PROLOGUE

Nine months ago on the shores of the reincarnated.

To have peace there must be strife; both are part of the structure of the world and requirements.

Egyptian Book of the Dead

What's my name? I do not remember it as much as I try, as I move slowly to the red sea's surface, only to breach it. My body heaves as I pull myself to the surface coughing, as I breach the red waters, pulling himself on to land, feeling everything ache.

I breath in deeply, only to throw up all over the sand, before lying painfully on it on my back. I'm dressed in nothing but my underpants.

The man lay there for what felt like an eternity, looking at the star-filled sky before getting up slowly, looking at his muscular body, still remembering nothing. He crawled forward to eye his reflection in the sea which smelt like blood, looking at his face which seemed to be in his thirties, he had a beard and hair but they were blonde. Funny how he remembered them not being that, even though he couldn't remember his own name.

Had he not had dark hair in his life time, the life time he did not remember? He looked up, coughing again as he saw what looked like a huge temple in the far distance, out to sea, made of pure black stone and two huge frozen statues in front of it, like guardians. One demonic, One almost angelic; yet where was he? Some island far off it, with broken and shattered buildings, yet it's all covered in trees and grass beyond the beach, the trees are even wrapping into the buildings. Why couldn't he remember everything and where was he? Some barren void where humanity no longer existed, was he even alive or was it all just a crooked rebirth?

"Hey did you see that? Some fucking guy, he just crawled out the red ocean!"

He turned, seeing people running over, looking at him in pure confusion. "Who are you?" The first man eyed him, looking even more confused. "Who are you?" He looked at his hand, breathing in, deeply feeling the tears come. "I don't remember." The woman opposite moved forward, uncertain by this turn of events. "Oh hey it's okay, we won't hurt you. We are the archaeologist team from the other island. This one seemed to rise up afterwards, we were studying it."

She paused, her words cut off as an official Egyptian Embassy Sikorsky S-76 helicopter appeared in the air. It slowly descended, kicking up dust in its wake as it landed on the pad where their helicopters and planes were stationed so they could go to the other island. "What are they doing here?" The man next to her shrugged. "That's Mene's helicopter, he has wild official power over in Egypt. No clue what he's doing here."

He watched as Menes stepped out in his typical Egyptian god-like clothes, walking towards them as he stopped, speaking calmly. "I see you found my missing diplomat, I need to take him home now." He pulled out his papers. "The official papers are here, he belongs on the council but vanished during the attack on America by the demon unit." The woman took it looking at him. "Really? This is his name? And how did you even know he would be here right now, right this second?"

Menes breathed in, raising a gold ringed hand as he adjusted his visor. "Yes, it's his name and I doubt he will be your last. The sea will soon be brimming with souls, you may want to call in officials from all over the world to help. As to your other question, it's far too high above your pay grade" The woman blinked. "Wait, you mean he's reincarnated? As in, he is one of the ones that died?" Menes eyed the temple island in the far distance. "The temple of the divine holds many secrets and your worldwide teams have long work ahead of you."

He paused, pulling out a gold credit card. "Though I would prefer you and your team keep his coming out of the ocean a secret, we'll pay you handsomely for your silence, it will help fund your other digs worldwide. You can report everything to the rest of the world when the next ones come out, it won't be long." The man took the credit card. "We'll take it as the angel unit ruined our dig over in Morocco by fucking healing everything. She caused five years' worth of ruins to get covered up again!"

Menes breathed in deeply. "Well, now that we understand each other, I want you both to leave so I can talk to the young man, he is very sad and I'm here to help." He watched as they both left, Dante had wanted all the mortals attention to be elsewhere that was what he had ordered. He walked over to the blonde man who was still crying. He leaned over, putting his hand on his shoulder, changing his language to Egyptian knowing he'd understand it. "It's okay, my son. Your god finds you well."

The blonde haired man looked up at him, even more confused. "Who are you?" Menes moved to stand in front of him, kneeling down, checking no one was around. "I think we both know each other, I brought you here." He lowered his visor, feeling the burning as his true soul burnt through his eyes. "Death is but a doorway to a new life, we live today we shall live again, in many forms shall we return."

He watched as an understanding drew across the man's face as he wiped his tears away. "Anubis." Menes reached out his hand moving his visor back into place. "Come now Christopher, it's time for you to come back to Egypt with me." He stood up, watching as the big tall man followed him, it had all worked out as he had planned, and now this man was on his side and was loyal to him as he had passed the trials of Duat and now bore the golden hair and green eyes of his rebirth. Once he had his tattoo marks he would be truly unrecognisable.

Dubai Atlantis Palm Hotel Five months ago

Aazim moved towards the meeting room, slowly raising his gun along with Khadija, who also had her gun up high seeing that the Dubai special ops were following. Even from here he could see blood pouring under the door to the meeting room. He breathed in, getting close to the door. Everyone had fled an hour ago when the screaming had started, staff and holiday goers alike. He nodded to Khadija, who nodded as they both got ready as the special ops put on their laser guided sights.

He took in a deep breath and smashed the door open, only to lower his gun in shock horror at the sight in front of them. Twelve human skeletons still sitting in chairs, all in screaming positions, all covered in blood, no clothing just bloody bones with tendons still attached. Of the two windows, one was covered in blood, and the other had been smashed. A woman, the only one with an intact body, had been pushed through it, only to fall, smashing into the floor below, causing the whole commotion along with the raining blood that followed.

He breathed in deeply, lowering his gun as they came in to the room. "What the fuck is this!?" Khadija breathed in as the special ops came in to the room. "So much for a weapon or a terrorist this is some ungodly shit show…" She paused. "What even did this? It's unholy! It's like the goddess Durga had fun with them!" Aazim moved closer to a body. "Well, it's not the bomb weapon they used in Tokyo Three that cooks people, this is something else."

