Cosmic Era 71, in the vast void of space and close to the atmosphere of the planet earth. Nothing can be heard from there as there is nothing but silence.
The space is vast and voided of life whatsoever, what could be found are only the stars, the other planets, the moon, the sun, satellites, and a vast amount of mobile suit wreckages.
Upon a moment, there is only silence, but it quickly disappeared when a huge blast of destruction appeared out of nowhere.
Zooming into the location of the destruction, there is a battle between the forces of ZAFT, and the Earth Alliance. The war between the two factions was gruesome and chaotic to the point that the former decided to use a deadly weapon called the Genesis that could've destroyed everything upon earth.
However, the crisis of destruction was averted when the Archangel, the Kusanagi, and the Eternal forged an alliance and stopped everything.
Athrun Zala who piloted the Justice Gundam, initiated his mobile suit's self destruct sequence and escaped with his lover Cagalli Yula Atha on her Strike Rouge. The nuclear explosion of the Gundam collided with the Genesis' self-destruct and cause a blast that confronted one another.
On another side, Kira Yamato; the Ultimate Coordinator piloting the Freedom Gundam had fought vigorously against Rau Le Creust in his Providence Gundam. Both Pilots fought with the intent to kill one another and it ended with the young man victorious against the mad man.
Right now, the battle of Jachin Due ended in peace as both ZAFT and Earth Alliance forces have retreated after making a truce between one another. But even with the peace obtained, there is worry for the one who defeated the mad man responsible for causing it.
By the location of where Genesis had once been, Tori flew around in space as the mechanical bird flew pass the wreckages before it came flying near the wreckage of the Freedom that is in terrible shape. The Gundam lost its head, parts of its wings, right arm, and right leg while also being deactivated. However, the pilot is not inside the cockpit because after the blast from Genesis, Kira was flung out of his mobile suit and immobilized while floating in space.
Kira floats in space, as he just stays there while staring at the stars, the earth, and the sun.
"why…why have we come to such a place?" Kira whispers as he shed some tears while the ring of his necklace floats in his helmet. The young man keeps on staring at the stars before he slowly closed his eyes. "What world will we be in now?"
Slowly but surely, the darkness came for Kira as he started to hear nothing and see nothing but black darkness that spread in his vision before becoming pure white.
Time passes on as it is time for the morning sun to come.
Ringing is heard as it is coming from an alarm clock that just rings loudly upon the person sleeping on a bed beside it. That person is none other than Kira who is groaning because of the ringing.
Kira lies on the bed while only wearing a black shirt, and a pair of greyish white shorts.
"ugh…so…loud…" Kira mumbled out as he tried to sleep through the sound but the ringing noise keeps on echoing, so he waves a hand to the side, trying to find the source and when he touched the alarm clock, he hit the snooze and stopped the ringing. Afterwards the young man opened his eyes that squinted a few times before they slowly opened with a hazy vision that was soon blinded by light coming from a window nearby. "w-where?" he groans while shielding his eyes and sitting up on the bed. "where is?"
Kira looks around as he finds himself in a room filled with typical teenager items like a PC, plastic cases for CDs, posters about robots, a bookshelf filled with random items, a tv with a game console attached to its port, and messy clothes by an opened closet.
"Whose room is this?" Kira asks as he slowly gets off the bed while trying to think on the answer on where he is. He checks around the room before he spots a table that has several framed pictures of him with many people. "this is?"
Kira goes to the table and checks the first frame, and it is a photo of him with Athrun when they were slightly younger than his current age, both are wearing red and blue basketball jerseys with black shorts and the young man is holding up a basketball in hand.
"this one is…" Kira muttered as he puts down the first frame and then checks the second that has a photo of him along with the rest of his friends back at Heliopolis but they are wearing Japanese middle School uniforms and looks to have just graduated. "and this one." The next frame is a photo of him with Cagalli in their current age and both are with two people he never met but have seen before. "that's.." he looks at one of the two people as one of them is the photo of his own mother, Via Hibiki. "My Mother…" he glances at the other person who is a man. "then that means he's…"
Kira had never personally met him, but he knew the man as the one person who changed his and his twin's life and that person is none other than his father, Ulen Hibiki. However, he can't help but get the feeling that something is strange or just different when he looks at the photo of his father in his hand.
"Kira~! Cagalli~! Hurry and wake up~! Breakfast is ready~!" a voice called out to Kira and it's a voice that he isn't familiar with.
"Who?" Kira muttered before he walks to the door and heads out. "this place is?"
Kira looks around as he is in a room by the side of a hallway where at one end there are stairs leading down and at the other end there is another room with the sign 'Cagalli'
"Cagalli?" Kira whispers before he goes to the room and knocks on it twice. "Cagalli? Are you in there?"
Kira knocks on the door twice before he proceeds to push it open.
When he enters the room, he finds that it's messy and rather boyish themed.
Rockstar posters plastered to the wall, the windows were shaded, the color of the blankets and everything else is blackish red, and there's messy clothes everywhere.
"and I though the room I was in was dirty…" Kira muttered before he hears groaning from the bed as he turns and finds Cagalli coming out from under the blanket while only wearing an oversized red shirt with a rockstar band image on front. "Cagalli!"
"ugh? Huh?" Cagalli yawns as she scratches her head while looking a bit in a daze. She then turns and looks at Kira who is looking at him in confusion and surprise. "Kira? What is it?" she yawns again. "it's too early…"
"hey, Cagalli! Don't fall back asleep!" Kira quickly went and stops his twin from falling asleep, he shakes her shoulders a few times. "Cagalli, where are we!?"
"w-where? Aren't we on the Kusanagi?" Cagalli replied all drowsy as she rubbed her eyes a few times and then looks around the room she is in before back to Kira. "see? We're in the Kusanagi, right?"
"we're not on the Kusanagi or the Archangel or the Eternal!" Kira cried out. "we're somewhere else!"
Cagalli looks at Kira for a moment before her eyes slowly widens when realization hits her.
"W-What!?" Cagalli nearly screamed as she finally realized that she was in a complete stranger's room. "Where!? Where are we!?"
"Hey! Cagalli! Don't scream in the first of morning!" the voice called out once again as it sounded closer than before. "young lady! If you don't wake up with your brother, your breakfast will get cold and you will be late for school!"
Kira and Cagalli looks at the opened door, both very confused and a bit alarmed to hear the other person's voice and how it was familiar with them.
"Kira, who was that?" Cagalli asks her brother who shakes his head in response.
"I don't know, but I'm guessing that whoever that is. She might know where we are." Kira replied as he looks at the hallway before to Cagalli. "let's try to go easy and find out what's going on."
"alright." Cagalli nodded before getting off her bed.
Soon, the twins went down the stairs as they find themselves entering the first floor of a house that looks very Japanese in interior decoration and design.
"just where are we?" Cagalli asks while looking around as she finds a living room, a corner bathroom, a kitchen, and a dining room which has a table filled with a healthy breakfast meal such as eggs, bacon, and toast accompanied with glasses of milk and orange juice. "Whose house is this?"
"Looks like we're in one of those Japan local home, right?" Kira asks and Cagalli nodded in agreement.
"hey, you two! Stop standing there and eat your breakfast!" a voice called out and footsteps followed. Kira and Cagalli looked at who was coming, and they look in total surprise because there came Via Hibiki, their biological mother who stands before them while wearing a simple yellow shirt, shorts, and wears a red apron while holding up a greasy spatula. "you're going to be late for school, you know!?"
"M-Mother?" Kira muttered out in confusion with his eyes wide. "how?"
"eh? Mother? Since when did you start calling me that, Kira?" Via asks with a confused face to her son. "you usually call me Mom and never mother." She then shakes her head before she goes and begins pushing Kira and Cagalli from behind. "but enough of that! It's already 7.30! hurry and eat your breakfast, clean yourself up, and get to school!"
"ah! Wait!" Cagalli cried out before she and Kira got forced to sit down on the dining table. "j-just a second!"
"no more wasting any second! Hurry and eat!" Via scolded her and Kira before she goes to the kitchen where there is a big pot of curry being cooked on a stove. "just after Summer Break, you two are getting too lazy in the house! You two need to grow up and be more mature!"
Kira and Cagalli looks at their mother before to each other, as they were thinking on how it is possible that they are meeting their deceased mother and how is it possible that she is with them right now.
