Chapter 31: Draco and Jasper

As Hailey left the Cullen House Jasper was thinking about what he could do to help the family out and began thinking, "I think that if I am going to help them I need to go see Draco and start teaching him about how to defend himself and protect his sister after all I think that the calm she feels right now is merely the calm before the storm and it will hit and when it does she is going to struggle with it." At that Jasper jumped from his and Alice's bedroom window and sprinted the distance to go and talk to Draco.

Upon arriving at the house Jasper knocked slightly on the door and within two raps on the door it was opened by Draco who said, "Jasper what are you doing here if you are looking for Alice, she is not here but I will let her know you came by." Jasper smiled and said, "actually I am here for you Draco I am wanting to do some training and exercise and I thought that you might want to join me."

Draco was shocked and surprised and said, "OK sure I would love too but I don't know any of the things that you can do, and I might just slow you down." Jasper nodded and said, "then how about I teach you and then we can work on it and who knows you might even enjoy this."

Draco looked slightly unsure of himself and thought about what he knew of Jasper and said, "um Jasper not to sound stupid but I mean Emmett is big and all, so he has been in fights a few times I am sure, but have you ever even fought anybody other than Alice?" Jasper merely shrugged and said, "well I have been in a few scrapes in my life and while I may not be as experienced as Emmett might appear to be I am sure I can teach you a few things." Jasper said smiling evilly.

Over the next few hours Draco learned that size meant nothing and though he was immortal that did not mean that he could not feel pain after a particularly painful throw by Jasper; Draco slowly rose from the ground and began limping back to the other vampire thinking, "man he is kicking my ass. I have not even landed a single blow on him, and he is supposed to be the weakest of the Cullen boys." As Draco stepped back up to face Jasper, he got into a fighting stance and eyed the other guy when they heard Edward approaching and turned to see Edward and Katherine step into the clearing.

At seeing the state of Draco who looked like he had gone 15 rounds with Mike Tyson Katherine started to laugh, and it was not just laughing she was cackling like a hyena seeing Draco so disheveled and looking beaten to a pulp.

Edward smiled slightly and said, "Draco can I ask why you thought it was a good idea to train and fight Jasper?" Draco huffing and puffing and standing with his hands on his knees took a moment and said, "OK I thought that seeing as Jasper is the weakest of you guys, he would be a good starting opponent." Hearing this Katherine who had finally stopped laughing at Draco redoubled her laughter and was at this point pounding her fist on the ground as she cackled at Draco.

Draco looked between everybody and said, "am I missing something?" Edward shook his head and said, "OK I am sorry to tell you this, but Jasper is actually the most skilled fighter of all of us. He is ruthless at its Draco, and the fact that you clearly have lost shows that, and if you have not landed a blow on him, it might be best if you start with somebody a good deal weaker than Jasper."

Draco was slack jawed at hearing this and after a moment or two he finally mustered words to say, "who should I fight or train with?"

Katherine finally having stopped laughing said, "well you can always train with me. I may not be as well trained as my brother Jasper, but I think that I can help you, but if you want somebody of the guys to train with you might try Edward, he is going to be faster than Jasper or Emmett, but he is less of a combat expert than Jasper."

Jasper chose the moment to speak and said, "that might be a good idea after all as Edward is your sister's mate Draco it might be a good idea for me to ask as a teacher and have you to fight together so that you both can act as protection for her." Jasper then said, "after all I mean your sister is kind of petite and is going to need some very strong boys and men to protect her and keep her safe from the outside world, and especially the perverted boys in the town of Forks."

Draco thought and then remembered a time when his sister was swatted on the butt and how she responded, and it brought a smile to his face.

Flashback:

Hailey was walking down the hall at Hogwarts with Hermione and Lavender when one of the boys decided to have a bit of sport with her.

Draco happened to be walking toward the girls when he saw the boy run up and slap his sister on her butt, and at first seeing this he started to make a beeline to the boy to deal with him, however at that moment his sister turned around, and punched the boy square in the face and kicked him between the legs.

Draco slack-jawed merely smiled as the boy lay groaning on the ground as the girls went on about their day. As Draco drew level he knelt and said, "FYI you might not want to do that with her again I mean she is not some damsel in distress she is about as tough as they come, and she is not afraid to kick some ass of someone other than You-Know-Who."

The boy merely nodded and cried a little at this and continued to lay there even after Draco had walked off.

End Flashback:

Even as Draco remembered this time he kept smiling and said, "Jasper do you mean to imply my sister is weak or scared of her own shadow?"

Jasper shrugged and said, "I mean that I am sure she is capable of some impressive things, but she is a girl, and most girls cannot fight and should not have to fight." Draco nodded and said, "I agree that they should not have to fight but my sister is extremely good at fighting she is not some weak little girl who needs me to fight her battles as her brother I am there to try and help take some of the burden off her, but when the fight occurs, she is just as skilled as any man could be. In fact, my sister is proficient at boxing and martial arts, and she told me that if she is ever in a fight where she is weaponless, she wants to give some measure of pain to the opponent."

Jasper smiled at the thought of a girl who was as tall as his beloved Alice being that good at fighting, and said "why did she feel such desire I mean where were you to where she needed to fight without the support of her own brother?" Draco smiled ruefully and said, "well when it all began I did not know I was her brother we were fierce rivals I saw her as an insufferable bitch and I hated her guts and I wanted to see her suffer and die."

Jasper was about to strike Draco when Draco said, "but then something happened she showed her kindness and strength and compassion to those that had hurt her and tried to kill her. You know the man that betrayed our mom and James Potter was a friend of theirs and when faced with the thought of having him killed or killing him herself she chose to be merciful and tried to hand him over to the proper authorities. When I learned what my sister had gone through at our Aunt and Uncle's and everything that they did to her and everything she went through in school I wanted to help her and protect her as much as I can it started to bring the two of us closer together and I now love my sister."

Jasper smiled and said, "OK so we need to get you stronger so you can protect her." Draco said "yes, but I also want to protect my family and my friends, and I am not going to hide behind my little sister next time there is danger coming at her I am going to be right there in the thick of it and I am going to be an asset just like she is."

Draco nodded deep in thought and said, "OK but just to be clear I think it should be Edward not Katherine. I am sure I can learn a lot from her, but I am spending time with her learning from her, and I need to learn from somebody else and I need some guy time." Katherine nodded to this and smiled to her brothers and said, "OK you guys have fun I am going to head home and wait until Alice get home with Hailey, and you should know that Draco Alice is a professional shopper so you are going to need to be home when your sister gets home because they will have a truck load."
