Luz felt the impact of King's scream sending her and her friends through the portal. The green haired witch hit the ground and looked at the door.
"King!" Luz yelled as she ran to the door only for it to close.
She grabbed the handle and opened it, only to see an empty and abandoned cabin. She shut the door and opened it again, only to see the same thing. She tried again, and again, and again, and again!
"No. No. No! NO NO NO!" Luz shouted with each slam of the door, nearly breaking it off its hinges!
She began to breathe heavily and looked down. It was just three weeks ago that she was getting an A with Cat in class, and now she's on the verge of a breakdown. She looked back at her friends standing in the rain. Gus began crying and fell to his knees. Hunter looked shaken as Willow moved closer to comfort him and herself. Amity, she just looked worried for Luz while trying not to breakdown herself.
'Amity…..Guys…what the hell am I doing?' Luz thought, calming down as she slowly walked towards Amity and pulled her into a hug.
She felt tears run down her face. She quickly left the hug and wiped her tears. She made a spell circle and a small green light floated in her hand.
"Come on, Guys... I know a place to go." Luz said.
Not knowing where to go or what to do, the witches followed Luz through the forest as they didn't notice that the "boiling rain, wasn't hurting them in anyway. They arrived at a house, and Luz wasn't sure what was going to happen. The messages sent to her mother when the portal was repaired, so she assumes that her mom knows about her... changes, but she doesn't know how she'll react. Luz slowly reached up and knocked on the door.
'Please don't freak out, mom.' Luz thought, not needing to be more stressed about this situation than she or her friends already are. The door opened and Camila gasped.
"Hi mom." Luz said, "I'm back."
Camila pulled Luz into a hug.
"Oh Mi Bebe! ¡Lo siento, estaba preocupado por ti!" Camila said to her.
"I'm back mom... I'm back." Luz said, letting out a little chuckle, "And... I look a bit different."
Camila let go of Luz and looked at her. The pointed ears, the fangs, the bright green eyes, those were all in the video she saw that Luz sent, but in the video only the tips of her hair were bright green, that clearly moved to the rest of her hair as her head was covered in bright Green hair.
"My my….you really have changed like in your videos." Camila said in surprise before noticing the others. "And are these your friends?"
"Yeah…my BEST friends." Luz said with a tiny grin, "I'll introduce you later... can we come in? I want to see the house I haven't been in, in about a year."
"Of course, come in. I'll get you all some towels to try off and some warm food." Camila said, allowing them all to come in.
"Guess I have a years worth of homework to catch up on, huh?" Luz asked trying to make a joke.
"Actually... that's not really true." Camila said, "Part of the reason I'm taking this so well is... well... Vee can you come in here, please?"
"Coming!" A new voice said.
Everyone watched as someone walked into the room, gasping in shock as this person was LUZ! Or at least a human looking version of Luz before she grew a bile sack.
"Uh... I have several questions." Luz said, "Who is this!?"
"Well... this is the person that I thought was you for the past year, before I got your messages." Camila said.
"And you let her stay?!" Luz asked as her friends took out their staffs, pointing them at "Vee."
"Wait wait wait! Please let me explain!" Vee said, a different voice than mimicking Luz's voice. "I'm really sorry I sort of replaced you but I had a good reason!"
"And what reason is that?" Luz asked, making Amity and Willow lower their staff so she could listen.
"I... I had nowhere else to go." Vee said, "Belos was experimenting on me, I shouldn't actually exist."
"Shouldn't exist?" Gus asked.
Releasing a sigh, Vee began to change from looking like Luz and becoming a sort of snake/fish like creature with patches of fur on her hair and a ring on her tail. This made everyone but Camila gasp as they pointing their staffs at Vee again!
"A BASILISK?!" They all said in shock.
This time Luz pointed her finger at Vee, a small green glow coming from it. Camila got in front of Vee before Luz could even start making the spell circle.
"There will be none of that!" Camila said, "Vee here is not a threat."
"Mom, you don't know what she is! She's-"
"A basilisk, I know. A species that Belos brought back to live and experimented on! Vee explained everything after I showed her your video logs!" Camila said, making everyone look surprised again. "It's why she came here, because it's safe. And for whenever reason this Belos wanted to study her kind, it can't be good, right?"
Luz's eyes got wide at the realization of what Belos used basilisks for.
