Before leaving for home , Walter returned to his office followed by Ralph . As he entered his internal phone rang . " Hello . "

" Mr O'Brian , Mr Eli would like to see you before you leave . " Mr Eli's secetary told him .

" On my way . " He put the phone down and turned to Ralph . " Richard wants to see me , you can wait in Susan's office while i see Richard . "

" Ok dad . "

Five minutes later they were both standing in Susan's office " Good afternoon Mr O'Brian , Richard said to go right in . But first please introduce me to this young man "

" Of course Susan please meet my son Ralph . "

" I heard you and your family were in the resturant , you know how quick gossip spreads around the office . It is really nice to meet you Ralph . "

Ralph extended his hand to shake Susan's hand . " It is a pleasure to meet you to , my i call you Susan ? "

" Of course you can . " She told Ralph , before turning to Walter . " What a well mannered young man . "

" Thank you . You stay here and don't bother Susan . I will go and see Richard . "

" Ok dad . "

Walter turned and knocked on Richard's office door before walking in . " Good afternoon Richard . "

" Good afternoon Walter , please take a seat . "

Walter sat down on one of the chairs in front of Richard's desk .

" Mark phoned about a hour ago to ask to keep the cars a bit longer . He was full of praise for both you and Paige , it seems beside the first two drug busts they carried out first on Saturday . On Sunday they also found someone who was smuggling blood diamonds , another drug bust and a human trafficer . They have turned the drug cases over to LAPD drug squad , the blood diamond case and gun runner cases will be handed to the FBI .

At first the human trafficer was taken to Homeland HQ and would not say anything , but then Tuesday morning , he requested an interview and apparently he spilled everything he knew . That as now become a combined agency case of the FBI , Homeland Security and Border Control . They are still processing the other names you gave them and apparantly Paige supplied something on her internet search on Jake Summers that his Agents had missed so they have now got a warrent . He asked me to tell Paige , thank you , it would appear Scorpion is still working . "

Walter laughed . " No chance , we are both more than happy with life as it is now . I have Ralph waiting for me in Susan's office , i bought him in with me after our visit to Ann's to introduce him to my team . He in the space of thirty minutes managed to sort two problems out that the team have been trying to sort out out for almost a month . With a few more tests we should be able to go into production of the smaller hoist and the indvidual solar powered water filter . "

" He did ! "

Walter just nodded . Richard picked up his internal phone . " Susan could you bring Ralph in together with my chequebook . "

"Certainly sir . "

A couple of minutes later Susan , followed by Ralph came into the office .

" Good afternoon Ralph , please sit down by your dad ."

" Thank you sir and good afternoon to you ." Ralph said as he sat down on the chair next to his dad .

Richard thanked Susan as she handed him the cheque book . " I hear you have been a help to your dad's team , which i thank you for . "

" I just spotted a couple of errors , i am sure they would have found them on their own . " Said a smiling Ralph .

" Maybe ! But they have been trying to correct the problem for almost a month . " Richard told him , while he had been talking he had written two cheques both for $500 , which he handed to Ralph .

" One is made out to you , one to Walter , but it is really for your new sister Megan . I am sure Walter will know what to do with it . " Richard told him .

Ralph took the cheques and handed the one to Walter , he then looked at the cheque and saw the amount .

" Mr Eli , this is far to much , i only looked over their shoulders for a short time , i am sure they would have found the problem themselves . "

" But that is the problem , they have been looking for almost a month and have not found them . They may have found eventually , however you have solved them . It means they can get on with other work , which i am sure Walter can find them . " Richard told him .

Walter a big smile on his face . " Thank you Richard , but i have to admit i did a quick look myself and did not see them , i just hope we can start production soon . I would also like to thank you on behalf of Megan . We are going shopping on Saturday for a stroller and car seats for both our cars . So we will be able to tell her that Uncle Richard bought them for her . That is if you do not mind being a surrogate uncle . "

" I would be honoured to carry that title , thank you . " A now smiling Richard told him .

" Well if you don't mind , i was thinking of calling it a day and going home to my two favourite ladies . " Walter told him .

" You get off and give , my recently gained niece ,a kiss from me . You young man anytime Walter wants to bring you to work you will be welcome. Maybe next school break , you would like to come and spend a day and i will arrange a complete guided tour around all the offices and workshops . You never know you might solve some of their problems . "

A big smile broke out on Ralph's face . " I would really love to do that , but i need to get permission from both mom and dad . "

" I don't think that will be a problem , but it is good you remembered that you need to include both of us in decisions concerning you . " Walter told him the smile still on his face . .

