Hi! I don't own Percy Jackson or any of the characters. I only own Alyssa and she doesn't come into the story much. Please enjoy!
I put the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in the front window, wishing I could eat one. But no, Alyssa made it very clear yesterday that I was not to sneak cookies.
"You can have one or two of the old or broken ones when your shift is over, Annabeth," she said. "But not the freshly baked ones."
I looked at the clock. I couldn't wait to get out of there and go to the library. The bell rang, and I looked up. It was a young man with scruffy black hair and a tan. He had a mischievous grin. He came up to the counter.
"Hello!" I said. "How can I help you?"
"Do you have any blue chocolate chip cookies?" He asked.
I stared at him. His eyes were green like the sea. The question startled me.
"We have iced blue sugar cookies," I said, pointing at them.
"Well, yes. I've seen those. But do you have any blue chocolate chip cookies?"
"No," I said.
He looked so disappointed that I said, "We don't have any right now, but I can bake you some."
I don't know what came over me. How could I bake blue chocolate cookies when Alyssa wanted me to make all the other cookies and pastries? His face lit up.
"You can?" He asked.
I smiled. I didn't care what Alyssa said. Who cares about the other cookies and stuff?
"Yes, but it's going to take some time. Why don't you come back in an hour or so?"
"Okay."
He was going out the door when I said, "Wait!"
He looked back.
"Yes?"
"What's your name? For the order."
"Percy."
Before I could say anything else, he left the bakery. Alyssa came in from the kitchen.
"You spent all that time talking to that guy and he didn't buy anything?" She asked.
"Well, no. But-"
"Did you at least get his number?"
I blushed.
"No. But he is coming back later."
"He is? Why?"
"Because I told him I'd make him blue chocolate chip cookies."
Before Alyssa could say anything, I said, "He really wants them and maybe other people will like them too. Please let me bake them."
She sighed and smiled a little.
"Okay. But they cost fifty cents extra."
"Sounds good."
I went into the kitchen and made the dough. We didn't have any blue chocolate chips, so I decided on blue m'n'm's along with regular chocolate chips. I dyed the dough blue, rolled it into balls, and baked it. I couldn't wait for Percy to come back. My phone rang.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hey, Annabeth. It's Piper."
"Hey, Piper. I'm at work."
"I know, but I have to ask you something quick."
"What is it?"
"Do you have a date for the Gala next week?"
I rolled my eyes. Piper, my best friend, was always trying to get me to date someone. The big Gala was coming up and she was obsessed with finding a boyfriend for me.
"No. I don't even want to go."
"You are going."
"You can't make me go."
"Oh, yes, I can. Why don't you just go with Luke?"
I sighed. Luke used to be one of my best friends, but we had recently fallen out.
"No way."
"Well, find someone to go with, or I will find someone for you."
Before I could say another word, she hung up. I went back to helping other customers. In a few minutes, the blue cookies were done. I set two aside for Percy and put the rest in the window. Percy came in a few minutes, not before three people bought a blue cookie. Alyssa smiled at me and I knew this was a good idea.
"Order for Percy!" I said when I saw him.
He came to the counter.
"How much do I owe you?" He asked.
"It's on me."
"Really?"
"Uh-huh."
I knew Alyssa would take it out of my pay, but I didn't care. I handed him the two cookies.
"Have a nice day!"
He looked like he was about to leave, but then stopped.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Annabeth."
"What a pretty name!"
I smiled, blushing.
"Thanks."
"Do you have something to write on?" He asked.
I grabbed a napkin and handed it to him. He wrote something down, handed it to me, and left. I looked at the napkin. It read,
"Thanks for the cookies, Annabeth. Call me."
Next to it was his phone number. I smiled. Maybe I would have a date for the Gala after all.
Should this be a one-shot or a longer story? Please let me know in the reviews. Thanks for reading!
