-Twisted

He couldn't help the way his eyes kept drifting up.

He'd been so concerned for Deez when he'd first woken up that he hadn't even noticed, but now?

It was hard to pay attention to anything else.

It was stunning.

The clear night sky.

Clear.

Clear like they'd never been before.

It was-

He stares at the unobstructed sky in amazement.

Where were the clouds?

The smog that had hung over them since he could remember?

Where were the murky hindrances that imprisoned even their eyes?

Condemned them to a life without the sun?

Without the beauty of the night's sky?

And it was.

Beautiful.

He'd never seen so many stars so easily.

"Deez," he whispers as he jostles her gently. "Deez?"

He frowns when she doesn't respond.

She was going to be upset over missing this.

She'd wanted stars, and here they were.

In bulk.

He swallows as he looks back up at the almost unhindered view.

The barrier.

That was the only thing limiting him from a true viewing of the millions of stars he knew were on the other side.

But how?

How did that-

He frowns as he finds himself at a loss for how to describe the evil that crept over them, only to come up blanks.

-That.

Make something so beautiful?

He shakes his head.

Enthralling or not-

He knew better.

There were so many pressing matters to deal with.

He carefully climbs from the dingy with Deez secured against his chest, shaking his head when Beam turns back with a hand out.

Like he could let go of his Treasure right now.

With Uma and Harry down-

He was acting Captain.

He'd nearly thrown up when James pointed it out.

Which seriously, how?

He was third in line.

He knew that-

But not once had he ever considered being put in the position of leadership.

He didn't know the first thing about directing people.

But here he was with James and Beam looking at him expectantly, after he could only assume, asking a question he hadn't been paying attention to.

"Um, what do you guys think?"

James moves a hand over his lips as the other pats his back with a snicker, "I think yer worried and might feel better after lettin' the Fire Princess join the rest of yer family in yer quarters."

Beam nods, eyes shining with amusement, "ya seem a bit distracted."

His face flares with heat. "Uh, yeah," he pulls Deez closer, "a bit."

"Fair." Beam shrugs. "Pretty sure the only other one of you that's conscious is hiding-" He cocks his head to the side, "and barely audible."

He blinks.

Who-

Oh.

"Yeah," He sighs.

His Angel and T were somewhere on the Isle.

Hopefully with Yensid- but knowing T, probably not.

His eyes widen, unless Yensid went down too.

He clears his throat, "give me a minute?"

"Course." James nods.

"I'll be quick." He nods before he heads to their cabin and closes the door with a sigh.

Three.

Three of them were out.

Out with no idea when they'd wake.

And the other three?

Faustina, T, and Yensid-

Missing.

Missing with no way of locating them.

Uma was going to be pissed if-

His eye twitches at the thought.

-when.

Uma was going to be pissed when she woke up.

Because she would wake up.

They all would.

He wouldn't give them the choice.

And neither would T once he found out.

Because T would find out.

The minute it clicked that it was the wielders that went down.

T would be back.

Which would mean Faustina would be back.

And neither of them would just leave Yensid-

So, he could handle it.

This.

Working side by side with Beam and James until someone more qualified woke up.

With that, he nods and carries Deez to the bed.

His chest warms the moment his eyes settle on Uma and Harry, securely tucked into their bed. Safe and well cared for.

James.

His eyes narrow, maybe even Beam-

-had clearly made sure they were comfortable.

Still, something was bothering him.

He shrugs it off as he deftly adds Deez beneath the covers between them and steps back.

Something was off.

They were all out, sure, but-

His eyes narrow when it clicks.

They weren't wrapped around each other.

Uma hadn't even reached for Deez.

His chest tightens painfully.

How out of it were they, exactly?

He shivers as concern pours over him.

And how long were they going to be out?

He bites his lip before he maneuvers Harry and Uma closer to Deez, if only for his state of mind, before he promises them he'd be back.

With that, he takes a deep breath and stands up straighter before he heads back on deck, doing his best to push past his concern.

He could do this, right?

Focus on the crew while worried about his family.

Figure out the next step without knowing all the pieces.

He takes a deep breath as overwhelming anxiety crests deep in his chest.

No!

He tenses his jaw.

Just no.

But-

How?

He turns to stare at their door;

-how the hell did Uma do this day in and out?

What depths was she pulling from?

He'd always been lost as to how someone as calm and loving as Uma could become a whirlpool of destruction and anger-

And it hurt.

But he could understand how this weight could be tipped, how it could be difficult.

He'd barely been considered acting Captain for ten minutes and he was already done with the weight.

Uma.

He'd had no idea he could feel more respect for her. He'd thought she'd already fully had it.

But right now?

Right now, he felt like he never truly understood her sacrifices.

The stifling weight that constantly hung over her head.

And she did it all without so much as a complaint.

Even seemed to thrive in it.

So if Uma could do this everyday-

His chest fills with warmth as he stands taller.

-he could do it until she was able to take back command.

"See to 'er then?" Beam interrupts his anxiety before it can fully swell.

