The Day of the Sports Festival

Garous pov

"Come on Come on we'll miss it." A girl says, dragging her boyfriend to the chairs. I manage to slip in unnoticed wearing a large hoodie and hat. I know I should be staying at the Shack recovering, but this could prove useful to me. I can't let this opportunity slide.

I finally arrive at my seat and wait for the Festival to begin. "This better be worth it." I say to myself. I just sat back and relax as the loud mouth, Present Mic, begins talking. "HEY! MAKE SOME NOISE ALL YOU RABID SPORTS FANS!" Present Mic yells, officially starting the festival.

"Get those cameras prepped, media horses! This year we're bringing you some of the hottest performances in sports festival history, guaranteed!" Present Mic yells. "I just got one question before we start this show: ARE YOU READY?!" Present Mic yells as the crowd screams in excitement. Tsk. I never really like the Sports Festivals. These people are willing to watch these kids beat each other to a pulp in order to get more attention. It is also so biased. The teachers purposefully put the hero course students up against students who, for example, are in the business course. They do this just to show off the hero course students abilities and over shadow those with so much potential.

"Let me hear you scream as our students make their way to the main stage!" Present Mic yells as Class 1-A walks to the main stage. Upon seeing them, I notice that about half of them are gone. They must've quit after the USJ. Guess the attack showed who were ready to become pros and those who were just in it for the fame.

"This first group is no stranger to the spotlight! You know them for surviving a villain attack- the dazzling students lighting up your TVs with solid gold skills! The Hero Course students of Class 1-A!" Present Mic yells as the crowd cheers for 1-A. My eyes then spot the little shit who ruined my fight with All Might. Deku, if that is even his real name.

"They haven't been getting nearly as much screen time, but this next group is still chock full of talent! Welcome hero course Class 1-B!" Present Mic announces as 1-B enters. Meh. They look alright, but nothing special. "Next up, general studies classes C, D, and E!" Present Mic announces. They don't seem that impressive, but that kid with purple hair looks like Eraserhead. "Support classes F, G, and H!" Present Mic announces. If the teachers wanted the support classes to show off inventions, then take them to an invention convention, not a fucking Sports Festival. "And finally, Business classes I, J, and K!" Present Mic finishes. Again, kids in business classes should not be involved in a festival all about fighting.

"Now the introductory speech!" A female voice announces as I look to the middle of the arena and see the Rated-R hero, Midnight. "...Why the hell did they let someone like her be an announcer?!" I quietly yell so no one hears me. I see all the other people watching and I see them drool at the sight of MidNight. Perverts.

"Silence everyone!" Midnight yells as the crowd shuts up. "And for the student pledge, we have Katsuki Bakugou!" Midnight announces as the Pomeranian from the USJ walks to the stage. So, Katsuki Bakugou is his name? Fitting for a pomeranian. Bakugou walks to the mic and says, "I'm just gonna say…I'm gonna win." Bakugou says, uncaring….Really? They let an egotistical kid into UA? How the mighty have fallen.

The crowd and the other students start to boo him. He deserves it. "Without further ado, it's time for us to get started!" Midnight announces. "This is where you'll begin feeling the pain. The first fateful game of the festival!" Midnight yells as a hologram of a wheel with games appears behind her, rolling to choose a random game. "Obstacle Course!" Midnight announces.

"All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous contest. The track is four kilometers around the outside of the stadium. I don't wanna restrain anyone, at least in this game. As long as you don't leave the course you're free to do whatever your heart desires!" Midnight says, licking her lips and saying it in a seductive voice. What. The. FUCK?!

At the starting line

Midoriya's pov

"Now then, take your places, contestants!" Midnight orders as we all get ready to run. I have to win this. This is my moment to show the world that I am here. I have to be smart about this. I'm still not able to control One for All yet. So, I have to be careful when I use it. That means I have to go beyond. I hope you're watching, All Might!

The light turns green and we all try to run through the short hallway. "And we're off to the racing start! How about some commentary, Mummy Man?" Present Mic asks Aizawa since he's sitting in the booth with Present Mic, so we can hear them. "What should we be paying attention to in the early stages of the race?" Present Mic asks. "The doorway." Aizawa says as I try to squeeze through the students stuck in the doorway. Suddenly, the entire area gets cold as our feet get covered in ice. It must be Todoroki! I look and see him running ahead of us. However, Yaoyurozu, Kacchan, and Kirishima manage to jump, and or fly, over the ice. "I won't let you get away so easily! You icy-hot bastard!" Kacchan yells, propelling himself forwards with his explosions.

I and many others try to run over the ice without slipping, but that's easier said than done. Another student tries to attack Todoroki, but gets slapped away by a giant metal hand. I see giant 0-pointers from the Entrance Exam. Not these things again! "Oh! Enemies have shown up out of nowhere! I bet we're in for a treat here! A test of strength and cunning! It's robo inferno!" Present Mic yells over the mic.

Garou's pov

Are these teachers insane?! Sure, some of the hero course kids fought these things, but those who aren't in the hero course are so screwed. Again proving that these games are just to show off the hero course students and use the rest as practice dummies.

The Todoroki kid uses his ice quirk to freeze over the robots and stop them in their place. As Todoroki runs through the legs of the robots, the other students try to follow him. However, I noticed that he froze the robots off balance on purpose, so that they could fall over and create a wall. Todoroki is kind of an ass, but he sure is strong. "That's Todoroki from Class 1-A pulling ahead to an early lead with a devastating display! Amazing! He's one we should watch!" Present Mic yells.

