I have my laptop back! Praise... Hestia. Yes Praise Hestia, the best of the gods. And maybe Hades, we like Hades. In any case- here have a chapter as I have it back. And just remember Chiron is trying to fend off a mental break down because why is all of this happening while Kronos is rising?! Really it just isn't fair the timing is terrible- hehe. And Mr. D's there like 'Hmmm, we clearly can't trust this girl if she literally told you that she'd side with the Egyptians. Which is why Bianca's been left hanging for so long. But hey she has a new buddy to help :D.
Replies (Only to the reviews of the lates chapter, purely because it'd take too long to type up all the replies to reviews I missed.):
Undeath9087: Whoops, guess you'll have to wait! And Annabeth and Piper will be more like 'Uhhhh... you fucking faced down Atlas? ALONE? When exhausted and magically drained?!'
Zephyr0f8: Nah, Atlas has just tracked them down- after all there is still a connection between Kronos and Luke, enough that Luke can't just easily hide where he is even if he doesn't know that.
Guest: Luke is very much freaked out and not thinking. He's sort of starting to care about Percy- she's the first person in a long time to actually try and take care of him rather than him having to look after others. Which considering the ages is kinda funny. Like, this grown as man just there asking this fourteen year old for advice. They're still on Mykonos of course, and Atlas tracked them down- to try and drag them back for the ritual to revive Kronos faster.
Guest: Artemis is just there watching like 'Hmmm, that's suspicious'. So she's very much like 'I'm pretty sure this girl is Poseidon's daughter but I'm going to observe for a little longer'.
Fugy: Even for Percy Chaos magic is dangerous- a lot more dangerous than normal magic. And she hasn't used it that much either so it is still somewhat difficult to control. Chaos magic is painful for her to use- as you will see in upcoming chapters. It's more dangerous and raw than normal magic. It's a lot easier to burn out using it. Last time she used it for something big was on Polythemus' Island and she had the fleece and even then she felt shaky and unsteady.
Wisestriker: Well you can say that again.. though uh... hehe. You have to wait. And hopefully if my internet's working well enough I'll still be able to update somewhat regularly. At least I have the good laptop again lol.
Bianca was unimpressed. She wasn't sure how long she'd been stuck in the room- which was essentially a temporary holding cell in her case. She was pretty sure it had been overnight. Zoe had delivered her some food and water at least.
She'd taken the chance to explore the room- small, no windows. There wasn't even a chair- nothing that could be used as a weapon- she was pretty sure that it had been cleared out to make sure she didn't try anything. Which was extremely rude since she'd agreed to let herself be taken in and locked up whilst Chiron spoke to Dionysus. She considered shadow travelling back to Brooklyn House- or to somewhere else but... what would happen if someone noticed she was gone? They could assume the worst and that was the last thing they needed.
She hadn't slept of course- she'd considered it but she didn't know how long she'd be left waiting and she didn't want to risk being needed while she was asleep- she needed to be as alert as she could be. So she'd stayed awake, trying to distract herself, picking at her nails anxiously, chipping off the gel polish-Percy had done them for her before the dance, black and silver nails that had matched well with her dress.
It felt like a lifetime ago, they'd sat giggling and Bianca had felt so happy- light and airy as if she didn't have a care in the world. She'd felt loved and protected- the way she'd always tried so hard to make Nico feel. Finally she was being looked after not the other way around.
Now Percy was gone, probably in the hands of some crazy enemy and there was nothing she could do about it. So she'd decided to try and act as a peace keeper and even that wasn't going how she'd hoped it would.
She looked up when she heard the door creaking open, her brows furrowing as her gaze focused on a tall boy- no, she mentally corrected, her gaze focusing on the furry goats legs. A Satyr. He had curly brown hair, with spikey curled horns poking out of his head, and his eyes were kind in a way as he looked at Bianca.
