Chapter 7: Flight of the Night

Valka meanwhile was still backtracking to make sure they weren't followed staying within the very thick cloud cover. She lifted her visor when she fought she saw something and then moments later she quickly swirled out of the way in order to avoid a tall mast.

As the cloud cover began to vanish she found herself in the middle of a massive armada of ships that belong to the Dragon Trappers. Judging from the direction it was clear that they were heading to their new home.

Before she could do anything else she saw four Deathgrippers flying towards her carrying Grimmel's strange contraption. Then suddenly striking them from out of nowhere was Deathgripper and she fell off of Cloudjumper.

Fortunately she managed to hook her staff around one of his horns and then he tossed her back onto his back.

"Watch out!" Valka yelled as another Deathgripper flew towards them.

Cloudjumper quickly grabs it and then spun around tossing it into the other Deathgripper.

"Go, Cloudjumper!" Valka ordered.

The Deathgrippers immediately followed her, but Grimmel whistled stopping them in their tracks and allowed Valka to escape.

Meanwhile, Toothless, Midnight and their cubs are flying through the clouds while looking for the Fury Pride, though it was harder than they think since they saw no signs of them.

'Any signs of them?' Darkie cooed in wonder.

'Not even a dark spot in the sky.' Nightshine added.

Midnight was looking around desperately, 'They're around here. I know it.' She said.

Toothless look at his mate as he flew close to her as he gave her a quick nuzzle. 'Take it easy, Midnight. We'll find them. They have to show up sooner or later. There's a whole pride of them.' He assured with a warm gummy smile.

Midnight gave an uncertain look as she look over the clouds, but then she heard familiar roars as her ears perked up as did the rest of her family as ears perked as they look around and turned to their left as they saw Stoick and the rest of the of the pride flying beside them.

'You're mate is correct, my daughter.' Stoick said as then beside them the Light Furies appeared.

The Night Fury family all smiled widely as Midnight was extremely happy. 'Father! Family! You're here!' Midnight happily said.

'Of course, dear. And it looks like your mate has finally regained his ability to fly on his own.' Midnight's mother said as she noticed Toothless' tail, 'Curious.'

Toothless spun his tail around, 'Curtesy of Hiccup, works just like the old one, see?' He warbled, extending and moving his automatic tail-fin in sync with his real one.

'Wow, that's actually pretty impressive.' Moona said with an impressive smile while Stoick gave a suspicious look.

'A human made you a tail to fly?' Stoick asked in suspicious. 'Why?'

'Father, our owners decided to let us fly on our own together to find you. So you wouldn't be uncomfortable about them being around.' Midnight explained. 'Please, just trust us. Trust me.' She pleaded while giving puppy eyes.

Stoick looked at his daughter for a moment before he sigh. 'Alright. As long as there's no humans around, I'll let allow this once.' He said as he flew ahead. 'Now come along, there's a lot to show and teach you. We must go to our sacred home.' He said as he and the other pride flew off.

'Hey, wait up!' Starlight called out as she and her family flew after the pride as they flew across the clouds as they flew close to the pride.

Toothless and Midnight then did a few flying tricks together for fun as the Pride watched them. Daybreak flew close by and then shot a plasma blast infront of her activating her cloak.

'Whoa! That just keep being really impressive everytime.' Toothless warbled before the Daybreak appeared next to them with a smile.

'Thanks, maybe you all can do it too.' Daybreak said as the Pride Furies then entered a hurricane as they flew at the eye of the storm.

Feeling intrigued, Toothless shot a plasma blast and flew through the fire, but he didn't cloak, 'Okay, that didn't work, let me try again.' Toothless warbled as he repeated the process but like before it didn't work and his got some embers in his nose, 'Ah-Ah-Achoo!' He sneezed.

The Fury cubs laughed at Toothless as Midnight gave a chuckle in amusement. 'Good one, dad!' Darkie chortled.

Stoick rolled his eyes and shook his head flying next to Toothless, 'Your doing it all wrong. Honestly Young Dragon, don't you know anything about your abilities?' He questioned.

'Give me a break, I hardly know anything about our kind since I was left as a cub on my own.' Toothless said in defense.

'Truthly, so was I father.' Midnight said while defending her mate. 'We don't know what our abilities are. We were alone together for years.'

Stoick sighed and looked forward, 'Here, I'll show you how it's done.' He growled as he then closed his eyes as he concentrated hard, then inhaled as lightning formed around him and gave a mighty roar th and he suddenly vanished, leaving Toothless, Midnight, and their cubs shock by that while the pride just shook their heads.