"It wasn't good." Luz said, "It wasn't good at all."
Luz nearly fell to the ground if it wasn't for Amity.
"Luz!" Amity said, catching her.
"Mija?" Camila asked in surprise.
"Belos used his research from the basilisks, he created a spell that was going to kill everyone with a coven sigils." Luz said, gazing up.
"Oh Titan... oh... Titan." Luz said, understanding so much about the draining spell, before looking at Hunter, "Did you know of this!?"
Hunter put his hands up.
"I... I knew of the Basilisk, but I was in the dark about everything else!" Hunter said.
"Nobody but Belos's most trusted people knew. Like some creep in a plague mask and a small woman with hands for hair." Vee said, rubbing her arm.
"Warden Wrath and Kikimora?" Hunter asked her.
"Yeah them. After a few of us managed to escape, I saw you in the market and slipped past you into the portal." Vee said to Luz, "You... look different. Very different."
"Oh yeah, that…funny story." Luz said with a nervous chuckle. "It turns out…if a human stays in the demon realm too long, they…..become a witch."
Camila and Vee became silent at this, staring at Luz with wide eyes and assuming it was a joke.
"I'm sorry what?" Camila asked quickly.
"Do... do you think this is hair dye?" Luz asked, motioning to her hair, "Do you think I changed my ears myself? Do you think I have fake fangs? Do you think I'm wearing contacts?"
Luz made a bright green spell circle and a small green fireball formed in her hand.
"Do you think this is special effects?" Luz asked, shaking the fire away.
"Luz, I think your mom gets it…and that she's in shock." Hunter said as Camila seemed frozen in place.
"Camila?" Vee asked her, slightly shaking her mother figure.
Camila fell backwards.
"Well... that's better than I thought she would react." Luz said, "Hold on, Cat taught me a few Healing Spells over the last few weeks. I got this."
Luz kneeled next to her and drew a spell circle, making Camila's head glow blue as she stayed close. Camila let out a groan and opened her eyes, seeing her green haired daughter and knowing it wasn't just a dream.
"So it wasn't a dream." Camila said, slowly getting up.
"No, mom. It wasn't." Luz said, helping her mother up.
Luz held two fingers up and made two spell circles, making two green lights.
"Surprise!" Luz said.
Camila looked very surprised at the trick before chuckling a bit and shaking her head. This was still Luz, human or witch.
"Very entertaining, Mija." Camila said before looking to her friends. "Though I don't know the full details, I think I understand that you all will need a place to stay until you can find a way back. You're welcome to stay her until then, mi casa esu casa."
"Vee, could you got get some blankets ready for them, while I work on dinner?"
"Sure, Camila." Vee said, walking upstairs to get some blankets for them.
Camila went to the pot and began stirring it, until it the ladle got a green glow and began stirring itself. She turned and saw Luz with a spell circle.
"You do a lot... maybe you can just sit down and relax for now." Luz said.
She twirled her finger around to make the ladle turn itself, freeing Camila to do whatever she wanted.
"…..What else can you do?" Camila asked her daughter.
"Uh, I can teleport." Luz said, making a spell circle and teleported to the other side of the room, "Not very far though."
"Wow!" Camila said, even if the teleportation was short.
"I know a few element spells like ice and fire." Luz said, drawing spell circles to make fire and ice in her hands.
"I REALLY like the fire." Luz said, almost trance like, looking at the fire, "It's such a pretty color of green."
Camila grabbed Luz's wrist and slowly lowered her arm.
"Okay, no fire spells in the house." Camila said, "Anything less... destructive?"
"I also know some Healing spells." Luz said, before sniffling a bit, "Cat and I made a good team."
Luz wiped a tear from her eye.
"This Cat, is she your-" Camila was cut off by Luz.
"NO. Cat is NOT my girlfriend, she practically a sister to me like Vee is now. She... a few weeks ago I got really sick, it was because my body was changing, turning me into a witch." Luz let out a breath, "She was there for me every day, she's my friend, she's practically family. I... I don't even know if she's alive right now."
Camila could see and sense that this Cat person had grown to be really important to Luz, essentially becoming a sister to Luz in all but blood. Camila put a hand on Luz's shoulder.
"I'm sure she's fine." Camila said, "Go rest, Luz, you look like you need it."
