He also managed to end up in a dimension altogether different from the one he had been born into.
Naruto's unique physiology and genetic makeup were perfectly suited to combat and ninja life. He would have grown up to become a legendary figure in his home world, regardless of any barriers he may have faced. He was destined for greatness from the moment his parents decided to try for a baby.
The new world that he had stumbled into was not prepared for his arrival. Gods roamed the streets freely in this dimension, having grown bored of the peace that Tenkai offered. They bestowed upon common people their blessings in the form of a falna and gave the brave, talented, risk-taking, daring, and often foolish the chance to become strong enough to slay deadly monsters of all shapes and sizes with ease.
The blessing of a god allowed regular, unassuming citizens to transcend humanity, experience a small touch of the divine while they were still alive, and be able to appreciate the effects with much more intensity than the dead do in the afterlife. The dead generally prefer to stay at rest, having experienced the ups and downs of life, and there was no such thing as urgency. They were already dead, after all. There was no need to rush or do anything with great intensity without the added pressure of time and the constant struggle to stay alive and in good health.
The dimension from which Naruto originated had a vastly different definition of what is normal for a person to be capable of. The Sage of the Six Paths blessed the world with the ability to manipulate chakra and combine physical and spiritual forces to enhance their bodies with speed, strength, and agility, and gave them the ability to perform elemental techniques out of thin air and even cast illusions that were as convincing as waking reality.
Most worlds have fixed laws and rules that nature abides by. The source of chakra was the alien goddess Kaguya, not a natural phenomenon. It was not supposed to occur, and so the carefully constructed rules and way of living on that plane were altered beyond belief.
The Sage was so successful in spreading chakra to the common folk that it became a part of every living thing. Most creatures use it to enhance their natural abilities and live longer more successful lives. Humans have always been an exception to the common rules of nature. They prefer to be unique, and they are an arrogant enough species as a collective whole that they rebel against their instincts and mother nature. No other species lives with as much disharmony or unnatural rules that society demands of the average human.
Chakra is essentially the ability to manipulate energy itself to mould to the user's will, and it allows those experienced with the force to perform otherwise impossible feats. With enough time to experiment, practice, train, and learn about the potential that chakra has for manipulating forces and matter, anything was possible.
Predictably, humans initially struggled with using the chakra that had been bestowed upon their dimension. They wanted to run before they could crawl, and initial chakra users wanted to mimic the great Sage, who was not entirely human in origin. Initial failures resulted in chaos and disorder of the natural order, but over time and with sufficient unstructured experimentation, humans developed techniques such as hand signs to manipulate the powerful force to their will.
Modern people in Naruto's home world are capable of casting powerful illusions and binding the elements to their desires in the form of powerful jutsu. Chakra was used to enhance their bodies with unnatural speed, strength, and stamina. It was used to overcome the natural forces that typically dictate reality by defying the laws of physics and allowing even gravity to be overcome with ease.
Naruto carried with him a massive potential for chakra manipulation. It was far greater than the average chakra user, due to his powerful, skilled parents as well as the massive chakra battery of the Kyuubi sealed safely away in his body. With enough persistence and hard work, Naruto could have overcome any challenge that he faced, up to and including Kaguya herself.
Naruto was the sole occupant of the new dimension that he accidentally found himself in that had a chakra network and the potential to perform what the local population considered magical abilities. With proper training, he would be stronger than the rest of the population's fighters and adventurers combined.
The falna bestows a touch of the power of the gods upon the user, enhances the body and mind, and increases neuroplasticity to allow for the natural limits that dictate the lives of unblessed individuals to be overcome with ease. Native combatants and adventurers of this dimension carry a small drop of divine blood and gain experience through training and fighting monsters to overcome these limits. The divine blood enhanced natural talents and increased abilities beyond the norm based on how their gift was used.
With Naruto's extremely active and potent chakra network, natural limits hardly applied to him, even in his dimension of origin. As he would discover later in life when the strong alien force of chakra is combined with a touch of divinity, the results are multiplicative, and the result is the creation of a new god, born of mortal blood and Genkai soil. If Naruto were ever to be blessed with a falna, he would become the God of Creation, and his domain would be mortal life.
That hasn't happened quite yet. Right now, he is still an innocent, helpless baby boy who just so happened to house a chakra beast capable of toppling mountains and reshaping the terrain of its world with ease. His unintentional dimensional travel altered the course of both worlds dramatically. In his home world, he would have become godlike. His natural gifts, strong life force, and chakra network ensured his success in his new world, even without a drop of divine blood.
If Naruto ever chose to accept divine blood, he was destined to ascend past the immortals who bestowed their blessings upon the common mortal. Naruto was on a path to redefine what godhood means. In due time, of course. First, he needs to learn how to communicate in a way that doesn't involve crying or screaming. He'll get there in due time.