Richard still had the smile on his face from becoming a surragate uncle . " I hope once you leave college you might consider coming to work for me . "

" If it means working around dad , i would be more than willing , thank you . " Ralph told him .

Both Walter and Ralph left Richard , who still had a smile on his face , and made their way back to Wallter's office . " Just got to pick my keys up and then we can go home and see your mom and sister . "

On the way home , Ralph turned to Walter . " I have wanted to ask you something ever since you came back into our lives , but i don't know if i really need to know the answer . "

Walter did not take his eyes of the road as he answered . " There is only you know what you want , but don't keep it to yourself . You need to make a decision or it will begin to fester and you will keep coming up with your own answers which will most likely be worse than the truth . "

Ralph smiled . " Thanks dad , i wanted to know what happened to Ferret Bueller when you closed the garage ? "

Walter gave a smsll smile . " You don't need to worry , he his very happy in his new home . In fact he became a new dad two weeks ago . The man i gave him to already had got two female ferrets . "

" I am glad he as a good home . Thank you dad . " Ralph replied .

" My pleasure . " A smiling Walter replied .

Paige was surprised as her two two favourite men walked through the door at such an early time .

" Well this is such a pleasant surprise , i hope all is well . " Paige said as she rushed across to both of them and just about managed to pull them both into a hug .

" Ralph was a really helpful this afternoon , i am glad i took him to work . " Walter said as he then managed to kiss Paige .

At that an excited Ralph began to tell her all about what he had done that afternoon , finally producing his cheque for $500 . " Dad as also got one but that is for Megan from Uncle Richard . "

Paige looked complexed . " Uncle Richard ? "

Walter gave a small laugh . " My fault when he gave me the cheque , i told him we were going shopping for a stroller and car seats , so we can tell her they were a present from Uncle Richard , if he did not mind carrying that title . He said he would be honoured to have that title to his new niece . "

" That was most kind of him , i will send him a small thank you note from Megan . I have not started the evening meal yet as i did not expect you home this early . "

" We can wait until the normal time . Have you started anything yet ? " Walter asked a big smile on his face .

" Not yet but i do need to start it now . " Paige replied .

" I know we can order Chinese a little later to save you cooking ."

Both Paige and Ralph said together . " Cool . "

By now they had all sat down on the sofa . After a few minutes Walter broke the silence .

" I was speaking to Sam this morning . "

Paige interupted . " Sam ? "

It was Ralph who answered . " She is a bit like Happy , she put my idea into practise this afternoon and got it working . "

Walter smiled as he began speaking again . " She is actually a fully qualified Mechanical and Electrtical engineer . I was asking if she knew any decent electrians and carperteners . What she suggested was that she would like to look at what is actually required and then maybe do the work herself for us . Her girlfriend is a cabin crew member on long haul flights and is away until Sunday . I said i would speak to you first . "

" Well if someone you know and trust , how about you invite her to your house straight from work . Maybe you could pick up pizza before you come home . " A smiling Paige suggested

" That sounds a good idea , ok with you Ralph ? "

A big smile broke out on Ralp's face . " You bet . "

Suddenly they were surprised to here Da, Da , coming over the baby monitor .

" It would seem your daughter knows you are here . " Paige said as she got off the sofa and made her way to the bedroom .

Twenty minutes later she was back . " I decided to feed and change her , all though it was a bit of a struggle , as i had a job keeping her still as she was kicking her legs and throwing her arms around while uttering Da , Da .

She gently handed Megan over to Walter a big smile on her face and uttering Da, Da. Paige sat down by Walter and cuddled up close to him . " While you and Ralph were enjoying yourself this afternoon , i was checking the internet . On Sunday there is an auction that might be of interest . "

Both Walter and Ralph said . " What ? "

A big smile came on her face . " There is a Movie theatre in down town L.A. that closed down well over ten years ago . Well someone as bought it and wants to turn it into a theatre restaurant , were performances take place at various times during the time the customers are enjoying good food and wine . The new owner wants to sell off almost everything of the internal fittings and fixtures . As you have already said the movie room is mine , would you like to come with me ? "

A smiling Walter said . " I think we had better if only to stop you spending to much money . " Paige turned and gave Walter a kiss on the cheek . " Little old me ? "

Which caused them all to laugh and Megan to giggle .