Luz had cuts all over her face, and it looks like she hasn't slept in a week, and Camila could tell that she probably won't be sleeping anytime soon.
'Maybe she's knows a... sleep spell?' Camila thought, 'Is that a thing?'
"It is, but Eda never taught me." Luz said, making Camila shocked, "Yeah, I can also read minds. Only a couple of seconds thought. Advantage of knowing some Oracle magic."
"Oracle…..magic?" Camila asked.
"One of the nine main magics, spiritual stuff, mind reading, fortune telling. That stuff." Luz said, quickly explained. "It comes in handy at times."
"I know a couple random spells, and some small spells in each other the nine tracks." Luz said, "I'm really good at Healing and Beast Keeping."
"Healing? Beast keeping?" Camila asked, slowly smiling at these magic.
"Yeah….I guess I'm sort of like you. A vet, just with magic." Luz said with a small smile.
Camila reached out and hugged her.
"Oh, my baby is following in my footsteps!" Camila said.
"Mom... I have multiple broken ribs... and you're not helping." Luz said, struggling to breath.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!/¡Dios mío, lo siento mucho!" Camila said as she quickly pulled away from Luz.
"It's fine. A little healing magic goes a long way and it numbs the pain." Luz said, quickly drawing a spell circle to heal herself, "I'm not strong enough with magic to heal anyone fully, but numbing spells are pretty good in a pinch. Way better than painkillers too, not chance of addiction with this."
"As far as I know." Camila joked as they both laughed.
"Camila, I've got the blankets!" Vee called out from upstairs.
"Luz, can you keep dinner going while I go help Vee get a some sleeping arrangements set up for your friends?" Camila asked.
"Yes, ma'am." Luz said with a salute, only to immediately regret that, "Ow!"
Luz held her shoulder in pain as she quickly used another numbing spell to deal with it.
"Okay, I managed to dislocate my arm with that salute, not what I was hoping would happen." Luz said.
"…..I am going to check on Vee before I decide to force you into the car and take you to the hospital." Camila said, leaving the kitchen a bit faster.
"Oh, yeah, bring the girl with a giant magic sac on her heart to a hospital, that won't raise suspicion." Luz said.
"Not listening!" Camila quickly said.
Focusing on dinner, Luz went back to stirring the stew before chopping some vegetables. She saw the recipe her mother was making and knew what to do for it. Upstairs, Camila got a couple of folding beds out for Willow and Amity... she wasn't going to let the boys and girls sleep together so she'll figure out a place for them after she gets this set up.
'Maybe they could stay in the basement. Plenty of room for the boys there. Just have to clear some junk.' Camila thought as Vee was showing Willow and Amity an alarm clock.
Oh boy, that went about as well as you'd expect. Camila could only stare in shock of their overreaction as she now had to add "buy new alarm clock" to the list of things she had to do. The big hole in the floor with vines coming out of it... she's sure Luz will know a spell to fix that.
"Girls." Camila said, getting their attention. "I know you've been through a lot but I am going to lay down one important rule."
Camila stood up and cleared her throat, making sure they hear her NICE and CLEAR.
"No magic in the house."
"What? But Ms. Noceda…" Willow and Amity said.
"NO MAGIC in the house." Camila said, giving an "innocent" smile as sort of spirit beast appeared behind her. "Understood, girls?"
Both went rigid and nodded.
"Yes ma'am!" They said.
Vee recognized this, the feeling of a mother's authority and final say, it was unshakable and unquestionable.
"Good." Camila said.
The beast like pressure vanished as Camila took her leave, allowing Amity and Willow to breath easy again.
"You'll get used to that." Vee said, patting Amity's shoulder. "But don't get the wrong idea, she's strict because she cares."
"I've been told that before."
Willow put a hand in Amity's shoulder, knowing just who she was referring to.
"Camila is NOTHING like her, Amity. I'm sure she really does care and is just worried." Willow said.
Amity let out a sigh, it was hard to believe that.
Yet, Camila seemed so genuine and kind. Not to mention Luz had always talked about her and how she was nothing like Odalia, perhaps this was a chance to see it for herself since they were now staying here.
The Long awaited sequel to No Humans on the Boiling Isles. I'm actually pretty glad I waited, because this is way better than the version I originally had planned. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
