Airis Miller was an ordinary girl who lived with her parents. They lived in a house in the middle of Seacress street. She had tan skin, dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She had lightly visibly freckles as well. Her father, Mr Miller was a software engineer and usually worked from home. Her mother, Mrs Miller was a teacher at her own very school. She looked like the mini female version of her father. She gotten the genetic condition of a weak leg from her father.
An alarm rang on her phone. She turned it off. She had woken up at six in the morning. It was summer vacation for her but she preferred waking up early anyway. She sat up in bed and stared around for the light to adjust. She went to the bathroom to shower. After that she changed into a loose t-shirt and sweatpants. She put on her round spectacles as she was nearly blind without them. She went out of her room quietly and went downstairs. She went to the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water and drank it. She was thinking if she should cook anything for breakfast. Even though she was only fourteen she knew how to cook. She wanted to learn to cook so her mother taught her.
She decided to eat cornflakes and milk as she felt lazy. She took the cereal from the right cupboard along with a bowl with a spoon from the holder below it and the milk from the fridge and sat down. She was eating breakfast when she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. She looked up and saw the thin, tall messy, jet-black haired boy coming down the stairs looking slightly dazed. He walked into the kitchen.
" Morning dumbdumb... " She said smiling slightly. He looked at her with tired eyes. " Did you set up my an alarm on my phone for six-thirty in the morning? " He said groggily pointing his hand up and down. Airis smiled mischievously. " Yes I did, Mr Taylen Kelvin needs to wake up early for this. " He frowned at her. He walked to the sink and turned on the water. He took some water in his hands, washed his face and flatened his hair. He took a bowl from the cupboard and a spoon from the holder and sat down beside Airis. He dumped the cereal into the bowl and then poured some milk. Then he began to eat.
" I have a question... " Taylen said after swallowing a spoon full. " Hmm? " she asked as her mouth was full. " Why do students still ask if we're twins, I mean we moved here about three and a half years ago but they still ask? " He said staring at Airis with his eyes slightly narrowed for his thinking face. Airis laughed.
" Let's see, we look identical, we both wear glasses, we are in the same grade, our birthdays are only a month apart-" " Okay, okay, I get what you mean.. " he said cutting her off and taking another spoon. " But they don't ask like saying if we are related, they just straight up ask 'Are you twins?'. " Airis stood up as she was finished. " Do you mind it that much? she asked as she put the bowl into the sink. " I don't mind it but, it just gets annoying answering the same question over and over again. " He said quickly defending himself as he thought she was angry. " I think whenever we're together we should have stickers on our clothes saying ' We are not twins, we are just cousins born a month apart and look alike, is that good." Airis said smiling and raising one of her eyebrows. Taylen opened his mouth and closed it again. " Now that would be embarrassing. " He said.
" Quickly finish eating, shower and then get ready, we'll be out by sven thirty. " Airis said with a determined look on her face. Taylen nodded and shoved another spoon of cornflakes into his mouth. As Airis was leaving the kitchen, Taylen muttered " She sounds like were going to compete in a race..." Airis turned around and said " Heard that. " Taylen grimaced with the expression of " Just-go-before-I-hit-you ". She smiled and went up to her room and closed her door. She picked out a loose t-shirt and jeans. She changed into them and putcher hair into a bun. She had to use tons of boby pins to secure her hair from getting out.
After that she grabbed her phone and put it into her bag and hung it onto her shoulders. She got out and went back downstairs.
She sat on the sofa and scrolled through her phone. " Morning " she said as she heard her mother coming down the stairs. " Morning, did you and Taylen have breakfast? " She asked. Airis looked up and nodded. " Let's go, Ri... " said her cousin coming down the stiars with his backpack. Airis picked her bag up.
" Bye, Mum " She said smiling. " See you later, Aunt. " said Taylen. " Bye, stay safe. " she said closing the door. Both the kids nodded. Then they walked towards the black bicycle on their front yard.
" You or me? " She said pointing at herself then her cousin. He pulled his hand out in a ball to represent the game of rock-paper-scissors. They both counted and gave put their hands in front. Airis did a paper sign while Taylen did a scissor one. He victoriously threw his hand in the air. She handed her bag to him and hopped on in front and he got on and wrapped his arms around her waist. It was a hot, sunny day and the sun was glaring into their eyes.
Then she started cycling. After a while, they arrived infront a tree house, their very own. Taylen got off and Airis parked it near the tree. " Uh, I'm sweating and covered in your sweat. " Taylen exclaimed. " Well, we don't ride in style do we your highness. " She said rolling her eyes. " Anyways, call, A.D, or he's gonna arrive late. "
He looked out his phone and put the person 'A.D' on dial. Soon he picked, " Hello? " he said. " Oi, Aid, hurry up and come, we're already here and drive quickly. " Taylen said. " Ok, see you soon. " And he hung up. " Let's go up. " he said. And both of them climbed up to their treehouse and sat down on their respective bean bags.
" Let me guess, you brought a book. " Taylen said when Airis dug through her bag. She nodded and brought out her favourite, Harry Potter. " You've probably read that a million times already. " he said in a disbeliefed voice. " And your point is? " she replied back and he just shook his head. Then they heard a car pull up. After that a door open and close.
" Hey ya'll.. " said a boy, whose face popped up as he climed the ladder, this was Aiden Myers, taller then his worth, dark skinned and a football expert. " Surprising that you got her on time. " said the only girl, Airis in the room. He chuckled. He had come up with a white box
" Got everything? " he asked. They other two nodded. Then they began their plans. Airis took a white cloth from her bag and attached it to the one side the of the whole wall. Then Taylen took out a gift wrapped from his bag. And Aiden opened the box, in it was a cake. He took it out and placed it on the small table in the middle.
Just then they heard, " Hey guys, we're all here... " And came up the ladder...
