The UZZ Christmas party was in full swing. Fuzzy Wuzzy Stockings was feeling quite merry due to the amount of Madeira he had consumed. Professor Professor was tunelessly singing Bavarian carols. Special Agent Ray had put on an LP of Elvis singing holiday tunes to drown out Professor Professor's "singing".

Meanwhile, Anita and Victor were sitting together on a couch. Anita was wearing a dark maroon knee-length skirt, black stockings and a dark purple long-sleeve blouse. She had temporarily traded her usual purple headband for an emerald one. Victor was wearing black trousers and a green shirt that had a motif of Rudolph on the left breast pocket. They were tapping a foot each to the Elvis tunes playing in the background. On Victor's left and Anita's right were the presents that they had purchased for the other.

"Let's open our gifts now," Anita suggested. Victor smiled and nodded and the two of them retrieved their gifts from next to them and placed them in their laps.

"Together?" Victor inquired to Anita's nod. Carefully, Anita unwrapped her gift as Victor unwrapped his with a bit more gusto.

"Oh, Victor," Anita gasped softly her eyes shining with tears. Victor saw her expression as she held the pendant in her fingers. A sense of nervousness began to consume him.

"I-I can get s-something else if you don't like the gift," Victor informed her, his voice shaking slightly with sadness.

Anita was snapped out of her slight trance at the words of her best friend. She looked at him reassuringly and patted the top of his hand.

"Victor, it's beautiful. I can't believe someone would think of giving me such a thoughtful gift," she replied with a tender smile.

Victor breathed a gentle sigh of relief. "Hey, no problem." He then looked at his present and beamed. "Wow! Thanks, Anita!"

"You're very welcome. I'm glad you like it. I saw it and immediately thought of you. The opal is your traditional birthstone, and the blue reflects your uniform."

She got up from the couch and handed Victor her necklace. He looked at her confusingly.

"Could you put the necklace on me, please?"

"Huh? Oh, sure."

Anita turned so her back was facing Victor. He rose from his seat and delicately fastened the clasp of the necklace. Turning back around to face him, she silently asked how the piece of jewellery looked on her.

"You look great," he answered her in an almost whisper. In his head, he told her how beautiful she looked. Anita blushed and smiled softly.

"Would you like me to help you with your watch?"

Victor nodded and handed Anita his watch which she carefully fastened on his right wrist.

"There you are."

"Thanks."

The two of them sat back down and began discussing their plans for the holidays.
