Chapter 343: Arc 18: Luffy's Peak - Attained! Gear 5

Sometime later, Yamato had also arrived on the roof of Onigashima. "Where are you?" she demanded, looking around at the pretty much leveled battleground. Her ears picking up the sounds of fighting, she dashed towards the fight, only to see Sasha beaten back by Kaido while defending the unconscious Luffy. "Kaido!" she barked.

"It's 'Father' to you." Kaido glared at his daughter. "Yamato."

"I'm here to cut ties with you." Yamato declared, jumping in between the siblings and her father.

"So, you came to cut ties between father and son." Kaido noted and took on his 'Full Beast' form. "That's laughable. What do you have? These two are already battered and Momonosuke has fallen into the sea. If you have the will to fight, you should've protected what you needed to."

"Neither Luffy nor Momonosuke is the one I needed to protect." Yamato retorted. "They're the ones I fight alongside. They're the ones who will take you down and lead Wano to its dawn."

"You snot-nosed brat." Kaido snarled. "And you gonna cut ties and get out of here?"

"Yeah." Yamato nodded. "I'm gonna set out to sea with the Straw Hats, after I kick you out of this country, Kaido."

"Kick me out?" Kaido echoed.

"That's right." Yamato retorted. "You can pirate elsewhere."

Enraged, Kaido engulfed himself in a tornado of his Flame Clouds "It can't be elsewhere, Yamato." he reverted back to his 'Human-Beast' form. "I'm staying here because this is Wano. There's no way you can beat me. Become the Shogun of Wano, Yamato."

"I refuse." Yamato stood her ground. "I know I can't beat you. But Luffy is the man Kozuki Oden was waiting for. Until he recovers, I'm gonna keep you here."

"Don't expect me to go easy on you." Hybrid!Kaido cautioned. "Yamato!"

In an unison war cry, both parent and child clashed.

"Yamato." Hybrid!Kaido roared, parrying Yamato off. "You're strong. Become the Shogun for me without resistance; you better listen to your parent. Flex your strength all you want as the Shogun of Wano. Dominate everything and do as you will."

"I won't dominate anything." Yamato insisted. "I won't be dominated, either."

"What a pain." Hybrid!Kaido sighed. "They all died; all of those who said something like that."

"I know Luffy will return." Yamato declared. "Until then, I'm gonna stall you." she jumped to strike Hybrid!Kaido, only to be hit back.

"You don't know what's right and what's wrong." Hybrid!Kaido rebuked.

"I'm Oden." Yamato stood back up. "I'm gonna defend Wano." letting lightning strike her kanabo, she morphed into her Human-Beast form.

"Protect Wano for me." Hybrid!Kaido continued clashing with Yamato. "I recognize you as part of our force, Yamato."

"Parents don't say that to their child." Hybrid!Yamato snarled.

"That Devil Fruit was hard-earned and I wasn't gonna let you eat it." Hybrid!Kaido reminded.

"I was hungry." Hybrid!Yamato spat. "I was shocked, too. I wanna go out to sea, but now I can't swim. I attempted to kill you countless times and I've been stuck down countless times. I became stronger thanks to you. What kept me on the island wasn't those handcuffs. If I don't fight for this country, I can't call myself Oden."

"Dog-Dog Fruit." Hybrid!Kaido growled. "Mythical Type: Mode Okuchi no Makami. It's a valuable Mythical Fruit Type. It's a guardian deity of Wano. I can't believe it was eaten by someone who calls himself Oden. It's nothing but a blunder." he clashed with Hybrid!Yamato again. "That's why I'm telling you. Protect Wano for me; as a guardian deity."

"That's not what I want." Hybrid!Yamato snapped.

"Orochi had a talent of manipulation." Hybrid!Kaido droned, still fending off Hybrid!Yamato's assault effortlessly. "This country is a weapon factory. Dominate it by forcing its people to labor."

"I'm Kozuki Oden." Hybrid!Yamato insisted. Placing Takeru aside, she focused her ice powers. "I'll open the borders of Wano. I'll free them. The samurai and this country will be unleashed on the world." she summoned forth numerous icicles and flung them at Hybrid!Kaido.

"Bolo Breath!" Hybrid!Kaido countered.

"Namuji Glacier Fang!" Hybrid!Yamato fired off her own breath attack.

"I won't let you open the borders." Hybrid!Kaido swore. "That was a good one." he praised. "You got much stronger, Yamato. Your efforts are futile."

"Kaido, you won't drive me to despair anymore." Yamato snapped. "All I can see is hope now. Narikabura Arrow!" she fired off a blast of icy energy, Hybrid!Kaido merely swatting the attack away.

"Vajra Arrow!" Hybrid!Kaido countered with an attack of his own, the backlash knocking Yamato into a cliff. "You have to understand already that you can't become Oden."

"You've always tried to kill me." Yamato snarled.

"I have." Hybrid!Kaido agreed. "This isn't a family quarrel. If you wanna identify yourself as Oden, you gotta be prepared for a war. This isn't a game."

