Prelims
A/N-This is a redo, thank you very much to the person who reviewed the chapter, and I think I have it fixed up. I would never call this stuff gold, but if some people enjoy that is great. Have a good day, and thanks for reading.
Koby stood alongside his team of young ninja, their eyes fixed on the arena below. The ring was made of solid stone, with an elegant statue positioned on one side, creating an impressive spectacle. As they awaited the start of the Chunin Exam preliminary matches, Koby's gaze shifted to his students. He felt a mixture of pride, excitement, and a touch of anxiety, eager to witness their growth and performance in the upcoming battles.
Addressing his team, Koby's words were filled with his characteristic humility and wisdom. "Remember, team, victory is valuable, but it's not the ultimate goal. Service, protection, and aiding those in need define the essence of a true ninja. As you step into these fights, focus on your dedication to helping others and defending what matters most."
His attention then turned to the spinning mechanism that would determine the order of the matches. With anticipation building, he watched as the indicator landed on Hinata's name, pitting her against Dosu. Koby offered her an encouraging pat on the back, his voice gentle yet supportive. "Hinata, believe in yourself. Your skills have grown, and you have the strength within you. Approach this fight with confidence, and remember that you're an incredible fighter."
Koby's words carried the weight of his training and belief in Hinata, acknowledging her past struggles and encouraging her to overcome them. He hoped that their intensive training had bolstered her abilities and confidence, allowing her to shine in this pivotal moment.
The arena was charged with energy as Hinata and Dosu took their positions, the anticipation palpable in the air. Koby watched intently, his heart swelling with a mix of nervousness and excitement for his student. As the signal to begin rang out, the two opponents surged into motion, their every move a testament to their training and determination.
Hinata's lavender eyes blazed with a newfound fire as she focused on Dosu, her Byakugan activated to enhance her vision. With a swift burst of speed, she closed the distance between them, her lithe form darting forward. Dosu, on the other hand, held his ground with a calculated calmness, his pale skin and distinctive headgear setting him apart.
As they clashed, Dosu made the first move, his hand clad in the metallic sound-emitting gauntlet. A resonating wave of sound erupted from his palm, slicing through the air with deadly precision. Hinata's training kicked in, and she twisted her body fluidly, using her exceptional agility to evade the attack. Her opponent's attack had been swift, but her reflexes were faster.
Hinata retaliated with a swift series of palm strikes, aiming for Dosu's pressure points to disrupt his chakra flow. Her strikes were precise and fluid, a testament to her Hyuga training. Dosu parried her attacks with the gauntlet, his movements measured and calculated. He countered with a swift roundhouse kick, aiming for Hinata's head. She ducked and rolled, narrowly avoiding the attack.
The battle continued with a flurry of strikes, each fighter showcasing their unique skills and strengths. Hinata's strikes were a combination of elegance and precision, her body moving gracefully as she weaved through Dosu's attacks. Dosu's gauntlet strikes were powerful and well-timed, the metallic resonance echoing through the arena with each swing.
The audience held their breath as Hinata unleashed a powerful rotation kick, her leg a blur of motion. Dosu blocked the attack with his gauntlet, the clash of metal against flesh resonating. Hinata's eyes flared with determination as she executed a quick series of hand seals, summoning her chakra and infusing it into her palm.
Dosu charged forward with a fierce punch, but Hinata evaded his strike with a graceful backflip. As she landed, her palm connected with Dosu's chest, releasing a surge of chakra that sent him skidding backward. The impact left him momentarily disoriented, and Hinata seized the opportunity.
With a swift and fluid movement, she closed the distance once more, her palm striking Dosu's pressure points in rapid succession. The barrage disrupted his chakra flow, causing his body to go rigid and unresponsive. Dosu staggered, his movements faltering as he struggled to regain control.
Hinata's moment of triumph was met with a roar of applause from the audience. Koby watched with pride as his student stood tall, her chest heaving with exertion but her spirit unbroken. The battle had been fierce, a true test of her skills and growth.
Dosu's determination shone through as he managed to regain control of his body, though the battle was ultimately decided. Koby felt a mix of admiration for Dosu's resilience and relief that Hinata had emerged victorious. As the arena erupted in cheers, Koby couldn't help but smile, knowing that his guidance and their rigorous training had borne fruit in this exhilarating battle.
Koby's hand met Hinata's in a congratulatory high five, a proud smile on his face. "Great job, Hinata. You did fantastic out there," he commended, his voice filled with genuine admiration for her performance. As the two of them turned their attention to the ongoing battles in the arena, Koby's eyes scanned the other fighters, recognizing the diversity of styles and approaches that each ninja brought to the table.
His gaze settled on Naruto, who was about to face off against Sasuke. Koby knew the history between them, the rivalry that had been brewing since their days in the academy. He hoped that their time apart had allowed them to grow individually, yet he couldn't shake the feeling that their clash would be intense.
