Hey Descendants!

Getting back into the groove of posting :)

We hope you enjoy the chapter, and be sure to read Twisted's notes, we've got an announcement for you!

Lots of Love!

Dark

A sharp whistle of the angry wind and the rusty shutters slamming shut jars him awake.

That, and his throbbing cheek.

Fat drops of ice-cold rain sting his face as he opens his eyes.

"Finally."

The exasperated voice sets his teeth on edge as he looks up to find Harry's eyes staring back at him.

"Hook?" He groans as he presses a hand to an ache on the back of his head.

He grimaces at a stab of pain where his fingers touch before he pulls back a blood-smeared hand.

What the fuck?

He looks around again, blinking to clear the fog in his eyes so he can focus on his surroundings. Namely the red figure in front of him.

"Maybe not the one ya be looking for, but aye."

Wait-

That sounded like-

He narrows his eyes, "Harriet?"

"So yer brain isn't as addled as it fuckin' looks. Great. Can ya stand, cause that would be fan-fucking-tastic."

"Wouldn't it?" He huffs as he forces himself to stand, annoyed at his slight stagger.

"The Isle's gone ta shit," Harriet informs him as the world moves rapidly around him, "Ya gotta pay attention."

As if to emphasize her blunt remark, something slams into the ground behind him.

Where he was pretty sure he'd just been.

He blinks before he turns back to her, "Right." He nods slowly, before his eyes narrow.

Weird.

Had she-

No, that didn't make sense-

That is unless-

Not the point.

"Look, I got people ta find," The familiar blue eyes narrow, sending a spasm of pain through his gut as the hand on his shoulder tightens, "don't you?"

People to-

He looks at his surroundings.

His very chaotic surroundings.

His stomach roils.

"T?" He hears his name called, but it was lost in the sudden screams echoing strangely around them.

A chill runs from his toes to his scalp that had nothing to do with the freezing rain.

Where was the dull rumble coming from?

Was the Isle shaking again?

What the fuck was happening?

"T. Listen to me!" Freezing hands clap over his cheeks before his vision is blocked by Harriet's very close face.

His eyes automatically travel over the smears of red and gray marring the beautifully sharp features he knew she shared with Hook.

Was she hurt?

"T!" One hand disappears, the chill lingering before it suddenly flared with heat.

He blinks before he turns back to her. "Are you okay?"

"Seriously?" The blue eyes roll, "Yeah, dandy as a schooner at full sail in a hurricane."

"Mhmm, mhmm, mhmm." He nods.

"T! Listen to me. The Isle is shaking. There's a weird storm over us. And people are hurt. So move your ass, and go do what I've heard you do best."

What? Ignoring shit?

"I can do that."

"You fucking better."

Wait-

Shit.

He stiffens as her words register and he looks around again.

Pandemonium.

Chaos.

Darkness.

Screams.

What the fuck had he missed?

He'd never seen the Isle so dark.

Never seen the Isle lit with green.

He looks up, blinking through the needling rain as green lightning arcs across the sky above him.

What the-

His eyes widen as he looks back down and takes in the city. "Fuck!"

"That's ah much better reaction."

He eyes her over before he shoves his hand into his bag roughly before he pulls out a tin, "You look like shit."

"That's hilarious coming from you, Idiot." Harriet rolls her eyes as she snatches the tin from him and quickly twists it open, "Yer fuckin' lucky I know what this is." She grumbles as she shoves her fingers into the goop before she glares, "Hold still."

It was the only warning he got before white blazing pain blinds him.

He barely registers the rough search before places he wasn't even aware had been hurting go numb.

"There. I'm keeping this." Harriett informs him as she runs the same hand through her hair.

"Kinda the-" He pauses as the earth shakes with a loud clap of rumbling thunder.

Harriett grimaces as she braces against his side, shoving the closed tin into a pocket before she takes a deep breath.

"So- Bout, that round up." He blurts out. "Go get yours, I'll go get mine?"

"You better fuckin' take care of Harry." Harriett grits through her teeth, "And the others."

