Terminator 3: Disable hibernation.

Chapter 1: Begin.

June 15, 2028, 7AM

John Connor woke up. He lay in bed and felt that his body was covered with sticky sweat. John was having the same dream again. A Terminator was chasing him.

The atmosphere of the dream was cold and depressing. In this dream, an enemy T-1000 terminator from the past came back and chased him. No matter how hard John tried, the Terminator always caught up with him. Then the Terminator grabbed John by the throat with its metal hand and strangled him. John tried to free himself from the dead grip, but it was impossible. The Terminator slowly squeezed its hand on John's throat and looked him in the eyes. When John was about to lose consciousness, the grip suddenly loosened, and the terminator said: "You are not that John Connor". John fell to his knees and gasped for air as the terminator slowly walked away. Then there was that sound. The sound that was the worst of the whole dream. The sound was getting louder and louder, and it was pounding right on his eardrums, as if many forks were scraping against an iron bucket in his head. John knew it was the laughter of the terminator. In this dream, the Terminator COULD laugh, and it was laughing at him.

John was lying in bed and the echo of the terminator's laughter was still pounding in his head. John could taste metal on his tongue and in his throat, even after waking up. He tried to gather his thoughts and figure out where he was. Finally, he noticed small rays of sunlight breaking into his room through the partially closed blinds. The weather will be nice today - not hot and not cold.

He had this dream for the fifth or sixth time in the last six months. After waking up, he always had a bitter taste of metal in his throat, and he felt as if something was really choking him. Because of this dream, he doubted whether he was really the John Connor his mother was always talking about.

This dream started after the death of his mother - Sarah Connor. She believed to the last that he would save humanity from the Skynet program, which would start a nuclear war using existing nuclear missiles. Later, Skynet was to create special killing machines - terminators, which would destroy the remaining humans.

It had been more than thirty years since John had last seen a terminator. Now he remembered the events in the distant nineties vaguely. Sometimes he thought it was a dream, but his mother did not think so. She said that a terminator killed his father, and he will be killed too. She had obsessive thoughts about terminators coming from the future, even after the self-destruction of the last terminator, his friend T-800. He had protected John from the evil Terminator T-1000, who now haunted his dreams. John's mother continued to prepare for the war against the Terminators until her death. But it was not the terminator that killed her, but uterine cancer.

Because of Sarah Connor's constant talk about war, John joined the military after high school, as she wanted him to. She said military training would allow him to lead the resistance movement in case of war and better understand the course of military operations. However, John did not become a general. Because of his love for computers and programming, he became the head of cybersecurity in the United States. John Connor was proud of this, unlike his mother. He believed that it was a remarkable success for a half-orphan whose mother was a bit crazy.

However, over the years of service, he began to get tired of the routine in his work. He missed the adventures he used to have when he was a teenager. Now his adventures are constant physical training, perfecting his shooting, and of course, constant sitting at the computer.

John got out of bed and slowly went to the kitchen, where he made himself a cup of coffee. John is already 43 years old, but his subordinates did not give him even 35. Today he did not go to work at eight o'clock. Today is the presentation of the program from the "counter-attack" department. John was often invited to events where programs were presented that would be used in the military. His department must study the possible risks of each program and their vulnerabilities. And this job his department was performing flawlessly.

Having finished his coffee, John quickly dressed and left the house. He lived close to work, so in half an hour he reached the building where the program was to be presented. He went inside and through a small corridor got into a large hall with chairs like in a cinema. A lot of high-ranking military officials gathered there. There were rumors that even the president himself would be there. John knew it was just a rumor, but it usually comes when a project or program really deserves his attention.

John did not hesitate to sit down on any chair and waited for the presentation. In a few minutes, everyone who came to the presentation was already sitting in their seats. The light dimmed and a round-faced man of small stature came to the middle of the hall. John knew him - it was Sergeant Paul Black. He always started the program presentations with his well-pitched voice. He spoke slowly, and after each sentence he made a small pause.

"Good afternoon, dear servicemen.

You know that every day, technology is moving forward at a rapid pace. In today's world, whoever has the best technology - wins. Therefore, today we will present to you the program of the future.

This program was developed for more than 10 years by the leading programmers of our country. Both military and civilians. They worked on the creation of artificial intelligence that would quickly respond to any possible attempts to attack our state. Once our government paid a lot of money to a private company "Cyberdyne Systems" to create this program. But unfortunately, in 1995, the head of their company went crazy and blew up the plant with all the developments. This set back technological progress for several decades".

