II - Out for Blood

Lincoln panted as he continued to run along the southern wall. He avoided the infirmary as he turned north, now heading to his house. He wasn't certain Lily was there, but based on the direction Lily took, he wouldn't be surprised if Lily ran there by instinct.

However, upon walking towards his house, he saw a Vulture in riot armor grabbing Lily's arm, moving her towards the front yard. He took out his knife and took cover by Luna's house, watching the Vulture and planning out his next move. But to his surprise, the Vulture released Lily's arm and allowed her to enter the house before the Vulture jogged away.

As soon as the Vulture was gone from sight, Lincoln ran across the street and entered the house.

Lily gasped upon seeing Lincoln enter, though she quickly regained her breath and ran up to Lincoln to hug him.

"Are you okay?" asked Lincoln. "Did that person hurt you?"

"Carol?" asked Lily.

"Carol?"

"Yeah, that was Carol. She didn't hurt me."

Lincoln sighed.

"What is she planning?" he asked himself before grabbing Lily's hand. "Okay, we can't be here any longer. Chandler and Polly are going to try to look for us here."

Lincoln walked out the back door, moving Lily through the backyard and through the fence gate that separated his backyard from his Pop-Pops's backyard.

"We stay here?" asked Lily.

"Yeah."

Lily looked up at the attic window in the next house, seeing a face. She gasped and tapped Lincoln in the arm.

"Look!"

Lincoln looked at Lily before looking up, seeing Finn waving at him from the attic window. His eyes widened with surprise as he then moved Lily to the sidewalk and then over to the neighboring house.

"We really went full circle, huh?" whispered Lincoln.

As soon as he approached the garage, a door in the side opened.

Haley revealed herself, motioning Lincoln and Lily to come inside. The two ran into the garage and then inside the house through the side door.

After Haley shut the door, she turned over to the two of them and pointed at the stairs.

"We have to get you two to the attic," said Haley.

"Take her there," said Lincoln. "I have to look for Lana."

"It's too dangerous to be out there."

"That's exactly why I have to look for her."

Haley gave Lincoln a reluctant nod. She then walked Lily upstairs as Lincoln walked out the house.

Lily climbed the stairs to the attic where she saw Finn, Quinn, and Tucker.

"Lily!" gasped Quinn. "Thank goodness, you're safe."

"Yeah, for a minute there I thought you were getting chopped up to pieces out there," said Finn.

Quinn then elbowed him, causing him to grunt.

"Don't say that, you dingus!" she whispered loudly.

Lily gulped nervously as Haley closed the stairs to the attic.

Chandler panted as he caught up to Polly, who was standing in the middle of an intersection. He took a couple deep breaths as Polly checked her nails.

"Well?" asked Polly.

"What?" panted Chandler.

"You said you know where he went, Chandler-boy."

"Yeah, about that…"

Polly growled as she walked up to Chandler.

"Don't tell me you don't know," hissed Polly.

"I'm pretty sure he went to his house," said Chandler. "He should be there."

"Your neck is looking pretty breakable right now! I dare you to keep tempting me."

"Alright, alright, let's just go. We don't wanna lose him."

Chandler jogged in the direction of the Loud residence with Polly following him.

And just as Chandler predicted, Lincoln came out from the backyard of his house.

Polly smiled as Chandler ran towards him. Lincoln gasped as he ran out the front yard and to the west. As Chandler chased him, Polly noticed that Lily wasn't with Lincoln, so she walked towards the front yard.

Lincoln tried to make a run for the main gate, but there were roamers on the other side, all trying to get inside the community. Instead, he made a sharp left turn, heading southwards as Chandler continued to chase him.

"Get back here!" screamed out Chandler.

Polly walked down the driveway, making her way to the backyard before she spotted movement coming from the backyard. She lifted her knife and began to move towards the garage to use it as cover. However, she smiled widely as she saw a Vulture come out of the backyard, holding a hammer. Since he wasn't in riot gear, his clean-shaven face could be seen.