He was wearing one of the orange tees that Thalia had been wearing. He blinked when he focused on her, "Oh- I expected-" he slipped into the room, closing the door, "The kids guarding the door are asleep I thought-"
"Thought what?" Bianca pushed herself to her feet, "Who are you?"
"Grover Underwood." the Satyr answered quickly, shifting from hoof to hoof. "I thought it might be Percy or Piper." he said those words lowly, as if worried someone would overhear. And Bianca's eyes widened, a smile spreading across her lips.
"Oh! You're the Satyr that Percy mentioned to me, the one who nearly married-"
"Oh come on." Grover groaned, "That's what she told you about me. Not how I totally helped save her life. That's just not fair."
Bianca felt some of her stress leaving her. "Percy can be like that. I'm Bianca."
"I overheard Thalia arguing with Zoe about you- the weird girl who had some sort of connection to Egypt and after what happened last summer I thought... I mean I figured I'd come and see what I could do, see if it was Percy or Piper maybe."
"Nope, Piper and Annabeth are visiting Annabeth's dad." that earned her a surprised look from Grover.
"Wait, seriously?" he shook his head, "That- is not something I thought would ever happen. But that's not important right now. Did Egyptian's really attack us?" there was an almost hurt look on Grover's face- but then from what Percy had said they'd gotten along well.
"No." Bianca told him, before launching into her story, telling Grover about the attack at the school, how they were pretty sure that Kronos and the Egyptian he was working with, whoever that might be, were working to try and cause a war between the two pantheons. Framing each of them for attacks on the other.
Grover took it seriously of course- a fact that Bianca did appreciate. He looked worried when Bianca told him about how Percy had been captured by someone, and once she was done explaining he leaned against the wall. "Okay. Okay this is bad." he let out a nervous bleating laugh, "What can I do? I don't-"
"They won't listen to me. They've not even come to talk to me. Apparently they're discussing what to do but if they don't give me a chance to explain I think we both know how it'll end." Bianca scowled, "But- can you maybe get me a phone." they might not listen to her but she knew someone they would listen to.
Annabeth had history here after all. And she and Piper would want to know what had happened to Percy.
"I don't think it's that they won't listen to you." Grover offered sympathetically. "Chiron and Mr. D. have been locked in Chiron's office for hours. I think they're trying to figure out what to do. This is big- like, crazy big and you know it."
"And they're not coming to talk to the person who knows what's going on." Bianca rolled her eyes. "How smart of them."
"Mr. D probably doesn't like the idea of trusting someone who openly said that they'd side with the Egyptians." Grover pointed out with a small smile, "Not that I blame you. I mean, from what I know you have a pretty sweet deal there. Though I am curious about how another Greek got involved with the Egyptians." the unspoken question made Bianca shift slightly.
"My dad and Percy's dad are friends." well. It wasn't the full truth but it was part of it. Hades and Osiris did get along- even if Bianca was pretty sure that Hades was closer to Percy than to Osiris. Honestly from what she'd seen Hades loved Percy just as much as he loved her and Nico. He had a soft spot for the Egyptian Underworld girl who had forced her way into his life.
The main difference was that openly showing affection for the daughter of Poseidon didn't actually break any of the ancient laws in the way that contacting Bianca and Nico would. It was less likely to be noticed. And even then he did what he could to look after them, sending them weapons and making sure they were taken care of. It was more than most of the gods did.
"Right." Grover nodded slowly, "Right. Well... I can totally get you a phone." he gave a short nod. "Of course I can. I uh- I'll go get one now." he paused. "Do you want anything else?"
"No, I'm fine for now." If she needed anything there were lots of shadows around, it wouldn't be difficult for her to deal with it if she did need anything, as long as she was careful not to tire herself out too much.
She watched as Grover ducked out, waiting patiently, passing the time by planning out what she would say once she got her hands on a phone.
