Chapter 9 A sarcastic truth
Ginny's point of view
2 weeks later, the day after we returned to school from Christmas Break.
"Virginia"
"Shane Brandon"
"You spent Christmas and New Year with the Starks?"
"Yes. Your parents didn't want me there, I didn't want to be there and Tony was gracious enough to offer"
Shane's face clouded. He pulled a girl from behind him
"Let her hear the tape."
"Mom… there's a girl at school. Her name is Ginny and I think she's being mistreated at home. Her cousins get care packages from home all the time, and she doesn't, and they are incredibly mean to her. She's staying at school for Christmas, one of the teachers always stays but that's not fair"
"You could always invite her to stay with us for Christmas Tony"
"That's a fantastic idea mom, thank you"
I turned toward where Tony and his brothers were sitting, I pulled him onto his feet and slapped him hard
"Just so that you know Anthony Edward Stark, I am NOT a charity case, I don't need you fawning all over me like some kind of a pet project and I don't appreciate you telling your mother about me like that"
"Ginny, Tony didn't mean any harm by it" said Bruce
I was too angry to even look at them.
"You don't know what it's like. To have to fight to be allowed to learn. I could read and write by the time I arrived at the McMahons when I was 4. My godmother reluctantly agreed to homeschooling me with the others but then Shane needed more help so I was left to my own devices a lot. Then Stephanie came alone and once she got past the snivelling baby stage, and became a proper little human I started teaching her the basics. She caught on quickly. My godparents were gone a lot. My godmother worked in Washington till I was 7 and my godfather is a wrestling promoter and commentator so he's on the road a lot. Aunt Linda is abusive to all of us. She is sarcastic and cold to Uncle Vince, and he doesn't really get sarcasm since he's severely Dyslexic, so he doesn't actually realise that he's being abused. His best friend is not a good person at all though Uncle Vince trusts him implicitly, so maybe I shouldn't judge him too harshly… he reminds me a lot of my biological father though."
Letting out a weak sigh I said
"If anyone needs me I'll be in my room"
I turned on my heel and began to march towards the assembly hall door.
