It was a sunny afternoon in the human world and Gwen along with her paternal cousin Virgil in downtown Boston. Virgil tagged along with Gwen looking at flowers for her upcoming wedding at a floral shop. As they looked at the flowers, Gwen looked up at Virgil.
"Hey, cuz? Thanks for coming with me to look at the flowers." Gwen thanked.
"You are welcome cuz. Besides, I did not want you to come here alone with the Devil still after you and I swore to protect you." Virgil answered.
"I know and I appreciate it. I really do." Gwen assured her cousin.
Virgil smiled a little smile, then they look at flowers.
"I really love these beautiful white Jasmine flowers. What do you think?" Gwen asked.
"They are very beautiful. They also represent love, purity, beauty, innocence and new beginnings." Virgil explained.
"Really? New beginnings?" Gwen asked.
"Yes. For you and Clarence, your marriage will be a new beginning for both of you like it was when Cousin Rose married William and had their children." Virgil answered.
"Wow, you're right. It will be a new beginning for us. And we'll finally be free from the Devil after we complete the ritual. We just have to be on our guard till then." Gwen said.
"It will not be that easy Gwen. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants, no matter how long or what it takes." Virgil said.
Gwen sighed and sunk her head into Virgil's chest. Virgil hugged Gwen in sympathy.
"Do not worry Gwen. We will stop him. And I pray the heart and soul ritual will stop him for good" Virgil assured her.
"I'm so scared Virgil. My oracle friend Quadratus warned me something worse is coming in the future before our wedding." Gwen said, having a few tears.
"Do not be afraid Gwen. It will be okay." Virgil assured her.
Gwen wiped her tears.
"Now, let's pick the jasmine flowers for your bouquet, the ceremony and reception." Virgil said, to cheer Gwen up.
Gwen smiled and both continued looking at the white jasmine flower arrangements.
An hour later, Gwen and Virgil leave the floral shop and walk down the sidewalk.
"Oh, this is so exciting Virgil! We got the order in, and they'll be delivered in several months before the wedding!" Gwen said excitedly.
"Yes, with those shades of blue you wanted." Virgil added.
Just then, the cousins notice a familiar blonde woman a few blocks up the sidewalk.
"Oh no." Gwen said worryingly.
"What is wrong?" Virgil asked.
"That's my high school bully Judith Jackson of the Queens of Diamonds. She was so mean to me since high school." Gwen answered nervously.
"I promise I will protect you." Virgil said.
"Can we just go home? I don't wanna be anywhere near her." Gwen asked.
"Of course, Gwen." Virgil said.
Gwen used her ink pen to magically create a head scarf, took off her glasses and hid her face. Virgil held Gwen close as she hid her face in Virgil's chest.
Suddenly, Gwen felt a hand grab her shoulder and pulled her away from Virgil. Gwen was once again in the presence of Judith.
"Well, look who's shown her face in this town again." Judith insulted.
"Oh, that's funny… coming from you." Gwen insulted back.
Judith gave Gwen an angered look.
"Yeah, because of you!" Judith yelled.
"What do mean me?" Gwen asked, pretending to be confused.
"Well, I think it was you! You must've done something to scare me, Evelyn and Shirley that night!" Judith said, guessing Gwen was responsible.
"Oh, what makes you think I was responsible?" Gwen asked.
"Well, you were probably trying to get revenge on me for trying to steal your boyfriend!" Judith yelled.
"Fiancé." Gwen corrected.
"What?" Judith asked, shocked.
Gwen holds up her engagement ring to show her. Judith growled in envy.
"Yes, Judith. We're engaged now. So, you might as well forget it. Go crawl back to your big dumb dud boyfriend Anthony." Gwen scolded.
"I swear if you were the one responsible for ruining my life, I'm gonna…!" Judith was about to threaten until Virgil stepped in front of her.
"You will what?" Virgil asked sternly.
Judith stammered fearfully at Virgil's large muscular size.
"I will not tolerate anyone threatening and hurting my cousin. Now if you will excuse us, we have business to attend to. Come cousin."
Virgil quickly led Gwen past Judith and continued their way back home.
Judith growled in fury and stormed off.
They finally reach Gwen's old home and enter the house.
"Gwen? Virgil? Is that you?" Margarine called.
"Yes mama!" Gwen called.
"Yes, Aunt Margarine." Virgil said.
"Did you get the flowers ordered?" Margarine asked.
"Yes mama. We got it done." Gwen said.
"Wonderful!" Margarine said.
"Hey Virgil? Thanks for standing up to Judith for me. She bullied me since we were in high school." Gwen thanked her cousin.
"You are welcome. But please be careful Gwen. You must choose your battles wisely." Virgil advised.
"You sound like Rose and my oracle friend Quadratus." Gwen said.
"Well, they are right to caution you." Virgil added.
"Alright Virgil, I'm gonna go home. Thanks again for your help." Gwen thanked.
"Anytime Gwen. And don't forget to wear your invisible sweater. The Devil could appear anywhere at any time." Virgil reminded her.
