Chapter 36
The Provisional Licensing Part 1
Bakugo, Freya, Kirishima, and Kaminari moved through the teraine without running into people. It seemed like the fight was focused on the friends they left behind. Mera did the announcing. It seemed like they were all at a stalemate.
"Maybe its a good thing we didn't stay with the others." Kirishima said.
"Yeah, but we're missing our chance to move to the next round." Freya said with a sigh as they reached the city area. "Next round. I'm staying away from you guys." Bakugo shot her a glare.
"Brat. I don't care with the next round. You are here to help us and I know your Quirk better then anyone." Bakugo said. Mera lets out a yell.
"WHAT?! There were 120 people taken down? A single person managed to do that in just one attack?!" Mera yelled. Freya felt her blood run cold at his words.
"120? Who took them down?" Kaminari asked.
"Who knows? Maybe that strong guy." Kirishima said. Freya groaned.
"That actually surprised me so much that I'm awake! I assume we'll see a lot of people passing from now on. Everyone, let's get this out of the way so I can take a break. Good? Good!" Bakugo reached some set of stairs and started climbing. Freya sighed and started to follow him with Kaminari and Kirishima right behind them as Mera continued announcing how many more were knocked out.
'We're running out of time.' Freya thougth as they climbed.
"Hey, Kaminari. Why'd you follow us?" Kirishima asked.
"I dunno. Because you guys started running. I didn't wanna end up alone. Where are we going?" Kaminari asked. Bakugo was getting annoyed at the two. He saw Freya right behind him with the other two idiots behind them. He didn't mind Freya but the other two were going to drive him crazy.
"Shut up!" Bakugo yelled down.
"Why you always gotta sound so mad?" Kaminari said.
"I told you to chill out, Bakugo." Kirishima said. Freya sighed. "Looks like their are a lot of people up there, so the four of us should work together." They reached the top. Bakugo jumped up and bent down to hold out his hand for Freya. Freya grabbed it and he pulled her up. Kirishima and Kaminari had to pull themselves up.
"Go die." Bakugo growled at the boys.
"Come on, man." Kirishima said.
"He's right. If we want to move to the next round, we should work tog..." Something that looked like it was made of flesh, hits Freya in the chest and sends her flying.
"FREYA!" Bakugo yelled. Kirishima shoved Bakugo out of the way as another meaty thing comes flying at Bakugo, but hits Kirishima instead.
"Freya! Kirishima." Kaminari shouted.
"Damnit." Bakugo said watching as Freya and Kirishima yelled as both are transformed into piles of hair and eyes. They looked like mush. They land in the purple hair guys hands.
"What the crap? Did that really hust happen?" Kaminari said. Bakugo looked like he wanted to murder the guy.
"All I know is, that bastard looks like he's to blame." Bakugo said. He got a crazed look on his face. "So I'll kill him."
"He took out Freya first. He knew her quirk and took her out before she would use the Erase Quirk on him. He knew to take her out." Kaminari said with worried looks as the boy held the two lumps of body material in both his hands.
"More examinees have passed. Which means we are at 60 people. Which means 40 spots are left!" Mera announced.
"We're running out of time." Bakugo growled.
"I'm from Shigetsu. Please notice my school keeps our hats on when we're working." The boy said. The lumps were moving in his hands. Why's that? Because... Each and every one oof our movements is crowned by the legacy and honor of our school." The boy said. He dropped the lumps of skin of Freya and Kirishima onto the ground in front of him. "This is a demonstration. Proof of the difference in level between my peers and your vulgar class. We value obligation and dignity, things that appear to be sorely lacking among you." Bakugo had been glaring at the boy with purple hair. That guy with the hat was starting to piss him off. He smirked at teh guy.
"I really hate your type." Bakugo said.
"He's hard to follow. Makes me feel kind of dumb." Kaminari said.
"He said his beady eyes are full of tears, so he can't see how strong his opponents are." Bakugo said. That seemed to piss Shishikura off.
"My eyes are dry and handsome, thank you!" Shishikura said.
"Hey! Maybe don't provoke this guy? Especially when your girlfriend is one of those whatever they are." Kaminari said, looking at Bakugo with worry. With Freya as she is, Kaminari knew there was no way to get Bakugo to calm down.
"Tch." Bakugo said.
"UA High. I have respect for your school. I take pride in the fact that our institutions are treated as equals. But your class is shameful." Shisikura said. A flash comes and flesh come out from behind him to form what looked like fingers. "You act in way that disgrace heroes."