"just how is she even here, Kira? I thought…" Cagalli whispered and Kira nodded.
"I know, but I don't think we can find our answers here." Kira replied as he glances at his mother before back to his sister. "for now, let's just try to act natural and go with what is going on."
"alright…" Cagalli nods before she and Kira begins to eat their breakfast together.
About 20 minutes later, outside of a local 2 story Japanese house, Kira and Cagalli came walking out of the house as they are wearing traditional Japanese school outfit that are white and purple in colors, and carrying their black school bag in hand.
"have a safe trip!" Via called out to the two while standing in front of the house's door.
"y-yes!" Kira replied as he and Cagalli walked away from the house.
After getting a few feet away from the house, Kira and Cagalli begins walking up a hill road by the side as they are just walking while looking very confused and bewildered on their current situation.
"First we wake up in some random house, we meet our deceased mother, and we're going to school?" Cagalli said as she looks very annoyed from the fact that she is wearing a skirt. "not only that, I have to wear a skirt?!"
"don't all girls going to school wear a skirt?" Kira told Cagalli before he sighs and looks at front. "but you're right. It's so confusing as to how we are here after we just left for space to stop Genesis."
"yeah." Cagalli nodded in agreement. She then looks to the sky with a frown. "Athrun set his mobile suit to self-destruct, hoping that its nuclear explosion can destroy Genesis before it sets off, and it worked." She stops and looks down. "but then…"
"but then?" Kira stops and turns to look at his twin. "what happened afterwards?"
"me and Athrun were away but we tried to find you when Genesis exploded." Cagalli spoke before she looks to be in pain with a hand to the side of her head. "but when we tried to find you…" she grunts in pain while leaning a bit forward. "we…"
"Cagalli?" Kira went to his sister and sees how much in pain she is because of the expression on her face. "Cagalli, what's wrong?"
"i….i can't remember." Cagalli said as she is getting flashbacks of the final battle of Jachin Due, but then everything went hazy and blurry. "I can't remember anything after Genesis exploded…" she started to wobble side to side, and Kira quickly held her shoulders to stop her from falling. "the more I'm trying to remember it…my head…h-hurts.."
"then stop." Kira said as he helps Cagalli stand up straight. "I also want to get answers on how we're here, but let's find out without getting yourself a headache."
"yeah…" Cagalli nodded while rubbing her forehead a few times before she looks at Kira. "I just hope that after the battle in space, Athrun and the others are alright."
"the same for me." Kira nodded as he prayed that his friends and especially Lacus are well and somewhere in the world with them.
At a local highschool named Hakuryo High School. Many students wearing similar outfits with Kira and Cagalli are walking in, greeting one another in the morning.
After leaving their house, Kira and Cagalli came walking to their school and stood at the front gate.
"Hey, Kira! Morning!" "Cagalli-san! We're counting on you to win today's match against Seitouka high!" "come on! Class is about to start in a few minutes!" some students passing by greeted and chatted with Kira and Cagalli who just nodded and answered rather awkwardly because they don't recognize any of them.
"we don't know this world, but there are people who know of us?" Kira muttered as he looks at Cagalli. "this is becoming more confusing by the second."
"I know." Cagalli nodded in agreement before she looks at the school building. "still, this is our school?" she checks the surroundings before turning towards Kira. "it looks rather subtle and standard, right?"
"Yeah." Kira nods in agreement as he looks at the nearby sign of the school that is written in pure Japanese Kanji. "still, it's rather strange that we are in such a world where we go to school like normal people.." he looks at his sister. "I mean, it would be understandable considering that we're teenagers and our age defines us as high schoolers and all."
"with everything peaceful…" Cagalli muttered before she looks at Kira. "Would that mean this world never had wars and anything alike?" she then looks down while scratching her chin and having a hard thinking look on her face. "if that's the case, what about Orb? Or the Earth Alliance? Or even ZAFT? Do they not exist at all?"
"I don't know." Kira shakes his head before he looks at the school once again. "Everything in this world is different from what we know and therefore there could be a change in history or whatsoever." He turns and looks at Cagalli.
"I guess we can find out in the library or a computer." Kira replied before he and Cagalli heard the bell ringing. "I guess that's the school bell."
"we better get to class and discuss this later." Cagalli said and Kira nodded.
Both begin walking into the school as they head straight for the main entrance but stopped when they realized something important.
'What grade am I in and where is my classroom?' The twins thought in unison as they didn't know what school year they are in, and they don't know where their classroom is located which leads to them starting to panic. 'what should I do!? I can't possibly ask someone about where my classroom is! They'll think I'm being weird and stuff, right?'
As the two were thinking of a way to get info on where their class is and everything, two people came and stopped near them.
"what's wrong, you two?" a male teen with short brown hair that is spiky yet straight and wears the same school uniform as Kira, came and greeted him while followed by a female teen who is a bit shorter than the male and has reddish pink hair that is in a pony tail and wears the female version of the school uniform like Cagalli. "feeling alright?"
"eh? Uh?" Kira and Cagalli turns to face the two as they look a bit troubled because of not knowing who they are. "w-well…that's…uhm.."
"what's wrong? You two don't look well?" the reddish pink hair girl asks them. "did you two get jetlag from your trip to America?"
"eh? America?" Cagalli made a confused noise. "What Trip?"
"What trip, she says." The guy spoke after sighing. "Do you want to boast your trip to America during summer break so much that you're going to pretend that you forget about it, Cagalli-san?"
"n-no…it's well…" Cagalli started to get more confused as her mind can't keep up with the whole scenario around her.
"y-yeah! We're a bit jetlag!" Kira spoke out while looking a bit awkward. "We still haven't adjusted ourselves in being back to Japan and we are forgetting things!" he laughs awkwardly while scratching the back of his head. "I now forget which class me and my sister are in."
"isn't that just awful?" The girl said after nodding her head twice and then smiling. "so as a reminder, your and Cagalli-san's class is at classroom 3B and that's our classroom as well, Kira-san."
"r-right…now I remember!" Kira said as he went and scratched his cheeks. "um….thank you…uh…what's your name…again?"
"Forgetting where your class is one thing but forgetting your own classmate's name is such a cruelty!" the girl cried out in shock while looking to have been shocked by lightning.
"s-sorry…" Cagalli spoke while scratching the back of her head. "he's not the only one…"
"GEEEHH~!?" the girl looks even more shocked before she dramatically faints upon her male companion who catches her with one hand.
"Just how can you guys forget about other people's names?" the guy asks Kira and Cagalli who just looks very awkward and embarrassed at the same time which made him sigh and then smile a bit. "Well, to refresh your minds. I'm Shirogane Takeru and she's Kagami Sumika." He motions his head towards the fainted girl when he mentioned the latter's name. "we're your classmates, so remember that."
"yes, sorry about that…" Kira and Cagalli apologizes in unison.
Sometime later, at Classroom 3-B.
Takeru and Sumika enters the classroom before Kira and Cagalli followed afterwards. The twins look a bit nervous and sceptical because they see a lot of unfamiliar faces around.
"it was great that we got some directions and all, but where do we seat?" Cagalli whispers to her brother, after getting help from Takeru and Sumika on where their classroom is at.
"I guess we should just look for our names stuck on the table?" Kira replied, pointing to pieces of paper sticked to the table, each one having the Japanese names of each student in the class. He then points to an empty table nearby that has a sticker with Cagalli's name written on it. "look, that one is yours."
"oh, I see it." Cagalli went to her table and sees that her name is Cagalli Hibiki instead of Cagalli Yula Atha. "this is going to be hard to get used to."
Kira went around to find his seat and he finds it at the middle row and at the very back of class.
'I haven't done things like this for a long time..' Kira thought as he opens his bag and takes out some books that he shelved into his desk. He then glances around to see the students in the class who are either doing some chatting with their friends or reading some books or just sleeping around. He smiles a bit when he had a memory of his time at Heliopolis with his friends and they had a good time studying or having fun together. 'I missed those days…'
As Kira reminisce about his good old days at Heliopolis, he hears a surprised gasps from behind and he turns around to see who made the sound before he made a surprised gasp himself because standing at the rear classroom entrance is none other than one of his good friends; Miriallia Hawke.
"K-Kira?" Miriallia muttered out with wide eyes.