"I won't forget!" Gwen called and stepped through the door portal.
Gwen arrived back home in the cottage and went upstairs to her room. She puts on her invisible sweater as Cuphead and Mugman enter her room.
"Hey Gwen!" Both cups exclaimed.
"Hey guys!" Gwen greeted back.
"We're gonna go to the mall! Wanna come?" Cuphead asked.
"Hmm. Sure guys. I do need to get my mind off the wedding… and Judith." Gwen said hesitantly.
"Judith? Oh, did that high school bully attack you again?" Mugman asked.
"Well, she's suspicious that I was responsible for ruining her life along with Evelyn and Shirly's lives." Gwen said.
"Technically, you are responsible. You hired those ghosts to scare them." Mugman corrected her.
"Well, she tried to steal Clarence from me, so I wanted some much-deserved payback." Gwen said defensive.
"You already got it Gweny. Don't be too worried about it. Now come on, let's head to the mall!" Cuphead said.
Gwen gets up from her bed as the cups took her hands and led her out of the cottage to the Inkwell Shopping Mall.
Later that evening, Gwen and the cups head back to the cottage carrying some shopping bags.
"Ugh. Judith threatened me until Cousin Virgil stood up to her for me." Gwen admitted.
"That's not nice! There's gotta be something we can do to get back at her!" Cuphead said.
"Cuphead, don't get involved. Gwen's already in hot water with her already." Mugman advised.
"Hmm… hey guys? I think I got an idea." Gwen said, getting an idea.
"Ooh! What is it? What is it?" Cuphead asked excitedly.
"Okay guys, huddle up." Gwen said as she knelt to them.
They huddle up as Gwen discussed the plan.
That night, Gwen and the cups appear in front of Judith's house. Gwen peeks in to make sure Judith was asleep. Afterwards, Gwen teleports herself and the cups into Judith's bedroom. Gwen raised her ink pen and magically dyed Judith's hair red and magically made glasses appear on her face. Gwen goes up to the cups and sits on the floor with them as she prepared to teleport them with her ink pen.
"So, what now?" Cuphead whispered quietly.
"Now we wait… for him." Gwen quietly revealed.
"Who?" Mugman asked.
Just then, a puff of smoke appreared in Judith's room as Gwen quickly tapped her ink pen and teleported themselves out of Judith's room and outside her bedroom window in the bushes.
The Devil appeared and approached Judith. He lightly taps her shoulder to make sure she wasn't wearing her invisible sweater, which he is not electrocuted. The Devil grinned evilly as he lifted Judith up in his arms (mistaking her for Gwen) and teleported back to Hell.
Gwen and Cuphead stifle their laughter in the bushes.
"That was your plan?! He's gonna realize he got the wrong girl!" Mugman scolded.
"I know that. I just wanna see her face when she wakes up and sees him." Gwen revealed.
Gwen tapped her ink pen and they teleported to their hiding spot in Hell to watch the Devil as he snickered.
"Forgot to wear your invisible sweater I see…" The Devil said evilly.
Just then, the Devil noticed something different about the girl he kidnapped. He noticed her hair was slightly longer than Gwen's and a different hair style. He took off the glasses and noticed her face was different than Gwen's face.
"Wait a minute!" The Devil said, realizing his mistake.
He snapped his fingers, restoring Judith's hair back to her blonde color.
"This isn't Gwen! This is someone else!" The Devil exclaimed.
Judith woke up at the sound of the Devil's voice and looked at him in horror. Judith screamed in a high ear-piercing voice, making the Devil cringe. Gwen and the cups stifle their laughter as the Devil quickly snapped his fingers and knocked Judith unconscious.
The Devil used his pitchfork to magically erase Judith's memories of himself and teleported her back to her bedroom in the human world. The Devil reappeared in his throne room and angrily roared at Gwen's trick. At that moment, Gwen teleported themselves back into her bedroom. They all laugh on her bed at Gwen's prank working.
"Oh man! Did you see the look on her face?" Gwen asked while laughing.
"Yeah! Priceless! Maybe the Devil should marry her!" Cuphead answered.
"Okay, I admit that was funny, but we need to quit while were ahead." Mugman said as he calmed down.
"Okay Mugsy. You're right. Well, I'm gonna turn in. Night buddies." Gwen said, feeling tired.
"Night Gwen!" Both cups answered as they left her room.
Gwen changed into her nightgown and slipped her invisible sweater back on and went to sleep. A while later, the Devil appeared in her bedroom and once again tried to kidnap her, only for him to be severely electrocuted again. Gwen snickered in her sleep.
"Ugh! I figured it was the real you! Did you think I'd fall for that stupid trick with that irritating human?!" The Devil angrily asked.
"You did… for a while." Gwen answered in her sleep.
Gwen stifled her laughter as she kept sleeping.
The Devil groaned and disappeared back to Hell. He angrily goes into his bedroom and crawls into bed. The Devil wondered about the human he kidnapped.