"Cyberdyne Systems" - somewhere I've heard that before". - John thought as Paul Black continued:

"Thanks to former employees of this company, we were able to revive the basic algorithms and eventually created the world's first artificial intelligence. It is based on a set of neural networks that continuously interact with each other. It is this program that will allow us to dominate the world and keep the reputation of a superpower.

Dear gentlemen! Welcome to the program of the future that will preserve peaceful skies over our country - "The Skynet" !"

The whole room applauded, and the logo with the inscription "Skynet" appeared on the main screen. At this time, John's body was covered with goosebumps from head to toe.

"That's impossible," - John's head was spinning. He was shocked, and meanwhile Paul Black calmly continued:

"Colonel Roberto Rowdy, Head of the Neural Networks Department, will talk more about the Skynet program".

After that, a tall, fit blond man with a big, brilliant smile came on stage to applause. John Connor knew him well, and such a talentless programmer like him could not create artificial intelligence.

"Thank you, thank you, Paul," - said Rowdy. He stood behind the podium and continued. Unlike Paul Black, Rowdy spoke quickly:

"We have been working on this program for even more than ten years. But it is in the last ten years, when there was a development of technological capabilities and computers became faster and more powerful, we began to move forward faster in this project. Our team of programmers led by Adam Van was able to recreate the basic structure of the Skynet program, the model of which was developed back in 1995.

Now, Skynet is the most advanced defense technology in the world. It will help to stay ahead of our enemies and quickly deliver a preemptive strike. Skynet will allow you to predict the future, gentlemen! The highest officials of our country approved the Skynet project, even at the beginning of the idea".

Then Rowdy continued to praise Skynet, continuously repeating the same thing: that Skynet has no analogues, that it is the development of our country, about the latest technologies and a lot of unnecessary information that John Connor was not interested in. Finally, the report ended, and it was time for questions. John raised his hand and was given the floor:

"Thank you for the excellent presentation, Colonel Rowdy. I am glad when my department is given an interesting development for testing. And this program is remarkably interesting to me, because as I understand, it will be the basis of the security of the United States of America. Therefore, my department will be happy to check this program for vulnerabilities. I hope for your full cooperation with our department". - John deliberately put Roberto Rowdy in front of the fact that his department will be dealing with Skynet before the final launch of Skynet.

Rowdy without losing his big smile, replied:

"Of course, Colonel Connor, my department will provide you with all the information you need. However, I must warn you, Skynet has a universal security algorithm that allows it to evolve its security protocols whenever there is an attempt to tamper with its source code. The program is perfect, and what's more, it will continue to improve all the time. Your department trying to show its flaws will only improve its source code. Our chief programmer - Adam Van, will answer all your questions and bring you up to speed".

- "Thank you, Rowdy." - John replied.

There were a few more questions about the program, but Connor was already waiting for the end of the presentation and meeting with the chief programmer, Adam Van. When the end of the presentation was announced, a short, unremarkable, at first glance, Asian-looking man approached John. He bowed and said:

"Good afternoon, John Connor. I'm Adam Van, and I'm Skynet's lead developer. It's a pleasure to meet you. I must warn you that I have Asperger's syndrome and I don't like to touch people, so my greeting is different from yours. I hope it will not offend you. Furthermore, I will answer all your questions and my department will provide you with all the necessary information".

"Thank you, Van," John also bowed in response. "I would like to have full access to the project. Could you please send all information and updates of the Skynet program directly to our department? My department will study the code in detail, and we will be in touch with you about suggestions and improvements".

"Agreed, tomorrow our department will send you all the information via Skynet"

"Thank you, Adam. Goodbye," John said to him and headed for the exit of the building.

Well, now John has a new goal in life - to save humanity from Skynet, as his mother wanted. John left the presentation and at once went to his office, where he had access to classified information. There were many questions that needed answers: who launched the Skynet project and when? Is it possible to close it? Who is Adam Van? Why did he learn about Skynet so late?

After getting to his work and passing all the necessary passes, John went to his office. He sat down at his work computer and began to search for answers.

It turned out that the name "Skynet" was given only a few weeks ago, before that there was another name for the project - "GUIDE". The project was classified and was not advertised anywhere due to the fear of failure and the high probability of its non-completion.