The four of them were content to just sit on the sofa , Walter at times talking to Megan , telling all about what Ralph had done today , which caused her to utter an occasional Ral . Everytime she did it , a smile came onto both Paige and Ralph's face .

After about a hour , Paige still cuddled up to Walter , but by now with her head on his shoulder , asked without changing her position ." Do you think Ann was correct that Megan feels insecure around strangers ? "

Walter did ot speak for a while , he turned so his full attention was on Paige . " It could be another sign she his a genius , do you remember if Ralph ever acted like that while he was the same sort of age ? "

Paige looked straight into Walter's eyes before she began speaking . " At Megan's age , he did not really see a lot of strangers . But as he grew a little older and was able to walk , he would always cling tight to me and at times he would try and hide behind me . But the one thing he never did was speak , he was almost six before he even called me mom and that was only when we were on our own .

" We will make sure Megan gets to mix with lots of people , so it will not happen to her . " Walter told her .

" Then roll on Saturday when we get a stoller and car seats so the little princess can get used to the world around her quicker . Now i think it is time to order Chinese .

The next day Walter went down to see Sam , who agreed to come to his house tonight , not only to look at the work that Walter wanted doing , but also to meet the rest of his family .

Paige had gone over to the house once she dropped Ralph off at school , the first thing she did after making coffee for herself was to ring the Salvation Army . Having explained what was available and the quality and quanity , the person she spoke to agreed they would send a van around to the house for 11.00am on Monday morning . Paige also explained that at a later date there maybe furniture , bric a brac, and some art work , which she was told would also be appreciated .

Once she had finished the phone call , she went back to sort the clothes , her first job was to check the pockets of all the coats and jackets , which she had not even thought to do . It took her over a hour to do this task , ending up with $90 , two gold cigerette lighters and one empty wallet .

Before it was time to go for lunch with Walter she managed to empty the last of the wardrobes of all the clothes . Again after checking all the pockets , this time she found $10 plus a gold chain .

She still needed to empty out the handbags and shoes , but they would have to wait until the next day . She realized she still had thirty minutes before she needed to leave to have lunch with Walter . Megan who spent most of the morning giggerling and uttering Mo,Mo. She had now fallen asleep , so Paige decided to begin , moving the clothing down to the conservatory until it was time to leave for lunch with Walter . She managed to clear all the clothes from one of the bedrooms .

By 12.30pm she was parked up waiting for Walter and as if Megan knew it as Walter came out of the door she woke up and uttered Da, Da. They spent the lunch hour , with general chat . Walter told Paige Sam would be coming over tonight . Megan spent most of the time in Walter's arms . Paige told Walter all about her telephone conversation with the Salvation Army .

Once Paige had collected Ralph from school , they both returned to Walter's house . Paige spent time going through all the handbags and purses . Once Ralph had finished his homework , he began taking the clothing down to the conservatory .

By 5.30pm Paige had checked all the handbags and purses , these provided a lot more items than the jackets annd coats . In total $1200 , five rings a couple of brooches and three more gold chains , plus an assortment of makeup and perfume .

Ralph had managed to clear two other rooms of clothing , all that was left now was Walter's room . Paige decided she would speak to Walter tonight to check if any of the clothes in there were not his .

At 6.15pm Walter pulled his Range Rover up on his drive , Sam pulled her small Fiat 500 alongside it .

She got out of the car and looked at the house . " Wow . " Was all she could manage .

Walter got out of his car and smiled as he heard her , " Come let me introduce you to Paige and Megan . He said as he walked to the door , carrying the pizza and side dishes .

Paige had heared the cars pull up and was opening the door before he reached it . Ralph was behind her and once the door was opened , he slipped in front of her and took some of the food from Walter , giving Walter chance to plant a kiss on Paige's lips .

He then turned to Sam . " Sam this is my fiancee Paige and you already now the food stealer ."

Paige smiled at Sam . " It is a pleasure to meet you .thank you for coming . Please come in . "

Sam returned the smile . " It is a pleasure to meet you to . " The three of them made their way to the kitchen to enjoy the pizza . "

As Sam entered the kitchen , she just let out another "Wow. i think this kitchen is bigger than my apartment . " A big smile on her face .