"Who was that annoying human? Why did Gwen use her to trick me?" The Devil asked himself.
Then, he trailed off to sleep.
The next morning, after having his morning coffee and donut, he decided to go to the human world to investigate Judith. He disguises himself as a human to blend in with the humans. He appeared in Boston outside a shopping mall where Judith met up with Evelyn and Shirley. He kept his distance and eavesdropped on their conversation.
"It felt so real! I dreamt I woke up in the Devil's arms and I was so scared I finally woke up!" Judith told her story fearfully.
"Judith, calm yourself. It was just a horrible nightmare. We've been through so much lately." Evelyn said.
"Heck, I'll bet it's very unsanitary down in Hell." Shirley said.
Judith took a deep breath, calming herself.
"Yeah, it was just a stupid nightmare." Judith said to herself.
The Devil snickered, knowing his trick of erasing her memory.
"Anyway, I saw Gwen with her big dumb cousin yesterday! I think she may be responsible for that night and ruined our lives!" Judith said.
The Devil's eyes popped, realizing they are Gwen's enemies.
"But Judith, we don't know that. How did those ghosts look so real and convincing?" Evelyn asked.
"And how did those things happen out of the ordinary?" Shirley asked.
The Devil's eyes popped, realizing Gwen used the magic inkwell to prank her enemies and ruining their lives.
"Well, I don't know. But I still think she did it! Come on! Let's go!" Judith said frustratingly and all three girls walked off.
The Devil thought for a moment and suddenly got an idea.
The Queens of Diamonds walked down the sidewalk until they heard a man clear his throat. All three girls turn and look in an alleyway and saw the Devil in his human disguise flipping a coin with his thumb, leaning against a wall.
"I suppose you fine ladies want answers and possibly your lives back to the way they were before?" The Devil asked.
"Ugh. Whatever. That's none of your beeswax. Now go away you filthy tramp!" Judith said rudely.
"Ooh, such strong words for a washed-up model." The Devil taunted.
Judith stopped and turned around.
"How did you know that?" Judith asked.
"I have my ways my dear." The Devil said.
"Who are you? You're freaking us out." Evelyn asked.
"I'm just a stranger my dear. It's amazing you finally showed your face in public again after secrets were blurted out." The Devil taunted Evelyn.
Evelyn gasped and hid her head in her hands.
"And you still haven't overcome your fear of germs I see. Really cowardly if you ask me." The Devil taunted as he flicked a piece of garbage at Shirley.
Shirley yelped and quickly dodged the garbage piece.
"Look loser, we don't have time for your stupid teasing. We have better things to do! Come on girls." Judith insulted and turned away to leave.
"Then I suppose you want to know if a certain… art-loving girl was responsible for ruining your lives?" The Devil asked.
All three girls stopped again and faced the Devil.
"What do you mean? Gwen? Do you know if she is? Do you have proof?" Judith asked, now interested.
"Well, let me take a look in this file and find out." The Devil said as he pulled up Gwen's file and opened it.
He reads through her file until something caught his eye.
"Ooh! What's this? Hiring three ghosts to scare you girls in that old house and set everything up and ruining your lives in retaliation for bullying her and trying to steal her boyfriend." The Devil revealed.
"So… it was her!" Judith exclaimed angrily.
"Judith, don't overreact, she's left us alone since." Evelyn tried to assure her.
"Yeah, we should just let it go." Shirley added.
"No! I won't let it go! Gwen is dead! I'm gonna get even with her if it's the last thing I ever do!" Judith yelled angrily, making Evelyn and Shirley gasp in horror.
"Ooh, someone's got a grudge on her. Perhaps, I could be of some assistance?" The Devil said.
"You? How?" Judith asked, confused.
"Perhaps you would like to make… a deal? I could offer you the opportunity to get revenge on her." The Devil offered.
"What do you mean?" Judith asked.
"Do you know where she is?" The Devil asked.
"Doesn't she still live with her parents?" Evelyn asked.
"No, she doesn't anymore." Shirley said, remembering.
"Correct my dear. I could take you to where she is now, and you can have your revenge on her in however way you choose." The Devil said, tempting Judith.
"Really? Okay!" Judith agreed.
"There is… one catch. If you succeed in getting your revenge before sunset today, I'll restore your lives back to the way they were before Gwen ruined them. But if you fail after sunset, I'll have… your souls!" The Devil revealed his deal.
All three girls looked confused.
"O-o-o-our souls?" Evelyn asked.
"You're not… Satan, are you?" Shirley asked.
"Don't be stupid girls! There is no such thing as the Devil! He's just saying that to scare us!" Judith yelled rudely.
"Believe what you want, but that is my final offer. Deal?" The Devil asked as he reached his hand to Judith.
Judith hesitated until the Devil loses patience.
"Look, I don't have time for second guessing! I'm kinda on a tight schedule so I need an answer now! Going once! Going twice!" The Devil warned.
"No!" Evelyn yelled.
"Don't do it!" Shirley agreed.