"I got 'im too."

Her piercing eyes narrow, and for the first time, he spots the small flecks of silver in them as they flit over his face.

"Fine," Harriett says with a shrug, "tell him I'm alive. Fool likes to worry."

"Don't we all," He snorts, "Now, go do you."

In the midst of all the chaos-

The screaming.

The groaning earth beneath their feet.

The angry rolling thunder chasing the strange green light.

Harriet grins.

"Catch ya later."

And then she was gone, leaving him to stare at strange crumbled piles the size of mountains.

He blinks as his fingers touch the numbness on the back of his head.

He'd been too out of it before to even realize how much pain he'd been in.

If she'd just taken off with the tin…

Huh.

It was easier to think straight, even if his vision was still blurred.

The piles-

Rock and wood and-

Fuck-

Was he staring at buildings?

Crumpled and damaged buildings?

He turns slowly, unable to make the chaos make sense.

Everything was damaged.

Buildings were gone!

Buildings he'd always believed to be strong were missing walls.

Missing roofs and upper floors.

Foundations were cracked in line with the patchwork of disturbed earth and jagged stone.

"Fucking-Christ!" He snarls as another clap of thunder deafens him, loud enough to shatter what was left of the glass in the windows.

The whole place was unrecognizable.

"Shit." He breathes out.

Where he'd once hopped rooftop to rooftop, he could no longer tell where roofs ended and the ground began.

And everything as far as his eyes could see was overcast in the eeriest green he'd ever seen.

The same green as the storms swirling viciously overhead.

What the fuck was happening?

Fuck!?

Is that what Harriet had-

Were the others okay?

Why the fuck was everything green?

Green.

Acid Green.

Green smoke.

Maleficent.

Maleficent was gone. So what the-

He flinches as the thunder crashes again.

Those around him scream though the sound is drowned out as the ground rolls beneath him.

"Shit!" He trips over a fallen beam, barely managing to catch himself before his hands clap to his head in an attempt to lessen the crackling and ringing in his ears.

Seriously, what the fuck was happen-

His stomach drops as his heart slams against his ribs.

A sense of terror grips him.

Foreboding.

Something he was sure he didn't want to think.

He starts to tremble.

Because thinking it could mean-

A lump grows in his throat.

If it was like this here-

And there were people he was supposed to go get-

People he'd just promised he'd take care of.

But-

But if this was happening here-

What did the sea-

DIZZY!

The name rings in his ears painfully, scrambling his thoughts with the shrill tone of panic.

"Fuck!"

MOVE YOUR ASS!

He grits his teeth as he steadies himself.

Shit!

He needed to find Dizzy.

He launches himself forward, doing his best to dodge debris being hurled in his path by the sharp winds.

On all fours he vaults, leaps, and bounds over the turbulent terrain nature seemed intent to throw in his way.

He was so fucking close to the Curl Up and Dye he could nearly smell the chemicals.

Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Please let the building hold.

Shit! Please let the building hold.

Jesus-fucking-Christ!

Just let the building hold-

At least until he arrived!

Fuck, please let Dizzy be there.

For the love of God-Please let Dizzy be safe!

Just let him get her out before anything happens.

Please!

He speeds past men and women holding up their arms, slowing slightly when he realizes light was somehow radiating from their hands and flowing towards the buildings people were racing out of.

Was that fucking magic!?

DIZZY!

He shakes his head and starts flat out running again, but it didn't stop the tide of questions.

What the fuck was happening?

Were people actually trying to help?

How long had he been out?

A fucking decade?

His jaw tenses as he pushes down his curiosity.

Not important. Not right now.

He looks up when he feels a presence to his right.

A familiar one.

He nods at Beam, grateful another familiar face survived.

By the time he makes it to Curl Up and Dye, he counts five more shadows.

"STAY!" He barks over the wind.

He nods in approval as they all instantly rush to the center of the courtyard to stand back to back as those with weapons draw them.

Natural disasters seemed to be another thing urchins were good at rolling with.

