As a kit, Redpaw always dreamed of becoming a warrior. She wanted it so badly that she couldn't imagine doing anything else. Then one-day Spottedleaf visits her in her dream and tells her she must become a medicine cat and gives her no reason why. This thrusts Redpaw into a horrible dilemma: should she follow the wishes of StarClan and become a medicine cat? Or will she fight back?

AU: Mapleshade had always been especially sensitive to spirits. Through life, she acted on what she believed was their guidance. After her kits' death, she began hallucinating. She believed they were Starclan spirits and followed their orders. Now she is in the Darkforest. As she tries to serve a penance for her crimes, she learns the truth about Starclan and the Darkforest.

It had been about a moon or two since WindClan had returned home, and Morningflower was rather pleased to see how quickly her clanmates have returned to some semblance of normalcy. The grey-and-ginger molly sighed softly to herself as she looked down at her still sleeping kit. The dappled grey molly then turned to see Ambertail, Ashscar, and Softsnow.

"Runningwind is a fine hunter and a loyal warrior, but I don't think he has the patience for mentoring. ThunderClan has better use for his skills." Bluestar's words haunted Runningwind more than he cared to admit. But he would mentor an apprentice. Or fail miserably.