"DEAL!" Judith yelled and shook his hand.
Just then, the Devil burns Judith's hand, sealing the deal.
"OW!" Judith yelled and blew on her hand.
"Judith! What have you done?!" Evelyn asked fearfully.
"You are Satan! The Devil!" Shirley exclaimed, now convinced he was the Devil.
"Clever… for a dirt-fearing mortal." The Devil taunted and snickered evilly.
"Okay, where is she? I want my revenge!" Judith asked impatiently.
"My, are we impatient." The Devil said sternly.
"Remember, if you fail, your souls are mine!" The Devil reminded them.
Then, the Devil snapped his fingers and made the Queens of Diamonds disappear. They appear at an Autumn Festival just outside of Boston.
"What the? The Autumn Festival? Why would she be here?" Judith asked.
Gwen wearing a new Autumn-themed dress takes her best friends Cuphead and Mugman to the Autumn Festival.
"Welcome to the yearly Autumn Festival guys! With the petting zoo, arts and crafts lessons, tractor rides, the corn maze, the pumpkin patch and the best pumpkin pie around!" Gwen announced.
"WHOO! YAY! WHOO!" Both cups cheered and took Gwen's hands and entered the festival.
"There she is with two kids in costumes!" Shirley said, pointing at Gwen with Cuphead and Mugman.
"Those are the ugliest costumes I've ever seen." Evelyn rudely insulted.
"I agree, now let's go after her!" Judith ordered.
The Queens of Diamonds go after Gwen and the cups.
Meanwhile, Gwen was taking the cups around the farm to look at the farm animals.
"Wow, so this is what the animals in this world look like?" Mugman asked.
"Yep. See those pigs? Remind you of someone?" Gwen asked as she pointed at the pig pen.
"Oh yeah! Porkrind. Maybe he belongs in there." Cuphead insulted.
The trio snicker and prepare to look at more farm animals. Just then, Shirley standing on a stool prepared to pour a pail of pig slop on Gwen until she suddenly lost balance and fell into the pig pen and getting dirty herself. Shirley screamed in agony of her mess.
"Did you hear something?" Cuphead asked.
"Hmm, must've been one of those pigs." Mugman guessed.
"Come on guys, there's the petting zoo with the chickens, goats, sheep and bunnies!" Gwen exclaimed.
"AWW!" Both cups exclaimed.
Both cups along with Gwen went over to the petting zoo while Shirley was taken by the farmers to get cleaned up.
Later, Gwen and the cups join other kids and learn how to dip candles.
"Neat! We made our own candles!" Cuphead said.
"Yeah, Elder Kettle's gonna love these!" Mugman added.
"Yeah. Clarence will love these too." Gwen said.
Gwen stuffed all their candles into her satchel, and they moved on to the next activity. Evelyn was about to pour paint on Gwen, but she missed her chance because something else caught her eye. She notices knitting lessons were taking place, so she decided to join the kids and grabbed a pair of knitting needles and started knitting. Judith is infuriated and decided to get Gwen herself.
Gwen and the cups join other kids on a large tractor for the tractor rides. They look around the fields and are amazed. Unknown to the group, Judith was hiding in the wheat fields, holding a bag of manure and standing on a step ladder. But just as the tractor was passing through, a scarecrow with a scary pumpkin head was suddenly raised up, thus startling Judith, making her fall backwards with the bag of manure spilled all over her. Judith screamed in agony as her attempt also failed.
"Did you hear something guys? Hmm, must've been a crow. They really hate scarecrows." Gwen guessed.
Later, the Queens of Diamonds met up at the barn. Shirley and Judith were dirty from their failed attempts except Evelyn who was holding a new knitted scarf.
"Woah. What happened to you two?" Evelyn asked.
"GRRR! You stupid idiots failed too?!" Judith scowled.
"I think we shouldn't do this. I mean, we were pretty mean to Gwen for years." Shirly said, throwing in the towel.
"No Shirley! We made a deal with that man and we're gonna get what we want when we succeed! We're doing this!" Judith angrily reminded them.
Evelyn sighed out of disapproval.
"Now come on! We got one more shot at this! I saw them head to the corn maze!" Judith said and led the other two to the corn maze.
Meanwhile, Gwen and the cups were walking through the corn maze. Gwen decided to have a little fun and runs off to hide.
"Gwen? Where are you?" Cuphead called.
"She's playing hide and seek with us. She was bragging earlier on how she was the best hider without the inkwell." Mugman said.
"Okay, if she wants to play, let's find her!" Cuphead said excitedly.
Both cups look around for Gwen.
"Come out, come out wherever you are!" Both cups called.
Meanwhile, Gwen was hiding in a crowded area of corn stalks, trying to keep in her laughter. Suddenly, she noticed her high school bullies were in the corn maze looking for her.
"Where did Gwen and those two ugly kids go?" Judith asked.
"I don't know this place is huge!" Evelyn argued.
"Yeah! She could be anywhere in this filthy corn maze!" Shirley argued.