'Father! Where'd you go!?' Midnight roared out as she look around for her father as he appeared beside her as electricity was around his body as he came in full view as they notice him. 'Wow! What was that?! How did you do that?!' She asked in excitement.

'Night Furies can cloak when they harness the power of lightning to camouflage their scales to hide in plain sight when there's no night sky to blend in.' Stoick explained as he looked at Midnight, Toothless and their cubs. 'You all have that power too. You just need to focus on the lightning around you to release the most powerful lightning blast.' He instructed.

'Are you sure we can do this?' Blaze asked her grandfather uncertainly. 'I mean, we're not sure if we can.'

'Trust me, young one. You can do it. Just focus and concentrate on charging up your plasma blasts to their full power.' Stoick instructed.

Midnight and Toothless looked at each other uncertainty as they looked at their five cubs as they each gave encouraging expressions as the two each started to charge charge up their plasma blasts as lightning then started to form around them as the Pride covered their eyes from the bright flash as Midnight and Toothless gave mighty roars as they disappeared, making the pride stop in their tracks.

'Whoa, they did it!' Starlight cheered as the pride either roared in surprise or joy that they all look around for them as Stoick gave a proud smile as Midnight and Toothless appeared behind them as they flew off.

The Two Night Furies furies gave puff of smokes out of their muzzles as they gave exhausted expressions. 'Wow, that was… really something.' Midnight moaned.

'I've never charge up something that big before.' Toothless grumbled as he and Midnight titled to the side as they were caught by the other furies flew to them as they regain their balance as they look at them.

'You all did great! And that was the most powerful lightning we've ever seen!' Midnight's brother yelled out in awed.

'Mom, Dad, that was so amazing!' Darkie shouted in excitement.

Toothless and Midnight got their bearings as they gave gummy smiles to each other as they realize what they accomplish. 'Now I get why we''re known as the unholy offspring of lightning and death.' Toothless wabbled in awed.

'I didn't realize we could really use lightning! I thought only Skrills could use them!' Midnight exclaimed.

'Skrills are strike class, like us.' Stoick explained with a proud smile. 'Night Furies can also harness Lightning to use as blasts for defense. When they are at their peak and old enough to use them. And now you have that power now too.' He added.

'Wow! That's amazing father! And it feels great! We can do lightning!' Midnight cheered as she twirl around the sky as she flew up like a cub she was exclaiming in joy while Stoick shook his head fondly while Toothless flew up after Midnight.

'Wait for me, dear!' Toothless roared as he flew after Midnight as the two furies circled each other as they are now in front of the moonlight as they are now in front of the moon while making a heart shape as they look at each other before Toothless licked Midnight on her face, which surprise her from that. 'Just like when we first went on our first moon flight, right?' He cooed with a gummy smile.

Midnight looked at Toothless as she gave a fond smile as she licked Toothless back in return. 'Brings back memories, doesn't it?' She cooed back with an alluring look in her eyes.

The Pride and Toothless and Midnight's cubs smiled at the two Night Furies as Stoick looked at his daughter proudly as he gave a roar to them. 'Come along you two. There's something to show you." He roared as he flew down through the storm as the Pride followed while Toothless and Midnight look at each other.

'Shall we, my love?' Toothless asked with a flirting expression with a smile.

'Yes we shall.' Midnight said with the same expression as the two furies followed after the pride as they flew in sync.

The two made it with the Pride and their cubs as they flow over the ocean as the Northern Lights are shining above them as they flow above the waterlines.

'Wow. Those must be the Northern Lights.' Midnight said in awed as she and Toothless flew side by side with their cubs.

'They're beautiful.' Toothless said as he and Midnight touched wing tips as they followed the pride.

'They look amazing!' Darkie cheered as he and his siblings cheered.

'You ain't seen nothing yet.' Midnight's aunt said as they flew across the ocean as the family quickly followed as they then saw a massive waterfall in the middle of the ocean. 'We're here.' She said.

'A waterfall?' Midnight asked in surprise.

'In the middle of the ocean? Never seen that before.' Toothless commented.

'Awesome!' Nightshine cheered as did his siblings.

'Wait till you see what's in the waterfall.' Moona cheered as she and her mother flew down into the waterfall.

Stoick then turned to his daughter and her family. 'It is time for you both to the Birthplace of all Dragonkind.' He said seriously as he and the pride flew down as well.

The Night Fury family stayed above the waterfall as Toothless and Midnight registered what Stoick said, 'Birthplace of all Dragonkind? Could he mean…?' Midnight trailed off.

