Eliana walked into the hallway that led to Shmuel's office, humming to herself. Things had been going well between the two of them for weeks now and it felt as though nothing could tear them apart. Except her father, when he found out that Shmuel and others were trying to turn people against him. She wanted to marry Shmuel, but was worried that she wouldn't have a chance to before her father found out what was going on.
Now her mood was dropping and she hated herself for even thinking about the situation with her father. She wiped at her eyes now and took a deep breath, now perfectly composed. She hated when people saw her upset. It made her uncomfortable. Only Shmuel saw her when she cried and fell apart.
She walked past a man who looked upset, smiling sympathetically at him before walking into her beloved's office, shutting the door and locking it as she always did when they were together.
"Hello darling" Shmuel said as he put a scroll away, smiling as Eliana walked up to him happily. She stood up on her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around his neck as she smiled up at him.
"Hello!" she exclaimed as Shmuel wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer as he kissed her deeply and tenderly.
She smiled against his lips as he sat her up on his desk, wrapping an arm around him as he kissed her neck, making her sigh softly. "Okay we should probably get Yanni to marry us like...tonight if you're going to keep that up."
He chuckled softly, kissing her lips quickly once more before rubbing his nose against her's kissing it as well. "Okay, okay! I just missed you today is all" he said softly as Eliana buried her face in his neck, snuggling closer to him as they both held eachother tighter.
"I missed you too" she said softly, closing her eyes before she asked him the question she had been dying to ask him since she had walked into his office.
"Okay I have to ask this. Who was that sad looking man who just walked out of here?"
"Some man who thought that the Jesus that we want was swindling him out of his money. Turns out he wasn't. My sympathy for his loss is not as high as it was when he came in here."
"Well I mean. He was probably mistaken honey. We may not know the whole story" Eliana said as she rubbed her hand up and down Shmuel's back trying to calm him down. She knew how fired up he got about the whole Jesus of Nazareth thing.
"Maybe..." he said as he buried his face in her hair, breathing in her familiar floral scent as he started to calm down a bit more. She always had that effect on him.
Eliana on the other hand was still inwardly freaking out and Shmuel could feel her tension. He nuzzled her head before kissing her once more, pulling her closer against him. He knew what this was about and he always made sure she knew that she wouldn't lose him.
Her arms around his waist tightened as he placed tiny kisses down her neck and up her face as she closed her eyes, sighing happily. This time, she didn't protest as she just wanted to feel his every kiss and caress. He smiled against her skin before kissing her lips once more, tilting her head up with his hand as she slid her hands up his chest, eventually wrapping her arms around his neck.
Tears filled her eyes as a sob escaped her lips. Shmuel pulled back and took her face in his hands. "Eliana what is it darling" he asked gently, brushing her hair out of her face as she tried to fight back tears, failing miserably.
"I'm scared" she whispered softly, placing her forehead on his as she gazed into his familiar eyes, the tears that she could no longer contain falling down her cheeks as he wiped them away.
He picked her up in his arms bridal style as he carried her to the couch, setting her down before he sat down next to her, leaning back as she wrapped her arms around him tightly, her face in his neck.
"What are you worried about most my dear?" he asked gently as he stroked her hair back behind her ear as she looked up at him once more, her eyes locking with his.
"That Abba won't let me marry you and I'll never be able to see you again."
Shmuel rubbed her back gently as she leaned into his shoulder now, her hand clutching his robes gently. "Eliana that will not happen" he said softly as he kissed her cheek and then her lips.
"We will figure something out. I promise you! We will not be separated."
He kissed her deeply, Eliana's arms winding around his neck as he pulled her against him. One of his hands went into her hair as she slid her hands down to his chest. For Shmuel, it felt good to have her in his arms after a long day. To feel her kisses and caresses as well as her gentle hugs. She continued to kiss him happily, her hands moving to his cheeks as he pulled her closer.
Eliana's stomach grumbled a little now as she pulled away, a blush forming on her cheeks now as Shumel chuckled, kissing her nose. "Why don't you and I get some dinner. I'll fix you're favorite seeing as you're a little upset tonight."