"M-Miriallia?" Kira mumbled out before he stands up from his seat and faces. "Miriallia?!"
"it is you, Kira!" Miriallia said with a smile as she went and gave her friend a hug. "I'm so glad!"
Kira looks surprised at the hug before he smiles and returns it.
"don't I get a hug too?" Cagalli came into the scene, the blonde looking relieved to see Miriallia as well. "I mean, we are friends, right?"
Miriallia looks surprised at Cagalli first before she sighs with a smile and nodded.
"of course!" Miriallia said before she separated from the hug with Kira and then gave another one for Cagalli. "I'm so glad to see the both of you!" she separated for a moment to see the school uniform that her friend is wearing. "and I'm actually kinda glad to see you wearing a skirt for once, Cagalli."
"save the compliments on that." Cagalli said a bit annoyed before she smiles. "if you're here, then the others?"
"Wish I could say the same." Miriallia replied while shaking her head before turning to face Kira. "other than you guys, I haven't met anyone else." She looks back at Cagalli with a confused face. "can any of you guys tell me what's going on here? first I was at space now I'm on earth where I woke up in an unfamiliar house and in an unfamiliar bedroom where my mom and dad came and woke me up for school."
"Wish we could give you the answers that we want too." Cagalli replied while shrugging her shoulders and then scratches the back of her head. "Me and Kira are in the same situation as you are when we woke up this morning."
"I guess we all are." A figure spoke out while standing behind Cagalli who turns and gasps in surprise because standing behind her is none other than Athrun Zala who is smiling at her. "hey, Cagalli."
"Athrun!?" Kira, Cagalli, and Miriallia gasped in surprise.
"Athrun?! Is that really you?!" Cagalli exclaimed in shock as she looks at Athrun before she begins to pinch his arms a few times to make sure that he is really there. "as in, really you?"
"I am Athrun, Cagalli." Athrun said while stopping her from pinching him anymore. "I'm the real deal."
"we're glad to have you around with us." Kira said, smiling to his best friend who he shakes hand with. "it's been a bit of a confusing situation for all of us here."
"you're telling me." Athrun replied as he looks a bit awkward and unsure of something. "this morning, I woke up in a room and when I went to the kitchen…my deceased mother…"
Kira and the others look at Athrun and frowns a bit, knowing about how his mother passed away during the Bloody Valentine event.
"me and Cagalli are the same." Kira spoke out to Athrun with a small sad smile. "at our place…we met our deceased mother together…" he looks down and his smile grew a bit happy. "she was scolding us to get to school…like any ordinary mother and all.."
The air between the group is a bit awkward and silent, as the group got no idea what to talk after such a conversation.
"h-hey, how about we think on the positivity?" Miriallia spoke out with a bit of a tense voice. "I mean, we get to be with our parents after all, right?"
Kira, Cagalli, and Athrun looks at her before to each other and then smiled a bit before nodding.
"Our mother cooked us a big breakfast this morning." Kira said while scratching the back of his head. "Although she was telling us to hurry to go to school."
"The same with my mother." Athrun chuckled while smiling.
The group chuckled and laugh a bit before they hear the bell ringing once again.
"everyone! Time for homeroom session!" a teen girl wearing glasses and has brown hair in braided twin tails called out to the students in the classroom while going to her seat.
"let's converse later on." Athrun spoke to his friends. "let's all meet up with Dearka and the others at the school's rooftop during break."
"Dearka is here too!?" Miriallia said in surprise.
"along with Yzak, and Shiho as well." Athrun spoke. "I met them while on my way to class."
"Yzak?" "Shiho?" Kira, Cagalli, and Miriallia said in unison, the three not knowing who those names are.
"Shiho is a friend from another squad while Yzak is." Athrun explained as Cagalli and Miriallia nodded. The blue haired teen then turns towards Kira. "he's the Duel's pilot."
"The Duel…" Kira spoke out as he slowly hardens his gaze in remembering the escape shuttle's destruction at the hands of the Duel's pilot.
"Kira.." Cagalli frowns at her brother as she knows how Kira has been feeling guilty in failing to rescue the people on the escape shuttle.
"hey, you four! Hurry and sit down! Jinguuji-sensei is in the class now!" the brown haired girl exclaimed as a female teacher came walking in.
"y-yes!" the four replied.
"Kira, I know that you feel bad and that you're angry, but things aren't what they seemed to be." Athrun told Kira while placing a hand to his shoulder. "Alright?"
"y-yeah…" Kira nods a bit hesitantly. "right.."
Afterwards, the four split up and went to their respective seats.
"alright everyone~!" the teacher named Jinguuji Marimo called out to the students in the class who have seated. "let's start the Homeroom class with the attendance, alright?!"
"yes~!" the students replied but not Kira, who is in deep thought.
'The Duel' pilot?' the Ultimate Coordinator remembers the tragedy of the space shuttle's destruction.
A few hours later, the school's bell rang once again as Lunch break came.
The teachers left the classrooms temporarily to have their own lunch break, followed by the students who are going to go to the cafeteria to have lunch or hang around somewhere else to bring their own homemade lunch.
Athrun along with Cagalli, Kira, and Miriallia soon followed.
"come with me." Athrun told the others as he held a red napkin wrapped bento box that the others also carried but in different colors and shape. The man taking them to where the others are. "they should be heading to the school roof by now and.."
Athrun made a turn to a corner and soon went to a stop when he nearly bumped into someone.
"ah! sorry!" Athrun quickly apologizes.
"look where you are going!" a yell came from the other person and Athrun soon realizes that it is Yzak who is accompanied by Dearka, and Shiho.
"Yzak!?" Athrun exclaimed in surprise.
"Dearka!? It is really you!" Miriallia exclaimed in surprise to see the tanned blonde man.
"in the flesh." Dearka replied before he smiles amusingly at Yzak. "looks like Yzak's cranky attitude never fails to get us to where we need to." He chuckles while crossing his arms and then shrugging his shoulders. He then looks at the others. "looks like you got some luck on you, Athrun. Finding Kira and the others at a different class, I mean."
"more like I bumped into them than having luck on it." Athrun replied before he look at Yzak. "did you find anyone else at your classroom, Yzak?"
Yzak merely shakes his head in reply while crossing his arms.
"no, the other students in our class were random strangers." Yzak replied while glancing to the side and seeing the students walking around or chatting in the hallway. "they know us but we don't know them at all." he then looks at Athrun and the others behind him. "I can assume that those with you are the ones you recognize?"
"yeah." Athrun nods before he turns towards Kira and the others. "let me introduce you to them."
"I'm Cagalli Yula Atha.." Cagalli spoke out before looking a bit awkward. "but I guess you know me since I'm the princess of Orb and all.."
"we do." Dearka nodded before he looks at Miriallia. "and the brown haired girl here is Miriallia Haw." He turns towards Yzak. "she's the Archangel's Communication's officer."
"yeah, you told me before." Yzak said before he looks at Kira. "and you must be the Freedom or rather the Strike's Pilot."
"y-yes…" Kira spoke out with a small frown growing on his face. "I'm…Kira Yamato."
Yzak was silent as he looks to have a hard gaze at Kira for a moment before he closes his eyes.
"I see." Yzak spoke out. "it's a pleasure to finally meet you face to face, Kira Yamato."
Athrun and the others minus Shiho looks a bit amazed, confused, and surprised because they know that two former enemies meeting each other wouldn't end that peacefully.
"uh..Athrun, can you introduce their side to us?" Cagalli spoke out, trying to get rid of the awkward situation. "we know Dearka and all, but who is she?" the blonde pointed at Shiho. "not recognizing her after all.
"a-ah, right.." Athrun replied while nodding and then motioning a hand towards Shiho. "her name is Shiho Hahnenfuss, a classmate who was transferred to a different squad back at ZAFT."
"pleasure to meet you." Shiho greeted everyone while bowing her head once. "please just call me Shiho."
"pleasure." "nice to meet you." Cagalli and Miriallia greeted Shiho while Kira is rather silent and still frowning.
"Kira, I know that this isn't something we really want to talk about but it's fine." Athrun said to Kira. "that battle…it's already…"
"wait right there." Dearka interjected as he came and stopped the chitchat. "let's start the talking when we get up on the rooftop where it's private." He points a finger up. "talking in a big group like this in a hallway can really get unwanted attention, you know?" he motions a finger over his shoulder and at some students who passed by after glancing at them. "you get my point?"