"I don't care! She's the one who ruined our lives with those ghosts and that loser's gonna pay!" Judith yelled.
Gwen's eyes widened, knowing they somehow found out she hired the ghosts to scare them. She thinks for a moment and gets an idea. She raised her ink pen and magically created an illusion of herself and makes noise.
"Hey, did you hear that?" Evelyn asked.
"Shh!" Judith shushed.
Gwen makes her illusion of herself run a direction.
"There she is!" Shirley pointed.
"Quick! After her!" Judith yelled.
All three girls run after Gwen's illusion, falling into her trap. Then she makes two more copies of herself and lured the girls in three different directions.
"Split up and surround her! She's not getting out of here unharmed!" Judith yelled.
Each girl split up in three different directions. Gwen tries stifling her laughter until suddenly she felt two pairs of hands pull her out of her hiding spot.
"FOUND YOU!" Both cups called.
Gwen quickly covered their mouths and shushed them.
"Guys! My high school bullies are here! They're after me and they're angry at me!" Gwen whispered.
Both cups gasped.
"Gwen, I told you this would happen!" Mugman whispered.
"Relax Mugsy, I've already taken care of them. I sent them on a wild goose chase after me." Gwen revealed her trick.
"Neat Gweny! You sure showed them!" Cuphead complimented.
"Thanks, Cuphead. Now let's head to the exit, shall we? It's almost sunset." Gwen asked.
"Okay!" Both cups agreed.
The trio walk through the corn maze until they finally reach the exit. Just then, they heard the Queens of Diamonds yell for help. Gwen realizes they got lost in the corn maze chasing after her illusions.
"Eh, let them find their own way out. It serves them right." Gwen said as she prepared to leave.
Mugman stops her and gave her a stern look.
"Gwen, I know you hate them. But don't stoop down to their level. You are better than them. We should help them." Mugman said.
Gwen looked over in the distance, hearing all three girls panicking. She groaned in frustration, realizing Mugman has a point. She and the cups go back for the Queens of Diamonds and managed to locate them in a clearing.
"Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in." Gwen taunted.
"You! There you are! You're dead Emmons!" Judith yelled and charged at Gwen.
Gwen is unfazed until Cuphead and Mugman step in front of her.
"I wouldn't do that if we were you crazy lady." Cuphead warned.
"Yeah, you need to take a chill pill." Mugman added.
"Get out of my way you ugly cup-headed freaks! And take off those stupid masks!" Judith yelled.
Judith grabs both cups' heads and they popped off. To her horror, she finds no heads on their shoulders and looked at the cups.
"BOO!" Cuphead exclaimed.
"Was that necessary?" Mugman asked.
Judith screamed and dropped both cups and they land back on their bodies. Evelyn and Shirley also screamed as Gwen watched them smugly and snickered.
"What tricky is this, Gwen?! Who are they?!" Judith demanded to know.
"I'm so glad you asked Judith. I'd like you to meet my two best friends in the whole world: Cuphead and Mugman." Gwen introduced and wrapped her arms around them.
Cuphead smugly folded his arms while Mugman waved at the girls.
"They're not humans, are they?" Evelyn asked in shock, staring at the cups.
"Nope." Cuphead answered.
"How does this work?" Shirley asked as she poked her finger in Mugman's milk in his head.
"Uh, ma'am could you not do that?" Mugman asked.
"Oh, sorry." Shirley apologized.
"Looks like you three are a little lost. I suppose you want me to lead you out of here?" Gwen asked.
"Yes! Please Gwen!" Evelyn begged.
"We'll do anything!" Shirley added.
"I don't know. You three looked like you were gonna attack me. Especially you Judith." Gwen said.
"Fine! Will you get us outta here please?!" Judith groaned.
"Hmm. Fine, but on one condition: no attacking or bullying me!" Gwen stated her condition.
"I promise!" Shirley promised.
"Me too!" Evelyn added.
Judith gritted her teeth until she finally yelled,
"FINE! ME TOO!"
Gwen smiled smugly.
"Alright, follow us." Gwen said.
Gwen and the cups lead the Queens of Diamonds out of the corn maze and lets them rest at the barn.
"If you three wanna thank us for getting you out of there, I'd like to know what you're doing here. I thought you don't like the Autumn Festival." Gwen said.
"We know it was you who hired those three ghosts to scare us and ruined our lives, and Judith wanted payback!" Evelyn confessed.
"EVELYN!" Judith yelled.
"What? She was gonna find out sooner or later." Shirley said.
Gwen clapped slowly at them.
"Well done. I don't know how you found out but you're making a big mistake." Gwen said, unfazed.
"You ruined our lives! So, now we're gonna ruin yours!" Judith yelled.
"Like how you three ruined my life when we were in high school? How you tried to break me and Clarence up at that get-together?" Gwen sternly reminded Judith.
"She's got a point Judith." Evelyn said.
"I don't care! You're dead Gwen!" Judith yelled angrily.
"Judith no!" Shirley protested.
"SHUT UP YOU LOSERS!" Judith yelled.