'This is the…' Toothless trailed off as well as their cubs flew around.

'Mom, Dad, this could be the place!' Darkie yelled out as he and his siblings flew around.

'Come on! We gotta see it up close! This could be exciting!' Starlight urged.

'Race ya!' Shadow yelled out as he flew down as his siblings flew after him as they gave dragon-like laughters.

Toothless and Midnight stayed in the air for a moment as they turned to each other as Toothless gave an uncertain look. 'I don't know, Midnight. Hiccup and Hicca told us to be back before sun down and it's already late. I'm not sure.' He moaned uncertainly.

Midnight gave Toothless an assuring smile as she gave him a comforting nuzzle. 'Come on, Toothless. This wouldn't be the first time we've adventured without them or they managed to find a way without us.' She cooed as she break up. 'Besides, if this really is the place, they would be really happy to see us and find out what we discovered like the time when we found their helmets and showed them our cubs! So we just go down there and take a look around and get out before they can worry. What do you say?' She asked with a hopeful smile.

Toothless gave a thought for a moment as he gave a smile and cooed at his mate. 'Well, you're never wrong. Okay, we'll go down for a peek, but then it's back to Hiccup and Hicca.' He cooed.

Midnight gave a wide gummy smile as licked Toothless on the face before she flew under him and grabbed his legs. 'Great! Let's go!' She excitedly roared as she pulled Toothless down to the waterfall together, which made the Night Fury yelped in surprise as the two twirled around in the air as they entered the mist of the waterfall while catching up to their cubs and the Pride.

(Linebreak)

While this was going on the people of New Berk were celebrating. They really liked their new home as some of the huts are still being built while the tents are still up as the villagers showed show their admiration they were tossing the Hiccup up and down in the air.

"For the Chief!" A Viking yelled raising his tankard.

"To the Chief!" Some other Vikings cheered as they raised their tankards.

Hiccup was starting to get a little sick from been tossed up and down

"Yeah, okay, guys! Now I'm just getting sick!" Hiccup said as they put him down. "Okay. Ha. Ha. Ha."

Hiccup then leaned against Gobber and try to hold his vomiting as Hicca came to them as she held up a bottle as she gave a chuckle..

"Don't say I thought you were a little off your raw for this but it isn't half bad," Gobber said placing an arm over him.

"This is supposed to be a temporary solution," Hiccup reminded him.

"Here, bro." Hicca said as she handed Hiccup a bottle. "This will help the stomach from the whole, tossing in the air thing." She said with a chuckle.

Hiccup gave a weak chuckle as he accepted the bottle and drank the medicine.

"It's unanimous," said Eret as he grabbed a leg of chicken and walked off the table. "Everyone agrees we've definitely traded up." He then gave him a gentle nudge on the shoulder. "Well done, Chief. And you too, Healer." He complemented as he looked at Hicca.

"Thanks, Eret." Hicca said she and Hiccup merely gave him a fake laughs.

"Don't argue with the masses," Ragnar smiled with Heather in his arms as Henry was with them. "Were close on a wooden staying contact with our allies and this place is far more defensible than Berk ever was."

"He's right, guys." Henry said as he came up to Hicca. "Did you see those towering cliffs, they're impossible to scale and with our dragons we can go to and from whenever we like. Way more defensible than what Dragons Edge used to give."

"Well, that is true." Hicca said in thought.

"And don't worry, guys." Heather assured with a smile. "Even if the Dragon Trappers do find you their going to have a hard time to storm this place. The cliffs are far too high for any catapults while you guys can rain down fireballs and boulders whenever you like."

"Uh, how about we don't say that to the Thorston Twins, please?" Henry said as he sheepishly scratched his head as they all chuckled as Ragnar and Heather walked off.

Hiccup and Hicca however, were worried since they haven't seen Toothless, Midnight or the cubs since they took off to find the Pride and that it was already dark when the sun went down hours ago.

"What if the tail broke? What if Grimmel found them?" Hiccup started in concern.

"What if the Pride was ambush and they were taken, or worse!" Hicca cried out as she pace back and forth. "What if… they need us?" She asked in great concern.

Gobber gave a sigh at the Haddock twins since he knows they were worried for their dragons. "Oh, would you two relax? They're probably having the time of their lives with their family reunion." He assured.

"How would we know?" Hicca asked in concern as she and her brother walked around. "I mean, Stoick may have been able to form a connection with me, but he is still edgy and always rushing off or ready to blast if another human shows." She said in deep concern.