"He's attacking again. I don't wanna be gross!" Kaminari said.
"Shut up." Bakugo yelled. He glared at Kaminari. "Obligation? Dignity? You just like to hear yourself talk." Bakugo held out his hand. "I don't see any proof. Show us with your actions, not your cheap words. If you can."
"Beast. You're worst of all, Bakugo. Even with your girlfriend not here to control your temper." Shisikura said. The finger like flesh moved towards Bakugo and Kaminari. Bakugo ran at them.
Ms. Joke was trying to talk to Aizawa and handed him some gum.
"Want some gum?" Ms. Joke said.
"It's really a finger trap, isn't it?" Aizawa said. He was worried his class would be knocked out. He didn't know where Freya was. She had gone with the best fighters of the class so he knew she be safe and Bakugo wouldn't let anything happen to her. "I don't like this. It's fustrating that we can't tell who passes and fails in real time."
"And our Shindo only made it worse by splitting the ground open. Now it's hard to see anything." Ms. Joke said. She gasped and looked at Aizawa. "Wait. Eraser! Are you actually worried? I get it that your daughter is out there and you be worried of her, but you wouldn't favor her more then your students." Ms. Joke said. Aizawa didn't look at her.
"There's something I've realized after watching my students in school and in the field. They might not have realized it themselves, but in Class 1-A, there are two people whose spirits have a big impact. They're not leaders or the most popular. And the two of them don't get along at all. Sometimes they seem like polar opposites. However, before I knew it, their passion had spread to the rest of their peers. It's strange. But every time there's some kind of major event, one of them is at the center of it. I'm not worried, Joke. It's the opposite, actually. I can't wait to see what they'll do. Even if those two aren't physically with the others, their presence raises the standard for the entire class." Aizawa said. Ms. Joke blew a bubble from the gum.
"You've fallen for them hard. It's kinda gross." Ms. Joke said. Aizawa's eyes seemed to lower. He knew his class could succeed and this was their true test.
"I'm honored to have them as students. My Class 1-A." Aizawa said.
"AP Shot. Auto-Cannon!" Bakugo blasted the fingers away, making sure not to destroy the lumps of flesh that were students and Freya and Kirishima. Shishikura didn't seem happy at being stopped. "I had to make a weak version so I didn't kill anyone. I'm not getting my ass handed to me by Brat and her father." Kaminari looked terrified.
"You know what, this is why everyone's terrified of you, well except Freya. You're way to hardcore!" Kaminari said. Flesh started coming back to Shishikura.
"Damnit. I can't believe I fell for that. But I won't again." Shishikura said. Kaminari watched in shock.
"So those nasty finger things just float back to him?" Kaminari said.
"I see now." Shishikura said. Flesh jumps off of him. "I'll teach you a lesson by breaking you." Shishikura said. The flesh things seem to move on their own. "This will show you what it means to be dignified and behave like a hero!" Kaminari looked like he wanted to run as Bakugo smirked.
"What is up with this disgusting dude?" Kaminari asked.
"He thinks he's better than us." Bakugo said. He starts running at Shishikura. "But I bet he'll shut up when I..."
"Hey, wait, don't forget we're in the middle of a test!" Kaminari yelled as Bakugo charged.
"That's exactly why I'll kill the guy!" Bakugo said.
"Absurb!" Shishikura said. Arm like flesh in multiples shot out at Bakugo. He started shooting at them as they got close. One shot out at the side and Bakugo blasted it. Kaminari groaned and put a disk in his arm gun.
"Ugh. Let's just get this fight over with." Kaminari said, shooting disks out of the gun on his arm. "Maybe this will speed things up. Shishikura dodged them and they hit the wall behind him.
"You should work on your aim." Shishikura said.
"Aw, crap!" Kaminari said.
"And your look. Maybe I can make you something more appealing." Shishikura said. Bakugo brought his arms forward.
"Enough talk. DIE!" Bakugo yelled as his hand glowed. He sent a huge blast at Shishikura. The smoke cleared and it looked like Shishikura had a flesh barrier in front of him. He brought it down. He kept a straight face.
"You've left yourself open." Shishikura said. A flesh like hand grabbed Bakugo by the back of the neck.
"What the?!" Bakugo yelled.
