2020 was coming to an end at last. Merlin had lived through a lot during his 1500 years alive, yet this was proving to be the worst year yet. The strong weather around the UK was in no way unusual, yet adding it on to the 2020 meant that it could be anything. Could the year be salvaged with only days left to go?

Set in His Father's Son, Merlin's thoughts when he sees Arthur murder King Carleon are far from happy. Sometimes Merlin wonders if Arthur is indeed the Once and Future King, and this is one of those doubtful moments.

"Why do you keep saving me?" Arthur's voice was tired. He had so many people trying to kill him, that he sometimes wondered what went wrong.

While passing a mysterious lake, Arthur and the Knights are drawn in by an allure they can't describe. Only Merlin and Lancelot are immune to it, but while trying to protect their friends from an unknown threat, Lancelot might end up the prey for what lurks beneath.

Merlin never gets Christmas cards, but when one shows up on his kitchen counter, he has to open it up. Or how gifts come with strings and Santa Claus isn't always a great guy and dealing with an Arthur reborn isn't what Merlin thought it would be.