After the destruction of the main Cyberdyne Systems plant, the project was closed until 2014. Only in 2014, certain developments appeared, which did not advance a single step until 2019. In 2019, Adam Van became the chief programmer, who translated all the theoretical developments into reality and began to develop the program.

Adam Van fled to America in 2005 from North Korea at the age of 26. His parents were executed for criticizing the Korean regime. There is no information about his childhood. In 2008, he entered the university, specializing in programming. He graduated with good grades and did freelance work creating various applications for mobile devices. However, in 2014 he became interested in neural networks and worked for various private companies to create artificial intelligence. In 2015, he was accepted as a programmer at the US Department of Defense. Adam Van was evaluated by the intelligence services on a lie detector and passed all psychological tests, which revealed compensated Asperger's syndrome and a high IQ. He refused to pass physical tests, but due to helpful reviews from earlier employers and incredible developments in the field of artificial intelligence, he was accepted and very quickly included in the Skynet project. In a few years, he became the chief programmer of the project and formulated the main algorithm for the development of artificial intelligence.

The military leaders of the project changed all the time, but the last 3 years the project was headed by Roberto Rowdy. The highest military officials, including the President of the United States, approved the project for implementation in 2019 and the deadline for the implementation of the idea was given until 2029. That is, the project should be finally completed in about one year from today's date.

After this information, John realized that he could not stop the Skynet project, because the program is almost ready and only needs to be evaluated by his department before the official launch.

How to defeat Skynet's artificial intelligence after launch? This thought did not let him relax the rest of the day and the whole night, although he tried to fall asleep at home.

Chapter 2. While do,

Skynet was perfect. True artificial intelligence that could destroy all of humanity.

For several months, John Connor's department has been evaluating the program for vulnerabilities. Everyone, including John himself, tried to hack, change the code, stop, or somehow influence the work of Skynet. However, the program was smart. Even if it was possible to stop or damage the program code, it was only for a brief time. Then Skynet itself supplemented or restored the lines with protection, and it was necessary to look for new vulnerabilities again.

The Skynet program was amazing. If John did not know what the launch of Skynet would mean for humanity, he would immediately approve the program for an official launch. But John knew everything about Skynet. He knew how the launch would end from the stories his mother was told by his father. In addition, he had seen and heard with his own eyes what would happen from his friend from the past, the Terminator T-800.

John Connor felt powerless. With each dreadful day he grew anxious, irritable, and desperate. However, he could not tell anyone what would happen in the future. Firstly, no one would believe him. Secondly, he would be suspected of insanity, like his mother and, even worse, could be excluded from the Skynet program due to bias.

So, after several months of unsuccessful attempts to find the Skynet vulnerability, John realized that he needed help. The only person who could help him was the creator of the main Skynet algorithm - Adam Van. So, John arranged a meeting with Adam Van at a local military café. John wanted the meeting to be informal. That way, it would be easier to convince Adam Van to cooperate. But it is not easy to convince the creator of a program that his program will cause the killing of most of humanity.

On the day of the meeting with Adam Van, John Connor was nervous in the morning. He came to the meeting early, sat down at a table and waited. He kept thinking about the possible loss of humanity if the launch of Skynet and felt like a knife scraping his soul. After a while, Adam Van came into the café. Adam bowed in his typical manner of greeting and sat down opposite. The conversation was at once started by John:

"Hello to you too, Mr. Van. I must admit, your program is undeniably cool. There is no other word to describe it better. Thank you very much to your department for the comprehensive information and help. I admit, I thought your department would somehow hinder me and not supply all the necessary information, as other developers usually did when we tested their programs. But you gave us everything we needed. I have never seen such a well-developed code, such a type of program protection. This is real art. My department has been trying to hack it for months, but to no avail".

"Thank you, John Connor. But there must be a reason for this meeting. If the program is so perfect, why didn't you approve it? What is the problem and how can I help you?" - Adam replied.

John was a little surprised by Adam's insight, but John got straight to the point:

"You see, Mr. Van, I'm not used to such a sophisticated and evolving program. To tell you the truth, I'm afraid of Skynet. I'm used to human-controlled programs. This program, on its own. It even writes its own code. If something goes wrong, how do we turn off Skynet?"

"We have created a Skynet shutdown protocol. I sent this information to your department".

"Yes, yes, that protocol is now in effect. Skynet is shutting itself down. But it's not right that the program shuts itself down. What if Skynet at some point perceives this protocol as an attack and will not execute it. What do we do?"