"You weren't paying attention. I had a piece of flesh sneak beneath us. You saw. Earlier with Kirishima and Freya." Shishikura said. Bakugo struggled against the flesh, but it started to consume him. "Once I touch you, you're my plaything." Kaminari charged towards his friend. Two of his friends were already lumps of flesh, he didn't want to loose another friend.
"Bakugo!" Kaminari yelled. Bakugo grabbed one of his grenades that was on his belt as the flesh covered his face.
"Hey! Idiot! Fix this!" Bakugo yelled as he tossed the grenade at Kaminari. Kaminari grabbed it as Bakugo was changed into a lump of flesh like everyone else.
"Pathetic. You must be remade from scratch." Shishikura said. Kaminari looked at Bakugo in horror as the lump of flesh moved around angrily.
"No way!" Kaminari said.
"This is a demonstration." Shishikura said. Kaminari looked at the guy like he was nuts. "The test has an unusually low passing rate. At first this seemed counterintuitive given our current world. With All Might retired, wouldn't it make more sense to flood the streets with heroes? And so, I must assume that their goal is to weed out the riffraff. We can surmise that they're starting to be more selective in order to bring the profession of hero to a higher level. And I agree with this way of thinking. So I decided to thin the herd myself."
"You're ignoring the test because you think you're superior? What are you, a crazy person?" Kaminari asked.
"I'm simply separating the mediocre and extraordinary." Shishikura said. He put his foot on the lump of flesh that was Kirishima. "By the way, your comrades here still feel pain in this form. Your untamed electricity will torture your friends if you use it." Kaminari put his hand to his head.
"Ugh. You've been doing nothing but hurling insults at us this entire time. I'm kinda starting to take it personally, ya know." Kaminari said as he dug into his pants as more flesh fingers started to form. Kaminari was wishing for Freya's Erase Quirk right now. He have to figure out how to free them and stop this guy.
"Then perhaps you are more self-aware than I thought. I'd take time to reflect on your failure." Shishikura said. The flesh head towards Kaminari and Kaminari opened his eyes with a slight glare. Kaminari sends the grenade towards Shishikura and it explodes. Shishikura grunts in surprise. Kaminari smirked as he dodged one of the fingers seeing he caught Shishikura by surprise when he saw the grenade that Kaminari had tossed.
"Those ugly-ass gauntlets of his aren't just some kind of fashion statement. He can use that gear along with his nitro sweat to create simple grenades." Kaminari said. Freya had explained it to Kaminari one time when he asked. Shishikura gasped.
"That's it! He tossed it to you." Shishikura said. Kaminari brought his goggles down.
"By the way, big shot." Shishikura gasped as Kaminari pointed his finger towards the disks that he had threw stuck into the wall. "You've stumbled into a really killer spot." He shoots electricity at the disk and Shishikura screams as he is electrified. Kaminari remembers a memory.
A week ago.
"Sharpshooting?" Kaminari asked as he and Freya sat talking about their training. Freya shot him the idea of it.
"Well why not? You can use it to control where you shoot your electricity at the enemy without hurting those around you." Freya said. Kaminari couldn't help but think its a good idea.
Back to present.
'Thanks for the idea Freya. You do have a brilliant mind.' Kaminari thought. He did appreciate Power Loader helping out with the idea as Shishikura fell to his knees.
"Listen up. Bakugo might seem like a total jerk on the surface, but he's actually trying really hard to be a Pro Hero. He threw that grenade to me while being attacked. That was the result of calm judgment and planning." Kaminari said. He didn't notice that all the flesh was Starting to form bodies. "Freya is brilliant girl and deserves to be a hero. She's one that can keep Bakugo calm when he has his moments, but you took her out because of her Erase Quirk which was wrong. And Kirishima is such a good dude that he rushed into enemy territory for his friends even though it was a totally stupid thing to do." Shishikura stood up, shaking. "You only know bits and pieces of information about these guys and girl. Don't insult what you don't know!"
"I'll teach you to be more aware of your place. You degenerate!" Shishikura said. He goes to move the flesh and they suddenly stop. "WHAT!"
"You pissed off the wrong girl." Kaminari turned and his eyes widen. Freya stood there with a pissed off look on her face with her hair and the capture scarf floating around her. Her eyes were more of a dark purple. "You don't mess with me or any of my friends!"
"You. I'll..." Kirishima punched Shishikura in the stomach and Bakugo attacked him with an explosion, knocking him to the ground. Freya had given the two time to attack him.
