Ricky POV
Stan, Soos , and Wendy are setting up for a party at the Mystery Shack. Stan says it's just to "make money" ; but, I like to think he wants the kids to have fun. Dipper and Mabel pretend to barf on each other using silly string with Wendy . It's nice seeing them having a good time. I mostly ignoring them as I , once again, am fixing the speakers.
I have to set up the bands stuff while I'm at it. We got a small gig for the party, which was really nice of Stan. I just finished the song the other day and I just hope Wendy really likes it...
Stan yells at them to stop wasting the party supplies and takes the silly string away,
"Hey, hey! How's about you make yourself useful and copy these flyers?" He shows Dipper and Mabel the flyer I made.
Mabel gets excited, "Oh boy, a trip to the copier store!"
Soos starts singing a homemade slogan, "Calendars, mugs, t-shirts and more! They got it all at the copier store! That's not their slogan, I just really feel that way about the copier store."
Stan denies the idea, "Save the trouble. You know the old copier in my office? I finally fixed the old girl up! Good as new!"
Probably 'cause he wouldn't have to pay.
I laugh to myself and continue working. I just hope tonight goes well.
Time Skip to Party (3rd POV)
Soos is at the DJ booth, almost shaking with excitement and nervousness, "The energy, it's electric! Uhh, lightning," He struggles to find the right button on his keyboard, "lightning, lightning, lightning..."
Stan can be heard in the corner with the pines twins, "-if anyone wants to leave, I'm charging an exit fee of 15 bucks!" This puts a few party goers in a panic.
Nate starts counting money with Lee, "We've only got 13!"
"We're trapped!"
Lee and Nate start pounding on window, screaming for help. And a dance party ensues.
Wendy 3rd POV
Wendy can be seen looking at party through window, "Whoa! Sounds like the party's getting nuts." She can faintly hears Soos through the wall.
"Let the battle for the party crown begin! Mabel comes out strong! Watch out, Pacifica!"
"I've gotta get in there! Cover for me?" She turns and looks at Dipper hopefully.
Dipper, looking a bit dejected, "Umm... well I, um–"
Wendy jumps up and runs off inside, "Thanks, man!"
As she runs, throwing the door open to almost hitting Ricky's band tuning for the show.
"OH, sorry didn't see you guys there!" Wendy closes the door behind her to see some random guy with drumsticks holding Ricky up. Though she has never met him (or knows of their relationship) a pang of jealousy at the bottom of her stomach as she stares. Her gaze lowers to his hand on Ricky's waist while he helps straightens her. Wendy huffs out her nose while his hand lingers, feeling an unknown anger swell in her chest.
Ricky's POV
I thank Nick and ask him to start a last round of checks at the stage. Turning fully to Wendy, I see her still and staring down into nothing. I put a hand on her cheek in worry and freeze myself at the thought of what I had done. Now her staring in my eyes, I hold my breath. Neither of us move and the music fades. I have no idea how long we stood with people dancing around us in competition till I feel someone practically rip me away from my spot.
"Hey! Watch it, dude."
With full realization of my surroundings once more, I notice it was Robbie.
"Uh, no. Yo, Wendy, check out my new guitar" He leaned on he nearest counter and start tuing it to nothing. Honestly, this pisses me off considering i took hours prepping the equipment while he messed around. I cut off whatever pickup line he was trying,
"Yeah sooooo cool Robbie. Now can you stop messing up my hard work and get back to the stage? We start after the singing round Soos is doing."
He waves me off as Wendy looks past him and smiles at me. She mouths 'sorry' as he keeps going. Giving a soft smile back, I mouth 'it's fine' and wave as I turn and go to the stage. While moving past the contest celebration, I sigh,
Mabel lost to Pacifica...bummer.
I hear Soos announce Robbie's Bike being stolen and he runs out. Now I'm down a guitarist... Great. He's done nothing but mess around all night while I work and now he runs off. When I catch him...
Feeling like I've sighed for the hundredth time today, I grab my bass and plug it in while Soos calls us on to start.
I look to Nick (second guitarist) and Liam (Drummer) and they nod to show they're ready. Our keyboard man quit but he didn't really match the sound so its okay. I breath in and look into the crowd. I calm as I catch eyes with Wendy. She gleams in anticipation and it makes my non existent physical heart flutter. I gather myself and lean into the speaker,
"How's everyone night!" The crowd cheers, "Alright. Now, were the Valentino Tombstones. You better like the song and party hard to end the night. Can't have an unhappy crowd now can I?" I smirk as they cheer again. Looking back again I start counting in to Liam. Lets do this.
(song start)
I hold on so nervously to me and my drink
I wish it was coolin' me
But so far has not been good
It's been shitty, and I feel awkward as I should
This club has got to be the most pretentious thing
Since I thought you and me
Well, I am imagining a dark lit place
Or your place or my place
Well, I'm not paralyzed, but I seem to be struck by you
I wanna make you move because you're standin' still
If your body matches what your eyes can do
You'll probably move right through me on my way to you
I feel myself getting into the music. I try and focus from floating while I play. She just had to look at me like that. Right in the eyes like I'm the only one in the room. The song feels like nothing more the a description of what she does to me.