"Where did that white-haired boy go?" asked the Vulture.

"Somewhere over there," said Polly, pointing southwards. "But, I got a better question to ask. Where is his younger sister?"

The Vulture pointed at Haley's house.

"I saw him come out of there," said the Vulture. "Maybe he dropped her off there?"

"Huh. I see. Must be very well-guarded if he left her there."

"Must be."

"Well, come with me. Ignore the white-haired boy."

Polly walked out into the street, away from Haley's house.

"We're not going to that house?" asked the Vulture.

"Patience, young Kamil. I want to kill everyone inside as much as you do, but we should probably get some backup first. And some armor for you."

"Right, okay."

Polly and Kamil headed for the town center, disappearing from sight.

Then, a manhole cover near Haley's house opened up.

Luna came out of the manhole and stood guard with her pistol.

"Up… and up… and up…" echoed a voice from inside the manhole. "Here you go."

Lynn came out of the manhole cover, holding a piece of loose rope. She then stood over the manhole cover and pulled on the rope, lifting Aiden as the rope was tied around his upper body.

"Oh man, he's heavier than I thought," said Lynn.

"Need help?" asked Luna.

"Nope. I got this. Keep guard."

Luna nodded as she turned around. She then saw a man in riot gear approaching with a knife in hand. She lifted her pistol before the man waved his hands in protest.

"No, no, wait!"

The man removed his police helmet, revealing his face. It was Will.

"Oh, Will, thank goodness," gasped Luna. "What are you doing with that police armor?"

"I'm trying to disguise myself as one of them."

"The Vultures?"

"Is that what they're called?"

"Yep," groaned Lynn as he pulled an unconscious Aiden out of the manhole. "And Becky's the one leading them, right?"

"I… didn't know about that. Who's that?"

"Aiden. We need to get him into the infirmary."

"No can do," said Will. "They'll kill him if they spot him. Just get him inside Haley's house through the door inside the garage. I'll keep an eye out. Go!"

Lynn grabbed Aiden and carried him to Haley's house as Luna opened the side door inside the garage. She then entered as Will closed the manhole cover and dashed inside the house with the girls.

"Haley!" called out Will. "We got an injured guy over here!"

"Take him to my room!" exclaimed Haley.

Lynn and Will carried Aiden up the stairs as the attic stairs folded open. Luna followed them.

Haley placed a new pair of bed covers over her mattress and grabbed her gloves as Lynn and Will entered her room, placing Aiden on the bed.

"What happened to him?" asked Haley.

"He got shot in the chest," said Luna. "He was fine one minute, then the next…"

Haley removed Aiden's shirt, revealing a shirt tied tightly around his chest, though blood still seeped through. She then looked at his back, seeing no exit wound.

"How long ago did he get shot?"

"Must've been like twenty minutes ago."

"He's definitely lost a lot of blood. I'll patch him up but I need to take the bullet out of him. Thing is, I don't have the X-ray machine so if I try to dig out the bullet, I may rupture some veins. So I need the equipment for a blood transfusion. All of it's in the infirmary though. Not to mention blood bags. Any of you know his blood type?"

"No. We barely know anything about him."

"So he's a complete stranger."

"Yeah…"

"I can do my best to get the bullet out of him right now. It's going to be very risky."

"No, wait, I can head to the infirmary."

"Luna, it's too dangerous."

"I have to do it. I… we all owe him."

"I can go," said Will. "I'm disguised as one of them. I can easily move to the infirmary without sneaking around."

"Alright," said Haley. "Get O-negative blood. And get the transfusion equipment too. Just tubes and the needle."

"Got it."

Will dashed out of the room and down the steps.

Luna sighed deeply before hearing footsteps behind her. She turned around and saw Lily peeking into the room.

"Lily?"

"Luna!" gasped Lily.

Lily ran up to Luna and hugged her as Finn and Quinn walked to the doorway.

