Hi everyone! I'm back again. Sorry for disappearing so often. I got back to university so I have a lot more free time now. Surprisingly writing isn't too hard, it's correcting the grammar, spelling mistakes, and post editing that frustrates me the most. Grammarly helps but it's a chore to go through. Thankfully some pretty good AI applications are helping writers get through that hurdle. Don't worry about the quality, I still proofread all my work. If there are any errors just let me know.
Before I start going on a chapter posting spree I'd like to dedicate this one to everyone who's commented and read my work. I never thought people would care about anything I'd write so opening my account always gets me hyped. Regardless of whether it's a positive or negative comment, I appreciate them nonetheless. The comment replies will go from Chapters 1-6 and I'll put them in alphabetical order so it's easier to find your own. I'll be doing this every 6 chapters.
PS: for anyone wanting a mental image, the MC looks like Paul Walker. He was one of my favorite actors growing up as a kid and I wanted to pay my respects in my own way. Oh! And I'm also starting up a new story as well. My brothers really wanted to be included so I'll be writing an SI story with us as characters. It'll be called DC: Shinobi Trifecta.
Chapter 1:
C. L .Jonesy: Yep, those are some of the changes I made actually. He'll be limited in some other way but It won't be devastating. I'm against inserting OP characters into a story and then nerfing them. I think a lot of Fanfic writers do that and it's not my favorite. I won't spoil anything so soon, but I'll say this. I won't limit the MC, I'll just expand the world.
KuroKatBone: Subverting expectations.
TheCyanNinja: That is the plan! The gym hasn't failed me yet.
Travis99: Thank you!
treviondrown: I understand that perspective. It's a problem of personal morality. My dad is a military guy so I think I inherited a lack of empathy for criminals. I love Batman, but in a realistic setting, I wouldn't see myself supporting him. If my brother was murdered because of an escaped criminal that Batman decided to jail instead of kill I'd probably end up with the same mentality as Red Hood or Punisher. Though I do agree that with stories you can write a strong aversion to killing and have it done well. It's just that modern Batman writers haven't given him a good enough reason.
Chapter 2:
BigTofu: Big guys always know what's up.
Cassnova5424: Stop, you're making me blush.
C. L .Jonesy: I'm sorry for leaving you guys dry for so long. I tend to dump a lot of chapters out sporadically. Not a good habit. I'll do better I promise.
Shadow Stalker: OC, not SI. It'll become more clear as the story progresses. I actually have a fun idea in the future that I hope surprises everyone. There was a hint at the beginning of the story…
SirMaou: Don't worry, his issues haven't been fixed just yet. His workout results have mostly come from his powers, but just because you've fixed your body doesn't mean you've fixed your mental state. I learned that a long time ago. With a guy that powerful, his internal character struggle is what will affect him the most.
Scorpian .Sorcerer7: Appreciate it!
TehStorm: Yep, it has to happen fairly quickly. I spent weeks researching the timeline to near perfection. Official Wikis, guides, comics, Reddit forums, Quora answers, etc. I compiled what I think is the most factual MCU timeline. The first Avengers team-up is just around the corner and things are about to start ramping up fast. As for his personality, I definitely get what you mean. There's a whole chapter dedicated to getting him out of that power trip mental state. Imagine being beat down your whole life, and then one day getting one of the most busted power sets in fiction. He needs to get checked now rather than later.
vtorx: Chubby boys need some love too.
Chapter 3:
Aconitum613: Will be coming soon!
BigTofu: Microtransactions… you're a genius! Why create one monster when he can make them all? No joke, I might actually look into that…
Cassnova5424: Exactly. Figuring out everything within a day is great, but doesn't make for a good story. The slow burn always wins in my opinion. Just not too slow.
EdgyNoir: Highly Intelligent with no clue how to use it. Truly a dangerous combination.
roguetrick00: Got it coming!
SirMaou: Inspiration is the main theme. I feel like the original Eidolon would've liked it.
TehStorm: He's cutting weight and building muscle in weeks. We'll see the results soon.
vtorx: I know right… but damn is it popular. It's ridiculous how big TikTok has gotten.
Chapter 4:
GXVIII: Sorry you feel that way. I hope life treats you well!
TehStorm: Impossible. Eidolon looked unattractive and used a bodysuit to emulate muscle mass. If he could he would have powered himself to beauty, but I think he didn't because he can't. You do make a good point with the medicine aspect, but I'd argue working out for a few weeks not only gets the job done but also makes you feel accomplished with your achievements. The training arc was more meant to improve his confidence than it was to get him fit. I do understand the criticism though. The Ancient one… it's almost like you read my mind.
vtorx: Haunts me till this day. Batman writers sure know how to creep you out.
Chapter 5:
EyeofSoren: Hint for the personality switch; The Man Who Broke The Bat.
Wicked.A: Yep, he didn't deserve what happened at all. The MC made a mistake, and he'll be paying for it in the future. I won't say everyone is important, but there are a lot of unexplored Marvel characters that I've placed quietly throughout the story.
Chapter 6:
ArachnidHiveMind: Thank you for understanding. I personally think he didn't change his appearance because he couldn't. Nobody would actively choose to be ugly, and Eidolon's ego would especially not care for it. The majority of Shards stop you from altering yourself in any positive way unless you're someone like Oliver I guess. Even then he couldn't consciously do it. Browbeat is actually a better example than Panacea, you're right. Either way, while this Eidolon and his original differ the principles are mostly the same. The main difference is that his powers have to adhere to the laws of physics and some other restrictions. It'll be explained in future chapters.
PlotArmor: It's based on the MCU movie's post-credit scenes. I'll try and clean it up for future attempts.
RichardF: Thank you for the praise! I always did get confused at where people got this idea that S.H.I.E.L.D. was completely competent at everything. Sure they're pretty good at what they do, but they also had Hydra agents in their agency for decades with not a hint of suspicion. Plus the whole point of Project Insight was that S.H.I.E.L.D. needed more ways to surveil since they couldn't do it accurately enough. I'm not making them complete idiots, just giving it a more grounded outlook.
Smaeg the Immortal: Thank you for the compliments!
TehStorm: I think I've got the reactions done pretty well. The world has seen it, and there's no way of hiding superpowers from them anymore.
TheUnknowableOne: Multiple Chapters coming soon!
Travis99: I got you!
vtorx: As ArachnidHiveMind pointed out, Panacea can't affect herself. Manton limit and whatnot. Eidolon himself can't change his appearance.
