Derek was woken by screaming during the night. Other members of the Legacy House came out of their rooms as Derek left his room.

"What the hell is going on?" Nick asked sleepily.

"It's Arabella," Derek said. He walked past with the key to her room.

"With what happened, it's probably just a nightmare... I'm going back to bed."

"When she has nightmares, they're not just nightmares, Nick. You should know that by now."

"It's a nightmare!" Nick called out as he went back into his room to collapse onto his bed.

Derek unlocked the door of Arabella's room and went inside. He had to listen to what appeared to be incoherent babbling for awhile before Philip spoke from the doorway.

"She dreamed her mother was after her again," Philip said.

"I gathered that much," Derek said, holding Arabella close. "I've never seen her so afraid. She needs a therapist, but I can't get her to talk to Rachel."

Arabella continued babbling again.

"Shhhh..." Derek said, trying to calm her.

The look on Philip's face suddenly changed. "Derek, she just said her mother's cult wants to sacrifice the baby."

"The ties were severed when her mother was killed. She shouldn't feel anything concerning her mother's cult," Derek said with a frown the next day.

"Then what's going on with her?" Nick asked. "You said that any psychic ties she had from this would be severed, but there's still a connection. I don't think Philip's left her alone once since last night."

"You went back to bed, as I recall."

"I didn't realize it might be that serious. Maybe you and your friend should have killed all of the members of that cult."

"They weren't there," Derek said. "When someone gets killed they feel it. Usually, they move on right away." Shortly after saying these last words, Derek remembered the dying words of Arabella's mother: I gave you one and kept the other. She was born with the mark.

"What is it?" Alex asked, noticing a difference on the look on Derek's face.

"There was something her mother said as she was dying, but I thought it was a lie," Derek said hesitantly.

"What was that?" Rachel asked.

"She claimed Arabella has a twin sister," Derek said after several moments hesitation. "She said that Arabella's sister was born with the marking."

"Derek, what if her mother didn't place the curse on Arabella herself?" Alex asked. "What if it was her sister?"

Derek thought. "If she knows, then it's possible. The thing is, she'd never hide in the same place as her mother now that she's gone. She could perform any type of spell to speed up a pregnancy just so she could sacrifice a baby."

"So long as she can get her hands on it," Nick said. He stood up and went for the door. "We have to get started, don't we?"

"At least they're not mentioning what they overheard yesterday..." Alex whispered to Derek after the other two had left the room.

"Speaking of yesterday... how do things stand between us?" Derek asked.

"How do you want things to stand?" she asked with a small smile.

"Maybe we should figure that one out," he suggested.

"Hmmm... now... or later?"

Derek considered, eyeing her figure. "While I'd like to figure this out now, maybe it's best to figure it out after Arabella's situation is resolved."

"What a way to spoil a perfectly good mood." Alex pouted a little.

"Think I could fit in a little time for something..." he said.

She came closer. "How much is a little time?"

"We'll see." He pulled her close and pressed himself very firmly against her.

"Maybe we should lock the door again."

Derek was already working on their clothes. "Don't bother. I'm not waiting."

"Daring..."

Unnoticed by the pair only minutes later, the door was opened by Nick, who was trying to see what was taking them. Nick quickly shut the door back up. "I don't ever want to see that again!"

"Again?" Rachel asked when Nick told her what happened.

"Yeah. There was skin and... ugh!" He made a face. "If I ever see that again, I think I'll die!"

"You'll get over it."

"God... it's like walking in on your dad with your sister!"

"Nick, I really don't think Derek is that much older than Alex."

Nick made a face again.

"Besides, there's an age difference between Arabella and Philip."

"Now there's something I don't ever want to see!" Nick shouted. "That's like finding your best friend with your little sister!" The former Navy SEAL began cursing loudly.

"And that's why you were so upset about Derek's refusal to stop what was happening."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You view her as a younger sister and that's what you were really so upset about."