"Well, you did manage to make a connection with him and the pride." Henry said with a assuring smile as he place a hand on her shoulder. "In a, funny and gross way on how to befriend them." He added with a chuckle.

"Hey, like I have a choice." Hicca said with a look as she crossed her arms. "It like the same when me and Hiccup befriended Midnight and Toothless the first time. And now I see where they got it from." She commented.

Henry gave a chuckle as he gave Hicca a kiss on the cheeks, which surprised her as she smiled at him in return. "And yet, you still manage to befriend them." He added.

"But what if they're right for us?" Hiccup questioned in concern.

"Us?" Gobber and Henry asked as Hicca look at her brother in confusion.

"You guys know what I mean." Hiccup said as the four walked around the campgrounds. "They're so wild and skittish. And that Titan wing, so hotheaded, aggressive and unpredictable. I'm just gonna say it, I don't trust him."

"Wasn't our father like that, bro?" Hicca asked with her arms crossed. "He was like that too, you know." She stated.

Hiccup stopped for a moment as he thought back to the time they spent with their father before he slugged his shoulders. "Okay, bad example. But you get the point. He doesn't trust us and I don't trust him." He stated.

Gobber laughed as they left the camp. "Can't tame them all, Hiccup. One day, you and your sister are gonna have to snip those apron strings and let those crazy reptiles stretch their wings and find their roots. Reminds me of a talk I had with Stoick about you two." He commented, remembering the time when he and Stoick talked about them while wanting to go out to explore the world.

"And look on the bright side, at least one Night Fury, who happened to be the mother of Toothless, is here with the Night Guardian," Henry added as he gestured to Mira and Valkyrie, who were hanging out with the Berkian children as they beheld Valkyrie's towering height compared to Toothless or Midnight. "I'm still in shock that Valkyrie is Toothless' mother and that the Pride was actually Midnight's family. What is this, family reunion week?" He joked with a laugh.

"Trust us, it surprised us too," Hicca said with a smile. "And we had the same reaction when Hiccup and I reunited with our mother. And I'm glad to their their family are still alive." She added.

"Which also explains why Midnight was upset back on Old Berk before we left." Gobber said in thought before he jumped back in shock when he saw a bunch of Hobgobblers appear out of nowhere again and there were more than then before.

"Where do they keep coming from?!" Gobber groaned as he hid behind a tent.

"Who?" Hiccup frowned.

"What are you talking about, Gobber?" Hicca asked while Henry looked on in confusion.

Gobber then pointed in the direction of the Hobgobblers. "Those bloody Hobgobblers."

The three looked at the direction Gobber pointed to, only to find nothing.

"What Hobgobblers?" Henry asked with a raised brow.

"I swear, they're popping up faster than rabbits," Gobber said as he emerged from his hiding place and then leaned in towards him. "I think they want to eat me. Evidence would suggest that I'm tasty." He gestured to his prosthetic leg and arm.

Hicca gave a chuckle. "Gobber, they're not out to get you. You're probably still thinking about them being a bad omen." She said in amusement.

"Just you wait, Hicca. They will show their true colors soon." Gobber warned as the others chuckled in amusement. "It's no joke. We're cursed." He cried out.

Tuffnut then appeared out of nowhere. "Hiccy! A moment? Listen, I've been watching you walk. Lose the limp. No one's gonna marry that."

"I have a prosthetic leg!" Hiccup reminded him.

"So have I!" Gobber added.

"Practically half our tribe are missing a limb or two," Hicca pointed out.

"And I have parasitic twin, but you don't see me limping around about it!" Tuffnut said and then dragged Hiccup away lifted his chin up. "Come on. Chin up, Hiccy!" he then placed a hand on Hiccup's chest and he promptly removed it. "Pop out that chest!" He then slapped Hiccup on the butt. "Move that butt to the left a little bit!"

Henry then walked up to Tuffnut and then grabbed him by the beard as he turned to him. "Tuff, how about you leave Hiccup's husband training and practical advise to the Captain of Guard? Because if you don't stop, I'll tear that fake beard off." He warned as he pulled a piece of hair, threatening to tear it off which made Tuffnut scared.

"Y-Yeah, okay Hen-I mean Sir! Yes sir!" Tuffnut saluted nervously as Henry let go from his hair beard as Tuffnut backed away. "I'll just hang out with Valerie. See ya around!" He frighteningly said as he rushed to where Valerie is as the four sigh.

"Even with Valerie as his girlfriend, he still doesn't know love much." Henry commented as he put a hand to his head.