"Why aren't you guys up in the attic?" sighed Haley.

"Lily heard her sister's voice," said Quinn. "So we let her come down here."

"Which is strange," said Finn. "I'd kill to be away from my sister for more than five minutes."

Quinn turned around and growled at him before Lily ran up to Lynn to hug her too.

"Wait, where are the others?" asked Haley, referring to the rest of Luna's group.

Lincoln ran past the infirmary and made a sharp turn, quickly lifting a manhole cover as Chandler was not too far behind. He stepped down the ladders as Chandler spotted him. As Chandler raised his pistol, he released his grip on the ladder, causing him to land on the sewer pipe floor. He crawled through the pipe fast before making it to the main sewer tunnel as Chandler looked down the manhole, grossed out at the thought of entering.

Chandler groaned before climbing down the ladder with reluctance, slowly making his way down into the sewers.

At the same time, Polly came back to the driveway of the Loud residence with a couple Vultures in police armor, though she herself was not armored up. They headed for Haley's house.

Inside Haley's room, Aiden groaned as his eyes blinked open.

Lily looked over at him seeing Aiden slowly waking up as Haley slowly placed her hand on Aiden's face.

"Wait," said Haley, patching up Aiden's wound with a bandage. "Let me just finish right… here. There. How do you feel?"

"Head… feels light," said Aiden in a low voice.

"Well, you did lose a lot of blood. Not enough to put you in a coma, but enough to make you weak and faint for a moment there."

Luna smiled as she looked over at Aiden.

"Welcome back from the dead," said Luna.

Aiden smirked before looking at the little girl who stared back at him with curious eyes.

"Wait…" muttered Aiden before he turned towards Luna. "My glasses?"

"Here you go," said Luna, taking out the glasses from Aiden's backpack.

Luna handed Aiden his glasses, to which he quickly put on.

Aiden stared at the little girl, seeing the blue eyes and cream yellow hair. It was on Day 1000, he remembered, when he saw a little girl with the same blue eyes and cream yellow hair.

"Lily?" asked Aiden.

Lily felt the man's face was familiar. The glasses seemed to bring back a memory of the rabbit she was chasing, but she couldn't grasp where she saw the man.

"How did you know her name?" asked Lynn.

"Pennsylvania. You guys were in a cabin. There was a blizzard the next—"

The sound of a window shattering downstairs caught the group's attention.

Luna gasped as she then heard voices downstairs. However, she couldn't make them out.

"You guys have to hide," whispered Haley.

"Attic?" whispered Luna.

"No, it's too late for that. They're going to hear you. That closet over there."

Luna nodded as she moved Lily into the large closet on the side of the room. Finn, Quinn, and Tucker followed her.

Lynn gripped her pistol. However, there was almost no ammo left in it.

Aiden then groaned as he stood up, alarming Haley.

"Hey, you shouldn't be moving," whispered Haley.

Aiden ignored her and limped out of bed as Haley began to move towards the closet.

"If you're going to stand up, at least do so here."

Aiden continued to ignore her as he regained his footing. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, but also ignored that. He grabbed the skinny lamp next to Haley's bed and disconnected the wire, removed the lamp shade, and unscrewed the lightbulb from the rod. He then grabbed the wire and the rod, stepping out of the room slowly.

"What is he doing?" asked Haley.

Lynn followed him out of the room, causing Haley even more distress.

Luna then walked out of the closet.

"Luna, what are you—?"

Luna handed Haley her knife.

"Keep 'em safe," whispered Luna. "I gotta help too."

Luna then closed the closet and walked out of the room, now headed for the attic.

Patty heard footsteps coming from upstairs and smiled.

"Bingo," said Patty. "Someone's upstairs."

Patty smiled and tilted her head.

"Go ahead."

Kamil looked down at Patty's roller skates, realizing she wouldn't be able to go up any stairs. He then looked at her and nodded.

