I am so mad at myself right now. I left some of the letters of the word "daughter" out of the word when Reiko called Maddie loving daughter. I am so sorry for that, everyone! I'll be sure to proofread next time. Anyway, welcome to the next chapter of "Felidae: My First Murder Case". Last chapter, Maddie and Francis escaped from The Claudandus Sect and met the blind she cat known as Felicity as well as Maddie being reunited with her family. She was also told that her friends were there too. Which means Maddie is gonna have to keep a sharp eye out for them.

Now let's not waste anymore time. Let's get this show on the road! Again, I'm sorry about the inconvenience with a word in chapter 5. I still can't believe I did that. Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Felidae. I only own my OCs.

Chapter 6: Pascal

The next morning, the guys and I were sitting in Gus' kitchen eating fish. Well... Francis and Bluebeard were eating two pieces of fish and Koji was eating sardines. I on the other hand, was slowly eating my fish. Not because I hated it, but because I was nervous. Nervous about my parents, Arlene, and Tara. I didn't want them to become one of the murderer's new victims. My parents most of all. And I really hoped Felicity would survive this time with my parents protecting her. At the same time I felt a little guilty about putting that responsibility on them. Francis turned to Bluebeard.

"You were happy enough when I got involved in investigating the murders on the block." He said, "And then you go and withhold really important information."

"Yeah. What was that crazy cat preacher going on about?" I asked.

"The sect don't mean much." Bluebeard said with his mouth full of fish, "All that mumbojumbo."

We heard Koji snickering and turned to him.

"What's so funny?" Bluebeard asked.

"I'm not the one talking with my mouth full." He said.

Upon hearing that, I punched him a little in the arm.

"Ow!"

"Don't be rude, Koji!" I said.

"Okay, okay, okay. I was just teasing."

We then turned back to Bluebeard.

"Now what did you say?" Francis asked.

Bluebeard pulled the fish out of his mouth.

"Aw, shit. The sect's harmless. Cheap thrill or two just to see who's chicken and who ain't, it's all bullshit anyway." He told us.

"That's not what I'd call it." Said Francis.

"Me neither." I said.

"The sect's been going for quite a while." Bluebeard said, "Joker's been teaching the gospel of Claudandus as its high priest and over the years, the blowhard's attracted quite a following. That's all."

"Joker? I take it Joker's that master of ceremonies with the charm of a viper." Francis assumed.

Bluebeard nodded.

"That's right. But I can promise you it's harmless, Francis. No one knows who Claudandus really was or even if he really existed. Can we eat now?" He asked.

"Yes of course, Bluebeard. Then maybe we can meet this genius you told us about." said Francis.

"What genius?" Koji asked, curious.

"You'll see soon enough, kid." Bluebeard told him.

As humans go, your can opener is a remarkably good cook. Absolutely A1."

"Yeah. And these sardines are really top notch." Said Koji.

As I was eating, I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I turned to see Francis looking at me with a concerned look.

"Are you alright, Maddie?" He asked, "You've been eating really slow for the past few minutes or so. Is something bothering you?"

I nodded.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just that I'm worried about the well-being of my parents and my friends. Because think about it; with a psychotic killer on the loose, it may be only a matter of time before they're all dead." I said.

I felt a paw on my left foreleg and turned to see Koji who had a small reassuring smile.

"I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you." He said, "I mean think about it; considering how highly trained our parents are and the acrobatics you trained your friends to do, there might be a chance that they'll be alright. In other words, have faith."

Francis and Bluebeard turned to us with questioning looks.

"What do you mean by 'highly trained' and 'acrobatics', Koji? Surely it would be impossible for a cat let alone four of them to know all of that stuff." Francis said.

I laughed nervously.

"R-Right. You're very funny, little brother." I said.

"What do you m-" Koji started to say.

"Just play along." I whispered to him.

A little while later, we were outside with Bluebeard leading the way. He was walking to the stone wall.

"I looked in Gus' dictionary." Francis said, "Claudandus is a latin word meaning, 'He who should or must be sealed'. What do you think that means?"

"Let me put the old thinking cap on." Bluebeard said as he jumped up on the wall.

"Oh, you do think, do you?" Asked Francis as he jumped up on the wall as well.

I picked my little brother up by the scruff and jumped up with him. I put him down and we all started walking.

"I think nonstop. Surprises you, eh? I even read a book once." Bluebeard said as he laughed.

I couldn't help but giggle myself. While we were walking, I thought I could walk on two legs a little just see if I could walk on the walls like that as well as on the ground. I had to make sure they weren't watching. Even Koji. After we walked a few walls, I decided to try. I stood up on two legs and spread my arms to keep myself from falling. I steadily put one foot in front of the other again and again and so far, I was doing a pretty decent job.

But that was until I felt myself about to sneeze. And unfortunately, I did. I didn't fall, but I did however notice Bluebeard glancing at me.

"You okay there, kid?" He asked.

I quickly got on all fours and chuckled a bit.