"Let's just ignore him." Hicca said as they continued on back to the party.

Gobber rolled his eyes and then he heard noises behind him. He turned around and saw who knows how many Hobgobblers staring down at him.

"Wooooo!" Gobber yelled and ran away from them.

Then suddenly arriving was Valka and Cloudjumper and both of them looked exhausted. Cloudjumper actually collapsed the moment he landed as the Haddock twins, Henry and Astrid rushed over to her.

"Mom!" Hicca called out as they came to her. "Are you hurt?" She asked as she inspected her mother for any injuries.

"What happened out there?" Hiccup asked in concern.

"I'm fine." Valka assured her children as Hicca gave her mother some room, "I don't know how, but Grimmel is tracking us." She warned.

Gobber groaned. "Gaaah! This is all because of the Hobgobblers!"

"Gobber, would you just drop it!" Henry demanded as Gobber raised his arms in startled as he nodded in understanding.

"He has a hundred ships, maybe more," Valka continued. "With enough cages for all our dragons."

Everyone was set into a fit of panic, "Does he know about the Hidden World?" Hiccup asked, knowing that the birthplace of dragons was too good a place for Grimmel and the Warlords to pass up.

"I don't think so," Eret spoke as he walked up to them. "Grimmel is a good hunter, but even he doesn't believe in fairy tales." He stated.

"He's right," Mira spoke as she and Valkyrie came to them as she and the female Night Fury had serious expressions. "My brother is the most knowledgeable when it comes to dragons. Especially the Night Furies. He must've figured out the path we took. Which makes things complicated."

Hicca turned to her brother, "We leave now, we'll lead Grimmel and the Warlords right to the Hidden World." She said in worry

Hiccup however, had a thought as he sigh. "No. If Grimmel is leading them here, we have to take him out of the mix."

"Uh… and how would we do that?" Tuffnut asked.

"By going there to capture him." Hiccup finished as the others look at him in shock.

Gobber looked at him as if he was crazy. "Capture him?"

"Are you serious?" Raeda asked in shock.

Tuffnut then immediately jumped and raised his arms in the air. "I'm with him! Who else?!"

Hiccup then turned to Henry. "Henry, as Captain of the Berk Guard you…" He tried to finished but Henry spoke up.

"I know. I have stay here and be acting chief to protect our people incase Grimmel launches a sneak attack on your sneak attack." Henry finished as he gave Hiccup a pat on the shoulder. "Things will be okay, just try and don't get killed. You and Hicca have a history of getting up close and personal with death." He added with a smirk.

"Well, Hiccup mostly." Hicca said cheekily.

Hiccup groaned. "Oh, don't think you're not one to talk, sis. You nearly face death when you were dangling by a sword in the caves beneath Berserker Island couple years back." He added with a smirk.

"Touche." Hicca said as she gave a smile before getting worried. "But Hiccup, is it wise to go straight to Grimmel? The guy surprised us with his dragons. Burned half of our old village and our home when our last plan failed." She reminded him.

"Well this time, we're taking this to his house." Hiccup declared with a serious expression.

"Don't you mean, ship since he's traveling by sea?" Valerie asked with a thoughtful look.

"You know what I mean." Hiccup said with a sigh as Mira came to him and Hicca as she place hands on their shoulders.

"If you're going, then I'm coming with." Mira said with a determined smile as the Haddock twins were surprise by her offer.

"Are you sure, Mira? I mean, to face your own brother…" Hicca asked.

"Don't worry, I know how he thinks. You need someone who knows Grimmel better, and who doesn't know him better than his own sister?" Mira asked with a smile as the others nodded in agreement. "You two need me. And you also need all the help you can get, especially since your dragons haven't returned yet." She added.

Valkyrie then came up next to the Haddock twins as she gave each of them licks to the face as they each groaned and laugh as they touched Valkyrie, who purred at their touch.

"Well, if that's okay with you, then we won't judge." Hiccup said with a smile as Mira nodded.

"Dragon Riders, let's ride!" Hicca called out as the others went out to get their armors for their surprise attack as Hicca turned to her brother. "Are you sure it's a good idea, bro? Because what if he suspects us to attack him?" She asked uncertainly.

"Don't worry, sis. We've faced worse." Hiccup assured her as he walked off. "Now, we better get ready. Because we don't want him to find this place or keep tracking us." He stated as he walked off to get his armor.

Hicca stood there as she gave a sigh. "I have a feeling this might turn out bad." She said to herself as she followed her brother to get her armor as well as they were about to move out to take the fight to Grimmel.