"On me," said Kamil.

Two Vultures followed him as they went up the stairs, holding their bladed weapons and flashlights.

A manhole cover opened up. Out came Lincoln, who was breathing heavily as he climbed up.

He groaned as he stood on his feet. He then looked behind him, seeing the roamers by the gate. He realized that he was standing by the entrance of Ketcham Park, and saw the many roamers that wandered around the destroyed cars and rotting corpses.

He grabbed his knife and banged against the side fence of the park. This caught the attention of some of the roamers by the gate, leading them away from the entrance to the community and towards Lincoln. He then ran away, causing the roamers to follow him. Only a few of them chased after him with running speed.

Lincoln then quickly turned around and stabbed the runners, making sure they weren't on his tail. He then saw Chandler climb up the manhole and began sweating heavily.

Chandler groaned as he pulled his entire body out of the manhole. He groaned as he saw Lincoln staring back at him.

"You… really thought I wouldn't go down there?" panted Chandler. "You… underestimate me, Stinkoln!"

Chandler then turned around and saw a group of roamers approaching him. He gasped and stood himself up on his feet as the roamers began to surround him.

"Oh, crap!"

Chandler fired his pistol, struggling to get the roamers away from him as Lincoln stared back with pity.

Lincoln sighed before running away, leaving Chandler to the roamers.

Carol continued walking along Franklin Street, being careful not to attract any attention to herself. She kept her head low as she approached the police station. But then she paused and saw Maya's corpse in the ground, her body brutally hacked apart. She grit her teeth before a Vulture approached her.

"Hey, can you move her corpse over there?" asked the Vulture, pointing at the large pile of corpses that lay in the intersection of the town center.

Carol gulped and looked at the Vulture, though from the side, avoiding direct eye contact.

"No can do," said Carol. "Becky needs me at the police station."

"I see. Well, don't let me stop you."

Carol nodded and continued walking on ahead as the Vulture looked at her. The Vulture may have had their suspicions, but Carol didn't stop to look back and confirm. She moved towards the town center, where the gas lamps were turned on to provide some of the light and fires burned on piles of bodies to provide the rest of it. She used the smoke around the town center to discreetly move towards the back parking lot of the police station.

She looked at the key Schoffner handed her earlier and took a deep breath before inserting it into the back door. The door unlocked and Carol entered, finding herself in a relatively quiet and dark hallway. However, there was light coming from around the corner, to which Carol slowly made her way towards.

She turned the corner and found a Vulture standing outside of the jail room. The Vulture turned towards her, confused.

"Where'd you come from?" asked the Vulture.

Carol lifted her pistol and fired at the Vulture multiple times, taking them down.

"What the—?" grunted a Vulture standing by the front door.

Carol walked out into the main office room and fired at a nearby Vulture, before using a desk as cover.

The front door Vulture grabbed his sidearm and fired quickly into the desk before stopping, panting heavily. He slowly moved around the office, stepping towards the desk, passing the detective's office.

Carol then crawled out from the side of the desk and fired her gun upwards, splattering the Vulture's brain apart inside his helmet. The body dropped and Carol took the Vulture's gun.

She quickly stood up and walked to the front door while grabbing a baton. She placed the baton on the door handles, making sure no one would get inside. She then walked back to the jail room where a Vulture burst out of the room. The Vulture's helmet visor was then torn apart by bullets as the Vulture fell down to the ground, blood seeping out of their helmet.

She grabbed the keys off of the Vulture's pockets and headed inside Schoffner's office, formerly Plesko's, to grab the cart of weapons. She then dragged it inside the jail center where she saw the cells and its many inhabitants.

"Who here has O-negative blood?" asked Carol.

However, the inhabitants remained silent, frightened to speak up. That is, until Clancy walked up to the metal bars.

"Lori?" he called out.

Carol removed her helmet and shook her head.

"Carol," she said.

"Oh, Carol, my goodness. You have to contact the other communities. You have to let them know what's going on."