Luckily it didn't take Grover long to return, and she accepted the phone he gave her quickly, pulling up the keypad and staring at it as she tried to focus. She'd seen the scrap of paper that Annabeth had given Sally with the Chase family number more than once. She just had to remember it.
She carefully dialled in the number, praying that she'd remembered it right as she pressed the phone to her ear as it rung.
If not she supposed she could shadow travel away and get it but that wouldn't help her win over the campers... if she got caught... but she was beginning to think that the risk might just be worth it.
Then the phone was answered. "Hello, this is Fredrick Chase speaking who-"
"Uh." Bianca didn't waste time, "My name is Bianca DiAngelo. I'm a friend of your daughter. Is there a chance I can talk to her please?"
"You-" the mans voice was startled, "You want to speak to Annabeth?"
"Yes please. I know she should still be with you."
"Yes, yes she is let me just-" there was a rustling sound, and then a distant call of "Annabeth!"
A few seconds later there was more rustling, more muffled voices and then the line was clearer again.
"Bianca is everything okay?"
"I guess you haven't been watching the news huh." Bianca's voice was shaky "It'll be all over it at the moment. The dance was attacked-"
"What?" the other girls voice was horrified, "Oh my gods- attacked? By who what happened? Is every- oh my gods Percy. Percy is Percy okay-"
"I-" Bianca felt her voice cracking. "I don't know the name of the girl who attacked. We think she was trying to set it up to look like the Greeks. And she sent people to attack your Camp. She wants the Greek and Egyptians to go to war-"
"Holy Hades." Annabeth's voice was breathless with horror. "You- they have to be working with Kronos. Is- you didn't answer... is... is Percy okay? Why are you calling why not Percy?" and Bianca was pretty sure she could hear Piper in the background, demanding to know what was going on. Bianca didn't blame her for that. The three girls were clearly hopelessly in love with one another. Even if Percy's obliviousness had caused it all to get messed up.
She could imagine just how devastated both of the girls were at the mere possibility of Percy not being okay.
"I don't know." Bianca's voice was small. "I- I was the last person to see her. She was being carried away over the back of some girl. She looked like she was knocked out or something-"
"No!" Annabeth's cry made Bianca flinch, made her own eyes fill with tears. "No she can't- someone's taken her?" and Piper was yelling in the background two, both trying to deny the reality of the situation.
Whoever had taken her wasn't likely to have good intentions.
After several long moments Annabeth managed to pull herself together enough to ask, "Where? Where did they take her? Who took her Bianca?"
"I don't know." she hated the words even as she said them. They felt like a failure. "I don't know. I came to Camp to stop the attack here and to try and gain their trust, undermine the enemies plans and maybe find out more about where she might have been taken."
"I-if it's connected to Kronos- a prophecy maybe." Annabeth's voice was uncertain. "Can you get a prophecy Bianca?"
"No. I let slip that I'm with the Egyptians and I've been informally locked up. I don't want to risk ruining the little good will I have and making things worse. Annabeth they're never going to be willing to listen to me. My loyalty lies with Percy and Brooklyn House. And I know yours does to. Yours and Pipers but-"
"But they know me." Annabeth's voice was suddenly grim. "We'll come. I'm sure we can get an urgent flight we should be able to be with you in the morning as long as we move quickly."
"I'll get someone to give up their tickets if they try to argue." Piper's words were clearer this time. Her voice serious.
"Oh thank gods." Bianca felt some of her tension leaking away as relief flooded through her. "Thank the gods. They've been discussing if they can trust me or not for hours and they haven't even come to visit me."
"How did you get the phone?" Annabeth sounded bemused. "And are you okay? You're not hurt?"
"A little tired from the journey and fighting off a bunch of rogue magicians but I'm not hurt. I'll be fine. As for how I got the phone, Grover overheard some girls talking about me and thought I might be Percy. I told him what's up and he got me a phone."
"Tell him thank you from me. And- just sit tight. We'll make getting you out of there our priority Bianca. I promise you."