"Dude. You are scary when pissed." Kaminari said. Freya pulled the Capture Scrarf back to her and her hair went down as she blinked. "No wonder Bakugo is terrified of you at times." Kirishima chuckled as Bakugo rolled his eyes. "How did you guys get free?"
"The more damge he takes, the more people get released." Freya explained as she looked at Kaminari.
"No wonder he was only using long-distance attacks." Bakugo said, walking over to Freya and looking her over. She elbowed him with a smile.
"Thanks for the save, Kaminari." Kirishima said.
"You really did take my idea at heart. Good job." Freya said, earning a smile from Kaminari.
"You idiot. What took you so long?" Bakugo said.
"Why are you so mean? No one's ever gonna like you if you act that way!" Kaminari said. He gasped and pointed. "Whoa, look behind you." Freya, Bakugo, and Kirishima look to see others starting to come out of the balls. "Those other fleshballs are all waking up." Freya cracked her knuckles.
"Oh goodie." Freya said. Bakugo licked his lips.
"We've got targets." Bakugo said with a smirk.
"I call the Meatball guy." Freya said, running over to Shishikura, who was knocked out cold. Bakugo chuckled.
Soon. Freya, Bakugo, Kirishima, and Kaminari had enough to head to where the winners were being sent. Freya jumped with excitement.
"We're moving on!" Freya said. Kirishima and Kaminari joined her in the excitement.
"I wonder how many of our classmates will be joining us." Kaminari said as they left the losers on the ramp and head to the ground to start going. Bakugo was leading the way, avoiding the conversation.
"Guess we will see when we get to the meeting place.
"Currently 70 people have passed. Thirty more and we'll be done." Mera said. They walked till they reached the Anteroom. By the time they reached it they were now at 82.
"Whoa, this entire arena's going insane." Kirishima said.
"We are getting close to the end of the first round. So everyone is trying to get their spot." Freya explained.
"Hey, look, some of our classmates." Kaminari said. Freya smiled seeing Izuku, Sero, and Uraraka walking towards teh Anteroom as well. Kamiari ran towards them. "Aw, yeah! Class-A represent!" They stop.
"You know it. Our class is amazing! We did it!" Uraraka yelled. Kirishima and Kaminari grabbed Freya and they joined Sero and Uraraka in a dance as they danced around.
"Class 1-A. Class 1-A." The five yelled as they dance. Bakugo glared at them as he walked by. He swore Freya had to much energy then him. He turned his gaze on Izuku with a death glare.
"So you passed, too. How did you manage that, Deku?" Bakugo said. Freya sent Izuku a worried look.
"Kacchan. Hey!" Izuku said. Izuku sighed as Bakugo walked by.
"Guess I shouldn't be surprised with that Quirk you got. It looks like you've made that borrowed power your own." Bakugo said. Izuku gasps in horror. "Brat! Stop acting like those idiots and lets go." Freya hurried after him and the others soon follow. They found Yaoyorozu, Jiro, Todoroki, Tsu, and Shoji in the room already.
"Oh, hey! What a relief. I was starting to get so worried!" Yaoyorozu said. Freya smiled seeing their friends.
"No need to worry about us, Yao-momo." Kaminari said as he came up to them with the others. "What's up? When did you guys pass? You been here long?"
"We just finished as well. Todoroki beat us." Shoji said. Jiro came over to stand with Freya.
"I was kinda shocked Bakugo wasn't here already. But I get it now. It's becuase you were with him." Jiro said.
"We ran into some issues, but we got through it." Freya said as Kaminari went off on Jiro.
"The key to take off your targets is in the back. They asked us to return them to the shelf now that we're done." Tsu said. Freya grabbed the boys when she heard that and pulled them towards the back. They got the stuff off and returned it to the shelves.
"Looks like 11 of us have passed, so nine more to go." Freya said. Bakugo sighed.
"Least we passed." Bakugo said, nudging her.
"Yeah. Let's get food before this finishes and the next round starts." Freya said. They grabbed food. Mera kept announcing the winners.
'Ten more spots. Come on guys.' Freya said as she joined everyone by the tv to watch. Bakugo stood with her as they waited. Aizawa was watching as some of Ms. Joke's class entered the Anteroom. He had seen Freya with Bakugo head into there with Izuku and others. He was happy to see his daughter moving onto the next round. He knew she would tell him about the experience later.
"Looks like our class." Yaoyorozu said. She was getting worried.