Paige looked at her " I said much the same the first time i saw it , i cannot wait to move in and fill the cupboards with food and begin cooking again . "

Sam looked a little confused . " You don't live here ? "

Again with a smile on her face Paige replied . " No we are all living in my condo . We were seperated for ten months and Walter only used this kitchen and one bedroom . Once we were back together , he wanted it all deep cleaned , so i did not see it for a few more days . The house was full of clothes , personel belongings , as the previous oweners had died five years earlier . Richard bought the house unseen , once he saw it he felt it was to far from the beach , so he mothballed it until he gave it to Walter . Anyway the second time i saw it we were going through some paperwork and other things . To cut a long story short , because i cannot go into details of what we found . The house became a crime scene , but that as now been cleaned and we hope to move in within the next few weeks . "

Sam had a look of shock on her face . " This house was a crime scene ? I cannot believe this house was a crime scene and why can't you talk about ? "

Paige again was the one to speak . " I don't know what Walter as told you about his past . But up to about eleven months ago , were i walked out on him , over a very silly little thing , he was the owener of a genius led company called Scorpion . Who did a lot of work as contracters for Homeland which meant we had to sign the Secrets Act . Although Scorpion no longer exists we are still both tied into the Secrets Act . All i can tell you is the case is being handled by Homeland and the FBI . "

" Walter interupted . " Border Control is also involved now . "

Paige looked a little surprised . " Since when ? " " Mark phoned Richard this afternoon , but i will fill you in later . Sorry Sam as Paige i cannot talk about the case to you . "

" Wow , you have led an exciting and interesting life , is that what you meant when you told Ralph , Mary was doing a similar job to his mom , but without the danger ? "

" Yes . " Was all Walter would say .

By now the talking had woken Megan up , who immediatly began to utter Da, Da.

Paige walked over to her and gently took her out of the bassenet and passed her to Walter , a big smile appearing on everyones face . "

" Meet our little princess Megan Louise . " A very proud Walter told Sam .

" She his goreous , how old his she ? "

" Four months ." Walter told her .

Paige began to put the food out on the kitchen island and bought over a fresh pot of coffee .

" Ok , everyone lets eat before the food goes cold . " Paige told them .

" About time . " Ralph said which caused everyone to laugh .

Walter managed to eat pizza and french fries while holding Megan safely in his right arm . After a few minutes Megan began to reach out , everytime Walter picked a french fry up and began eating , after about the fourth time , Walter quietly spoke to Megan

" Are you after one of my french fries ? " .

Megan giggled and put her hand out again as Walter picked another french fry up and blew on it to ensure it was not to hot and gently passed it to Megan , who grasped it in her right hand and began to mimic what Walter had just done . Attempting to blow on it and put it in her mouth at first it seemed she was trying to suck the fry , similar to when Paige feeds her , when this did not work she watched Walter and then bit down on the fry and began a chewing motion , even though she still had no teeth , before swollowing . At first her face seemed to scrunch up as if something was unpleasant . But after taking another small bite of the fry , a small smile appeared on her face .

" It looks like our little girl could soon be going on solids , that will give these a bit of a rest . Paige said as she pointed at her breasts , which bought a smile to Walter. 's face .

Once everyone had finished , including Megan who had finished off four fries , although half of what she had tried to eat had ended up on her dress , which Paige had put her in only a hour before Walter and Sam had arrived , some on Walter's shirt sleeve , not that he minded.

They led Sam up to the two loft rooms , Megan safely in Walter's arms . Walter and Ralph told her what they required as she measured up for what would be needed . She made various suggestions , including a seperate fuse box , due to the power required for the computers described to her by Walter and Ralph .

Paige explained what she wanted and also told Sam about Saturday's Auction . After about ninty minutes Sam had all the information she required , they said their goodbyes . Sam told Walter she would see him tomorrow at work .

Paige gently removed Megan from Walter's arms , were she had fell asleep over a hour ago . Both cars pulled up infront of Paige's Condo fourty minutes later and made their way inside . Paige took Megan to the bedroom to change her and get her ready for bed , Walter and Ralph made themselves comfortable on the sofa . Paige did not appear for thirty minutes , she explained that Megan had woken up so she had given her a small feed .

Once she was comfortable settled next to Walter , Walter began to explain what he had been doing this afternoon . Soon after they all decided to go to bed .

Grykon I am sure Richard would be happy to employ both Ralph and Paige , but Paige has other ideas about what she wants to do . Anne certainly seems able to break through to Walter a lot easier than Mr Harvard ever could .

DaToad Walter did say he had checked it but had not spotted it . That would certainly be a twist, but what reason would the three of them have to walk out , maybe we could have a story from you with that twist . I can agree with you about Toby . As i said to Grykon Richard would be happy to employ the whole family .