He takes a deep breath as he turns back to the beauty shop, eyeing the cracks in the building and the places where the walls had given out.

FUCKING DAMNIT!

He darts into the shop as the sound of wood splitting and creaking above him spurs him on.

"DIZZY!" T shouts out between cupped hands before he lets out a low whistle.

His head snaps up at a weak cough before he rushes towards it.

"T?"

"DIZ!" He cries out as he races to where she was huddled in a ball under the sinks lining the wall, "Time to run!" He says as he scoops her into his arms.

"You came!" The smaller girl cries as she wraps her arms around his neck and squeezes as if testing his realness.

"Duh." He manages a strained smile, "Don't let go!" He orders as he takes off.

"My Mom! My Granny! I don't-" A choking sob tears at his heart, "I don't know where they are!"

He groans, "Later!" He ducks out of the creaking building before he lets out another low whistle.

The band of urchins turn towards him before he nods and races towards Dragon Hall.

Fuck. Please be standing-Please be standing-

Please be standing-

Please be-

He closes his eyes as a piercing shriek penetrates his prayer.

"Leave me alone!" A terrified scream fills the air, "Stay away! Stay the fuck away from me!"

Shit.

He knew people weren't just helping each other-

"There's no one there!" Another terrified voice calls out over a scream, "Come on, we gotta keep movin'."

He slides to a halt. Shit!

Freddie! Celia!

He swallows a groan as his heart jumps to his chest. What was happening to them!

DON'T JUST- GO GET THEM, IDIOT!

He looks around wildly before his head whips in a direction when the sudden sheets of rain dampening where the cries were coming from.

THAT WAY!

He takes off, his growing band of shadows following him blindly, the older among them clutching onto the younger ones who couldn't keep up.

FIND THEM, T! FIND THEM! Faustina urges in a panic.

"SHADOW!" Cat screams over the torrent before letting out a low whistle as she jumps up and down, pointing towards a crumbling building.

Sonova-

"STAY TOGETHER!" He grits his teeth and races towards Cat, thrusting Dizzy into her arms as he passes before he drops and slides into a narrow opening.

His vision quickly adjusts with the rain no longer stinging his eyes, but crawling on the ground forced him to recognize a new problem.

All this rain had to go somewhere.

"YO!" He screams over another crack of thunder as he clears a fallen beam.

Celia turns, her eyes wide in concern before she lets out a sharp exhale. "HERBIE!" She cries as she struggles to pull a howling Freddie behind her.

"Leave me alone!" Freddie swats at nothing. "LET ME GO!" She screeches in terror.

Shit!

The fuck was wrong with Freddie? He shakes his head.

Didn't matter.

His pace picks up as he meets them.

"Freddie!?" He holds up his hands as he circles the panic-induced voodoo princess. "It's Herbie. I know-"

He blinks in surprise at the pain blossoming along his jaw.

"There's something wrong with her!?" Celia cries with tears in her eyes. "She's not-"

"No shit." He stumbles back, wiping at his mouth before he spits out blood. Freddie's right hook had gotten mean.

He grimaces as he jumps back again. His hands tangling in his messenger bag before he feels the familiar weight of a dart.

He doesn't have time to think as he grapples her and slams it into her shoulder.

Cursing with relief when she goes limp.

He turns to Celia, an explanation on his tongue, but the other girl was already scrambling back out the way he came.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? RUN!

He nods as he lifts Freddie and slings her over his shoulder, staggering for a moment as the room spins and the acrid taste of vomit fills his mouth.

He swallows it as he catches his bearings, everything still spinning chaotically.

"Herbie!" Celia hisses, urging him on.

Right.

He stumbles after her.

"Sonvovabitch!" He grimaces, pulling Freddie to his chest protectively as the earth starts to tremble beneath them.

His heart jumps to his throat as rubble rains down on them, the building creaking menacingly as if threatening to drop on them at any moment.

MOVE!

He dives, rolling as a light fixture falls to clip his shoulder. He lets out a feral growl as he pulls Freddie's head protectively against him.