"Admiring someone is a sin?" Yamato demanded. "I love Oden. Why do you want to take away my freedom?" she renewed her fight against Hybrid!Kaido. "And the freedom of Wano?"

"Life isn't a series of simple questions and answers." Hybrid!Kaido fired back.

"Thunder Bagua!" both parent and child unleashed their attacks at each other.

"We made it..." the fully-grown dragon Momonosuke arrived to the top of Onigashima with Shinobu in tow.

"You are..." Sasha blinked. "Momo?"

"Indeed." Dragon!Momonosuke responded.

"It's my Ripe-Ripe Jutsu." Shinobu wept. "At Momonosuke-sama's request, I made him a 28-year-old."

"And why are you crying?" Sasha wondered.

"Because..." Shinobu sobbed, recalling how much the grown-up Momonosuke resembled Oden.

"Mirror Mountain." Yamato muttered, using the defensive ability of her Devil Fruit to take on the attack.

"You defended yourself." Hybrid!Kaido realized.

"I'm not gonna die." Yamato promised. "I can't die right now. Hallowed Glacier Slash!" she leapt into the air, gathering ice around Takeru and struck down on Hybrid!Kaido.

"You look like you're entirely part of Wano and you're challenging me." Hybrid!Kaido fumed. "Yamato, you're an oni's child. You're Kaido's son and you have my blood in your veins. You can't get away from that fact. You're taking on something on your own, but none of the samurai who came here think of you as an ally." he snarled, slamming Hassaikai at Yamato.

"This has nothing to do with how I feel." Yamato retorted, fending with Takeru.

"You don't have any friends." Hybrid!Kaido taunted. "You've been living on this island all alone. Running around the island, crawling into ceilings. You've been alone all your life."

"I have friends." Yamato declared.

"Like those samurai." Hybrid!Kaido smirked. "All the people who are good to you are dead."

"They didn't just die." Yamato spat. "You killed them."

"They got in the way of me educating my child." Hybrid!Kaido retorted. "They deserved it. You should know better by now." he charged forward and smacked Yamato away. "You don't have any friends. Even if you think those people from Wano are your allies, the relationship is superficial. They'll all be afraid of you. You must rule over people by force because you're an oni's child. You can't become friendly with humans. That's your fate." he continued hitting Yamato.

"I can't let it end like this." Yamato swore, getting back to her feet. "Divine Swiftness..."

"Gear Fourth..." Luffy had also regained his strength back. "Snake-Man. Gomu Gomu no..."

"White Serpent!" Yamato charged forward, letting loose a serpent-like energy streak.

"Jet Culverin!" Luffy shot towards Kaido in a complex pattern.

The combined attack hit Kaido head-on, knocking him back through several cliffs.

"Who is that dragon" Dragon!Kaido demanded. "Give me your name."

"My name is Kozuki Momonosuke." Momo retorted, recalling how Kaidou had mocked his late father. "I am the one who will become the Shogun of Wano."

"How surprising." Dragon!Kaidou was amused. "You're that brat. But this world is not big enough for two dragons." charging up a 'Bolo Breath' fireball, he fired the attack at Dragon!Momo and forcing said pink dragon to dodge the continuous attacks.

"Momo, bite Kaido." Luffy instructed. "Gear Third." shooting up into the air, he pulled back his enlarged fiset. "Gomu Gomu no Elephant Gun!" he slammed his fist on Dragon!Kaidou's nose, sending him to the ground.

His fury renewed when he remembered Kaidou smacking his mother away in the burning castle, Dragon!Momo circled around Dragon!Kaidou and sank his teeth onto the bigger dragon's body.

"You're only a puppet." the unfazed Dragon!Kaidou sneered. "Don't butt in."

"I am not anyone's puppet." Dragon!Momo fired back. "I can't forgive you. You messed up Wano. If it weren't for you... Kaidou!"

"Get away, Momonosuke!" Yamato warned, seeing Dragon!Kaidou about to fire a 'Bolo Breath' at the other dragon.

Luffy jumped in, punching Dragon!Kaidou away before he could fire his attack.

"Momo, go." Sasha instructed. "You can fly. Go stop Onigashima. Leave Kaidou to the two of us."

Turning back into his hybrid form, Kaidou faced off against the two siblings, giving Dragon!Momo the opening he needed to get out. "Is there any chance you two can beat me?"

"As long as we live, there are infinite chances." Luffy replied, infusing his entire body with Armament Haki. He slammed his charged fist at Hybrid!Kaidou's kanabo, the shockwave tearing the ground apart and causing the night sky to clear.

"Yamato." Sasha tossed a recovery pill to Yamato. "Go help Momo."

"Yamato, Momonosuke." Hybrid!Kaidou dashed towards the two. "Where are you going? Wano is finished. Give it up, Yamato." he clashed with his child.

"Screw you." Yamato snarled. "The dawn of Wano will break soon."

Luffy attacked Hybrid!Kaidou from the back, using his outstretched leg to stop Hybrid!Kaidou and allowing Dragon!Momo and Yamato to jump off the island.

Under Yamato's instructions, Dragon!Momo created fiery clouds under his claws.

