Ch 6 Apparently It Takes No Balls

It took a lot of balls to bang on a demon's door at nine in the morning. Crowley had not been sleeping, but he definitely gave off an aura of someone who didn't get up before noon. He ignored the thump-thumping for several minutes but the deliverers of said noise were persistent little bastards.

He tore open the door, his face menacing.

"What?" he yelled.

"Finally," Nina said, ignoring him and stepping past him and into the apartment. Maggie trailed behind her with a tray of assorted cups.

Apparently it took no balls after all.

"We brought coffee, well espresso. Six shots. And also a tea, just in case…" Maggie looked around the room and then her face fell when she saw it was only Crowley.

"Go away," Crowley said, turning his back on the duo and walking to the other side of the room.

"What is going on?" Nina demanded.

Maggie looked for a place to set down the coffee but every surface looked a little too opulent to use so she kept them in her hands.

"What is going on is that you, after complaining about people meddling in your life, meddled in mine and made a right mess of it." He sat down in a chair that looked more like a throne than the average living room contained, and slung his leg over the arm of it.

"Where is Mr. Fell? We haven't seen him at the shop. It's been weeks," Maggie interceded gently, trying to soften Nina's approach. "We thought he might be here with you."

"Well he's not. And he's not going to be, so you can go."

Crowley briefly considered turning them into toads.

"What did you say to him?" Nina accused.

"I said what you told me to say," Crowley snapped back and then muttered, "I told him how I felt."

"Oh, I'm sorry. But you two are perfect together. Surely he will be the other person just needs time first." Maggie looked at him with such pity in her eyes he considered again the transmogrification.

"You told him how you felt? That you love him?" Nina asked, skeptical.

"Not as such, not with words," he stammered.

"You need to call him."

"It's not that easy, he's…unreachable for the foreseeable future."

"Find a way," Maggie's soft voice matched the way that she looked at Nina, "if you find the one, do what you have to."

"Don't be silly," Nina chastised. "There is not just one person. Plenty of people could make you happy, but that doesn't mean you just let go of them when things get hard."

Crowley stood up abruptly. "No, she's right. Sometimes there is only one." He grabbed the half empty bottle of whiskey and without another word, left the women alone in his living room while he went to his room and drank away all the feelings they brought up.