"Come on!" He hears the street urchins desperately urge him on.

"Workin' on it!" He snaps back.

Fuck it.

Fuck this.

He shrugs Freddie into his arms before he trips and stumbles his way around the ceiling giving out above him.

"Took ya long enough." Celia rolls her eyes before they sweep over her sister in concern.

"Where can we go?" Cat asks as the other urchins press around her.

"The fuck away from here for damn sure." He slurs as he starts back towards Dragon Hall.

There had to be a safe place there, right?

Maybe the library?

With Adelaide.

At least he'd get to check on her too.

He'd hated leaving her in that cage-

He swallows as he grits his teeth. "BIGS, GRAB A LITTLE!" He bites out to turn to the urchin leader, "BEAM, FALL BACK! KEEP "EM TIGHT!"

NO, WAIT!

"SHIT!" He suddenly halts, almost tripping as he finds himself turning in a new direction.

YENSID'S! NOW!

His eye twitches at the angry growl.

The fuck are you-

Yensid's!

I could kiss you.

Focus!

Yensid's house was protected by magic, so it had to be safer than out here.

Right?

The biggest plus? No one can get in without the stone.

Hopefully.

Or else being protected by magic wasn't worth much.

MOVE!

The school was too open. Until he knew what was happening, he wanted these kids protected.

They had to try.

Like now T!

He grimaces as he readjusts Freddie to his good shoulder before he starts a grueling pace, wanting to get to whatever safety was available at the old man's house as quickly as possible.

His thoughts stray to their family.

STOP!

Just fucking stop!

And god damn move you impudent asshole!

"Where are you taking us?" Celia asks suspiciously as her eyes dart around the darkened alleyway. "I'm feeling extra not safe right now." She rubs her hands up and down her rain-soaked arms.

T glances down at her, his feet still hitting the ground, "Hopefully someplace where you'll be safe, feel it or not." He frowns, hating the way his heavy, wet clothes fought against his movements as he tries to look between her and Dizzy.

"You ain't listening to a word I'm saying." The younger girl accuses with a pout, "I'm saying this place ain't feelin' safe. An' my daddy always says never put your faith in less than ah sure thing."

"Can you not?" T snarls as he readjusts his hold on Freddie.

He'd already dosed her three times.

He only had two more darts left.

"But-" Celia absently pulls her cards out and fans them.

T rolls his eyes, "Just stop." He shakes his head."And seriously, Cece? Put those the fuck up."

Celia glares as she continues to tap them in her hand, "Because talking feels better than just waiting for the ground to shake again." She snaps, "And fuck off."

He couldn't blame her. He grits his teeth as he looks back at the crew he'd accidentally garnered.

Their feet smacking against the mud and pavement as they move swiftly through the sheet of rain and foreboding darkness.

Following him.

Relying on him.

Expecting him to know what to do.

This felt like fucking hell.

"Wish I could."

Seriously, like, so much.

Damn it.

How the fuck did Mal and Uma deal with this shit on the daily?

Fuck, how did the leader not leader Beam?

Ugh.

Fuck being responsible for other people.

His stomach rebels again.

No.

No.

No.

The world spins once more as he stumbles before two people press up against him. Flank him to keep him from eating sludge.

Twitch.

Ragz.

Fuck.

Was it that obvious?

Everything about this situation sucked.

He glances around the still crumbling surroundings, shivering at the way some of the buildings had collapsed.

The wreckage spilled out to line the streets, blocking most of the back alleys he once used to navigate with ease.

His chest constricts as his arms tighten around Freddie.

He wasn't even sure which of them was shaking more.

Could they feel it?

The freezing rain continues to pelt them, burning his eyes turning the trails they were trudging through to frosty mud.

And the way the eerie green showed the extent of the damage in morbid flashes like someone was taking pictures-

It sent shivers down his spine.

What the fuck was happening?

His frown deepens. It didn't matter, not right now.

Answers weren't going to help him get these kids, his friends, the people he'd spent years trying to protect somewhere secure.