"Yeah," He nods, before he clears his throat "so-" He rubs the back of his neck.

"Some o' them that went down are already comin' to," James offers.

"You bein' one o' 'em," Beam nods and crosses his arms.

He can't help his frown, "only some?"

James nods.

He glances back at the cabin before he turns back to them, "any news from the book?"

"Nothin' since T reported they were in position."

He sighs.

He figured as much.

"So," Beam tilts his head, "what are we thinkin'?"

"'Bout?" He frowns.

"What ta do next?"

Wasn't that a great question.

His brows knit together, what would Uma do?

Barring the rage fueled fit, she'd be having about T and Yensid's total lack of communication.

Which, at this moment, it was kind of hard not to understand.

Throttling T and Yensid for leaving him to deal with this alone sounded cathartic.

"Uh," He turns to Beam, "I think it'd probably be best if we took care o' those that are out, and try ta figure out what happened to 'em 'til Yensid an' T get back."

"Great." Beam rolls his eyes, "Hopin' they all get up before that happens."

He and James share curious glances.

"I thought you hung with Shadow?" Beam lifts his eyebrow, "fuck knows when he'll show up after-" He gestures to the Isle. "The fuck that was."

He frowns, but before he can respond-

"Nah mate," James crosses his arms, "T'll be bookin' it for the ship the minute he be realizin' it were the wielders that went down."

Beam eyes James skeptically.

"There be too many people here he be lookin' after mate." James shrugs. "He's gonna-"

"Not if the ol' man knows what up and-" Beam pauses, "unless you're bankin' on the ol' man havin' takin' the hit too."

"I mean," James shrugs, "he might be a old ass wielder from Auradon, but that shit took down Deez…"

"True." Beam turns to him. "I'm down with that, then." He nods, "Takin' care of those that dropped seems like our best bet 'til they're either back or the Kraken an' the rest of your fam wake up."

Top to bottom, T. Top. To. Bottom! Are you trying to bury us in here?

He huffs as he drops the rock and skillfully climbs the pile.

Idiot.

He growls.

Some bitch was in a fucking mood.

Not that he could blame her.

Yensid.

He needed to get to Yensid.

It was the only thing he could think about.

Focus on-

He chucks a rock.

He had to be okay.

He picks up another and tosses it behind him.

Needed to be okay.

He desperately needed him to be okay.

He throws another rock.

Wasn't sure he could return to the family without him-

He continues to dig blindly as tears of frustration blur his vision.

You need to breathe.

He glares as he pulls another rock free.

I am breathing.

No, you're really not.

Another growl reverberates through his chest before he pauses to take a deep breath.

Bitch.

And?

He rolls his eyes as he returns to his task

If Yensid-

He grimaces as he forcefully blinks his blurry vision away.

Yensid trusted him.

Trusted.

Him.

To watch his back.

To help.

To stop the evil that was hiding beneath the surface of this shithole-

He snarls as he dives past the wave of guilt.

This wasn't his fault.

Wasn't Yensid's fault.

It was those devil fucking whores-

His eyes narrow as he chucks another rock behind him.

And the stupid fucking King's.

What the shit had he been thinking? Exiling the fucking worst of the worst to the same place-

Fucking pussy.

Refusing to get his hands dirty. Refusing to do what needed to get done.

Fucking goodie goodies.

Whatever.

It wasn't the first mess he'd cleaned up-

And fuck knew it wouldn't be the last.

But so fucking help the next witch that crossed his path-

His teeth snap together.

He'd tear their fucking throat out before they had the chance to open their vile ass mouth.

Cunts.

The lot of-

T!

He pauses at her tone.

At the excitement.

What?

We can see!

Yeah…

He frowns, confused at her obvious conclusion.

Are you okay?

Yes! Because we're underground, and yet we can still see.

His brow furrows as he looks around at the magical lights.

The still glowing, magical lights.

He has to be alive - how else are they still aflame?

Shit!

He starts throwing rocks with renewed vigor.

Revitalized by the realization, he wasn't digging out another corpse.

How fucking thick was this stupid wall?

One mumbled curse after another passes his lips as he continues his task relentlessly.

Poor Gil, bet none of you ever saw that coming. Gil, Sweet Boy and Gentle giant acting Captain of the ship-

But I bet you weren't surprised by his response to it-

Unless you were? (Let us know!)

It's a fucking lot of pressure. Especially a lot of pressure for an introvert who never had any desire or preparation for leadership.

It hurt didn't it?

That D/H/U didn't even try to reach for eachother. It's just, so not them.

That being said, what do you think T's going to do?

Witch hunting

Return to the ship

It's an interesting question indeed and something I had to take some time to figure out.

Both are in line with his character.

Both equally important to him.

So, which do you think will win out?

*Relieved sigh*

Faustina for the win. Noticing they could see-

An hour or two into it- *snorts*

I don't remember when I last asked, but so far what are you thinking about T/F's relationship?

It certainly didn't turn out the way I thought it would.

Much love and whatever
