Hello, peoples! I'm back!

Hope you enjoy this new story! =)

Hiccup has always lived in fear.

He lives in fear of getting beaten every day. He lives in fear of starving to death, which most certainly would be the end of him; he doesn't remember the last time the fridge was full of fresh food. He lives in fear of someone finding out his dark little secret.

If anybody were to find out, it would end him. He still loves his father even if his father hates him.

Or maybe the abuse Hiccup gets was Stoick's way of showing his love.

All the times Stoick slapped Hiccup, he was kissing him goodnight.

All the times Stoick strangled Hiccup, he was hugging him in fear he would lose him forever.

All the times Stoick insulted Hiccup, he was telling him how proud he was of him.

All the times Stoick told Hiccup how much he hated him, he was telling Hiccup how much he loved him.

All the times Stoick told Hiccup he would be better off dead, he was telling him he needed to keep his heart beating.

It was those acts of love that brought Hiccup home every day. It was those acts of love that had Hiccup crying himself to sleep every night.

It was those acts of love Hiccup knew weren't really acts of love.

Hiccup sighed as he walked into the classroom. He was ten minutes early but that was okay. That just meant he was the first one in the classroom (besides the teacher already sitting at his desk) and didn't have to worry about people looking at him. It always made him nervous when they looked at him.

Hiccup sat down at his desk and looked around nervously. He really didn't want to be here. However, he didn't want to be home either. He'd rather be in his own little world where everyone loved him and he didn't need to worry about starving. Oh, and there would be dragons, too! Hiccup pulled out his sketch book and turned the pages till he got to the drawing he started yesterday.

He added a new curve to his drawing. He had always been obsessed with dragons. He'd come up with designs for a new species and then he would name the new species. When he would finish them, he'd put them in a binder filled with other dragons and notes on how they behaved in the wild. He was currently working a Deadly Nadder (already a step ahead) and it was turning out beautifully. The crown of spikes on its head, the spikey tail, the curved beak-like snout... his parents would love it- if only his mother was still alive and his father would care.

But his mother is dead and his father doesn't care.

"Alright class, let's get some math done," Mr. Mildew, the grumpy math teacher, said as he got up from his desk, ruining Hiccup's mental ways of comforting himself.

Lunchtime came quickly. But unlike all the other kids, Hiccup didn't go to eat lunch. He didn't the money to do so but that didn't bother him. It just meant more time to draw. Maybe he'll draw people today instead.

Who should be his muse for today...?

Suddenly, someone was standing in front of him.

Looking up, Hiccup saw the most beautiful and popular boy in front of him: Jack Frost Overland.

"What are you doing here all by yourself?" Jack asked.

I apologize for making this short, but that just means a longer chapter next time! I am also going to apologize for the long waits for future chapters in advance! I do have a full-time job and that usually takes a lot out of me. I have also been experiencing some health issues (don't worry, they aren't life-threatening as far as I know). I thank everyone in advance for being patient.

Please share in the comments how you are doing today/tonight!