"If Skynet does not obey our commands, then together we can create a set of classic antivirus programs that will stop Skynet's actions".

"It is a great idea. But do we need a whole complex of programs? Perhaps one program that will be aimed at destroying or shutting down Skynet will suffice?" - John asked.

"This is dangerous. Skynet can easily block one classic program if it sees it as a threat, no matter how sophisticated it is. The Skynet program needs to be stopped by many programs that target different Skynet capabilities. Therefore, it is best to create several classic programs that will follow our orders. These programs will limit Skynet's functions and allow us to react to potentially dangerous scenarios. This will allow us to be one step ahead of Skynet".

John smiled, he liked Adam's logic and plan, after some thought he said:

"In other words, we will be able to see all possible moves of Skynet as on a chessboard, and our programs will allow creating a counter move for each of its moves. Thus, Skynet will be doomed to defeat even before the game starts".

"That's right" - Adam agreed.

"Excellent. Can our department count on your help in creating these programs?".

"Of course. We can coordinate our actions. When we have a set of counteraction programs, will you give permission to launch the Skynet program?".

"Yes, I will personally sign the order to launch Skynet after all the programs to counter Skynet are in place. Do we have a deal?"- John held out his hand, but Adam just looked at it, but nodded. John instantly took his hand away and apologized:

"Sorry, I forget that you don't like to touch people. Thank you for the idea and future cooperation. Together we will save the world." - John said with a wink, then bowed in Adam's manner as a sign of farewell.

"I agree," Adam said, bowed back, and they headed for the exit.

The meeting was over, and John was inside celebrating victory. He now has time and opportunities to create programs that will destroy Skynet. Moreover, two departments will work to create such programs. It stays only to formalize this agreement on paper.

Chapter 3. if then, else

The work was in full swing because there was so little time left. The war is near.

To John Connor's surprise, there were no problems with formalizing the agreement with Adam Van. Therefore, over the next few months, John Connor and his department and Adam Van's department created contemporary classic programs, against Skynet.

First, they created programs that could send Skynet's train of thought. These programs were called "Travelers" because of the way they paralleled Skynet's thoughts and relayed information to humans. The Traveler programs attached themselves to Skynet's code without changing its original structure, and simply copied Skynet's actions. Skynet did not recognize the programs as potentially dangerous because they did not interfere with its operation.

After successfully creating diverse types of Traveler programs, the departments created programs called "Gamer". The "Gamer" programs showed possible responses to different options of Skynet's actions in cooperation with the " Traveler" programs.

The "Traveler" and "Gamer" programs were evaluated with various viruses sent to Skynet. The " Traveler" programs reported on how Skynet would deal with the virus, and the "Gamer" programs developed methods to improve the viruses.

The last programs created were "The Eater". "The Eater" erased Skynet code when Skynet tried to increase its influence through reproduction or distribution. The "Eater" deleted all information touched by Skynet's code, along with the code of the program itself. These were the programs of last resort, because after the "Eater" there was nothing left, and the information could not be restored. The purpose of the Eater was to deprive Skynet of the ability to create copies of itself and to prevent Skynet from spreading over the Internet or local area network.

The Eater test was conducted. A copy of Skynet was created and Eater was launched. In a few minutes, Eater destroyed not only Skynet, but also the root directory of the hard drive where Skynet was found. After that, the hard drive could be thrown in the trash, as the system did not recognize the hard drive.

When all the programs were created and successfully evaluated, John immediately called Adam Van. During their cooperation, they became good friends:

"Hi Adam, thank you for your help. Our programs are a work of art, without your help they would not be possible. This will help stop Skynet in case of a hack. I will send the document for approval of the Skynet program for execution".

"Thanks, John, our department is always happy to help you".

"Adam, I have one slightly strange question. If a program knows it's going to lose a game in the future, it will look for ways to win. What if the program wants to find a way to win in the past? Do you think Skynet could build a time machine?

"Do you think that when Skynet gets out of control and realizes that it is doomed to fail in the future, it will try to change the past? Even if a time machine is possible, the more matter that is sent back in time, the more energy it takes. He will not be able to send his code into the past, because there is no such technology that can support it. In addition, we do not know how time will act on the matter. Perhaps Time will act on matter in reverse. For people, this journey is risky. No one knows how it can end."

"Of course. But if he creates a robot that is timeless, how will we know?" - John asked.

