I'm back! I hope you enjoy this.
The next day, thirty people bought at least one blue cookie before noon. I hadn't had the chance to call Percy yet, but I couldn't wait to. Right before the bakery closed, Percy came in.
"I see the blue cookies are a hit," he said.
Almost all of them were gone. There were only two left.
"Yes," I said, smiling. "Thanks for the idea."
"You're welcome."
"Do you want one?" I asked.
"Yes, please," he said.
I grabbed him one.
"Actually, could I have two?"
I grabbed the other one and he paid for both. I put them in a paper bag and gave them to him. He took the bag, then took out one of the cookies and handed it to me.
"Here," he said. "For my favorite baker."
I blushed.
"Thank you!"
I took the cookie.
"Call me!" He said.
He left the bakery. I closed the shop. Right before I left, Piper called me.
"Did you see that blue cookie guy today, Annabeth?" She asked.
"As a matter of fact, he was just here. And his name is Percy."
"So, do you like him?"
"Well, yes, but I barely know him."
"Get to know him. He gave you his number, right?"
"Yep."
"Call him and then go to the gala with him."
"What if he doesn't want to go?"
"Oh, he'll want to go. Who else would make blue cookies for him? He likes you."
I smiled. We talked for a few more minutes and then I hung up. I left the shop and took the subway to my apartment. When I finally got home, I took out the napkin with Percy's number on it and called him.
"Hello?" He said.
"Hello, this is Annabeth. Is this Percy?"
"Oh yes. You're the girl who made me blue cookies, right?"
"Uh-huh."
We talked for a while. I wasn't sure when to mention the gala, so I didn't.
"When do you get off work tomorrow?" He asked.
"I don't work tomorrow," I said. "The shop's not open on Wednesdays."
"Oh! Well, why don't we go out for coffee?"
I smiled.
"That sounds like a good idea!"
"Great. How about in the morning?"
"Sure. What time?"
"How about nine?"
"Sounds good."
We talked for a little while more and then I hung up. I couldn't wait for tomorrow.
