With the authorities looking for them, the giraffe must now get the tributes to safety—but first she'll have to help them trust each other.

The ocean, as well as its tributes, feel that thirst for blood, the burning desire in them to perform, to violently battle for the highest seat of all. There's but one problem with the Victor's mask. For it to work, the victor must have two essential things; haunting vivid memories and loved ones they would trade their lives to protect. One without the other is to no use. So when Olive Navin Cresta survives the 69th Hunger Games with no recollection of her time in the Arena, the mask gets destroyed before it's even placed.

Direct Variation: a mathematical term for the equation y equals kx, in which "k" is a constant, 23 in our case, and "x" is a variable, standing for the number of Games, of course. It's a perfect equation, but unexplainably, there are inconsistencies. And if they have their way, there will be more. Rewritten into the third person.