"r-right.." Athrun nodded before he looks at Cagalli and Miriallia who just nodded to him in response.
"fine by me." Yzak said while Shiho just nods her head.
"well then, let's go." Dearka said before he and Athrun went off first and Kira and the others followed behind.
4 minutes later, at the school's rooftop.
Everyone settled at their spots as Kira along with Athrun, Cagalli, Miriallia, and Dearka sat on the floor while Yzak leans against the railings and Shiho stands beside him.
"so…." Dearka spoke before he took a big bite of a Yakisoba bread which he bought for lunch, he munched it a few times, and then swallowed. "what should we talk first?"
"I guess we should talk on how we are all here in the first place?" Cagalli suggested while piercing the tip of a straw into her milk box. "I mean, the last thing I remember was being at space and fighting against ZAFT."
"Who'd like to go first?" Athrun asks as he opens his Bento Box and held the chopsticks in hand..
"Not Dearka, that's for sure." Miriallia said, seeing how much of a messy eater Dearka is.
"I guess I and Cagalli should start." Kira spoke out after taking a few sips of his apple juice box. "but before that, I want to ask everyone." He looks at the group one by one. "what do you all last remember before finding yourselves in this world?"
"for me, it would be when I set off the Justice's self-destruct program to cause a nuclear explosion that would destroy Genesis before it exploded." Athrun said while looking up to the sky. "I got on board Cagalli's mobile suit and then we escaped before Genesis exploded and then when we tried to find Kira…" he then looks down while holding a hand to his head. "after that, there's nothing. I can't remember anything afterwards."
"That sounds exactly like what happened for me!" Cagalli stated while leaning forward and looks at Athrun. "everything literally went blank when I tried to remember what happened when we were trying to find Kira!"
"I guess you two got the same situation because you two were on board the same mobile suits, huh?" Miriallia said while nodding in understanding before she place a hand to her chest. "but for me, I only remember that we were about to be hit by the Dominion's Lohengrin cannon and then.." she frowns while shaking her head. "and then nothing."
"seems that everyone is having memory problems." Athrun said before he looks at Shiho.
"yes." Shiho replied while nodding. "before I came to this world, I was on a separate ZAFT Force tasked to protect the Genesis on area RE12." she close her eyes and remembers herself piloting her YFX-200 CGUE DEEP Arms that is leading a squadron of GINNs and CGUEs before they came under heavy fire from a large squadron of Earth Alliance Mobile suits and battleships. "I lead my squadron against the Earth Alliance forces, but just as we were about to win…" she opened her eyes when she sees a flashback of herself facing the Calamity Gundam that opened fire at her before everything went white. "I was attacked by an Earth Alliance mobile suit before everything went white and then I awakened at an apartment room with my parents."
"I see," Athrun nods before he looks at Yzak. "What about you, Yzak? What happened before you came to this world?"
"I was fighting the Earth Alliance Mobile suits with Dearka." Yzak replied while having his arms crossed and his eyes closed. "we were losing the battle, the Buster was incapacitated and the Duel was slowly losing power. I pulled in a last ditch effort in using the Buster's weapon to fire a kill shot at it and then.." he shrugs his shoulders. "nothing."
"hey, hey, this is getting rather creepy, don't you think?" Dearka said while finishing his Yakisoba bread. He then points a finger at Cagalli, Athrun, and then Miriallia. "you guys are saying that you guys wake up in this world when you experience a near death experience, right? That's just damn creepy."
"then is your experience different?" Kira asks Dearka who went silent for a moment before he nodded. This got everyone's attention. "what happened before you came to this world?"
"I remembered taking on the Earth Alliance Mobile suits with Yzak, and Athrun, then a new mobile suit from ZAFT came out of nowhere and destroyed the Buster with drone like weaponry." Dearka said as he remembered the utter weak form of his mobile suit facing the unknown Gundam that wrecked his machine. "I passed out and the next thing I wake up is to the sound of a ringing alarm clock and the sight of me being in an apartment by myself."
"drone like weaponry…" Kira whispers, remembering the DRAGOONS from Rau Le Creust's Providence Gundam.
"I guess everything is going way too creepy." Miriallia said, not liking the fact that they came to such a different world after almost having a first-hand experience with death. "Just how did we all came to such a world?"
Everyone looked at each other, their minds curious about the answer to their current situation but seeing as none of them could even make a guess, Dearka decided to speak out.
"so? Anything else you guys find odd about your new lives in this world?" Dearka asks, changing the subject. "Like where you're living, who you're living with, any of those stuff?"
"I'm living in a normal house with my parents." Miriallia said while looking up with a finger to her chin. "that's how I usually lived before the war came though?"
"so our lives at this world is different, huh?" Yzak said before he sighs and clicks his tongue in annoyance. "but why is my life so unlucky?"
"what's wrong? You living alone or something?" Dearka asks with a teasing smirk. "or are you living with your parents or with some mysterious girl who is your girlfriend?"
"No, you fool!" Yzak shouted. "I'm living at an apartment with my mother who has been hustling me about some marriage meeting that I have no idea!" he then slams a fist against the railings. "and to make matters worse, she's been getting me to attend cram schools about dating women! Just what kind of schools exist for that!?"
"s-sorry for asking?" Dearka sweatdropped while having his hands up in surrender and defense. He then looks at the others. "for me, I live alone in an apartment like I just told you, but my parents keep contact with me as they gave me this month's allowance money and everything." He then shrugs his shoulders. "I guess my life here is that of a student living far from their parents or something?"
"and yours, Shiho?" Athrun asks the girl. "what about your life here?"
"I live at a house near the school with my parents and for some reason several dogs." Shiho said as she had an imagination bubble appearing above her head showing a normal Japanese house that has her and her parents surrounded by a couple of dogs. "I find it odd since my parents don't like dogs in the first place."
"Could this mean that our lives here differ with our lives from our own world?" Kira asks while cupping his chin. He thought about it before he looks at Athrun. "but what about yours, Athrun?"
"yeah, do you live alone or with your parents?" Cagalli added in.
"I live at an apartment complex with my mother." Athrun replied before he scratches his cheek with a finger while having an awkward smile. "You won't believe how shocked I was when I find her waking me up from bed this morning." He sighs before he looks at the sky. "but I'm rather grateful that I could be with her again."
"I see.." Cagalli nodded. "then what about your father? In our world, he…"
"he's alive in this world." Athrun said after shaking his head. "but he's not the leader of ZAFT or some organization, he's just a businessman who is off on a business trip for a couple of months at America." He shrugs his shoulders. "I guess that's a good thing in a way?"
"Yeah…I guess so too." Cagalli spoke while nodding, the blonde remembering Athrun's father who was shot before Genesis' destruction. "I believe that's for the best…"
"Cagalli…" Kira looks at his twin, knowing that something was wrong, but he decided not to ask for the moment.
Before the group could converse even more, the bell rang again.
"looks like lunch break is over." Dearka said as he crumpled the plastic that covered his now eaten Yakisoba Bread before he get off the floor. "We should head back to our classroom and talk about this stuff at a later time."
"agreed." Yzak nodded. "there's a library at the school's 2nd floor, there might be some books that holds information about this world's history and any information we might seek." He glances at Athrun. "I've also heard that they got a computer with access to the World Wide Web. It's a bit old but still functional in our standards."
"yeah, I got it." Athrun nodded while closing his finished bento box, wrapped it up in the red towel and then gets off the floor. "perhaps we should split up after school, go around in search of other people in other classes who are stuck in the same situation as us"
"yeah." Dearka nods in agreement.
The group begins walking to the doorway but stopped when they see Yzak facing Kira.
"after collecting some information, I would like to talk with you." Yzak spoke out before he turns his head and points to the back of the school. "when the last school bell rings, meet me there."
"for what purpose, Yzak?" Athrun asks, a bit worried for his best friend and his comrade in arms.
"I only want to talk with him." Yzak said as he had a slightly hard gaze at Kira who look a bit tense. "just that."
Everyone looks at the two as they could tell that it was going to be more than an ordinary talk.
"You can come and stand nearby if you want, Athrun." Yzak said as he glances at the blue haired teen. "This talk has some concerns on your side as well."
