Tomorrow (eighth day after collapse)

Among one of the many conversations that the Jedi council had, they came to the conclusion of who might have some clue as to what the Chancellor is up to.

Without a doubt it was Sate Pestage, one of Palpatine's advisors in the government and his trusted man.

"We must interrogate Sate Pestage as soon as possible, I feel that he can give us some clue to all this" Obiwan said along with other Jedi masters.

They went as soon as possible, so as not to attract attention, it helped them that the senate still believed that Chancellor Palpatine was still in separatist hands.

When they arrived at the cell where he had been arrested. A Jedi knight reported that they could not open the cell and when they did they found the Chancellor's advisor in blood. It was clear that the man wanted to make an attempt on his own life.

Mace Windu checked on him along with Agen Kolar, he was still alive, but not by much due to blood loss.

All the Jedi masters present felt, through the force, that Pestage was hiding something very important. A secret that was more than clear that Pestage did not want them to discover.

Senate building

Coruscant

In the Senate, the deliberations were more intense due to the absence of Chancellor Palpatine, and Senator Amidala's proposal to vote again did not seem good to them, it could cause a major problem in the galactic order.

"If the separatists have the Chancellor, we will have to pay a ransom or negotiate with them," proposed Senator Fernab Farb.

As the entire place became a sea of chaos and fear... an internal crisis could be even worse.

"We must do something... we must contact the separatist leaders directly for a direct negotiation" proposed the senator from Orn Free Taa.

All the senators present were surprised at that. The senator's idea was perhaps to accede to some requests from the separatists to save Palpatine.

Some did not know what to do, but most senators accepted Senator Orn Free Taa's request.

Republic 500

Coruscant

In her residence, Padme was actually somewhat alarmed. What Anakin had informed him about the connection with him Chancellor.

She had been alarmed, especially by his strange, aggressive behavior... that he had shown yesterday.

"Master Padme, Master Obi-wan has arrived," C-P03 said, handing the Jedi master over.

"What did you want to talk to me about, Padme?" Obi-wan asked, seeing that Padme was alarmed.

"Obi-wan, you must help Anakin, I feel that he is in danger... yesterday he acted aggressively... he is not feeling well" Padme said, worried about her husband. "Obi-wan...please help Anakin, I fear for him or what I happened to him."

"I was also afraid for him, Padme... many things are happening, we are walking down a dangerous path."

Padme with an expression of doubt and fear "what's wrong Obi-wan?"

"Nothing for now, but you have to be careful... I'll take care of Anakin, don't worry." Obi-wan left Padme with more peace of mind but still had a greater doubt.

Afternoon (eighth day after collapse)

Anakin had hoped that Palpatine would turn to the light side, but there was only a rage in Sidious's mind, growing ever stronger as the light side tried to claim him.

Sidious still couldn't believe the circumstances he found himself in.

The door opened and it was Anakin, and Sidious continued his charade of wanting to change, he didn't like it but he had to do it anyway.

"How are you Chancellor?"

"Better... I think the last thing we did helped me a lot." He lied but he noticed something interesting about Anakin, he wasn't feeling very well. "Anakin… What's wrong with you? Why do you feel bad? I know you well enough to notice that something is affecting you."

Anakin shook his head "she's nothing...she's just my wife."

"Your wife... did something happen to her?"

"I…I had an argument with her, quite loud."

"Why don't you tell me, maybe you'll feel better... Anakin, I trusted you again, now trust me."

Anakin sat next to Palpatine and told him the entire conversation he had with Padme yesterday.

About how Padme had gotten upset with him, and his overconfidence with Palpatine.

Palpatine smiled to himself, he would use the difference between them, for his own benefit. "Anakin... can I ask you something?"

"Of course Chancellor, tell me."

Sidious took a moment and said "Anakin I know you love your wife but... but have you never doubted her?"

Anakin was speechless at the idea of Sidious, he had never doubted her, but his thoughts were already clouded.

"Do you think she would sacrifice herself for you? Look at you... you have exposed yourself to so many things and she only reproaches you. You are helping me to change and everyone still distrusts you, even your wife, your friend Kenobi and the others. "You want to change me for the better, but everyone hesitates."

Anakin flatly denied, he didn't want to doubt her or anyone. The different exercises in the force that he taught Palpatine, such as meditation, would make the darkness go away.

Anakin knew that there was great hope in Palpatine to save his soul.

The anger and hatred was increasingly intense, at the same time that the light demanded him to join, at the same time that the darkness held him back.

That ironically gave him peace in his being, he would never change, especially at this point when he was about to be Emperor.

Anakin saw it once more, and maintained a submissive and weak appearance so he could continue his deception.

Anakin saw him and said "Chancellor... I have hope that I can cure you, I know I can, especially now that you want it."

Palpatine adopted a smile that on the inside was fake "If... you don't know what my life has been like Anakin... if only you had helped me or someone else when I was young" he said falsely once again.

Sitting next to him, Anakin began to tell him how they should proceed from now on. But he interrupted him, "Anakin, why don't you tell me exactly what you did to me. So maybe I can cure myself of this darkness inside me."

Anakin thought for a moment and explained how he transferred into his soul, through their bond in the force, all those good emotions and feelings to drown out the dark side and save his soul.

"Anakin, where did you get that method?" Palpatine asked curiously.

"From a Jedi temple holocron, Chancellor Palpatine."

Sidious didn't say anything, he stayed silent for a moment meditating, analyzing the situation. He never believed that a cure to return from the path of darkness was possible, that something like this was possible.

Anakin began to give him one more lesson on how to control those feelings of darkness.

Palpatine was very repulsed to continue with it, anger was something that suffocated him linked to the light that called him.

The meditation session continued, and Palpatine felt something in his soul, a strange feeling of peace and relief, one that he had not had so many years ago.

Suddenly surprised and frightened, Sidious felt for a moment that the darkness was leaving his being, and it was undoubtedly something he did not like at all. He had been scared by the fact that what Anakin did could already have serious effects on him.

"Very good Chancellor... it seems that it is already working on you. I felt like the dark side was leaving your being" Anakin said with joy that his friend and mentor would once again be the person he knew and admired, it filled him with happiness.

"Anakin, it's better that I continue later, that had an effect on me, but it weakened me, I need to rest" Palpatine said feigning tiredness, sitting up little by little.

"Okay, I'll let him rest" Anakin said before leaving.

As soon as Anakin left, Palpatine erupted in total fury. He had to do something about it, this light was already causing something in him. But the doubt he imposed on Skywalker's mind was already working, he knew that Anakin would sooner or later fall into his hands.

In the hidden facilities of the Jedi Temple, Obi-wan was reviewing some of the holocrons he kept there and accessing them. Hoping to find a way to save Padme from possible death.

I was more afraid of what might happen from now on. Among all the information he found, there was something interesting. Something that would serve to save Padme, something that involves the dyad.

But Obi-wan feared, in what he found he said that the dyad was a union that involved not only force, but life itself.

The method was that part of their life essence could be transferred to a person, without causing any harm to any of the force users who shared the bond, but strengthening the couple's connection. That life that was transferred could even prevent life itself.

That gave him relief, about Padme's life, he didn't want her to die either, but at the same time, by doing so the two people became closer together with their knowledge, making Anakin become more and more infected with the dark side.

He didn't like the idea of losing his friend. But he had no choice, it was that or condemn Padme and the future baby that was going to be born.

Obi-wan found a way to save Padme, but it would involve a very big sacrifice.