"Indeed," said Katherine Mulligan. "I have a radio in my house. It will communicate directly to the radio of April of Auburn Hills."

"You guys are going to have to fight your way to that radio," said Carol. "First things first, I need O-negative blood."

"We can't fight," said Steve. "We're not fighters."

"You want to save this place don't you? Well, you have to be willing to fight to keep this place."

Carol unlocked the cell where Steve and Patchy Drizzle were in. However, Steve remained in place, unsure about what to do.

"I know you're scared. I was too. Many times. But I lost all those places that I fought for because we didn't have enough people. But this place? We have more than enough people. We can't lose it. Out of every place I lived in… this is the one I'm happy to call home… so I'm going to fight like hell to make sure we keep it… or die trying."

Steve took a deep breath and walked out of the cell. He looked at Carol and nodded before grabbing a pistol from the cart of weapons.

Patchy smirked as he pocketed his revolver.

"We're going to fight together, eh?" remarked Patchy.

"No, not you," said Carol. "You have to follow me to the infirmary. Ravi needs your blood."

"He's one of them cops, right? He's the reason I'm here. Like hell I'm going to help him."

Carol opened up another cell. Katherine Mulligan, Girl Jordan, and some others walked out.

"I know how you feel," said Carol. "I got arrested too. But right now, Schoffner and Ravi are not our enemies. We want the same thing and that is to stop the Vultures. Maria is entrusting me to find people who can save Tim and Ravi. You're A-negative, right?"

"I am. Why the hell can't you take Clancy instead?"

"He'd attract too much attention."

"Maybe I can help," said a low voice from the cell across Clancy's.

Carol turned around and looked at Roamer Monica's head growling at the prisoner inside the cell. Zheng's hair hung low, covering his face sunken in shame.

"I got O-negative blood."

Carol smirked angrily.

"Yeah? You?" asked Carol.

"What? You don't believe me?" asked Zheng.

Carol opened up Zheng's cell and pointed her snub revolver at the prisoner in front of her.

Zheng looked back, unflinching.

"Why should I believe you?" asked Carol.

"I lost everything. There's nothing to gain from lying to you."

"There's nothing to lose."

"Well… I do want to kill Becky myself… so if you catch me lying… you can just kill me and stop me from giving that bitch what she deserves."

Carol aimed her revolver at the roamer head in the floor, whose growls were stopped at the moment Carol fired her revolver at it.

Zheng flinched as blood splattered from Roamer Monica's skull. He then clenched his fists and closed his eyes.

"Please… y'all have to let me kill her. Or at the very least… let me see y'all kill her."

"Very well," said Carol. "Follow me then. Patchy, you're free to go."

Carol tossed the keys to Patchy.

"Unlock the rest of the cells."

Patchy nodded.

Carol handcuffed Zheng's arms in front of him. She then grabbed a rifle, a few smoke grenades, and some ammunition.

"Follow along and we'll live, okay?"

"Fine," said Zheng.

"Great."

Carol put on her helmet and walked Zheng out of the jail center.

A few Vultures stormed into the police station as Carol hid Zheng by the back door. Only one of them was wearing riot gear though.

Carol took a deep breath as she prepared to act scared. She then came out of the hallway and into the office room.

"The attackers broke everyone out!" cried out Carol.

The Vultures ran towards the hallway that led to the jail center.

"You alright?" asked the Vulture with the riot gear.

Carol nodded before sticking her trench knife up through the Vulture's jaw. While keeping her grip on the knife, she drew her snub-nosed revolver out and fired at the other two Vultures, killing them before they could open the door to the jail center.

The Vulture gagged as the knife cut through her tongue and nose. However, she tried to grab the knife though Carol pulled it out. Carol then aimed her revolver at the Vulture's blood-stained helmet visor and fired it, dropping the Vulture.

Carol walked through the back door, reloading her revolver as she motioned to Zheng to continue following her.