"Me?" Athrun look confused at first before he nodded. "alright. After school is over."
Soon, everyone walked to the door as they begin to head back to their classrooms.
"Just what do you want to talk with him?" Dearka asks Yzak a bit discreetly.
"It's none of your concern." Yzak replied in a retorting voice.
As Yzak along with Dearka and Shiho heads for their classroom, Kira along with Athrun, Cagalli, and Miriallia heads for their classroom.
"just what are they going to talk about?" Miriallia whispers to Cagalli while looking worried.
"I don't know." Cagalli spoke before she glances at her brother who is frowning and looking down but gets some cheer up from Athrun. "I just hope that they don't end up fighting or anything."
A few hours later, the school bell rings at the afternoon and many students begins heading home or going to their clubrooms for club activity.
At classroom 3-B, many students packed up their belongings and leaves the room but a few like Kira and the others stayed behind.
Kira packs up a few books and his writing utensils into his bag before seeing Athrun with Cagalli and Miriallia coming to him.
"Are you ready, Kira?" Athrun asks Kira who nodded.
"Make sure that it doesn't lead to any fighting, Athrun." Cagalli told the blue haired teen. The blonde started to look a bit tense. "I'm not saying that I don't trust you and your friends, but considering that he is the Duel's pilot…"
"I know, Cagalli." Athrun nodded.
"this sucks that we can't come and listen." Miriallia said, wanting to be there for her friend who might get into conflict with an enemy of their original world.
"We can't help it considering that we got club activities that we didn't know we had to go to." Cagalli said as the group just learned that in the world that they are in, everyone minus Kira is a part of a school club. The blonde being a part of the female soccer team, Miriallia in the Newspaper club, and Athrun is a part of the Student Council Committee, but he didn't need to do it today because there's no scheduled meeting.
"I wonder if Dearka and the others got club activities to do too?" Miriallia thought out loud while thinking about their other friends' possible club activities.
"We can ask them later." Kira said as he carried his bag with him and then looks at Athrun. "let's go, Athrun."
"alright." Athrun nods before he and Kira walk out of the classroom while leaving behind Cagalli and Miriallia.
"I really hope that nothing crazy happens." Miriallia said and Cagalli nodded in agreement.
A few minutes later, at the school's backyard area. It's a quiet place that only has a storage room for various school club's properties.
By the storage room's door is Yzak who is just standing and leaning against the wall before he turns when he spots Kira and Athrun coming by.
"you've finally arrived." Yzak spoke out while facing the two.
"yes." Kira nods as he stood before Yzak while Athrun stays a few feet back to a position where he could observe and quickly intervene if the conversation went bad. "What is it that you wish to talk to me about?"
"Various of things." Yzak replied while crossing his arms. "from the time we fought after getting the G Weapons from Heliopolis to the Genesis incident." He turns and walks a few steps away. "but the most important thing I wish to speak in this conversation.." he stops and turns to face Kira once again. "It is to ask you about your personal reasons for ever participating in the war."
"my…" Kira spoke in a slightly confused voice. "Personal reasons?"
"Dearka told me a bit of yourself." Yzak said as he looked at the sky. "he said that you were someone who wasn't meant for battle and that you only fought in the war because of your friends being involved in it." he then looks at Kira. "now I ask of you on your true personal reasons to follow in such a war despite everything."
"that's…" Kira spoke before he looks down and started thinking of what he has gone through since the war began. "that's…"
As Kira was thinking, Athrun glances at him and then at Yzak.
"You only want to ask about this, Yzak?" Athrun asks.
"That will depend on Kira Yamato's reply." Yzak replied as he looks at Kira. "only then will this conversation ends."
Athrun looks at Yzak before he turns to look at Kira.
"The time of the war…" Kira spoke out. "it was…perplexing and chaotic when I first joined." He frowns when he remembers the destruction and deaths that the war brought upon. "I first joined because me and my friends were dragged into it but after Orb. No, after the incident of Alaska." He remembers Lacus' words about how his power is only power that could only be used correctly with the will of his heart. "I joined in the war not only to protect my friends." He looks at Yzak. "But to end the endless cycle of conflict that had plagued both nations for years. Just that."
Yzak looks at Kira for a silent moment before he made a small scoffing noise and then smiles a bit while closing his eyes.
"so this is who I was fighting against, huh?" Yzak spoke as he turns to the side. "now I don't actually feel bad for all the harsh words I utter during all those fights."
"Yzak?" Athrun looks at his friend in confusion.
"Kira Yamato." Yzak spoke as he turns to face the brown haired teen who he bowed his head to. "I apologize for everything that had happened during the war."
"eh?" Kira made a confused noise.
"Many things had happened between us during the war." Yzak spoke in a humble voice. "from the capture of the 4 G-Weapons to the events of Genesis, there is a countless number of times when we fought during those many battles and I sincerely apologize for the chaos I caused upon you." He looks at Kira and then bows his head once again. "I am sorry for all that I have done."
As Yzak apologized very surprisingly to both Athrun and Kira, the latter looks more confused and shocked.
"B-But…i…" Kira spoke as he started to look guilty. "I know that we had many battles but during the battle at Orb…i…the Blitz." The memory of the Sword Strike's Schwert Gehwer piercing the cockpit of the Blitz Gundam flashes into his mind. "your friend."
"Nicol…No, the Blitz' pilot" Yzak spoke as he faces Kira and then turns to look away. "He fought in the war knowing the consequences." He crosses his arms and close his eyes. "so forget about what happened before and just focus on what's going on now."
"But I'm still…" Kira whispers while frowning before getting a comforting pat to the shoulder by Athrun.
"The war is past us, there's no point crying over spoiled milk." Yzak said while looking away. "besides, when I shot down that shuttle when it interfered in our battle. I shot it in rage and I understood how everything that has happened is past us and that's it was originally my fault and not yours." He glances at Kira. "move on."
"he's right, Kira." Athrun said to his best friend. "what had happened that day at Orb. It wasn't your fault."
Kira looks at Athrun for a moment before he frowns and looks down. The young man still feeling the guilt of killing the Blitz' pilot as he still couldn't forgive himself.
"You can feel the guilt but don't let it control you." Yzak spoke. "the war is the cause of everything that you feel today, and only that. Got it?"
Kira looks at Yzak for a moment before he slowly nods his head.
"you guys better go home." Yzak said as he checks the time on his wristwatch. "it's almost going to be 3 in the afternoon now." He looks at Athrun. "Dearka told me that he wants us all to make a video call with one another during 7pm. Think you guys can do it with this world's current technology?"
"we'll make do with what we have." Athrun said and Yzak nodded before he turns and leaves.
Athrun watches as Yzak leaves before he turns to look at Kira who seems deep in thought before snapping out of it when the blue haired teen patted his shoulder.
"Kira, you okay?" Athrun asks and Kira took a moment before nodding his head.
"just…just thinking on what he said." Kira spoke as he thought about all the deaths he caused during the war. "just that."
Athrun looks at Kira and then he nods in understanding.
A few minutes later, Kira and Cagalli are walking down the street as they are going back home.
"today was sure hectic for the both of us." Cagalli said after sighing tiredly, the blonde had just finished doing the club activity of being in the Female Soccer team that leads to her wearing the soccer uniform on. "and tiring."
"yeah." Kira nods, thinking back on his conversation with Yzak. "it sure has…"
As the twins continued to converse while walking, they stopped by the entrance to a park where there is a children's playground, but there's no one in sight.
"Why do I get the feeling that we might have had come here when we were little?" Cagalli asks and Kira chuckles a bit.
"I believe anything is possible when we had come to this world." Kira said while looking around. "I do feel a sense of nostalgia when I look at the place."
"me too." Cagalli said before she noticed a billboard nearby. "that's?" she went and checks it to see that there is a notice. "this is…"
"What is it?" Kira asks as he comes near Cagalli and checks the notice. "this is…a notice of closure?"
"Seems that since this park doesn't have too much visitors, the town's council decided to shut the place down." Cagalli said as she reads the notice's information and then sighs softly. "it's a bit sad but I guess that is how things would go."
"I guess so." Kira nods before he looks at the park's playground. "it would be saddening for some children but the past can't remain for too long."
"yeah" Cagalli nodded while looking at the playground. "can't stay in the past too long."