"Oh. Y-Yeah, I'm alright, Bluebeard. I just... sneezed a little. Freaking pollen." I said, nervously.

Bluebeard laughed. I then tapped Koji's shoulder and he glanced at me.

"What is it?" He asked.

"You'll never believe what I just did." I told him, "I just tried walking on two legs even though I'm a cat. And It worked. I nearly fell because I sneezed, but it worked!"

His face brightened.

"Really? Cool, I'll try it." He said.

He was about to do so when I gently pushed him down on all fours.

"Do NOT try it. Not here, not now." I whispered, firmly.

He got a disappointed look and kept on walking.

"Killjoy." He mumbled.

We then saw a fancy looking brown and white house. To me, it always looked more like a castle than a house. Francis and Bluebeard jumped down from the wall while I jumped down holding on to my little brother. It was then that I saw Bluebeard mark his territory on the step. I made a disgusted face when I saw that.

"Ahh. Bluebeard was here." He said.

Koji laughed a little but stopped when I glared at him.

We noticed that the door was open and went inside. We got a good look at the place. It looked like someone rich lived here.

"Very impressive." Francis said.

"Holy guacamole. Take a look at that picture." Koji said as he started laughing.

I instantly knew what he was talking about and gasped. I tried to cover his eyes as best I could.

"Did the owner ever think about if kids were here?" I asked, a little offended having my brother see a picture like that at a young age.

Bluebeard was laughing as well.

Heh heh heh. I don't think he did." He said.

Francis got a good look at the painting too.

"Have we come to the house of an art collector or a pimp?" He asked.

"It could be both." I replied.

"You're guess is as good as mine." Bluebeard said, "I believe the can opener who owns this joint has some sort of job as a scientist or was it a parapsychologist I don't know. What's the difference?"

We followed him upstairs to some sort of room. We looked around and saw a picture of Gregor Mendell on the wall. It was then we heard a voice.

"Delighted to see you my friends."

We turned to see a fluffy orange cat at a computer.

"I hope you enjoyed your tour of the house." He said.

He jumped down from the desk and walked over to us. I instantly knew who it was. It was Pascal. Bluebeard started the introductions.

"This brother here is Francis, and this even cleverer brother is Pascal." He said.

He then gestured to Koji and I.

"And this little sister and young brother here are Madeline and her brother Koji."

"You may call me Maddie, sir." I said, politely.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Pascal." Said Koji.

"It's nice to meet all three of you. I think we'll get along fine." He said, "Can I offer all of you something to eat?"

Bluebeard's face brightened and so did Koji's.

"Thanks, but we've eaten already, Pascal." Francis said.

Bluebeard lightly nudged him.

"Shut up will ya, asshole? Personally, I can handle an extra little mouthful or two." He told him.

"Well, if you know where the kitchen is, you'll find some kidneys in a dish." Said Pascal.

Bluebeard started to go to the kitchen, but not before turning to Koji.

"Hey, Koji. I bet you can't handle eating kidneys the way you can handle eating the sardines. But I suppose you can try. That is... unless you're chicken." He said with a smug smile.

My brother was instantly offended.

"What?! Oh, you... Okay, Blues, you want a challenge, I'm game. I bet I can eat a kidney without puking my guts up. First one who can eat one without puking is the winner. So, you're on!" He said.

Bluebeard laughed a little.

"Lookin' forward to it, kiddo." He said.

And with that, Bluebeard and Koji dashed off to the kitchen faster than Quicksilver. Okay, maybe not that fast, but you know what I mean. Pascal turned to us when he noticed something.

"Oh. Maddie. It's come to my attention that you have something with you." He said.

Saying that caused Francis to turn to me. I knew that they were talking about my sword. I looked at it and turned back to Pascal.

"Oh, this? This is just an old sword I found in Francis' house." I said, "It's an old sword from feudal Japan that is said to have been used by one of two cats who were raised and trained by a samurai and ninja who were married. The only thing is I found one sword, but the other is missing."

"Hmm. Interesting." Said Pascal.

"What we're really here to talk about is the strange and mysterious murders that have been going on in this neighborhood." Francis said.

"Oh, yes. Come on, let's head over to the computer." Said Pascal.

We followed him and when I looked up, I saw the computer. He hopped up on to the desk and we did too.

"To tell the truth, I never thought I'd see one of us sitting at a computer and actually knowing how to use it." Francis said.

"I'm trying in my feeble way to use the computer to get on the track of the murderer you're out to find." Said Pascal.

"Amazing." I said.

"Indeed."

He typed a word on the screen. It read, FELIDAE.

"Do you two know the meaning of this word, Felidae?" He asked us.

"Sounds like a scientific word." I pointed out.

"Could it be a scientific name for all our family divisions, cats as they're usually called?" Asked Francis.

"Felidae. Evolution has created an astounding number of various creatures. Not one however deserves the respect and wonder the genius felidae has earned." Pascal stated.

"What is this list for?" I asked, even though I knew already.