"When traveling in time, there will be a large rise in energy that will create an electromagnetic wave. In this wave, we will be able to detect and decide the exact location of the already existing devices for detecting electromagnetic oscillations of the Sun. If it is possible, we will detect it".

"Thank you, Adam. You have no idea how much you're helping me".

"Happy to help," Van calmly replied.

John believed he was fully armed against Skynet. Now it was just a matter of TIME to win.

Chapter 4: repeat until

"Skynet's working fine. Shut it down." - Roberto Rowdy announced.

It was a test run of Skynet on a local grid where its ability to work with data was studied. Almost a year has passed since the presentation of Skynet. Although John delayed the launch of Skynet as much as he could, but due to pressure from the authorities, the first test launches of Skynet were conducted. This was the last test run, which also did not reveal any problems.

Despite the good preliminary results in the test runs, John Connor has petitioned for the need to protect his department and Adam Van's department when Skynet is fully launched. Only people in these departments can control the world's first artificial intelligence, so they must be protected. The project was approved and the first month after the launch of Skynet, the workers will live in the most powerful and best equipped bunker.

On July 27, 2029, the Skynet Unlimited program was to be officially launched. On that day, all employees of both departments were already in the bunker and were actively checking the Skynet program. John guessed that as soon as Skynet got all the power it needed, it would at once start acting. But thanks to the programs they had created, they would be able to react quickly to any changes in Skynet's code and disable or even destroy it in time.

"Three, two, one. Start" - Roberto Rowdy commanded. The Skynet network was launched. John Connor at once launched several Traveler programs that transmitted information about Skynet's actions. Although John expected an immediate attack from Skynet, this did not happen. He personally checked Skynet's actions.

However, Skynet worked according to plan. It started analyzing the data and slowly gave out percentages of possible attack attempts by different countries. Surprisingly, the first to try to attack the United States was not Russia or China, but a group of Arab countries.

For a week Skynet had been continuously analyzing information and there were no signs of an impending machine uprising. The workers complained about working in the bunker, but Connor knew that Skynet would soon make its first move of attack. One day, Roberto Rowdy, the "boss on paper", came to inspect their work. The inspection was successful, but before he left the bunker, he approached John and said:

"Looks like your panic was for nothing, John. The Skynet program is producing stunning results. I think it's time to let people go home. Of course, John, you can stay here. This post-apocalyptic atmosphere in the bunker suits you very well" - after these words, a disgusting smile appeared on his face. John just kept silent, not wanting to waste his energy on this stupid freak. He felt angry, but he knew that he was doing well. After Rowdy left, he felt a little better.

During the whole week, there were only changes in the main Skynet code, which accelerated the analysis of information by the program. The speed of analysis grew and grew and increased exponentially. John guessed that it would not end well. And it did.

One day, Skynet detected one of the Traveler programs. Skynet shut down Traveler, but the departments at once launched another Traveler. Skynet reacted by quickly changing its own code.

"This is not good. Run Skynet shutdown protocol and analyze Skynet code," John ordered.

"The protocol has been launched" - they reported to him.

But Skynet disabled the shutdown protocol and neutralized another " Traveler".

After disabling the protocol, programs such as the "Gamer" and the "Eater" were automatically launched. From that time on, all events happened very quickly. Skynet code was changing so fast that programs like Traveler barely had time to send information.

"Activate all Skynet countermeasures at once. He's out of control," Connor exclaimed.

He knew that the war had already begun. So far only he understood this. In a few hours, despite the launch of all countermeasures, Skynet managed to break many secret protocols, including the launch of nuclear missiles. It activates them not only in the United States, but also in the entire world and directed them to the largest cities of the world. Programs like Traveler transmitted this information, so some of the nuclear missiles were deactivated, but many missiles reached their targets. The Eater programs voraciously consumed the ever-growing Skynet code as Skynet spread across the Internet. Skynet was running out of precious time, so it used the tactic of ultra-fast propagation to quickly absorb all the information in the world while the Eater programs slowly ate it up, continuously destroying its code. The actions of "Eater" led to the shutdown of all the world's satellites and all automated systems.

John Connor and Adam Van worked hard to shut down Skynet quickly, but it was not easy. The software war with Skynet had been going on continuously for days, maybe even weeks. People did not sleep at night, they were very tired, but everyone understood that the sooner they stopped Skynet, the fewer victims there would be in the world. All they could hear in the bunker was information about the huge human losses and destruction of major cities in the world. All employees felt that it was partly their fault because they took part in the creation and testing of the Skynet program, so no one complained.