Kira and Cagalli looks at the playground for a while before they turned and continued walking back home.
some hours later, Kira and Cagalli returned to their home. the twins find their mother had gone out for an evening grocery shopping from a note on the fridge so that means it is just the two in the house.
Kira is currently in his room as he opened his pc and begins accessing everything that is in it.
"Why are there so many games in here?" Kira asks as he checks the entire data of the PC in his room, and it's filled with installed games. "was I the one who installed them? Or someone else?" he types the keyboards very fast as the computer followed with his commands. "first, I need to free up some space and then…."
Kira did his work as his eyes scanned and followed the entire programs that are being inputted into his PC, the old and unneeded data were deleted while the important ones were kept. His fingers typed the keyboard faster than before as the Ultimate Coordinator is actually reprograming the purpose of the laptop.
"This PC is rather old but if I can reprogram these data and then input a new command…." Kira whispers as the layout of the PC's screen changes and the pixelization of its image became better and more nicer. "and then the camera…" he checks the bottom of his study desk and then the side before he finds a web cam that he quickly installed to his laptop and then did some minor work to its programming. "This should work."
Within 10 minutes, Kira made the very old based Laptop into one that works ten times better.
"now then…" Kira checks the time and it is nearly 7 pm. "Dearka should be calling by…" he hears the downstairs telephone ringing and the sound of footsteps hurryingly run down the stairs. "now."
Knowing that it was Cagalli who went to answer the call, Kira continues to work on his pc as he made some programs be inputted to an application before a screen pop ups and showed his face that was captured by his installed camera.
"Kira!" Cagalli soon came in as she held a piece of paper in hand. She went to her brother and handed the item to him. "here, it's the network codes for the others' IP addresses."
Kira takes the paper and sees the written content which are network IP address for Athrun and the others.
"just a minute." Kira started to make some work with the IP address that he starts to connect with his home's network. "inputting IP Adress 19230233874 and then…" his eyes scans the screen that shows multiple codes being transferred around before a single screen pops up and showed the twin's faces on it and then followed by several other dark screens. "there we go."
Everyone's faces appeared on the screen as they all were checking on something.
"is everyone on?" Kira asks while putting on a headphone with Cagalli. "are our voices clear to be heard?"
"yeah." Athrun nodded. "they're clear."
"Hearing you loud and clear on my side." Dearka said while turning side to side on his game chair.
"no problem on my side." Miriallia nodded.
"same for me." Yzak said while Shiho nodded on her side.
"so then, anyone got anything on their side?" Cagalli asks the group. "any info or news or anything relatable to our world's history?"
"nothing." "got nothing out of the books or the internet." "Nothing at all." "I came up empty." Yzak, Athrun, Shiho, and Miriallia replied while shaking their heads in reply, but Dearka didn't.
"I got something that might be or might not be related to our world at all." Dearka replied as this made everyone look at his screen.
"what do you got, Dearka?" Athrun asks.
"for starters, this world is more older than we think." Dearka said as he is checking something on his pc. "I mean, the firewall programming for every system in Japan is like a hundred year retro old and so easy to be bypassed." He then pressed a button and a Mail appeared on everyone's screen. "and not only that, it turns out that the system is rather weak to hacking as well."
"did you just hack into the government or something, Dearka!?" Miriallia said in surprise and shock because the Mail that Dearka sent is filled with information background on everyone which is kept personally by the government. "I mean, this is straight up all of our birth certificates, our hospital's medical records, everything!"
"like I said, the programming is very weak." Dearka said while shrugging his shoulders. "and besides, we need to know who we are in this world, right?" he then leans his right elbow on his seat's armrest and leans his cheek against his knuckles. "we know who we are in our old world but we got no idea who we are in this world and what we've been doing."
"hate to say it, but he's got a point there." Athrun said while checking his information in the mail. "I didn't know my father is the owner of a leading multinational company before I got this email, and that I am his successor after I graduate from school." He cups his chin and scratches it a few times. "there's even some movement plans to do a collaboration too.."
"hey, Kira. Check this out." Cagalli said as she pointed to the screen where one part of the mail showed the family certificate of the twins. "our family is connected with my father or rather the Atha family who are overseas." Another part shows a registration to a family tree that has the Hibiki, the Yamato, and the Atha Family being related. "We're actually distant relatives with each other."
"yeah." Kira nodded as he looked at one picture showing news about the Atha Family owning a multi-millionaire company overseas. "the company is called Orb Incorporated." He chuckles with a smile. "Orb, huh?"
"it somehow fits for father." Cagalli smiled, happy to know that her adoptive father is alive and well in this world.
"yeah…" Kira spoke as he continues to read the information of their family before he comes across the records of his father; Ulen Hibiki. "this is…" his eyes widen as he sees that his father works as the chief scientist of the GARM R&D which is the name of the company responsible for the creation of the Coordinators at the abandoned Mendel Colony. "it can't be…"
Kira begins to worry that the world he and the others are in will soon meet Coordinators created by his father and his research team. He is afraid that it leads to another war and possibly of him meeting another Ultimate Coordinator.
As Kira was looking rather worried or rather looking like he had seen a ghost, Cagalli and Athrun notices it with the others following.
"what's wrong, Kira?" Miriallia asks her friend. "you okay?"
"y-yeah…" Kira spoke out a bit wearily. "just….just felt a bit uncomfortable for a moment."
Cagalli looks at Kira for a moment before she checks on what her brother was reading and she made a surprised noise when she finds out that it is about their biological father.
"Kira…" Cagalli looks at her brother with a small frown while gently grasping his arm. "Kira, I know how you feel but this is a different world."
Kira looks at Cagalli before he frowns and looks down.
"I know but…" Kira spoke out while grasping his right hand into a hard fist. "if he is the same as he was in our real world…"
"I know." Cagalli nods. "but let's check and see if he really is the same man."
Kira was silent for a moment before he nods to his twin and both checks on their father's records a bit deeper.
As they dig in deeper, the twins' eyes widen in surprise when they find out that their father is the chief researcher in researching and developing new medicine for the sick.
"He's the leading researcher of a new medicine made to help patient with brain injury." Kira spoke out as he reads all the information that is recorded on his father's database. "He also founded a new research that could help with heart diseases as well and…"
"He's using science to help everyone.." Cagalli spoke out before smiling to Kira. "See! He's different! he's doing good instead of bad!"
"yeah…" Kira nods, happy and proud to know that his father in this world is doing great and helpful things instead of doing evil. "he is…"
"okay, I think we might want to know what you guys are talking about now…" Dearka asks as he along with Yzak, Shiho, and Miriallia are looking confused. "not liking how you guys are keeping us in the dark."
Kira and Cagalli looks at the others before to Athrun who did a nod and a supporting smile to the twins who soon glanced at each other and nodded.
"to start things off…" Cagalli spoke as she decided to take the lead in explaining the situation to the others.
It took nearly an hour for Cagalli and Kira to explain everything, the twins adding in with one another's explanations and also answering the questions that their friend may or may not have to them.
The chatroom is a bit silent at the moment as the group is processing what they just learned from the twins and the existence of Kira as the Ultimate Coordinator.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm actually glad that we didn't kill each other during the war." Dearka spoke while leaning against his seat. "well, if you consider the great possibilities that are achievable if we knew that Kira is a Coordinator with great Genes and all."
"What do you mean?" Miriallia asks.
"Coordinators are advanced than Naturals, but we have a flaw and that's within our genes." Shiho explained while typing on her computer's keyboard and sends emails to the group's PC which shows the photo of a DNA block. "Coordinators have a very low and diminished capabilities in reproducing and that's the reason why back at PLANTS there is only arranged marriage between two peoples with compatible genes."
"in simple terms, if two Coordinators wish to make a child, they must be compatible." Yzak added in before sighing. "just like how my Mother is trying with me."
"that's understandable…" Athrun spoke before looking a bit blue. "if we knew that Kira had such capabilities, we could've live with freedom and no limits.."
"indeed." Shiho nodded in agreement before she frowns a bit. "but still, that news on Commander Le Creust…"
"we all find it to be a hard pill to swallow." Yzak spoke as he thought of the blonde masked commander of his. "to think that he was a clone mad with the world's destruction and end…" he sighs while placing a hand to the side of his head. "is this the result of Science going wrong or the result of human's greed?"