Kamil whistled as he and his two Vultures leaned against the walls next to a door at the end of the stairway. The door appeared to be locked, so Kamil grabbed his hammer and began smashing the doorknob apart.

Upon breaking the doorknob, he kicked the door open and stormed inside the room, along with the other Vultures. However, their flashlights revealed nothing but an empty room with only a mattress.

He looked back at his Vultures and shook his head.

"We have to spread out," said Kamil.

The Vultures nodded. They walked out of the room, now checking on the neighboring rooms. One of the Vultures entered through a room, seeing Jace's belongings. The other Vulture came across a locked door. He grabbed his crowbar and began prying the door open.

Kamil walked to the end of a hallway, entering a bathroom. He shined his flashlight but found no one inside.

Haley took a deep breath as she remained still next to the twins and the children.

Polly hummed as she looked around the first floor. The entire place was dark, so she shined her flashlight around to light it up. She then gasped as she skated back to the light switch and flicked it on. Suddenly, the entire living room was bright.

"Huh," said Polly. "I forgot the lights work. Hey, guys! Remember— this house has power! Just turn on the lights and save the batteries on your flashlights!"

"Got it!" exclaimed Kamil.

Polly smiled to herself.

"How convenient," she remarked.

She then rolled up to a window on the living room, seeing her own reflection, though it was darkened by the lack of light outside of the house. She caressed her face before looking at the stains of blood on the tip of her fingers. She looked back at the reflection, realizing how noticeable the blood stains on her face were. Then, in an instant, she grabbed a couch and shoved it as hard as she could, launching herself away from the window. A gunshot resounded throughout the living room and a bullet flew past her, shattering the window.

Lynn growled as she came out of the kitchen, holding her pistol. She ran towards the living room, aiming her sidearm where Polly was supposed to be at, but there was no one there.

The Vultures gasped before Kamil ran towards the stairwell.

"Keep looking for the others!" said Kamil.

Kamil ran down the stairs, prompting Lynn to fire off another shot, one nearly striking him. He stumbled and fell on his back, though he retained his grip on the stair rail guard.

Lynn then ran into a bedroom where she was suddenly tackled by Polly.

The Vulture with the crowbar pried the door to Haley's room open and entered, now turning on the lights.

Lily wanted to gasp, but Quinn kept her mouth closed with her hands.

Haley kept her grip on the knife, able to watch the Vulture walk around the room through the slits in the closet door.

The other Vulture, holding a knife, inside another unlocked room, finding it lacking furniture besides a mattress. Just as he turned around, Aiden stepped out from the closet and wrapped the wire around the Vulture's neck and pulled him back into the room.

Aiden grunted as the two stumbled into the floor, with him gasping at the pain his wound gave him. However, he still continued to wrap the wire cord around the Vulture's neck and pulled as hard as he could. However, the Vulture simply cut the wire cord with his knife, freeing himself from suffocation. But before the Vulture could regain his breath, Aiden slammed the lamp rod against his head, causing the Vulture to drop his knife. Aiden then grabbed the Vulture's helmet and pulled it off as the Vulture attempted to grab his knife. Just as the Vulture turned around, Aiden shoved the tip of the lamp rod into his face, tearing into his nose and splitting it apart.

The Vulture screamed as the sharp wooden tip splintered into his face. Aiden then pulled out the rod, causing blood to flow from the Vulture's split nose and slammed it against his face again, breaking into his face deeper, this time taking out the Vulture's left eye. With the lamp rod tip stuck in the Vulture's eye socket, Aiden yelled as he put his entire body weight onto the flat base of the lamp rod, shoving the rod deeper into the Vulture's face, splattering his brain apart.

Aiden rolled over and took short, rapid breaths as he looked up at the ceiling. The light from the light bulb seemed blurry to him.