"Naruto, listen up," Koby began, his tone firm but encouraging. "You've come a long way, and this fight is a chance to show everyone just how far you've come. Don't let your rivalry with Sasuke cloud your focus. Remember your strengths, your training, and all the techniques you've mastered. Use your shadow clones strategically, don't let your emotions take over. You've got unique skills, like Soru and your improved taijutsu. Combine them effectively and seize every opportunity that comes your way."
Koby's words were meant to inspire confidence in Naruto, to remind him of his growth and the potential he possessed. The young marine was invested in his students' success, not just in terms of winning but in proving their individual strengths. He believed in Naruto's ability to hold his own against Sasuke, to show the world that he was a force to be reckoned with.
As Naruto stepped into the arena, Koby's eyes remained fixed on the match. He knew that the outcome would shape not only Naruto's path but also the dynamics among his team. With a mix of hope and anticipation, he watched the battle unfold, ready to support his student every step of the way.
The fight between Naruto and Sasuke unfolded in a whirlwind of movement and technique, each fighter showcasing their own unique abilities. Koby's eyes remained glued to the arena, his heart pounding with anticipation for the outcome of this intense battle.
Naruto's strategy was a mix of speed and deception, utilizing his shadow clones to create chaos and confusion. His attacks seemed to come from all directions, challenging Sasuke's ability to keep up. However, Sasuke's Sharingan allowed him to see through the illusions, analyzing Naruto's movements and countering each attack with precise strikes.
As the two clashed, Koby noticed the moment when Naruto's strategy shifted. The young marine's heart raced as he watched Naruto's blinding speed catch Sasuke off guard. With a burst of incredible swiftness, Naruto closed the distance between them and landed a powerful punch on Sasuke's gut. The impact sent Sasuke reeling back, and Koby's lips curled into a triumphant smile.
Sasuke's confusion was palpable as he looked at Naruto with a mixture of surprise and bewilderment. "What was that?" he questioned, clearly caught off guard by the unexpected speed of Naruto's movement. Koby's smile grew, proud of Naruto's achievement.
Koby leaned forward, his eyes focused on the match as he whispered to himself, "Soru... Naruto managed to pull off Soru." It was a testament to Naruto's dedication to improving his skills, even incorporating techniques that weren't native to the ninja world he hailed from.
The marine captain's heart swelled with pride as he watched his student prove himself on the battlefield. He knew that Naruto's growth extended beyond just physical prowess; he had developed the ability to adapt and surprise his opponents. With each punch and dodge, Naruto was shaping his own path and identity as a ninja.
The fight continued to unfold, Koby's eyes never leaving the arena. He was eager to see how Naruto's newfound speed would impact the rest of the match, and he had complete confidence that his student was capable of surprising everyone, including himself.
Naruto's grin widened as he met Sasuke's gaze. "Remember that marine stuff we heard about in the academy? It's pretty cool, don't you think?" he quipped, his words laced with confidence. He readied himself for another bout with Sasuke, fully aware that his use of the Soru technique was limited, perhaps only four times at most in his current state. He knew he had room to improve, and he was determined to make the most of his remaining attempts.
Engaging in another round of hand-to-hand combat, Naruto recognized that he wasn't on the same level as Sasuke just yet. The Uchiha's Sharingan gave him an advantage that was difficult to overcome. Naruto understood that getting another opening like before was unlikely. His foot tapped the ground, a decision made in an instant. He was going to show his teacher what he was capable of.
With a swift movement, Naruto executed the Geppo technique, propelling himself into the air and landing gracefully at the top of the arena. His pride was evident, but his focus remained unwavering. "Now, Sasuke, you can dodge if you want," Naruto challenged, his voice tinged with playful arrogance. "But since you're so amazing, I'm sure you can block this attack."
Naruto's plan was to exploit Sasuke's pride and overconfidence, baiting him into a reaction that would leave him vulnerable. With determination burning in his eyes, Naruto put all his strength into a spinning downward kick aimed at Sasuke's defense. Even if Sasuke anticipated the move in advance, Naruto hoped that the force behind his attack would be enough to break through. It was a calculated risk, a bold move to turn the tables in his favor and seize the advantage in the battle.
Naruto descended rapidly, his velocity nearly blurring his movements. His left foot struck first, making contact with Sasuke's wrist and driving him back slightly. But Naruto knew that this wasn't enough to secure victory. In a split second, he pivoted, his second leg coming crashing down on Sasuke's collarbone with force that could be felt even from a distance. The bone gave way, unable to withstand the impact, and Sasuke was sent hurtling to the ground of the arena. The collision left Sasuke unconscious, his defeat evident in the stillness of his form.
Awkwardly, Naruto landed on the ground, his eyes fixated on his fallen opponent. He had managed to win the match, but it wasn't without risks and challenges. Sasuke had opted for a direct confrontation, a choice that Naruto respected. If Sasuke had chosen evasion over confrontation, Naruto wasn't entirely confident in his ability to outlast him in a battle of attrition. The swift execution of the Geppo technique required immense physical power and stamina, more than it demanded chakra that he had a seemingly boundless reserve.