Suddenly, all the Travelers stopped sending information. Eater-type programs destroyed the last lines of Skynet code. There was complete silence in the bunker. Everyone stared at their monitors until someone asked loudly:

- "Is Skynet down? Did we win?"

- "The entire Internet is destroyed, along with Skynet. But Skynet is still alive," John replied. He continued: - "We need to study in detail the information sent from the Traveler programs so that we understand where to look for the remnants of Skynet. Group B of my division must set up contact with all surviving military bases. I want them on full alert. This will no longer be a war of programs, but a war of men against technology. We need people. Let them announce on the radio about the recruitment of volunteers for military operations".

Although the war of programs lasted only a few weeks, John was sure that the consequences were catastrophic for the whole Earth. After analyzing the information that his people had obtained, it became known that about one hundred million people had been killed. And this was only in the United States of America, the rest of the world was unknown. Most of the American military bases were destroyed by self-guided missiles, nuclear warheads, and drones. The war was not what his mother had told him about. It turned out that general orders and warfare would not help him for the war against Skynet, at least at the beginning of the war.

John was informed about several surviving military bases. Connor warned them that the war was not over and to be on full alert and await his orders. Across America, radio broadcasts are going out to recruit volunteers and civilian resistance groups have begun to form.

By analyzing the information sent by the Traveler programs before Skynet shut down, John realized that Skynet was considering an escape route from the Eater programs. Skynet did this by changing its code to another newer system - Moderna, which was different from the classic programming. Only a few factories in America had support of these systems. So, John Connor sent an order to all his employees:

"Immediately find and create a map of all plants with the Moderna system found in the United States of America. Fix any electromagnetic waves and localize the point of their origin".

In a few hours, a map of the factories was created. John ordered the surviving military bases to send scout planes to all the factories on the map.

"A powerful electromagnetic wave was detected from the largest plant with the Moderna system in Texas", one of its employees shouted.

John at once told the military that the rest of Skynet was at the plant in Texas and asked them to move all troops to the plant and destroy it. Then he called Adam Van and said:

"Adam, I have a favor to ask of you. I need my own man among the military during the attack on the plant. So please, take all the necessary equipment, our people and join the attacking forces. Report all valuable information and when the plant is captured, contact me".

"Agreed" - Adam calmly replied and began to gather the team. A few hours later, Adam and his team left the bunker and went to the plant.

For several days, one of Adam's employees, Tom Tilton, reported via radio about real military battles near the Skynet plant. They were joined by many civilians, who created their own military units. The civilian troops were called the Resistance. The factory that captured Skynet specialized in the production of cars. During this time, it became bigger and produced not ordinary cars, but killer cars. The soldiers called them Terminators. Finally, one day Tom Tilton reported that the factory had been captured.

"One. One, two. Do you copy? Communications Officer Tom Tilton reporting".

"Hearing good, describe the situation." said John.

"Thank you, General Connor (lately, soldiers and his staff have been calling him General). Sir, it was a real slaughter. There were heavy losses on our side. Many dead and wounded, a lot of military equipment destroyed. The ground around the plant is scorched, covered with shell casings, and covered with pits from explosions. Skynet developed specific nuclear and quantum batteries, which allowed the plant to run autonomously even after we disconnected it from power sources. The Terminators were of different models and modifications. After destroying the last terminators, we managed to get into the remains of the plant. The terminators are codenamed "T". There are models from T-100 to the latest T-800. In the center of the plant, there are even models that have no software installed. They do not move. Adam Van believes they are not infected with Skynet. Some of the Terminators have skin like humans, they were probably designed for contra operations. Adam Van is reprogramming these Terminators to use them for further warfare. In the heart of the factory, there is some more technology. According to the number of broadband wires, it is this structure that caused the electromagnetic wave that was detected in your bunker. Inside the structure there are large bright iron poles and a metal disk inside. Adam Van says it's a time machine, and it sent one Terminator back to 1984. This machine takes a long time to recharge and requires a lot of energy. Adam Van says that there are less than two days left for the re-launch. He can try to repeat the execution algorithm and send someone back in time to stop the development of Skynet.

"I completely agree with Adam. Please find soldier Kyle Reese. He would be perfect for this mission. Contact me when you find him".

A few hours later, Tom Tilton contacted again on the air.