Meanwhile, the Vulture in Haley's room turned around and raised his crowbar, getting ready to step outside of the room to fight Aiden. However, gunshots coming from the attic caused the Vulture to change course. The Vulture looked up at the roof access door and pulled down on it, opening up the stairway that led to the attic.

But before the Vulture walked up the attic, Kamil met up with him, panting deeply.

"We have to stick together," said Kamil. "Otherwise… they're gonna pick us off one by one."

The Vulture nodded before being shot through his riot helmet, dropping his body instantly.

Luna then aimed her rifle at Kamil.

Kamil gasped as he backed up into Haley's room. He slammed the door shut, but was unable to lock it secure due to the door having been pried open. As he heard footsteps, he looked for somewhere to hide. He then opened the closet, causing Lily and Tucker to scream.

Kamil flinched before Haley lunged forward with a knife. He swung his hammer, hitting Haley in the arm and causing her to drop her knife.

Haley groaned as she fell on the ground.

Kamil lifted his hammer and prepared to break open Haley's skull before being tackled by Quinn.

"Don't touch her!" yelled Quinn.

"Oh my god," gasped Finn.

Kamil groaned as he punched Quinn in the face with his glove, causing Quinn to release him. He then reached for his hammer before Finn tackled him too.

"Don't touch her!" yelled Finn.

Kamil elbowed Finn away from himself before seeing a terrified Lily and Tucker witnessing the scene.

Haley groaned as she struggled to grip her knife properly due to her arm stiffening from the hammer wound. She then watched as Kamil walked towards the kids in the closet.

"No!" she exclaimed.

The fire outside of City Hall continued to burn as Carol and Zheng walked away from the back parking lot of the police station. They took a northern street, the street above Franklin Street, to avoid attention. However, there were some Vultures mobilizing through the street as they heard gunshots coming from Haley's house down the street. They switched directions and headed for the other direction, towards Franklin Street.

They avoided looking at the pile of fire and kept the light on their back as they quickly made their way towards the end of Franklin Street. They passed by Maya's body, which Zheng gulped at the sight of seeing. He shivered, realizing just how little he knew about the true nature of Becky and her Vultures.

Suddenly, the same Vulture from earlier that questioned Carol came up to her again.

"Hey, what's the prisoner doing outside of his cell?" asked the Vulture.

"Becky has orders for me to bring him to the infirmary," said Carol, keeping her head low.

"I thought we weren't supposed to let him out at all."

"So everyone knew," said Zheng.

The Vulture shook her head in anger before looking at Carol again.

"Hey, wait. It's you from earlier."

"Yeah," said Carol.

"W-Who are you? I'm having trouble recognizing you. Can you take off the helmet?"

"Look, I have to do this as fast as possible. Becky… well, she's not happy with me."

"That's alright then… the night will be over soon."

Carol stared at the Vulture, who took off her helmet, before Zheng chimed in.

"And the sun will be rising soon," said Zheng.

The Vulture raised her pistol and pointed it at Zheng.

"Shut the fuck up," she said. "Does this chink speak for you… Ms…?"

Carol felt her heart beating fast as she knew the Vulture was suspecting her now at this point.

"Ms–" said Carol before drawing her revolver out.

The gunshot resounded throughout the town as blood splattered out of the Vulture's head.

A nearby Vulture gasped before Carol aimed her gun at her, firing two bullets into her, killing her.

Another Vulture drew out her pistol before receiving a gunshot to the chest then the throat.

"Jesus," muttered Zheng.

"Come on, we gotta hurry," said Carol.

Carol opened up one of the smoke grenades and tossed it to the ground, allowing to expel a smoke screen.

Zheng smiled before following Carol as the two jogged away from the three bodies, disappearing into the smoke.

Lynn growled as she tried to release herself from Polly's grip. She rolled around, slamming Polly against the wall, though her grip still remained strong.

"Let… me… go!" yelled Lynn.

"I can't," said Polly.

Polly switched positions and clasped her hands together. She now had Lynn in a lock.