As the dust settled and the cheers of the crowd echoed through the arena, Naruto's breath came in ragged gasps. He had pushed himself to the limits to secure his victory, and the sensation of accomplishment mixed with fatigue. But in his heart, he felt a surge of pride. He had shown his teacher, Koby, just how far he had come and the unique skills he had acquired through his training.
As Naruto caught his breath and looked around the arena, he could feel the weight of his accomplishment sinking in. His victory over Sasuke was a testament to his growth and determination, as well as the unconventional methods he had learned from his marine mentor, Koby.
Koby, who had been watching the match from the side, met Naruto's gaze with a nod of approval and a proud smile. Naruto's heart swelled with a mixture of gratitude and happiness. He had worked hard to earn Koby's recognition, and moments like this made all the training and effort worthwhile.
The medical team rushed into the arena to tend to Sasuke's injuries, and Naruto took the opportunity to catch his breath and reflect on the fight. He had successfully used Soru and Geppo in combat, surprising both his opponent and the crowd. It was a risky move, and Naruto knew that he had a lot more to learn and improve upon, but this victory was a solid step forward.
As the cheers from the crowd continued to echo, Naruto's teammates, Kiba and Hinata, approached him with proud smiles on their faces. Kiba clapped Naruto on the back, and Hinata offered a shy but genuine congratulatory smile. Naruto's heart warmed at the support from his friends and teammates. They had all come so far since their early days of training together.
Koby walked over to join them, his eyes filled with pride as he looked at his team. "You did great, Naruto," he said with a reassuring grin. "You really surprised Sasuke with those techniques. Keep up the good work."
Naruto grinned back at his mentor. "Thanks, Koby. I couldn't have done it without your training and support."
Koby chuckled. "Just remember, this is just the beginning. There's always more to learn and improve upon. But for now, enjoy the moment."
The rest of the day was a blur of celebration and camaraderie as the team basked in their successes. That was until the last match between Kiba and Choji, a match that was very interesting on paper. Fight between two close range fighters who each had their own advantages against the other.
Kiba stepped into the arena, his heart racing with a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was his chance to prove himself, to show how much he had grown and learned during his time with his mentor, Koby. He glanced over at his teammates, Naruto and Hinata, who were both giving him encouraging smiles and thumbs-up gestures. Their support meant everything to him.
On the other side of the arena stood his opponent, Choji. Kiba had seen Choji's matches before and knew that he was a formidable fighter. Choji's ability to transform his body and increase his size gave him immense strength and power. Kiba knew he had to rely on his own skills and techniques to have a chance in this match.
As the match began, Kiba wasted no time in unleashing his signature jutsu, the "Fang Over Fang." He spun rapidly, creating a whirlwind of slashing attacks that he directed towards Choji. Choji, however, wasn't one to back down easily. He raised his arms to block the onslaught, his size increasing as he absorbed the impact of Kiba's attack.
Kiba's mind raced as he quickly assessed the situation. He needed a strategy, something that would give him an edge against Choji's raw power. He remembered the lessons he had learned from Koby about observation and analysis. He watched Choji's movements closely, looking for patterns and openings.
As Choji lunged forward with a powerful punch, Kiba saw his chance. He sidestepped the attack, using his agility to his advantage. He then performed a quick series of hand seals, unleashing a gust of wind that kicked up dust and debris. This momentary distraction allowed Kiba to close the distance between them.
With Choji momentarily disoriented, Kiba seized the opportunity. He channeled his chakra into his fists and launched a barrage of rapid punches at Choji's exposed midsection. Each hit landed with precision and force, causing Choji to stagger back.
But Choji wasn't one to give up easily. He clenched his fists and roared, his body growing even larger as he powered up for a devastating attack. Kiba knew he had to end this quickly. He channeled his chakra into his legs, enhancing his speed and strength, and lunged at Choji with a powerful kick to his side.
The impact was enough to knock Choji off balance. He stumbled and then fell to the ground, the force of Kiba's attack finally proving too much. The crowd erupted in cheers as the referee declared Kiba the winner of the match.
Exhausted but victorious, Kiba stood in the arena, catching his breath and allowing himself a satisfied smile. He looked over at his teammates, who were cheering and clapping for him. He knew that his hard work and training had paid off, and he was grateful for the support of his friends and mentor.
As he left the arena, Kiba's thoughts turned to the next phase of the Chūnin Exams. He felt a renewed determination to continue pushing himself, to keep improving, and to face whatever challenges lay ahead. With his teammates by his side and the guidance of Koby, he was ready to take on whatever came his way.

[The two brothers share a hearty laugh and a fist bump, ready to embark on their next adventure together.]
[End of skit.]