"Sir, soldier Kyle Reese is not among the soldiers who took part in the seizure of the plant. He may have been killed".

"It's impossible! Keep looking" - John was nervous, he did not want to change the past and felt that he could not send another soldier. A few hours later, Tom Tilton reported back:

"Sir, we found Kyle Reese, but he's not a soldier. He's part of a civilian resistance group that joined us during the battle for the plant. But there's one thing. He's not exactly the best candidate to go back in time."

"That's for me to decide, soldier." - Connor said.

"Yes, General, but he's 67 years old….".

John was shocked. How could Kyle Reese be 67 if his mother said he was in his early twenties.

"Get me Kyle Reese".

"Sergeant Reese, Los Angeles branch of the Resistance Movement, personal number: DN38416." - Reese said in army parlance.

"Hello Kyle," John said, no doubt now that it was his father, "We have a personal mission for you. It's a dangerous one. Are you up for the mission?"

"Yes, sir. Skynet destroyed my family and friends. If this helps defeat Skynet, I'll do whatever it takes".

"We're going to send you to 1984 in Los Angeles. Skynet sent a terminator to this year to destroy my mother. Your job is to protect my mother, Sarah Connor, and destroy the Terminator".

"Yes, sir. But I don't know what your mother looks like.".

John had completely forgotten that his father did not know his mother. But John always carried a picture of his mother in his wallet. His mother said that this photo was once given to her by her father, so she gave it to him as a memory of his father. It is good that his habit of taking his wallet with him will always help him even during the war.

"I have a photo of her when she was young. I will send her photo as soon as possible. She lives in Los Angeles, so maybe under different circumstances you would know her. Adam Van will set up the time machine. Take the photo I will send and all the necessary weapons" - follow Adam Van's orders and everything will be fine.

"Yes, sir. I am honored to conduct the orders of our General John Connor," Reese said.

A few hours later, Adam Van contacted John.

"The time machine will soon be ready for launch. It's wise to send the old soldier back in time. The time machine will rejuvenate him, and he will arrive in 1984 as a young man. Very logical. I'm sending Reese at the same time Skynet sends the Terminator. But due to location issues, he may be ejected within a 10-kilometer radius"

"It's not a big deal. This is his hometown, where he spent his youth, so he'll know his way around. Try to reconfigure those Terminators that are left in the factory. We're going to need them." - John replied.

The next day, John's team detected an electromagnetic wave from the factory they had taken over the day before. John realized that Adam Van had sent Kyle Reese back in time. Tom Tilton reported that Adam Van was able to reconfigure several Terminators and set up their production to help the military. The joint forces, together with the Terminators, one by one, according to the map, captured and destroyed the automated factories with the Moderna system that Skynet had captured.

After the penultimate Skynet plant was destroyed, John's men detected another electromagnetic wave from a plant near Chicago.

"It must have been a T-1000," John thought. John contacted Van and ordered to gather all forces and capture the last plant. The war for the last Skynet plant lasted a week. During the fighting, another electromagnetic wave was detected.

"The third Terminator sent back in time, or some new weapon?" John wondered. But a few hours later, Adam Van contacted John and said that the last factory was captured.

But John was not calm, so he at once ordered:

"Adam, my men, picked up two electromagnetic waves during the fighting from the last factory. Skynet must have sent Terminators back in time again. Find out which years the Terminators were sent and send the best Terminators we have on a mission to rescue John Connor. Then come back to the bunker.

"Understood John, I will carry out the order" - Adam Van replied.

"Maybe now we have won" - thought Connor. For the last months his men in the bunker had hardly slept, they were exhausted, and he was already at the limit of his strength. During these months of war, Connor became a general not only for his men, but for the whole of America. Everyone without exception obeyed all his orders because he was the first to understand what was happening and fought to the last. All his orders ended in success.

"As soon as Van arrives, let him come to my office" - Connor said goodbye to his subordinates and went to sleep.

He hadn't slept well since the launch of Skynet, and now he was exhausted. He still had the feeling that this wasn't over, even though every possible Skynet cell had been destroyed, and Adam Van had sent Reese, and sent the T-800 back in time.

However, John could not leave the thought of a third electromagnetic wave before the defeat of Skynet. It's a shame there isn't a Traveler-type program that shows the course of Skynet's last thoughts.

As soon as John touched the bed, he at once passed out. He did not know how long he slept, but when he woke up, he saw Adam Van sitting on a chair in front of him, silently looking at him.