"If you two lose, everyone in this country will be a slave." Hybrid!Kaidou reminded. "They'll have to live for me and die for me. This island will land on the Flower Capital. We'll destroy Flower Captial and Wano will become a pirate empire called New Onigashima. That's why you two must die here."

With that declaration, Hybrid!Kaidou renewed his fight with the siblings.

"Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk!" Luffy countered Hybrid!Kaidou's energy beam with an Armament Haki-infused punch. "Gomu Gomu no..." he readied his next attack as Hybrid!Kaidou' raised his kanabo, only to have Sasha block off the attack with her Abyssal Salvation Armor. "Gomu Gomu no..." he shot back into the fight, landing a kick on the kanabo.

Hybrid!Kaidou flung the siblings off and raised his weapon once more, striking Luffy on the head.

"Gear Third." Luffy leapt into the air. "Gomu Gomu no..."

"I'm siick of hearing Gomu Gomu." Hybrid!Kaidou growled.

"Roc Gun!" Luffy slammed his enlarged fist on Hybrid!Kaidou's face.

"Water Lock." Sasha brought the panting Luffy to her side in a water bubble.

"Gear Fourth." regaining his breath, Luffy wasted no time in activating his next attack. "Snake-Man." he threw three consecutive punches at Hybrid!Kaidou's face. "Gomu Gomu no Hydra!" he threw his flurry of punches at Hybrid!Kaidou. "I don't care what kind of ambition you guys have. I just know that'll make the people of this country starve even more than now. This is my final Gear Fourth. I won't stop attacking until I run out of energy. Gomu Gomu no King Cobra!" after letting loose another wave of punches, he fired off a long-range punch at Hybrid!Kaidou who used his kanabo to block the strike. Not willing to lose his momentum, Luffy continued his assault.

"Please stop." Hybrid!Kaidou went into drunk begger mode.

"Are you still drunk?" Luffy snapped.

"Don't think you're the only one who can predict what coming." Hybrid!Kaidou hiccupped. "Let me copy your attack." he reverted to his dragon form and weaved through the rapid punches. Opening his mouth, he proceeded to swallow Luffy in one gulp. Taking to the sky, he let Luffy out from his mouth and powered up a 'Bolo Breath', the energy beam sending Luffy straight through the entirely of Onigashima.

"Bounce-Man." Luffy freed himself from the energy beam before he hit the ocean below. "I'm pretty much beaten up." he shot back into the fight. "This is my final Gear Fourth." he dodged Dragon!Kaidou's barrage of 'Bolo Breath' and headed straight to his opponent. "I don't have much time left."

"It's more troublesome than I thought." Dragon!Kaidou admitted. "That Gum power."

"I'll overcome it with my spirit." Luffy declared. "I've got to take you down, no matter what. Gomu Gomu no Over-Kong Gun!" he slammed his oversized fist straight at Dragon!Kaidou's face. Landing on the ground, he charged towards the fallen Dragon!Kaidou to deliver the final blow.

"Thunder Bellow Bagua!" Kaidou, in blood-thirsty mode, smacked the incoming Luffy away with his kanabo.

"One more shot." Luffy powered up again.

"Bring it on, brat." Hybrid!Kaidou roared.

"Gomu Gomu no..." Luffy shot towards Hybrid!Kaidou.

"Droplet Spear!" Sasha's triple spearing water streams drilled through the incoming Guernica's body, taking him out.

Hybrid!Kaidou wheezed for breath, his kanabo strike having landed a critical hit on the exhausted Luffy and forcing the younger pirate out of his Gear Fourth form.

"Ex-quip: Abyssal Salvation." Sasha donned her heavy-hitter armor, the back of her mind registered a heavy pulse emitting from her unconscious brother as Luffy morphed into his Gear Fifth form.

"What happened to me?" Luffy muttered, bounced back into consciousness. "How come I can still stand up?" he staggered back to his feet. "This is getting fun." he grinned, letting loose a wave of Conqueror's Haki. "I can do everything I want." he started bouncing about. "I think I can fight a little bit more. My heartbeat sounds funny. This is my peak. Gear Fifth!" he let his Conqueror's Haki rampage.

"That form..." Sasha turned to the full moon, Luffy's shadow was illuminated by the moonlight. "I see... the Gomu Gomu Fruit's real name is the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika. That means... is it really you, Nika-nii-sama?"

Jumping right in front of Dragon!Kaidou, Nika!Luffy bulked up and punched Dragon!Kaidou's snout. Not relenting, he grabbed onto Dragon!Kaidou's body. "Here we go." he swung Dragon!Kaidou around before slamming the Yonkou onto the ground repeatedly.

"Straw Hat." Dragon!Kaidou growled. "You're alive. Bolo Breath!" he wasted no time in firing off his attack at his revived opponent.

Using his newfound rubber powers, Nika!Luffy anchored his hands into the ground, giving the earth a rubber-like characteristic. "Go get him." he pulled the rubbery earth up to create a barrier to reflect the attack back at Dragon!Kaidou. "Let's settle this." he told Dragon!Kaidou.