He looked up. "Who was the woman who got tossed out the window?" Khadija breathed, in adjusting her suit. "Orino Nomura, a spy from Japan who worked for the terrorist group Ankh. She was on their most wanted list, but they're still scraping what's left of her out of the restaurant where her body landed." She paused. "Hachiro Yoshida was her best friend and close confidant, but he was murdered last week. They said his guts were painting the walls over in California, in the Evergreen Lodge at Yosemite."

She breathed in deeply. "Whoever killed him really made him suffer…" She eyed the bodies. "They believe he was alive for a least a number of hours before dying and they think his insides were pulled out slowly but not fast enough to kill him or put him in shock." She slowly put her gun away as the ops started to search the whole room. "Here's the weird thing, though: after his death all his money was taken cleaned out, but he was dead after that, and his card had retina scan, but his eye wasn't missing from his body."

Aazim looked up. "Wait, they said a Chinese prisoner was also killed in prison but she was left as bones like these miserable fuckers. I thought they were exaggerating till I saw this, no other prisoners were touched, they don't know how anyone got into the room, it was locked. Her name was Akane Chisaka a former assistant of the Japanese prime minster and her money got cleaned out, and we are talking millions, after she died."

Khadija raised her hand. "Stands to reason then that everyone in this room will be cleaned out in the next few hours. We should have that be monitored by our authorities." Aazim put a hand on his face. "The world wide authorities need to know about this, we have some kind of insane killer on our hands who likes to do really fucked up things to people, plus there has to be a connection between all these people."

One of the Ops spoke through his mask. "Area is secured sir, it's not clear how this person left this room, but it's empty. We are going to check the other rooms around it." Aazim grabbed his radio. "Okay, area is secured, I need all the medics in here and a DNA scanner we have twelve dead bodies here and I have no idea who these people are!" The special ops woman opposite nodded. "Yes sir."

Island Of The Divine Temple one month ago

It's so beautiful, it's like nothing you've ever witnessed. The city, the spire; it's godly and divine and pictures do it no justice. Once you're in it's presence is indescribable. It's the tallest spire in the whole of humanity's existence, and things that we are desperate to comprehend. It could take a life time or more to study the statues, the city and this temple and I can't wait to start nor can any of the others from the world wide teams.

Santiago watched as the scanning robots started to scan the huge black temple; it would probably take them weeks to get to the top of the pillar. All the archaeologists from all over the world now had full permission to enter the huge island which had been delayed due to what was going on the second Island out to sea, where people had now been coming out for months. It meant there was now a whole other team there and boats to ferry people home.

Every time they came out of the sea they had no memory of who they were and some were coming out with their pets as well, and animals from zoos were also appearing so it was a huge co-ordinated effort from all the countries, bringing in ships with Nerv staff over seeing things while Oculus helped with the animals and, pets making sure they were sent to new zoos or back out in to the wild and the pets given back to owners re-chipped.

There had been no new terror attacks in months and Nerv central was almost fully rebuilt as was Tokyo Three. The United States was still rebuilding and New York, or the living Isles of gods as it was called, had not been touched yet. It was impossible to work on, as the trees were everywhere. After the angelic god had healed it, it had also become difficult to get inside the forest as it was as thick and as high as a rainforest. It could take years to clear the forest and there were already arguments going on that it should be a holy site.

Meanwhile, all the naturalists and Oculus were desperate to get in there, as the Eos space station had captured images of life growing there. New flowers, new species; they had even seen bison leaving the huge rain forest in herds heading towards the Great Plains which were re-growing as Second Impact had really hurt their numbers. That was on top of weather changes all over the world, the global warming was lessening and oceans were healing on mass, as were forests all over the world.

Isabella's voice suddenly cut through his thoughts. "Something is wrong!" Santiago turned just in time to see his scanner bots suddenly all fall from the wall, hitting the ground. He blinked in confusion. "What's going on? Did someone forget to charge them?!" Another woman looked up. "They were charged fine, they just lost power." Santiago watched as the team from France looked up as a woman spoke coldly. "Yeah we already tried that… same thing happened to our robots… happened to the British team and United States team as well."

Santiago breathed in annoyance. "A heads up would have helped, you know!" The French woman shrugged. "It may have escaped your notice but all our governments care about is who gets those huge temple doors open first. Up until then we are not a huge team…." Isabella gave her a look of disgust. "Clearly nothing changes for some people, even if the world nearly ended… we heard you also took a bribe from Egyptian UN official Menes when you were on the other island before everyone else."

The French woman shrugged. "That's none of your business." Santiago ignored her, walking up to the huge bolted black doors which towered over everything. He eyed the sides, seeing that there were hand prints impressions, eight in total but two prints that looked non-human, one on either side of the door. They had paw impressions. He slowly and carefully put his hand inside one, only for nothing to happen. He pulled away. "Hey Isabella, can you get the moulding paste? I want to make copies of all the hand prints cause six look human but the two on either side of the door don't, they look animalistic."

End of part 1

Silvermoonlight.

Sorry for the very long delay and getting back to this, after a very serious food poisoning in 2022 I was hospitalized twice, add to this I was told it would be a two-year recovery as it had really messed with my organs and guts. So I spent most of 2022 and 2023 playing catch up writing one shots I promised in 2022.

Please note these chapters will be done slowly to ensure the quality is good.

Also thank you to YourBlandestNightmare, Born2walken Deathbringer374 and asushipper and many others on Rommels discord for the ever present support and helping me get back on the writing horse. Thank you also YourBlandestNightmare for beta reading this chapter.
