A?N- I was reading through the reviews, when I started to rewrite this, I am grateful for your kind words and corrections about a lot of things. I hope you can enjoy this story and thank you for reading. I plan to really slow this down from the last story, and it should be I hope way better for it. Also for the person asking me about my story. It was written by me, I tried to do some rewrite of it, and well I did use chatgpt to fix grammar and I think that messed it up more than it was. If you look at the early reviews for the chapter, they were written in 2019. If you don't believe me and don't want to read this, no problem, thanks for the review and have a wonderful day.
As he walked along the path, he could see the ninja keeping a close watch on him, observing his every move. Koby kept his focus on their destination, aware that he could attempt an escape, but that would be rather foolish. He did his best to dismiss the challenge of the situation and the potential danger posed by the ninja. They didn't appear hostile, at least as far as his haki could tell at that moment. However, he remained aware that things could change in an instant as they continued walking. Koby honestly had no idea where these individuals hailed from or what their homeland might be like. Speculation was all he could indulge in at that point.
Koby then caught sight of the imposing walls of Konohagakure. These walls were massive and impressive, providing the city with formidable defenses from all directions. He also noticed other ninja, dressed similarly, and villagers who cast curious glances his way as he walked past them. He remained silent during his stroll, as he had nothing to say. Instead, he absorbed the sights and took note of the villagers and their clothing. It seemed somewhat reminiscent of what he had heard people in Wano Country dressed like. However, he hadn't ascended any waterfalls, so he knew he wasn't in that land.
Koby strolled down a street lined with colorful stalls on both sides, observing people going about their daily activities. Eventually, he was led to a police station, anticipating some form of interrogation or similar procedure. He made no attempt to resist; that would have been unwise. These people had given him no reason to believe they intended to harm him. They had simply taken him in because he was an unfamiliar presence in their land. As for where he came from, they likely had no idea, and he, too, was entirely clueless about his current location. In essence, it was a situation filled with uncertainty and unanswered questions.
Koby was escorted into a room and compelled to sit and wait on a bench. He leaned back, trying to relax. At least he had reached a village, even if nothing else was clear. Time passed, and he had no idea what was happening outside. The room lacked windows and appeared soundproof, leading him to believe that the villagers were likely preparing for an interrogation to uncover the truth. He had no qualms about sharing his situation at that moment; in fact, he needed their assistance to figure out a way to return home. If they were aware of his identity, perhaps they could even help him find his way back.
As Koby sat there, an older man with blonde hair entered the room. Koby maintained his humble demeanor and spoke softly, "Hello, sir. As I mentioned to the guards or the people here, I am Koby, a Captain in the Marines. My ship was lost at sea a few days ago, and I ended up washed ashore on your land." He paused briefly before continuing, "I hope the men were able to locate those bandits I tied to a tree," expressing his hope that those individuals would face some form of justice.
The man gazed at Koby, who had become the subject of conversation among many. He was a stranger in a foreign land, someone who clearly didn't belong and left everyone with numerous questions. The prevailing belief was that he hailed from a place off the map, some distant and unfamiliar land.
"Hello, Koby," Inoichi greeted him. "I am Inoichi Yamanaka, and I would like to use an ability of my family to verify if you are telling the truth. I mean no harm by this; it is simply to confirm the story you have shared with us and ensure that we can trust your word," Inoichi explained calmly, his gaze fixed on Koby.
Koby nodded in agreement, sensing no hostility from Inoichi. He was telling the truth, and it seemed that Inoichi genuinely wanted to do as he had stated. Moreover, Koby understood that this could potentially help them comprehend his situation and work towards finding a way to help him return home.
Inoichi soon employed the jutsu, allowing him to see every thought and moment from Koby's past, which was laid out like an open book before him. He could witness Koby's history, the challenges he had faced, the dangers he had encountered, and the adventures he had undertaken. Inoichi also observed Koby's bravery, his actions to help prevent a war, and his willingness to stand up against individuals more powerful than himself. It became evident that the young man was telling the truth. He was not from this place but hailed from somewhere else, possibly across the sea, based on the memories Inoichi had accessed.
"So, is there anything you can do to help me get back home?" Koby inquired, his gaze fixed on Inoichi, his eyes filled with hope that this ninja might offer him some glimmer of a return to his previous life.
Inoichi paused, studying the young man before him. He could estimate that Koby was probably around a dozen or so years younger than himself, likely around 18 at that moment. Inoichi couldn't help but be impressed by the truth about the bandits and how efficiently this young man had taken them down. It was clear that Koby was exceptionally well-trained and skilled in ways that were quite distinct from ninja practices. It felt as though they hailed from different worlds where power was wielded differently and uniquely.
"Sorry, Captain," Inoichi began, "I know you're telling the truth, but unfortunately, we can't determine how to send you back home. We don't even know where your home is. However, we have access to books and information about the world, and we have allies who can share their knowledge of the world with us. We'll do everything we can to assist you." Inoichi's response reflected his understanding of the situation and his willingness to help Koby adapt to his new circumstances.
Koby nodded his head, understanding that they didn't know where he was from or how to facilitate his return. He contemplated what he would do if he were in Inoichi's position; it was a crucial question now. Koby realized that he was a wildcard, a potential risk, and someone who could pose a threat to their community. He considered this perspective as he gazed at Inoichi and asked softly, "So, what do you plan to do with me then?"
Inoichi maintained a thoughtful expression as he contemplated Koby's question. He understood the gravity of the situation and the potential risks involved in having a stranger like Koby in their midst. After a moment, he replied with a calm and measured tone, "For now, we'll provide you with shelter and gather information about your world to the best of our abilities. Our priority is to ensure your safety and understand your situation better. As we learn more, we'll explore options together." Inoichi's response conveyed his commitment to assisting Koby while taking precautions to safeguard their community.
"I see, that's fine. Is there anything I can do to assist in the research to determine where I am and how I can get home?" Koby asked, eager to contribute in some way. He didn't want to sit idly; he preferred to have a purpose and direction. He was a driven young man, instilled with a strong work ethic by his old mentor from his early days as a marine.
Inoichi nodded appreciatively at Koby's willingness to help. He could sense the young man's determination and work ethic. "Certainly, Koby," he replied with a hint of approval. "Your assistance will be invaluable in gathering information. We'll start by sharing what we know about our world, and then we can work together to uncover more about your homeland." Inoichi's response conveyed a sense of cooperation and a genuine desire to find a solution to Koby's situation.
Soon, Koby was permitted to leave the station, although he was closely shadowed by others throughout, as they wanted to ensure that their village wasn't at risk from him. They had no reason to trust him, and he hadn't done anything to earn their trust. He located the small, one-room shack that he had been assigned while they conducted their research. Removing his coat and placing it down, he noted that the place had only the most basic amenities. That was fine by him; he didn't require anything fancy. He was a Marine, trained to handle such situations.
As for what the future would hold, he had no clue. He simply knew he had to work hard and find a path forward. Staying still was not an option; he had to either determine his current location or figure out what to do in this strange new world he found himself in at that moment.