Evelyn and Shirley were both insulted as Judith charged at Gwen, preparing to beat her up. Gwen sighed, then got out her ink pen and used telekinesis on Judith, stopping Judith from attacking her by lifting her up in the air. Judith gasped in horror at Gwen's powers and magic.
"Surprise!" Gwen taunted.
"You… FREAK!" Judith yelled.
Gwen then tosses Judith down to a pile of pumpkins. Gwen looked at Evelyn and Shirley as they looked at her in horror.
"Anyone else wanna try to attack me?" Gwen asked.
"No! Please don't hurt us!" Shirley begged.
"Then, why would you go to so much trouble to get even with me?" Gwen asked, demanding to know.
"Well… um… we kinda… met someone who said he could help us." Evelyn hesitantly revealed.
Just then, Cuphead notices the burn scar on Judith's hand as she rejoined the group.
"Gwen! Look! I think she made a deal with… a certain someone!" Cuphead exclaimed.
Gwen looked at Judith's hand and saw the burn scar just like her FBI agent friend Kai-Ming's scar.
"Oh no. You didn't."
Gwen said, now realizing the Queens of Diamonds are now in debt with the Devil.
"He promised he'd help us if we got our revenge on you by sunset!" Evelyn revealed.
"EVELYN!" Judith scolded.
Gwen laughed at the Queens of Diamonds.
"What's so funny?" Judith asked angrily.
"You little fool! Whatever he promised, he won't give you!" Gwen taunted and continued laughing.
Just then, Shirley realizes the sun has set over the horizon.
"Oh no! The sun has set!" Shirley exclaimed.
"Shut up you idiot! I told you there's no such thing as the Devil!" Judith yelled.
Just then, a puff of smoke appeared, and the Devil stood before the Queens of Diamonds revealing his true form along with Henchman.
"AH! THE DEVIL!" Both cups exclaimed.
"Duh, boss? I'm gonna get some of their delicious pumpkin pie, I'll be right back!" Henchman said.
"Uh, fine. But don't be long!" The Devil ordered.
Henchman squealed and ran off to get some pumpkin pie.
"Well, well, well. Looks like you three failed." The Devil said.
Evelyn and Shirley hold each other fearfully as Judith stood in disbelief.
"Whatever trickery this is, it's not working! Now, go away ugly hairy animal!" Judith yelled.
The Devil looked at her unamused and tsked.
"I see why you don't like her my beautiful flower." The Devil said to Gwen.
"Yep. Welcome to my life." Gwen answered back.
"Well, regardless of what you call me, I've come for my due. You broke the deal; you know what that means…" The Devil warned.
Judith scoffed at the Devil's threat.
"Ooh, I'm so scared. Go ahead, take my soul! Take my soul you faker!" Judith taunted and yelled mockingly.
"As you wish my dear." The Devil said calmly.
The Devil reached his hand at Judith's chest and started to rip her soul out of her body slowly, making her groan in pain.
"What… is this… trickery?" Judith weakly asked.
"You still don't believe this is real?" The Devil asked tauntingly.
The Devil completes ripping Judith's soul out of her body, and it collapsed to the ground. Evelyn and Shirley screamed in terror that Judith's soul was taken, and they were next.
"Now, do you believe me?" The Devil asked mockingly, holding their friend's soul in his hand.
"Yes! Yes! Please spare us!" Evelyn yelled fearfully.
"Hmm… nope. She agreed it would be all your souls. Really bad choice of friends if you ask me. Sorry ladies, but I must collect my due." The Devil said mockingly.
He prepares to take Evelyn's soul next as Gwen was unsure if she should let the Devil take their souls.
Shirley runs up to Gwen.
"Gwen! Help us!" Shirley begged and started crying.
"Why? After all you've done to me? All those years of tormenting me?" Gwen asked, not convinced.
"We're so sorry Gwen! We'll do anything! Please give us another chance! We'll never bully you ever again!" Shirley begged.
"Yes Gwen! Please! We promise!" Evelyn called out as the Devil started ripping her soul out.
Gwen groaned in frustration until she felt both cups' hands on her hands. She looked at them, giving her pleading look to help them.
"I must be out of my mind." Gwen said.
Gwen runs up to the Devil and stopped him from ripping Evelyn's soul out.
"STOP!" Gwen yelled.
Evelyn caught her breath, being restored as she and Shirley hid behind Gwen.
"My beautiful flower! What are you doing?!" The Devil scolded.
"I have a proposition for you!" Gwen bravely said.
"What?" The Devil asked impatiently.
"I challenge you to a game. If I win, their debt is cleared. If you win, you can have their souls…" Gwen offered until the Devil interrupted.
"Not convinced my dear."
"And…" Gwen continued as she took a deep breath.
"… you can have my hand in marriage." Gwen reluctantly finished her offer.
"What?!" Evelyn asked.
"That monster wants to marry you?! EW!" Shirley asked and exclaimed in disgust.
"I know. It's what I've been dealing with since the night he kidnapped me." Gwen revealed.