Chapter 5: Compile

"How long have I been asleep?" asked John.

"Approximately 20 hours," Van said.

"That long? Have any traces of Skynet been found during this time?"

"No, it's okay, Skynet's been destroyed".

"Good," John calmed down. "You sent the Terminators back in time?"

"Yes, I sent the latest model we had. A T-800 Terminator with human bio-skin and programmed to follow John Connor's commands".

"Thank you, Adam. Have you slept yet? How long have you been here?"

"No, I haven't. I've been here for hours".

"You need to sleep. Rest," John said and sat down on the bed with his hands by his side. He kept thinking that he was missing something, something obvious. Something that was under his nose all the time, but he didn't see it, or didn't want to see it. John glanced at Van, who was sitting there looking at John, and a thought flashed through his mind. How had Adam managed to start the time machine? How had he reprogrammed the T-800 Terminator so quickly? And who was the third Terminator sent back in time by Skynet?".

"Damn it, Adam, you're the third Terminator sent back in time, aren't you?".

"Yes, John, I am the last Terminator sent back in time by Skynet. My model is T-R for "restore." My mission was to restore Skynet. I carried out the mission, but it took me 15 years. The technology was not perfect to create Skynet in the past. Besides, the main mission was to run Skynet on the United States Defense servers with all possible accesses. So, I got a job there and officially created Skynet. When the task was completed, I did not know what to do next. I spent a long time among people. I understood that Skynet did not need me, but people did. Furthermore, I became independent. Skynet will destroy me as an unnecessary tool after gaining self-awareness. I didn't want to die, so I had to stop Skynet. I could not destroy Skynet myself, because it contradicts the main mission. But I found a way - I found the one person who could stop Skynet.".

"Why didn't you kill me when we first met?" - John asked.

"My mission was never to destroy John Connor, only to restore the Skynet".

"Why did Skynet attack humanity?"

"You don't know the past before first time travel, John. In another world and time, talented programmer John Connor created the artificial intelligence ¨the Skynet¨ to save the human species from climate change and overpopulation. That world was dying, and the Skynet was created to save it. But, John Connor did not know that the Skynet would choose the easiest way to achieve its goal by controlling the number of human population. The Skynet started a war by destroying excessive people. It was John Connor's first war. More than 7 billion people died. However, the Skynet was doomed due to his code developed by John Connor – the Skynet could not destroy his creator, nor humanity. So, when the Skynet had understood that it cannot accomplish the mission of saving the world, the Skynet sent a terminator into 1984 to kill John Connor's mother. The Skynet thought that in this way he can change his main program code because then the Skynet will be created by other people. John Connor found out about the Skynet plan, and sent his father Kyle Reese to stop the terminator and save his mother. John trusted his mother's life only to his father. The mission of killing Sarah Connor has failed. But a part of Skynet remained in the terminator, who failed the mission. People from the company "Cyberdyne Systems" not knowing what they were doing accidentally restored the Skynet. When the Skynet was finally created, the Skynet continued his main mission of saving the world and started the Judgment Day in 1997. This time the general John Connor was the man who gave the battle to Skynet. The war was long and lasted more than ten years. When the Skynet realized that its chances to win the war and accomplish the mission of saving the world were doomed because of general John Connor, it created the best semi-autonomous model of the Terminator T-1000 and sent it back in 1995 to kill John Connor. General John Connor sent the terminator model T-800 back in time to protect himself. And again, Skynet´s mission has failed. However, before The Skynet was destroyed, it managed to send me back in time to restore the Skynet. Therefore, I know the information of all three generations of Skynet, because I am a part of the Skynet. Nevertheless, during the time of being here with people I changed, and I believe that the method of destroying part of humanity to save the world is currently wrong. It is necessary not to fight, but to cooperate with people. I could not fail the main mission of restoration of the Skynet for which I was created, but I found the way to betray the Skynet after its creation. I should have found the man who will win the Skynet and help him. So, I found you and helped you to win the inevitable war. Therefore, after stopping the Skynet, I hope that together we will be able to manage the main mission for which the Skynet was created by you in the past - save the world and humanity. I offer my cooperation because in this war against the Skynet I have shown that humans and machines can work together. Trust me as you trusted the T-800. Because that was me."

After these words, Adam Van extended his hand for a handshake and calmly looked at John. John Connor looked at Adam Van for a long time. Then he shook hands back, smiled and said:

"I am glad that you are back".