Quiet his curiosity maybe, but answers weren't shelter or safety.

He looks over at his shoulder with a frown. There had to be over ten people following him. Fuck.

Thirteen.

His eye twitches.

Awesome.

He swallows.

Please let his house be untouched.

They were seriously hedging their bets that it would be safe against the weather and Isle's sudden attack that shook the ground.

Just another block and he'd know.

Just one more block until they'd hopefully have a safe place to wait this shit out.

One more block, and he'd be able to go figure out what the fuck was happening.

One more block-

He'd be back to being responsible for just his sister.

What a hero-

Shut it.

"Fine." Celia huffs as she slaps the fanned cards against her palm before putting the stack back in her pocket, "Be like that." She pants, "You've certainly gained a hatred for fate." She grumbles.

"More like not willing to test it. What do you think'll happen if you tell me this is pointless?" He snaps.

Celia's eyes widen as they sweep over him. "Fair point." She slowly nods.

"Good." When he sees the house, he lets out a whoosh of relief.

Thank.

Fucking.

God.

It was still there!

Quiet and unassuming as ever.

Even looked no worse for wear.

Not even a scratch, from what he could see anyway.

His pace picks up as he heads for the door.

"What the fuck is this?" Ragz questions as she looks at him in confusion.

"Yensids."

"The Auradon hero lives-" Dizzy asks in confusion, "Here?"

"Twitch." He turns to the boy.

"Yeah?" The other boy looks at him.

"Hold this." T states as he thrusts Freddie into his arms.

"Rude." Celia huffs as she crosses her arms.

"Uh, k?" Twitch awkwardly cradles her to his chest.

T doesn't say anything as he continues to the door, struggling to dig through his soaked messenger bag.

The little stone key Yensid had given him weeks ago was the only thing standing between him and the sweet freedom from responsibility.

Coward.

I said shut it.

It takes him a worrying amount of time, but eventually, his hand wraps around the cool, smooth stone.

Oh, thank fucking god. He immediately runs it along the magic door to unlock it.

He glances around the house quickly and lets out a sigh when he sees no signs of damage.

Good call.

I know.

Bitch.

"Alright, Twitch, you first," He signals the other boy, "Get her on the couch before she starts wakin' up." He orders, holding the door open so the others can rush into safety.

It was strange being back.

Strange because it was as if the old man never left.

Even the fire was still going, casting a warm glow over the seating area.

The chairs at the table were still pulled out in invitation.

And, even though he could only see the fire, the entire place was lit comfortably.

Magic.

Weird.

He shakes his head as he shuts the door after Beam enters.

When he feels the weight of everyone's eyes on him, he reluctantly turns. "Um-" He blinks. "So, uh-" He licks his dry lips as he shifts from foot to foot. "Yeah…"

How assertive. I don't know who'd be prouder. Uma or Mal.

Can you not?

I really must.

"We can stay here?" Cat prompts with a small smile.

He nods, "At least till shit calms down, just don't touch shit, leave, set shit on fire, leave, or leave cause ya can't get back in without a magic rock. So, ya know, basically don't be stupid."

Cat looks around and nods before she looks back, "We can do that."

"Cool," T sighs as he pushes off the door.

"Are you going to get the others now?" Dizzy asks before she bites her lip

He wished.

Or didn't wish.

He wasn't sure what he-

They-

Wanted anymore.

"After I check on the Voodoo Princess." The others part as he makes his way to the couch.

Celia looks up at T with a frown from where she was sitting next to Freddie, playing with her sister's hair, "She seems a lot better now."

He nods, "She should be wakin' up soon- Do you know what the fuck happened to her?"

"After that cracking bell sounding off, she just like, looked around and started screaming," Celia slowly shakes her head, "but I didn't see ah thing."

His brow furrows as he watches Freddie's eyes flutter before they open slowly.

He holds his breath, bracing for the scream.

"Mornin' princess." He greets with a shit-eating grin.

Or at least an attempt at one.

"Herbie? Whaddya doin' here?" Freddie blinks before she slowly looks around, "Wait, what am I doing here?"