That, dear Maddie, is a list of those of us who live in the neighborhood. Name, age, sex, breed, markings... I almost forgot I need to enter you two now as well." He told me.

"Why does that scare me somehow?" I thought, uneasily.

"Incredible." Said Francis.

"Yes, it is." Pascal said, "Even better if it could help us to solve a murder."

Francis turned to him.

"Did you know that all of the dead brothers-"

"Yes."

"Huh?"

"They were all on the prowl after some female in heat." Pascal stated.

"I have an idea." Said Francis.

"Yes?"

"Find out what breed they were, and that may lead us to a new tie up."

"Now that sounds like a great idea." I said.

"Simple enough." Pascal said.

As soon as he said that, he tapped a key and a list of deceased cats popped up on the screen. Including Sacha and Deep Purple.

"Well, not of the more particularly aristocratic examples of Felidae..."

But all the same race." Said Francis, "So they weren't just excited and male, they were all European shorthairs."

"Yeah, maybe." I said. But then I suddenly got a feeling of dread. Because I instantly knew what was coming. And it was something that would haunt me for the rest of my life.

"No. Not true." Pascal said, "I haven't yet added the sixth, seventh, and eighth victims to the list."

"There's been three more?" Francis asked, shocked.

I watched in horror as Pascal typed the name of the sixth victim. I thought it was going to be Felicity's name, but then I realized what he was typing:

R-E-I-K-O

It was my mother's name; Reiko. I started to tear up. He then typed in another name and it made me tear up even more.

T-A-K-E-O

It was my father's name; Takeo. I whimpered while breathing heavily. Francis turned to me with a look of shock.

"Maddie... Those are your parents!" He cried.

"But... If they're dead... then that means..." I stammered.

We then saw Pascal type the last name; Felicity. Francis gasped in horror.

"Felicity!"

"Yes." Pascal said, solemnly, "Reiko, Takeo, and Felicity, I'm afraid."

"Pascal, no! That can't be true! Maddie, Koji, and I just left them an hour ago!" Cried Francis.

Francis and I jumped off the desk. He ran ahead of me and I followed him. When we were outside, we hastily ran all the way to Felicity's house. I wasn't just hoping Felicity was okay, but my parents most of all. If they ever died, I would never forgive myself. A few seconds later, we were on the roof of Felicity's house. We slowly walked to the skylight which we found to our horror was open. I rushed past Francis and looked down. I really wish I didn't. What we saw was a horrifying site.

The floor was covered almost all in blood. We saw Felicity's decapitated head by her body which saddened Francis. I could tell he was about to cry. Felicity's right eye was also missing. I then saw the bodies of my parents. It saddened and disgusted me so much, I had to hold back from vomiting. My dad's body was sliced in two from the head, to the belly, and to the tail! His upper and lower jaws were also missing.

And then... the one thing that saddened me the most, was the state of my mother. Her forelegs were missing and she was gutted like a fish. I lost it right then and there. I vomited. Just then, I heard coughing and a voice. I instantly knew who it was.

"Madeline..."

gasp* "Mom?"

I turned to Francis.

"Francis, Mom's alive! I have to help her!"

I jumped down into the house when I heard Francis calling me.

"Maddie, wait!"

I landed on the floor and ran over to her. I got on my knees and picked her up a little.

"It's okay, Mom, I'm here." I said as I started crying.

cough* "Oh... my loving daughter... I'm so, so sorry... We tried to protect Felicity... but they overpowered us."

Her saying "they" shocked me.

"They? Y-You mean..."

She painfully nodded.

"Yes. The killer has an accomplice... it's another female cat... I... could not tell what kind... but all I know is... they have a sword."

My eyes widened.

"I knew it!" I thought.

I heard Mom coughing again. Only this time she coughed up blood. It hurt me more than ever to see her like this.

"We have to get you help." I said.

She shook her head.

"No... *cough* It's too late for that now. Listen to me... very carefully, Maddie. *cough* You and Francis need to find the killer and his accomplice and kill them before they... kill anyone else. Take... good care of Koji... and train him well. Don't let our sacrifices... *cough* be in vain."

"I give you my word, Mom." I said.

"Farewell... my loving daughter."

With one final breath, my mother closed her eyes and died.

"Mom. Mom? MOM!!!!!!!"

I started crying my eyes out right then and there. I then heard Francis' voice.

"Maddie..."

I was still crying. Then I started breathing harshly. And then before I knew it, with all of my fury, I screamed into the heavens. It was a scream so loud, that some would say that it still echoed throughout the neighborhood to this day. I promise, Mom. I promise that yours and Dad's sacrifices will NOT be in vain. With Francis and Bluebeard's help, I will find the killer and his accomplice. and when I do... I will end them ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!!

Author's Note: Wow. This was a really sad chapter. And from the looks of it, Maddie's going to be out for blood. And I just hope she succeeds. Please be sure to read and review and share share share this story. Also, please be sure to keep watch for the next chapter. Constructive criticism is welcome. See you later, my fellow bronies and pegasisters.