"whichever it is, I guess we can say that it's nice that we are in a world where everything isn't the same." Miriallia said while checking the information on her screen. "I mean, we got the peace we all wanted. Everything I see is just showing us living normal lives like the teens we are."
"But we're not normal teens by any means." Cagalli spoke before she frowns a bit. "normal, huh?"
"what's wrong?" Athrun asks in seeing Cagalli's change of expression.
"it's just…" Cagalli spoke before sighing a bit. "I can't help but think on how this might be the lives we would have if that stupid war never started in the first place." She frowns a bit more in remembering all the chaos and destruction that their world had sustained over the years. "each of us would be living like normal teenagers who go to school, study, do club activities, hang out, and just have fun…" her frown grew sad when the memory of Orb's destruction came flashing into her vision. "what if…what if where we are now…is a world where we have a new life? A second chance to live what we couldn't live through?"
"that sounds….kinda true.." Miriallia said while looking down and seemingly deep in thought. "I mean, what we only remember before coming to this world…"
"is the one moment before our possible brush with death." Dearka added in as he cups his chin before he sighs and smiles a bit. "sounds a bit cliché, don't you think?"
"as cliché as you say it is, it doesn't change the fact that we are in this world through some unknown methods." Yzak spoke out while crossing his arms. "for starters, we don't know if we are really dead and this world might be someone's state of dream. We can't conclude things without further evidence."
"Still, for all of us to be here and remember our world while not knowing anything of this world…" Shiho spoke while deeply thinking about what has happened around the group. "I can't help but agree with Cagalli-san's notion that this might be some sort of second chance in life."
Now the group started to debate on whether they are dead and they have been reincarnated or they are in a deep coma state or some sort of weird unexplainable situation that they can't get their heads wrapped around.
After almost an hour of debating, the group finally decided on a single notion.
"for now, let's try to live in this world until we find an answer as to why we are here and if there's a possible chance that we could return to our original world." Kira spoke as he and Cagalli look at the PC's screen showing everyone's face that looks firm and determined. "I know that we didn't ask to come here in the first place but let's try to think positive of the whole situation."
"agreed." "I got no problem." "same with me." "as if we got the choice." "Understood." Everyone replied while nodding their heads.
"it's almost 9, so let's continue this chat at school." Cagalli said after checking the time. "and if any of you go the chance, try to see things around the area that might caught your interest."
"like what?" Miriallia asks.
"something that relates to you and something that may relate to our world." Dearka explained as he picks up a poster about robots fighting against each other. "for starters, I got this poster in my room that talks about futuristic mobile suits fighting one another."
"That actually relates to us very well." Cagalli said in seeing the poster."
"if Dearka could find one, we could find one ourselves." Yzak said before his mother; Ezalia Joule came into his room without knocking the door.
"Yzak! Stop playing games and get to sleep!" Ezalia scolded her son as she went and confronts him. "you have your studies at school and your private school, remember!?"
"I'm not playing any games!" Yzak retorted. "and stop coming into my room without permission, woman!"
Kira and the others are now awkwardly watching the little fight between mother and son, the group seeing how Yzak is yelling at his mother who yells back at him.
"so…..chat at lunchbreak?" Dearka asks and everyone nods their heads before discontinuing the call because they didn't want to see the ugly fight that progresses with Yzak's mother pulling on the young man's hair.
Time begins to pass as Kira and the others continue their progress with learning about the world that they are in while also trying to figure out if there's a way to return to their original world.
Days passed as Kira and the others got used to living in their current world. Their routine would be to go to school, learn the subjects in class, talk about various stuffs during lunch break, go back to class to study till school is over, go out to talk some more and then parted ways.
It progressed for almost an entire week and during one afternoon after school.
"how about we hit the Arcade?" Dearka asks while pointing to a nearby arcade store. "we got no homework and we basically got lots of free time."
"oh, an Arcade! Haven't been to one in a long time!" Cagalli said while looking interested.
"the games are a bit old but they're quite good." Athrun said, seeing some old fashion but retro games. "some looks rather fun."
"yeah." Kira nodded. "they might have some interesting ones too.
"well, it beats doing nothing at home." Miriallia said while shrugging her shoulders before sighing. "or getting dragged by my parents at night doing some photography and stuff."
"you in, Yzak? Shiho?" Dearka asks his friend while the others head off to the arcade first.
"I rather be in the arcade than be at home where my mother would instantly come and start talking about my marriage and stuff." Yzak said as he walks pass Dearka. "that woman is going to the death of me every single day!"
"I have free time so why not?" Shiho said, following Yzak.
Everyone went to the arcade as they exchanged some cash for some game coins and spreads out to do whatever fun they could get from the games in the arcade.
From Whack a Mole to arcade racing games, they did every single game in the arcade.
"hey, guys. Check this out." Cagalli called out to her friends as she is standing in front of a very large arcade console that has two seats each. "this game looks interesting."
"Valgern-on?" Kira spoke as he reads the title of the game. "Some sort of third shooter game?"
"not exactly." Athrun said while checking the information of the game by a nearby stand. "it says here that Attack Of Cyber-Legion Valgern-On is a 3-D mecha video game created by SAGA INTOPROCESS The game features fast, action-oriented mecha gameplay requiring quick reflexes…."
Everyone listens as Athrun reads the information and by the moment he finished, they believed the game to be a simulation game alike with the simulator for the mobile suits in their world.
"this looks very neat if it's just a simulation and stuff." Cagalli said before she grabs Athrun's hand and leads him to one available spot. "come on, Athrun! You and me!"
"e-eh? Hey!" Athrun yelped as he was dragged into one of the available spots.
"you in for a game, Yzak?" Dearka asks while patting a hand on Miriallia's right shoulder. "me and Miriallia vs you and Shiho, the one who gets the higher score wins and the loser got to buy juices for the winner."
"eh? Me too!?" Miriallia said in surprise.
"interesting, I'll take you on." Yzak said while Shiho looks awkward cause her concern wasn't asked at all.
Everyone besides Kira got on the available consoles as they started the game after inserting a coin. The match up is Athrun vs Cagalli and on the other side is Dearka and Miriallia vs Yzak and Shiho.
"I guess everyone is in on it, huh?" Kira chuckles a bit awkwardly because he's the only one who isn't playing the game.
"hey, Kira!" someone called out to the brown haired teen who turns and finds both Takeru and Sumika coming to him. "fancy seeing you here."
"ah, hey there you two." Kira greeted the two while nodding their heads. "you guys were interested with the games in the arcade?"
"you can say that" Takeru replied after nodding and chuckling a bit.
"well it was more on Takeru-chan's side to be interested." Sumika said before sighing tiredly while shrugging her shoulders. "he's still a kid who wants to play at the arcade from time to time."
"hey!" Takeru glares at her and Sumika just looks away while whistling.
"I see.." Kira chuckles a bit before he hears a victory cheer from Cagalli. He along with Takeru and Sumika turns to see the blonde cheering in victory while Athrun sighs with a small smile, the group could tell that she had won against him in the game. "and before a minute could pass, Cagalli already won."
"I can see that." Takeru said while chuckling a bit. He then sighs. "still, Valgern-on is a new game and she won it so easily. But I can't find it surprising since it's Cagalli-san and all." He smiles and looks at Kira. "How about it? a game between me and Sumika vs you and Cagalli-san?"
"me!?" Sumika looks surprised. "but I don't know how to play the game at all!"
"just follow my lead." Takeru told her before he looks at Kira. "so? how about it?"
"I'm okay with it if Cagalli is fine as well." Kira replied with a nod.
The group then went to Cagalli who is bragging her victory to Athrun before they see them and begin to hear things from Kira who explained the little situation.
"I'm alright with that!" Cagalli said with a grin.
"it's 2 on 2." Takeru said as he got to his console with Sumika and faces Kira with Cagalli on the other side. "ready?"
"alright." Kira, Cagalli, and Sumika nods as they watch the screen that shows 3D Images of a hi-tech field and mechanical robots which is their avatar.
"Let's go!" Takeru and Cagalli exclaimed as they went on the go with the attack against one another's mecha avatar.
It's just firing and hitting one another as both players are on the attack, but not for Kira who is actually checking the systems' play.