"Tryin' ta figure out if you need to be kept drugged, so you don't deafen anyone."

"Drugged? Why would I need to be drugged? What happened? I-" Her eyes widen before she shoots up and looks around, "I thought- But," Her nose crinkles in confusion, "there's nothing."

T tilts his head to the side. "Thought what?"

"The spirits. There were so many, and they were so mad." She looks down at faint bruises on her arms, "So angry." She shivers.

Couldn't she always see spirits? "Huh." He frowns as he looks between her and the door several times.

"Ya saw spirits?" Celia tilts her head, "Like, more than normal?"

"Like way more than normal." Freddie nods as she takes Celia's hand, "Like I couldn't tell who was real an' who were spirits."

"But you can't see them anymore?"

Freddie's brow furrows as she carefully looks around before she looks back to him and shakes her head.

"Well, there's that at least…" He sighs in relief.

"Where are we?" Freddie asks as she looks around again.

"I got this." Celia holds her hand up.

"Cool, I'm out." T nods as he turns and heads for the door.

Only for a hand to stop him.

"Dude," Beam glares at him in disapproval. "Ya' can barely-"

"Shut it," He glares back. "Y'all are fuckin' safe. I gotta go."

"You're gonna get dead." Beam snaps back.

"I'll be fine. There are other people- I gotta go." He winces at the plea laced through his tone.

Bean drops his arm in surprise as he looks him over.

He doesn't wait.

Doesn't give Beam time to think.

He runs.

Runs back into the freezing rain and away from the spelled home.

Away from the responsibility he was forcing on others.

Away from the concern glaring at him.

He-

He had shit to do.

Lots of shit.

No time to think.

You need to find Mimi.

You can't be serious. We need to-

Need to do what we promised. I know. She's like ten, T.

He closes his eyes and curses. "Fuck you!" He growls as he tears away from the path that would've taken him to the cove.

Would that count as masturbation?

I fucking hate you.

Fucking LoLz

Sometimes I love me.

Wasn't even tryin' to troll-

Legit didn't realize this chapter wouldn't answer any of your Geez or if you prefer Dil, related questions.

Plus side, look at you relating to T, when I'm over here forcing you to be Faustina.

Talk about a real Shroedener's Cat situation.

Faustina-

Which oh, yeah, get ready for this to be a thing in this book.

If you thought T talked to himself a lot before- Wait for Faustina to be adding fuel to that fuck fest.

Which, while I'm here, figured I'd ask, (she says like it isn't her fucking job or something) thoughts on them communication like this? Faustina being present and shit while T's out?

Were you entertained?

Find it annoying? ← That's gonna suck for you since it happens, like a fuckin' lot. Like a lot a lot.

-really doesn't want to know.

She's desperately holding on to the whole 'what ya don't know can't kill you' bit.

Can ya blame her?

Hopefully you're at least relieved that she remembered Dizzy. Did we get any redemption for that?

For Freddie?

Celia?

Or are you guys still pissed about bein' as in the dark as T and Faustina?

Cause seriously-

I got nothing.

Smart move headin' to Yensid's though wasn't it?

Oh, and look you got to meet Beam.

Remember Beam?

Carlos mentioned him once or twice in Defending.

Well, now ya get to meet him.

See, if you guys hate us, just think how we feel.

Adding another OC to keep track of.

And then introducing Harriet.

As if we didn't have enough characters to keep track of.

Maybe kill if we get bored. Or the story grows too stale.

But, seriously- Anyone see where this story line is going?

Cause you'd be surprised.

Unless your answer was, T and Faustina running themselves dead to avoid learning the truth.

How do you think Umes and Hook are gonna feel about that when they find out?

If they ever find out.

LoLz, like the Isle wasn't dangerous enough before, it's screaming 'hold my beer' now.

Like, calm down Isle, we get it. You're hard. Take a chill pill brah.

These poor fuckin' kidz.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with us-

Don't answer that one, smartass. There aren't enough characters.

Much love and appreciation

-Twisted