He helped her up off the couch now, taking her hand as he led her into the kitchen. He started to fix dinner as she sat up on the counter, swinging her legs back and forth. Usually the woman would be cooking, but it turned out that Shmuel was an excellent cook as well. And it was nice when he cooked for her.
Eliana was a little happier now that they were together. He smiled over at her occassionally now as he continued to cook her favorite dish that her mother had taught him to make when she had been sick a couple months ago.
Once done cooking, they curled up on the couch, leaning against eachother as they ate their dinner, laughing and talking. All the pain forgotten for now as they just had eachother. They were together now and that was all that mattered.
Once done with dinner, Shmuel went and washed the dishes quickly before walking back to his beloved, who was gazing up at him with all the adoration he never expected he would ever get from a girl. He took her hands gently, pulling her up into his arms as he led her to their room, kissing her cheek as they entered. He spun her around now and wrapped his arms around her from behind, making her giggle as he placed kisses up and down her face.
"Shmuel!" she shrieked happily as he picked her up in his arms, walking to the bed. He laid her down gently before walking over to his dresser as she sat up.
He threw her one of his nightgowns, which she changed into quickly while his back was turned. She quietly laid back down, gazing out the window, wishing that every night could be like this. She buried her face into Shmuel's pillows, sighing happily as he got into bed next to her, kissing her cheek softly as he turned her around to face him.
"You are beautiful" he whispered softly, kissing her as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Even in a nightgown?" she asked as he pulled her closer to him.
"You are beautiful in anything" he said against her lips, kissing her deeper than before.
"You are really making me want to marry you right now" she said inbetween kisses, smiling against his lips.
He laughed now and pulled her against his chest. "I love you Eliana.
"I love you too Shumel" she whispered as she closed her eyes and drifted off.
The couple woke up to a loud banging on the door. "Noo..." Eliana fake sobbed as Shmuel kissed her forehead.
"Let me go see what they want at this hour" he whispered against her skin before getting up and walking out of the room.
"Rabbi Shmuel!" someone called out now as he walked across the living room grumpily.
They had woken him up and yes that didn't bother him, but they also woke up his girl and that was a problem to him. He grumbled a little as he opened the door to see one of his students telling him that someone was here to see him.
"I'll be right there" he said grumpily as he walked back to the bedroom to find Eliana sitting up in bed with a raised eyebrow.
"What is going on?" she asked now as he started to get dressed in a hurry. When she didn't get an answer, she sighed and got up, walking over to him.
"Let me help. I've seen Eema help Abba with this all the time" she said as she started to help him dress without hesitation. It was as if she had been doing it all her life.
Shmuel looked down at Eliana now as she helped him. It wasn't possible that he felt more love for her in that moment than he had the whole time they had been together because he had always loved her. Since she was sixteen. He would always watch her from afar when she was with her two sisters. It was always him and Yussif watching the two fraternal twins grow up and suddenly they went from girls to women before they're eyes. And then it had been the same way for Yanni and Abigail.
"Shumel?"
Eliana's melodic voice brought him out of his trance now as she kissed his cheek. "You're ready."
He smiled and gazed into her beautiful eyes now, pulling her close as he brought his lips to her's. Eliana slowly wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling against his lips. She could get used to this.
"You're going to be late" she said softly as he ran his hand through her hair, kissing her forehead.
"We can be here for a few more minutes sweetheart" he said, pulling her against him as she wrapped her arms around him, her cheek on his chest.
He rubbed her back, kissing her head gently as she closed her eyes. "I love you" he whispered as he noticed her growing sleepy once more.
He lifted her into his arms, placing her back onto the bed, pulling the covers over her.
He was surprised when she pulled him down for a gentle kiss. "I love you too" she whispered softly, rubbing her nose against his.
I'll be back" he said as he kissed her forehead before blowing the candle out once more before walking out the door.
He had told her that he would be back by night. A promise that she knew he would keep. Eliana had changed back into her dress and was now sitting on Shmuel's bed, gazing out the window, one of his blankets around her. It was raining now and she was thinking about all the times that they had together over the past couple months, from the very first day they had kissed up until now.