"Still has nine people who haven't passed. I hate to say it, but it's not sounding good for us." Jiro said.
"They still got time. Let's hope we all can get through this." Freya said.
"That's two more spots. Eight spots left." Mera called. Freya closed her eyes as her and Jiro held onto each other, hoping that it was some of their classmates as their classmates started filling the rest of the spots till they were full. An alarm blares.
"The last students pass!" Mera yelled. Jiro and Freya jumped with excitement. Bakugo sat on the couch with a glare as he was not in a good mood. "Every spot is now filled. One hundred students will advance. The end is finally here! Wah-hoo!" Kirishima and Kaminari jump on Freya and Jiro as they saw that all their classmates had passed on the screen. (AN: Not gonna do the whole fight lol.)
"We did it!" Kirishima and Kaminari yelled. Freya let out a laugh of joy.
"Our entire class passed the test, I'm so excited!" Uraraka said.
"Aw, man! I am so proud of us!" Sero said.
"Ribbit, Ribbit!" Tsu said. Freya tackled Bakugo onto the couch.
"We did it." Freya said, kissing his check.
"Tch." Bakugo said, gently shoving her off.
"What's got you crabby?" Freya said, glaring at him.
"Not here. I'm not in the mood to argue." Bakugo said. Freya sighed.
"Nevermind. I don't want to know." Freya said, walking off. Bakugo was glaring at Deku. Aizawa let out a sigh. His whole class had passed and were moving on. He couldn't be more proud.
"Unfortunately, those of you who failed will now have to withdraw from the licensing exam. Please leave the test area immediately." Mera said.
"They just had to keep me on the edge of my seat, huh? We're training so hard when we get back." Aizawa said. Ms. Joke laughed.
"Oh, come on, you're happy, aren't you? Freya defintly made you proud. Hopefully next round I get to see her more in action. She defintly is your exact oposit." Ms. Joke said.
"Furious." Aizawa said.
"Then what's that sparkle in your eye?" Ms. Joke said.
"Annoyance." Aizawa said. Ms. Joke laughs. Aizawa wouldn't admit it, but he was proud of his class and daughter for proving everyone wrong about UA.
The rest of UA joined their class in the Anteroom. Everyone was happy. Mina, Jiro, and Freya stood talking explaining what they went through.
"Oh right. For the 100 of you who passed the first test, please turn your attention to the screen." Mera said. Everyone turned towards the screen. It was the test arena.
"What's going on?" Freya asked.
"We're about to find out." Mina said. Explosions rang through the test arena, destroying everything. Freya's eyes widen.
"Why?" Some asked.
"Wait does that mean?" Izuku said.
"Is it what I think it is?" Freya asked as buildings collapsed.
"There's only one more round to the exam. Your goal is simple: Undertake rescue exercises and save the bystanders who are trapped in these disaster sites." Mera said.
"Ooh. Rescue test." Freya said. Others nod.
"But bystanders?" Tsu asked.
"Use this time to show us how you will carry out successful rescue procedures once you receive your provisional licenses. Treat this as though it were the real thing. Shoji gasped.
"On the screen." Shoji said. Sato gasped.
"Little kids and old people." Sato said. People started emerging from the rubble.
"That's so dangerous. Why are they here?" Mineta said.
"These specialists have been trained as professional person in need of rescue. They're very popular. Introducing the Help us Company also known as HUC for short." Mera said.
"So, they're basically actors, I guess?" Sero said. Freya nodded.
"It's the kind of job you never think about." Tsu said.
"But a necessary one in our world since they support our hero training."Ojiro said.
"The HUC bystanders have dressed up like injured victims and will be located throughout the disaster site. We'll be judging how well you keep them safe as you go about your mission. Oh, by the way. We'll be scoring you on a point system. If you have more points than the benchmark at the time the exercise come to an end, then you pass the exam. We'll start in ten minutes. Take care of any necessary preperations now." Mera said. Freya smirked.
'This is something I can help with. Rescue will be easy.' Freya thought. This test was going to be more easy.
AN: Whoo. New chapter up. I'm liking how this story is coming and with the new chapter released with the Manga. I can finally figure out where I'm going when I get to that part of the story. Those who are caught up on the Manga like I am. I promise. I got plans for Bakugo and Freya. I won't spoil it for those who haven't read it. But I'm happy this new update because I now know more where to go with the couple. Till next time.