I hold out for one more drink, before I think
I'm lookin' too desperately
But so far has not been fun, I should just stay home
If one thing really means one
This club will hopefully be closed in three weeks
That would be cool with me
Well, I'm still imagining a dark lit place
Or your place or my place
Winking at her, I finally break contact and focus on crowd work. Leaning in and adding more feel into playing. As focused as I am, I can still feel her coffee eyes burn into me.
Well, I'm not paralyzed, but I seem to be struck by you
I wanna make you move because you're standin' still
If your body matches what your eyes can do
You'll probably move right through me on my way to you
Well, I'm not paralyzed, but I seem to be struck by you
I wanna make you move because you're standin' still
If your body matches what your eyes can do
You'll probably move right through me on my way to you
Not paralyzed, but I seem to be struck by you
I wanna make you move because you're standin' still
If your body matches what your eyes can do
You'll probably move right through me on my way to you
You'll probably move right through me on my way to you
You'll probably move right through me on my way to you
I take a deep breath as the crowd goes crazy. I smile and hug Nick and high-five Liam. I look out to find Wendy chatting and laughing with Dipper. Smiling and turning before she can see, I finally spot Robbie. I glare as he had missed the whole show even if its one song. A gig is a gig and he almost blew it if we didn't have Nick. All to chase Wendy.
I know we had an agreement to not interfere with out relations with her, but come one, to not help all day AND miss a performance. He's lucky he's a founding member and I wouldn't mess that up.
Sighing...again. I turn to the band and tell them to go, I'll clean up tomorrow since I work here. I wave and walk to Stan for payment,
"How was it?" I ask nervously as I pocket the money and ring my hands.
He slaps my back and ruffle my hair, "That was great kid! I even made people pay extra to stay for it!" He laughs, throwing his head back. "But seriously, that was great. get the dope of a brother in line and you'll get more shows from me for sure." He smiles and I couldn't be happier.
"Thanks Stan...that means a lot."
Hitting my back AGAIN, he shoves me a away, "Alright don't get sappy. Everyone's leaving. Don't worry about cleaning. You're the only one who actually did their job today so just come in like normal." He walk away as I feel myself still smiling.
Sitting into he moment, I jump as I feel someone jump on my back,
"Ricky! That was great man. Didn't know you could get into it like that!"
I feel them et of my back, already knowing it Wendy by her smell. I turn and smile, like I could even stop tonight.
"Thanks, I'm glad you stayed to watch. Means a lot." I feel my canines poking out but I don't even care.
"Of course. Buy hey, I'm throwing a after partly party for the teens in town to keep it going, " She put those adorable puppy eyes out, " Come with me?"
Id blush if I could but I soon realize I don't feel any blood in me. Well, not none, but I never notices how low I was. I want to go...I really do. I can see her waiting for an answer and my health can wait. I laugh nervously,
"Yeah...sure." Her smile drops. It's all my fault. She can see the anxiousness,
"You don't have to you know. You're probably tired after working all day. Sorry about that. I know I was supposed to help and didn't," she rubs her neck. Her neck looks so good right now. I can feel myself staring, only snapping out of it when an arm wraps around my shoulder.
"Hell yeah she's coming. We just have to grab some stuff and head over. Right, Ricky?"
Thank god, It's just Robbie. I don't know how long he's been there but I have a feeling he knows what going on.
"Oh, okay! Well see you guys there. Don't take to long and bring some clothes Ricky. You're staying over, no arguing." She finger guns and backs away before leaving. I can finally feel like I can breath...the theoretical kind. I feel Robbie take me somewhere hidden. Finally focusing, I notice is inner elbow is in front of my face. One of the few spots people wouldn't notice.
"Are you sure? You'll be tired and then the party won't be fun and I don't want to ruin-" He cuts me off.
You won't ruin anything Rick. It's been awhile. Think of it as a way to make up for leaving the show. I'm sorry. I shouldn't of let everything distract me with you working so hard tonight." There it is. That sincerity no one gets to see. I give him a soft smile before taking his arm. Looking into his eyes one more time and he nods. Taking a deep breath...I bite.
I feel him try and hold still, jerking away just slightly. I never like doing this. To bring him pain. I drink and drink and drink. Almost losing myself, I finally let go. His arm is still bleeding and I focus to heal it. I can only do so much on others. I grab a bandage from my bag and wrap his arm. He looks so tired and I feel even worse.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry if I took to much, It's been a month I think."
He sighs, "It's fine. You need it and I will always be there for you," he blinks slowly and says, "I'm gonna go home. Hey don't look like that, I offered. Go to the party and hang with Wendy. I've been doing it all night so it's your turn."
I thank him and leave the area to find Wendy. Spotting her, I go over and link our arms,
"Alright! Let's go!"
She smiles and looks behind me, "Where's Robbie? Is he not coming?"
My smile falters a little but I don't think she saw, "Nah, he's actually pretty tired and went home. He just wanted to apologize for ditching the show."
She shrugs and links our arms tighter, "Welp, his loss. Let's go!" She leads me to Thompson's van and we pile in. We all talk and laugh on the way there. The energy of the night still buzzing in us.
I'm glad I can make her this happy.
A/N: Alright. It's been a really long time of depression and writers block. I hope posting this will help keep the ball rolling. Don't forget to like and comment any idea/or fixes I should do :)