'this moves the avatar, the buttons of the programs follow several commands that are simple and practical but if followed with a combination…' Kira thought while watching the fight through the monitor. The young man seeing how the robot characters move and therefore he instantly processed some ideas in his mind about each movement. 'if I follow this command with Cagalli's basic attack patterns…'
Kira moves a control rod forward and presses a few buttons while stepping on a pedal in a sync that made the robot character move to dodge an enemy's attack that was countered with quick precision.
"that's fast!" Sumika gasps.
"focus on attack!" Takeru exclaimed as he tried to even the odds but Kira continues to move his character with such fluid movements that it would seem like he is one with the game. "damnit!"
"Cagalli! On my mark!" Kira exclaimed.
"yeah!" Cagalli nods while pushing forward her control rods that made their robot avatar go and fire its weaponry upon Takeru and Sumika's robot avatar.
"wha!? What do we do!?" Sumika cried out in a panic, seeing how their robot avatar is getting bombarded.
"damnit! We don't have any shield power left!" Takeru exclaimed before he and Sumika gawks in shock because their robot avatar got slashed in half by Kira and Cagalli's robot avatar. "aaahh!"
The screen shows the winner being player 1 and that leads to Cagalli cheering in victory with Kira.
"it's not fair that we got to face those two!" Sumika cries out. "they're twins and therefore they got twin senses, right!?"
"is that even a real thing?" Takeru sweatdrops.
Athrun who is watching from the sidelines, smile with a chuckle in seeing how the two sides are celebrating and arguing a bit.
"Athrun! It's your turn!" Yzak called out to Athrun who turns to see him coming with a small smirk. "I finished off Dearka, now it's your turn!"
Athrun looks a bit surprised at first before he sighs with a smile.
"fine by me." Athrun said before he and Yzak go to the available arcade console.
The group played in the arcade for who knows how long as they just went at it until they run out of allowance money to use.
A few hours later, its already nighttime.
Kira is in his room as he is checking out an album book filled with photos of him and Cagalli along with a few photos of him being with his old friends back at Heliopolis.
"it's all nostalgic in a way…." Kira spoke while smiling from seeing the photos in the album. He flips a page and sees more photos of him and Cagalli with their parents at local tourist attractions from all over Japan. "and a bit strange as well."
As Kira continues to flip through the pages of the album, a knock came from the door and his mother Via Hibiki enters his room.
"Kira, hurry and go to sleep." Via told her son. "You have to go to school early tomorrow, remember?"
"yes." Kira nods as he closed the album book and this was noticed by his mother.
"Had some nostalgia in looking up the photos in the album?" Via asks while sitting on her son's bed. "it's rare to see you look up on the photo album since you're into games these days."
"well…I guess I needed a change of moods." Kira said with a smile while holding up the album. "I feel like I needed a reminder of where I am and everything that I had gone through."
Via looks at her son for a moment before she smiles.
"I don't know why, but I feel like you're not my son in a way." Via said and Kira looks at her in a rather surprised or baffled look. The mother looks to the side and at the picture frames of her family at a table nearby. "This week, you've been acting a bit different than usual which is a positive thing in my view but at the same time, it's rather uncomfortable in a way." She sighs a bit and looks at her son once again. "I don't know what's going on with you and your sister for the past few days, but I know that you two are still my children who I raised with all my love." She went and patted the young man's head. "Just try not to act too weirdly, alright?"
Kira looks at his mother a bit awkwardly tense for a moment before he nods with a smile.
"alright then…" Via sighs as she gets off the bed and then caresses Kira's head for a moment. "time for you to get some shut eye. You got to wake up early for breakfast and school, alright?" she begins walking to the door. "and be on your best behavior while I'm gone, alright?"
"Gone? Gone where?" Kira asks, curious and confuse.
"I need to go and help your father in his research for a new heart disease medicine." Via replied while standing near the doorway. "I'll be gone for only a week and that means no trouble coming from you or your sister." She pointed a finger at Kira. "if I hear just one call from your school or from the neighbors that you and Cagalli are doing crazy teenager things, I'll cut off both of your allowances and confiscate all of your electronics, got it?"
"alright.." Kira nods. "good night, Mom."
"good night." Via smiled and nodded before she grabs the doorknob and then closes the door.
Kira went and flicks the light switch near his bed before he place away the album to the bedside table.
"Mom….Dad…" Kira spoke out, the young man have only spoke those words to his world's foster mother and father, never to his biological parents. He smiles to the nice feeling he got when he talked with Via and that feeling just made his heart swell a bit. "it's nice to finally call her that…"
As Kira slowly settles into his bed with his pillow and blanket, the young man quickly falls asleep to get the rest needed for school tomorrow morning.
Kira lightly snores in his sleep as he was deep in it to the point he didn't hear the sound of a vehicle parking in front of his house and several people come out of the mode of transportation.
"so, this is his home?" "yes, this is Kira-sama's home." "it looks rather plain, but that is to be expected of someone like him." "yes. Do you wish to call the construction company to make some improvements?" "no, let's do that with his approval. For now, I want to meet him." "but considering the time, would he not be asleep already?" "I see…then I shall join him." "as expected of you, Meiya-sama. I shall fetch your sleeping wear." "please do, Tsukuyomi."
The people outside chattered and without bothering the neighbor, they began to make their way to the front door of the Hibiki's household.
On the next morning of October 22nd, 6:30 AM
The sun is rising to the sky, and it shines its morning rays to the people of Japan who are waking up from their beds and are getting ready for the day.
In the Hibiki's house, the twins are still asleep in their rooms as they had a fun night the day before and they slept in late.
Kira snores lightly in his sleep as he continues to be in his dreams before he groans when he hears the sound of his alarm clock ringing on the bedside table.
"so noisy…" Kira mumbled in his sleep as he reaches his left hand reaches for the alarm clock. "it's so noisy…" he tries to reach for the alarm clock on the table as he hits the bedside table a few times in search of the noisy object and he found it after a couple of tries. "there…" he turns and starts to go back to asleep while pulling and hugging his bolster pillow to him, but he is actually hugging someone who he thought was his bolster. "it's so noisy in the morning.."
As Kira slowly falls back asleep, he leans his face closer to his pillow but instead felt his face being squeezed in between two soft, squishy and yet familiar objects.
Kira didn't do anything but sleep as he liked how soft and warm his pillow and bolster feels. He was still half asleep as he didn't register that a pair of feminine arms gently wrapped themselves around his head and a hand caresses his hair.
'school starts too early…I want to stay home and be on my bed all day..' Kira continues to fall asleep while unconsciously rubbing his bolster with his hands and sinking his face into the two unfamiliar squish objects in front of him. He felt them being so soft, squishy, and so warm that he presses further till his lips kisses one object that got a little quiet moan from someone. 'and just sleep with my pillow and bolster.'
As Kira continues to fall asleep, his mind finally realizes something.
'when did I have a bolster?' Kira thought as he keeps hugging his bolster while leaning his face deeper into his two soft pillows. 'and when did I have two pillows that are so soft, squishy, and..warm?'
"What am I hugging?" Kira mumbled out while moving his face in between his pillows. "and what are these two pillows on my face?"
"it's my body you are hugging and it's my breasts your face is snuggling with." a feminine voice answered Kira's question. "Does it feel nice?"
Hearing the voice, Kira slowly opened his eyes and sees that his face is buried deep in the breasts of a beautiful teenager of his age with long blue hair, blue eyes, and wear a traditional white yukata and the front part is slightly open because the young man's face in it.
"Good morning, Kira." The girl greeted Kira with a blushing smile. "Did you have a wonderful dream during your rest?", she says that as she moves her right hand to continue softly caressing his head. "well?"
It took Kira's mind a few seconds to process what is going on as he blinks his eyes once, twice, thrice, and multiple times as he takes everything in.
Wake up from bed, his hands holding a girl's waist, his face snuggled in a girl's breasts, mysterious and beautiful girl lying on the bed beside him and greeting him by first name, and his face is still buried in her breasts.
With all that processed in Kira's intellectual mind, the first course of action that comes into mind is one thing and that is to scream in complete shock and confusion.
"WHAAAAA~!?" Kira screams loudly as the house comically shakes.
"WHAT THE HECK!?" Cagalli shouted, surprised from hearing the scream that woke her up in a jolt.