"Wait, he kidnapped you?! And I thought you just ran away!" Evelyn fearfully exclaimed.
"Surprise!" Gwen blankly said.
"Hmm. Collect the three girl's souls and marry Gwen? You have a deal my dear!" The Devil said, reaching his hand to Gwen.
"Gwen! No!" Shirley protested.
But Gwen ignored Shirley and shook hands with the Devil.
"Alright, what's your game my dear? Cards? An art contest? Tennis?" The Devil asked.
Gwen took a deep breath and answered,
"Hide…and…Seek."
The Devil is shocked.
"What? That's a child's game!" The Devil protested.
"Hey girls! You hear that? He's chicken!" Cuphead taunted and started clucking like a chicken.
Shirley and Evelyn both laugh.
"I AM NOT CHICKEN!" The Devil yelled, making them stop laughing.
"Fine! Hide and Seek it is!" The Devil angrily agreed.
"Gwen! You sure you know what you're doing?" Mugman whispered.
"Trust me Mugsy! I'm the best hider, remember?" Gwen whispered back.
"Alright, where are we playing your little game?" The Devil asked.
"This very farm we're at. Lots of potential hiding places." Gwen answered.
"Hmm, good point. Let's begin!" The Devil said.
"Uh, uh, uh! There are rules in this game!" Gwen reminded him.
The Devil groaned in frustration.
"What are they?!" The Devil asked impatiently.
"Rule one: You turn around, close your eyes and count to twenty. Rule two: I will hide, and you will seek me. Rule three: If you can find me within five minutes around this farm, you win and you can have me and their souls. Rule four: If you don't find me within five minutes, you release them from their debt and let me go. Which includes putting Judith's soul back in her body." Gwen finished explaining.
"Ugh, fine! Now, can we get started?" The Devil asked impatiently.
"First though, I need my buddies to monitor the timer." Gwen said as she magically created a stopwatch.
She gives the stopwatch to Mugman.
"Mugsy, start the five-minute timer after the Devil finishes counting to twenty. Got it?" Gwen instructed.
"Got it." Mugman agreed as he gulped in fear.
"Henchman!" The Devil yelled.
Henchman comes running up to his boss holding a pumpkin pie.
"Duh, yes boss?" Henchman asked.
"Hold this." The Devil ordered as he handed Judith's soul to Henchman.
Gwen goes up to the Devil.
"I'm ready." Gwen said bravely.
The Devil smiled evilly at her.
"This is gonna be so much fun. Let the game begin!" The Devil said tauntingly.
He turns around, closes his eyes and started the countdown.
"One, two, three, four…"
Gwen quickly runs off toward the corn maze and ran back to her hiding spot. Gwen gets another idea and magically shrinks herself to the size of a bug and hid under a corn stalk.
"Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty! Ready or not, here I come!" The Devil called.
Mugman started the timer, and the Devil began his search for Gwen. He started searching for her at the barn, but she was not there. Next, he tried searching for her in the animal pens including the chickens, pigs, horses, cows, sheep and goats; but she wasn't there either.
Then, he realized she was somewhere in the corn maze. He floats above the corn maze and starts looking for her.
"Come out, come out wherever you are." The Devil creepily called to her.
Gwen had to think fast and decided to use her trick she used to trick the Queens of Diamonds. She magically flies up on a cornstalk and lands on a leaf. Then, she makes the corn stalks make noise, thus getting the Devil's attention.
He flies down and searches the area through the cornstalks. Gwen realizes he was nearing her location and cowered in fear. He searches her hiding spot, but to his disappointment, he couldn't find her there either.
He angrily moves the cornstalk Gwen was on top of, unaware of her shrunken size. Gwen accidentally falls off the corn stalk and lands on top of the Devil's head. The Devil stopped for a second, but he assumed he had a bad itch and started scratching his head. Gwen quickly avoids his fingers by taking cover by one of his enormous horns.
The Devil continued his search for Gwen, but he realizes he was almost out of time. The Devil growled frustratingly and flew back up in the air and looks everywhere for her.
Henchman watched as he snuck a few bites of his pumpkin pie.
Suddenly, the Devil heard the stopwatch timer beeping, realizing the five minutes were up.
"NOO! You cheater! Where are you?!" The Devil yelled angrily.
Gwen magically made the Devil's head itch again, making the Devil realize something.
"Wait a minute!" The Devil said angrily.
He reached on his head, snatched Gwen in his fist. He opened his hand, revealing Gwen in her shrunken size as she smiled smugly and folded her arms.
"You cheater!" The Devil yelled.
He snapped his fingers, restoring Gwen back to her normal size and carries her in his arms.
"Oh, am I? Did I ever say anything about me using my powers? Did I?" Gwen asked, revealing her loophole around the deal.
The Devil growled furiously as Gwen let herself down and walked up to Henchman.
"I'll take that soul now." Gwen said.