Maybe she was being stupid. Maybe her fears about losing Shmuel were unfounded. And maybe they would get married one day and start a family. They had always talked about wanting a little girl and a place to call they're own to settle down in. It was a dream they shared since they had first gotten together.
She didn't know how much time had passed until she heard the door to the bedroom open behind her, making her turn around to see a very wet Shmuel with an unreadable expression on his face.
"Shmuel?" she asked now, getting off the bed to grab a towel, but he was faster than she was.
Eliana soon found herself wrapped up in his arms as he kissed her passionately. She quickly dropped the towel and held onto him tightly as she eagerly kissed back, her arms winding around his neck. It all felt like some wonderful dream that she never wanted to wake up from as he pulled back finally, placing his forehead on her's.
"Marry me" he said breathlessly, holding her face in his hands, their noses almost touching.
"You mean tonight?" she asked, a little shocked that he would ask this so suddenly.
"I don't want to lose you Eliana. I would rather we get married now than lose eachother."
She thought for a moment as she gazed into his eyes before rubbing her nose against his playfully, a bright smile on her face.
"Yes. Yes Shmuel I will marry you" she said, a smile forming on her lips as he kissed her once more, her excitement growing by the minute.
"But are we going to get married when we are soaking wet?" she asked now, gazing up into his warm brown eyes as they both laughed, kissing eachother once more before pulling apart.
"You two are what?!" Nicodemus looked between Eliana & Shmuel now, shocked at what he was hearing.
Abigail, Eliana's older sister and Yanni were standing behind him now, trying to look small. They hadn't gotten married the night before because they didn't want to overshadow Eliana and her now husband. But they were scared of losing eachother as well.
Eliana and Shmuel held onto eachother's hands tightly as Nicodemus stared at the married couple in front of him. He couldn't believe this. "Eliana how could you be so care..."
"I was scared!" she burst out now, making everyone in the room including her husband jump. "I've been having panic attacks for weeks about you splitting us up. Abigail's had them too!"
Nicodemus sighed and rubbed his head. He wasn't blind to what was going on when it came to the politics of what he, Yanni, Shmuel and Yussif all did, but that didn't mean he was going to shatter his children's worlds because of some disagreements and differences of opinion. And he should have told them that sooner. Because now he missed a wedding because he didn't.
"You've been having panic attacks?" Shmuel asked Eliana now, pulling her into his arms as she buried her face into his shoulder.
"Abby what..." Yanni asked at the same time, concerned about her now as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
"We didn't want to worry you both" Abigail said into his neck, hiding her face from view.
"Girls..." Nicodemus started, getting both Eliana and Abigail's attention as the looked up at their father.
"I never meant to cause any issues. I wish you had come to me about all this and I am sorry if there has been any fear.
He walked over to Eliana, who hugged her father tightly now, crying softly into his shoulder. "I'm sorry Abba...I was just scared."
"It's my fault little dove" he said softly, stroking her hair as he looked over at Shmuel, who was watching his wife worried. The man despite his faults truly cared about his daughter and that comforted him.
"Take care of her Shmuel" he said now as the other man nodded.
"I love you Abba" Eliana whispered softly, kissing his cheek.
"I love you more. You will always be my little girl. All you girls are still my little girls.
He was talking about Havelah as well, who had three kids and a wonderful husband. The father and daughter hugged for a few more minutes before pulling apart as he wiped away her tears. Eliana looked over at Abigail and Yanni now as did Shmuel, who walked up behind his wife, kissing her cheek as he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
"We should get going honey" he said softly into her ear. I think Abby needs to talk to you're Abba as well."
Eliana nodded and hugged her father once more, who smiled softly, kissing her forehead. "At least let me know when I expect some grandchildren" he whispered into her hair as she laughed, shaking her head.
"Shalom, Shalom Abba. I love you."
"Shalom, Shalom my child. I love you too very much!"
Things would be alright now. She was sure of it as she walked out into the street with Shmuel, gazing up at him now as he held onto her hand tightly. He would never let her go now and neither would she.