"His attack was both offensive and defensive." Eraserhead explains. "No wonder he was let in on recommendations! He'd never even fought those Robo Infernos before, but they didn't stand a chance against his chart-topping moves!" Present Mic yells. His…what?

Midoriya's pov

"Hey, there's someone trapped under that robot!" A student yells. However, we hear banging noises and Kirishima bursts from the robot. "I'M ALIVE!" Kirishima yells. "Todoroki, I can't believe you pulled something like that! Anyone but me would've been killed!" Kirshima yells.

As I prepare to run again, Kacchan uses his explosions to fly over the robots. Many of the others use their quirks to fly over the robots with ease. Damn it! I'm falling far behind. And I can't rely on One for All this early in the competition. I dodge a punch from a robot and I see a piece of the robot Todoroki knocked down. Thinking quickly, I grab the piece of metal and swing it at the robot, slicing its arm off. Run! Keep going!

I'll keep this and use it as a shield if I need to. I see more robots ahead, but they're taken down by explosives. I turn to see Yaouyrozu with her shirt unbuttoned and standing next to a cannon. She must have made that with her quirk. "For those of you who thought the first obstacle was easy, let's see how you think about the second one!" Present Mic yells. Huh? What does he…mean?

I arrive at the second obstacle and see a large canyon with strings attached to it. "If they take a spill, they're out! If they want to pass this test, they'll have to get creative! It's the Fall!" Present Mic announces. "How did they have time to build something like this?" Uraraka asks. Tsu then walks by us and jumps on the strings. "This is my moment! Easy peasy." Tsu says. Of course someone with a frog quirk is going to breeze through this.

"Finally, this is my chance to show off what I can do! My support items are gonna steal the spotlight from these wanna be heroes. Everyone! Observe what my brilliant gadgets can do!" A girl covered in tech yells. "How come you got to bring all that stuff?!" Mina asks. "Students in the hero course get all kinds of combat training for their quirks. In order to keep things fair and give us a fighting chance,we're allowed to bring any costumes and gear we want, so long as we make them ourselves. So sit back and enjoy the show!" The tech girl yells as she fires a harpoon out and uses hover boots to fly through the canyon.

"Talk about annoying." Mina says. Looks like I have to do this the hard way. As I crawl on the lines, the large piece of metal I tied to my back starts to weigh me down. I want to get rid of this so bad, but I may need it later!

As I approach the final obstacle, Present Mic announces, "And now, the last obstacle. Everyone better tread carefully, cause you're stepping into a minefield!" A what?! "If you look carefully, you can see where the bombs are buried, so keep your eyes on the ground folks." Present Mic explains. "By the way folks, those land mines were designed for the games, so they may be loud and flashy, but they're not that powerful. Just enough to make you wet your pants!" Present Mic yells.

Someone has already made it to the final obstacle? Come on! Faster! I can do this. Suddenly, two land mines go off and send two students flying. Holy crap! I then see Kacchan flying towards Todoroki, using his explosions to propel himself forward. "Bastard! Your declaration of war was to the wrong person!" Kacchan yells as he tries to blow Todoroki away. Crap! They're so far ahead! But—"NO! This isn't over yet!" I yell as I get an idea.

If I use the piece of metal to cover myself and jump on the mines, then they'll launch me forward. Like Kacchan is using his explosions to propel himself forward. I jump on the mines and a massive explosion sends me flying towards the front. "Whatever just happened, Class 1-A, Izuku Midoriya is suddenly in hot pursuit of first place!" Present Mic yells.

I manage to look up and I see that I have passed Todoroki and Kacchan. I did it! Just like I planned! But there was more force than I expected and…I didn't think about how I was gonna land! "Deku! What the hell do you think you're doing?!" I hear Kacchan yell from behind me. I see ice form ahead of me, so that means Todoroki is ice skating across the ground to reach me.

Oh no. I'm losing speed! I start to slowly descend to the ground. This is bad! They'll get ahead of me again. If I don't time this landing right, there's no way I'll be able to keep the lead. I just…have to hold on and keep going! I have a chance here! I have to reach out and take it! The only way to stay ahead is to hit another mine. I can take them out quickly! I can show the world who I am!

I swing the piece of metal I had and hit another mine. The blast sends Kacchan and Todoroki flying away, while I get sent forward. I finally hit the ground and without thinking twice, I run as fast as I can. Come on! COME ON! I run down the doorway and I pass the finish line. "IZUKU MIDORIYA IS OUR CHAMPION!" Present Mic announces as the stadium cheers for me. I did it. I DID IT!

Garou's pov

"Heh, not bad kid." I say to myself. The kid may have been the one to cost me my fight with All Might, but he sure is determined. I'll give him that. Finally, all the students make it, with only 42 students making it. Most of them are part of the Hero course.

"Now that the obstacle course is over it's time for the second event." Midnight announces as she spins the wheel. "The next challenge is the Cavalry Battle." Midnight announces as the wheel finally stops. "The rules are that there will be groups of four. Each group will have their formation like this. One person on the top and three of them on the bottom. The goal is to get as many points as you can, which will be headbands. The amount of points you get will be based on the place you got in the Obstacle Course." Midnight explains. "The one who is in first place will have a number of…Ten million points!" Midnight says.

"What?" I ask myself.

Midoriya's pov

"What?" I say out loud. "That's right, it's survival of the fittest with a chance for those at the bottom to overthrow the top." She says with a smirk as everyone looks at me menacingly. Maybe getting first was a bad idea.

Garou's pov

He's fucked.