Henchman hands Gwen Judith's soul and Gwen took it and walked up to Judith's unconscious body. Gwen puts Judith's soul back into her body. Judith wakes up and gasped for air.
"Henchman! We're leaving! And give me a piece of that pie!" The Devil said angrily as he grabbed Henchman.
"Aww…" Henchman groaned.
After eating a piece of pumpkin pie, the Devil tapped his pitchfork and both demons disappeared back to Inkwell Hell.
"Judith!" Both girls exclaimed happily.
Evelyn and Shirley both hugged Judith. But Judith shoved them away as she stood up.
"Ugh! Finally! I'm alive again and I will find another way to get even with you Gwen!" Judith angrily yelled.
Gwen sighed out of disapproval, knowing Judith will never change.
"That's it? No gratitude for saving your life and clearing your debt?" Gwen asked.
"No way you freak! You think this will make us even?!" Judith angrily asked.
"Will ruining my life or hurting me make us even?" Gwen asked.
"YES! Girls, get her! Finish her off!" Judith angrily yelled.
Having enough of Judith's mistreatment of them and finally opening their eyes on Gwen; Evelyn and Shirley walk up to Gwen. But to Gwen's shock, both girls take Gwen's side and glared at Judith.
"What are you two doing?!" Judith asked shockingly.
"What does it look like loser? We owe her our lives." Evelyn asked angrily.
"We're breaking up with you Judith! From now on, we're friends with Gwen!" Shirley angrily added.
They both wrap their arms around Gwen.
"I'm so proud of you girls." Gwen said, feeling proud.
"Thanks Gwen." Evelyn thanked.
"UGH! FINE! I'll get rid of you three then!" Judith angrily yelled and grabbed a shovel.
Judith attempted to charge at them when suddenly, Judith fell unconscious. The group looked and saw Agent Kai-Ming approach the group with her dart gun.
"Hey Gwen." Kai-Ming greeted.
"Hey Kai-Ming." Gwen greeted.
Kai-Ming had some FBI agents carry Judith and taken away.
"That was quite a show you put on Gwen." Kai-Ming complimented.
"Thanks. I had tricks up my sleeve." Gwen bragged.
"And I'm glad you learned your lesson." Kai-Ming added.
"I sure did Kai-Ming." Gwen admitted.
"Uh, officer? What's gonna happen to Judith?" Shirley asked.
"We'll take her downtown for questioning as she will be charged with attempted murder on Gwen as well as you two." Kai-Ming answered.
"Serves her right!" Cuphead said.
"Good riddance I say!" Mugman agreed.
"Amen!" Evelyn said as she wrapped her arms around Gwen and the cups.
Shirley joined Evelyn and hugged the group.
"Well, I see you earned two new friends." Kai-Ming said to Gwen.
"Yep, we sure did." Cuphead said.
"I love making new friends, but can we go home now? It's late." Mugman asked.
"Gwen, will you take us home?" Evelyn asked.
"Please?" Shirley added.
Gwen looked at Kai-Ming and gave her a nod of approval.
"Okay, gather next to me." Gwen instructed.
Shirley and Evelyn gather next to Gwen. She tapped her ink pen and the group disappeared. Kai-Ming gets in her car and drives off with Judith in custody.
The group reappear at her parent's house in their back yard. Gwen magically pulls up one of the pumpkin pies she bought earlier.
"Pumpkin pie anyone?" Gwen asked excitedly.
"YES!" Both cups exclaimed.
Evelyn and Shirley smile and join Gwen and the cups at the table and feast on the pie together to celebrate.
Afterwards, Gwen dropped off Evelyn and Judith at their houses and then took herself and the cups back to the cottage in the Inkwell Isles and went to bed.
The next day, Judith wakes up in an interrogation room. Kai-Ming questioned her on all the events leading up to the Autumn Fall Festival incident. But Judith refuses to cooperate and threatens that her parents will bail her out of jail, then she'll tell everyone about the magic inkwell and the Devil.
Kai-Ming sighed in disapproval and gives a gesture. From the shadows, Gwen magically erased Judith's memories of the Devil and the magic inkwell. Kai-Ming orders the guards to take Judith back to her cell.
"I'm sorry Kai-Ming." Gwen apologized.
"No, Gwen. You did very well. Since she doesn't want to cooperate, I'm afraid she's needs help." Kai-Ming said.
"I hope she gets all the help she needs." Gwen said, feeling sympathetic.
"I'll make sure of it. And I'll make sure she never comes near you or your friends again." Kai-Ming said.
"Thanks." Gwen thanked.
"Alright we're done here. You may go now." Kai-Ming said.
Gwen nodded, then she disappeared back to the Inkwell Isles to rejoin her assistant Akilah in the art studio for work.
From then on, Gwen became friends with Evelyn and Judith, therefore breaking up the Queens of Diamonds for good. Gwen helps them turn their lives around such as Evelyn getting a job at the local fabric shop. Shirley finally overcomes her fear of germs and takes a job in her father's oil business. Judith was found guilty of her charge and was sentenced to a mental institution to get her help.