"You said no one can break out of this lock," said Polly. "So I'll just hold you here until the other Vultures come!"

A pair of Vultures approached Haley's house. However, one of them was shot in the skull, causing the other to run away. But it was a futile attempt as Luna sniped her in the back, causing her to drop to the pavement of the road.

Luna continued to move her sniper rifle around, firing at other nearby Vultures.

Lynn yelled as she grabbed one of Polly's fingers and pulled back with immense strength, snapping it.

Polly screamed as she released Lynn, holding on to her broken finger.

Lynn then stood up and grabbed Polly before slamming her against the wall.

"Yeah, in wrestling…" said Lynn, "but in a street fight… anything goes, asshole!"

Polly grunted as she tried headbutting Lynn by shoving her head back. However, Lynn was dodging her attempted headbutts. Polly then screamed before slamming her head forward, using her helmet to slam through the wall. This caused Lynn to stumble forward and hit the wall headfirst. This sudden slam caused Lynn to release Polly as Polly pulled her head away from the wall.

Polly gasped as she shoved herself away from the wall, launching herself away from the bedroom and out into the living room.

Lynn grabbed her pistol and ran out the bedroom, seeing Polly opening the front door. She fired her pistol, though it only shot one bullet before running out of ammo. The bullet only struck the door that Polly opened.

Polly skated out the porch and leaped into the walkway in the front lawn before making it to the road.

Lynn ran out the front door and tried to chase after Polly, but she was moving far too fast for her. Not attempting to chase after her, Lynn ran back into the house.

Tucker tried closing the closet door, but Kamil slammed his hammer against it, snapping the hinges apart.

Lily began crying as Kamil slammed the closet doors open.

Quinn stood up in an attempt to tackle Kamil again, but before she knew it, Kamil grabbed Lily's shirt.

Lily flailed her arms, slapping Kamil in the face before he turned her around and lifted her.

"Don't follow me," said Kamil.

Kamil stepped back, holding by the shirt, dragging her with him as she cried out.

Quinn gasped, feeling terrified and guilty as she simply stood there helplessly.

Kamil reached for the doorknob and opened the door without looking back.

Aiden placed his hand on Kamil's helmet and slammed Kamil's head against the door frame. As Kamil stumbled to the floor, he released Lily, causing her to run back inside Haley's room.

Aiden removed Kamil's helmet and threw a tired punch onto Kamil's face.

Kamil, already exhausted from fighting off the others, took the punch as a heavy punch. He groaned and collapsed to the floor before Aiden lifted the riot helmet. However, Aiden looked up and saw Lily staring back at him while in Quinn's arms.

"You… no… you shouldn't…" muttered Aiden.

Aiden sighed before dragging Kamil away from the door frame. He then closed the door.

"Wait… wait!" exclaimed Kamil from the other side of the door.

Kamil screamed as the sounds of thudding could be heard.

Quinn closed Lily's ears as the two girls panted heavily, tears coming out of their eyes.

Finn held on to his bruised jaw, flinching at the sound of each hard thud and scream.

Haley crawled towards Tucker and held him close to her, comforting him as the thuds and splurts continued.

Kamil's screams faded as the sound of bone breaking and flesh being torn apart could be heard.

After a minute, Aiden could be heard breathing hard.

Aiden then opened the door, the light from the room only revealing Kamil's armor-clad legs before Aiden closed the door. Aiden then closed his eyes and stumbled forward, causing Finn to grab him before he collapsed completely.

Aiden muttered some words before going unconscious.

"What did he say?" asked Quinn.

"A negative?" remarked Finn. "I don't know."

Haley grabbed Aiden and helped Finn move him into bed.

"My goodness…" whispered Haley.

"Is it over now?" asked Quinn.

Luna walked down the attic stairs and felt chills go up her spine as she and Lynn looked at the same body that lay before them. Kamil's face was horribly disfigured as a blood-stained helmet with a broken visor lay next to him.
